Speaker 1 (00:01):
Well, hello and
welcome back to the Healthy
Living Podcast.
I'm your host, joe Grumbine, and today we're going to talk
about therapies and choosingtherapies and misconceptions
about therapies.
As you may know, I am currentlyworking on healing myself from
(00:27):
a squamous cell carcinoma veryaggressive cancer and there's
been a lot of additions to thesubscriber what do you call it?
The subscriber episodes.
I've been doing a lot of thoselately and we've had a lot of
(00:48):
new subscribers and I'm reallygrateful for that because it's
allowing me to be able to createmore content and share this
intimate story in that side ofthe platform story in that side
(01:10):
of the platform and I today wantto recognize Paul for
subscribing and really gratefulfor your support.
But this podcast is abouthealthy living and not just
about my journey, and I want tomake sure that we stay true to
that, and so there's a lot oftopics that translate into more
general knowledge andunderstanding of truth, and
(01:34):
that's where I'm going to besharing more and more of these
topics.
We have a lot of new gueststhat are scheduled.
We have a lot of new gueststhat are scheduled, and in the
next weeks we'll be having apretty diverse group of new
guests coming aboard sharing alot of good information and new
(01:54):
perspectives.
So I'm looking forward tosharing a lot of that with you.
But today I want to talk abouttherapies, and we think a lot of
things about a lot of things, and I know I specifically have
and did and still do.
We have the idea that, you know, pharmaceutical drugs are all
(02:22):
bad and that pharmaceuticalcompanies are evil and there's
this giant conspiracy to docertain things and that you know
, chemotherapy is bad andradiation is bad and supplements
are good and everything naturalis good and everything
(02:46):
synthetic is bad, and I think Iwant to bring this to mind
because I come from that place.
Remember, I had a lifetime oflung disease and I was treated
with Western medicine and Ihated it.
I hated the way it made me feel.
I came upon a book and beganstudying natural medicine and
(03:13):
that took me here and, if you'reinterested, there are many
episodes that I delve deeperinto that and, as I'm going
through, I may reference thatwe've already talked about these
things, because I don't wantthis to be a very repetitive
podcast, as so many of them are.
I'm trying to look at thingsthrough different lenses,
different lights, so that peoplecan understand in the way that
(03:38):
reaches your learning, love, language or whatever you call it
.
And so that's what I'm tryingto do here, and I came from this
place where I started growingherbs and making products with
(03:59):
them and using them, and thetruth is, it's been my entire um
medicine chest for more than 20years.
I haven't taken anypharmaceutical drugs in over 20
years, and now that I'm dealingwith this cancer, I've learned
(04:19):
that there are some things thatI just haven't found the natural
solution for, and there arealso some things that the
natural solutions have causedproblems, and I think this is
important for us to realize.
And if there's a lesson to belearned, it's that everything
cuts both ways good and bad, orat least it has the potential to
(04:44):
.
And I've talked about this withfasting already, and I'm not
going to go too deep into thatbecause I've already delved
pretty deep into that aspect offasting from water to even
oxygen, you know this thing thatwe need so much, but you can
(05:07):
get too much of it if you do itin the wrong way, and it can
have a negative side effect.
Food supplements they can bemiraculous healers, but they can
also cause problems if not donecorrectly, and the same thing
(05:28):
with pharmaceutical drugs.
There's times where aparticular drug might be the one
thing that would help you ifdone correctly.
And if done incorrectly, it canhave all kinds of negative side
effects.
And I am working on a verystacked regimen right now,
(05:52):
because I've done a tremendousamount of research and I've
gathered a tremendous team ofexperts around me, and then I
think that that's where I wantto start is you are the one
who's going to find the answers.
There's no guru going to solveyour problem for you.
(06:12):
There's nobody selling amiracle supplement that's going
to have your answer.
I mean, there's that unlikelychance that you're that one
person that the miracle thingworks for, and in some cases,
like cannabis oil, there's a lotof people that have found
tremendous value to it.
(06:33):
The Rick Simpson oil Idedicated a good chunk of my
life to learning it, developingit, making it, distributing it,
and I continue to and I continueto.
But now, instead of it being themiracle cure that helps
everybody with everything, I'm alot more realistic and cautious
(06:54):
about who I give it to and whatinstruction I give it to with,
and the premise that it's thesafest compound known to man is
flawed.
It's not actually true, andwhen we want to believe things,
(07:16):
we tend to believe them, andwhen we look for answers that
are reflective of our beliefs,we find them, but when we see
contraindications and we seethings that disprove us, we tend
to poo-poo them and disputetheir viability and sources.
So I think it's important thatwe're objective truly, and it's
(07:38):
hard to be objective eveninternally, because our opinions
and feelings tend to get in theway of everything.
So the first thing isevaluating, you know, evaluating
where your information comesfrom, and, frankly, if somebody
is trying to sell you somethinga book, an idea, a product I
(08:03):
would be suspect I'm not sayingthat they're not telling you the
truth.
Plenty of people, myselfincluded, offer services and
products because we make thingsthat we believe in, and that
first thing I tell people, though, is that you need to try
it on yourself, and you need topay attention to yourself and
(08:25):
see what works, and doseyourself accordingly, and
titrate and learn.
I think the most importantthing that we can do is
establish a baseline of who weare and where we are in our
healing journey.
You know, start journaling anddecide.
You know, determine yourpillars of health how much sleep
(08:48):
are you getting?
What's your stress levels?
What's the source of yourinjury or disease?
What are the contributingfactors?
What things make it better orworse?
What's your diet like?
What's your exercise?
I mean all the basic pillars.
Let's start looking at thosethings first before we start
throwing supplements at them ormedicines regardless.
(09:12):
I think I I now carry allcompounds on an equal footing.
Not that they're all going toend up there, but they begin
there, and if we startevaluating a compound, whether
it's a pharma drug, anover-the-counter drug or a
(09:36):
supplement, it shouldn't reallymatter.
And so the first thing that youknow we want to look at is you
know what is this thing, what'sit do and where's it coming from
.
You know there's some benefitsand detriments of products that
(10:02):
are regulated by the FDA, and abenefit would be that, well,
they are at least regulated andsomebody is looking at it.
The detriment is, you know, statistics and data are heavily
skewed and things that aredangerous are still determined
as safe by FDA, and I don'ttrust their standards.
(10:24):
I think trials sometimes aremanipulated, a lot of money can
make a lot of things happen andthere's a lot of motivation to
sell these drugs.
So I'm very skeptical of theinformation that comes through.
But published studies, Ibelieve, carry some weight, and
(10:45):
looking at PubMed forinformation, I think is a great
source and it gives youinformation in a way that you
can't get in other ways.
With supplements, you know, asif you have a good source and
you have a trusted source, thenthat's what you should do.
(11:06):
But realize there's a lot ofproblems with supplements and
mislabeling andmisrepresentation and
contaminants, and you knowpeople selling you stuff that's
not what it says and that'sreally important.
And testing isn't necessarilythe answer, because testing
(11:27):
results are faked all the timeand the people that are trying
to scam you they will have waysto scam you, you know, and so
really getting to know yoursources is important.
I think if you're going to getinformation from somebody, it
needs to be firsthand, ifpossible.
That's why this podcast isimportant, because people are
(11:49):
sharing their own stories.
I'm sharing my experience withyou, which is all that it is,
and you can take it or leave it,but at least you know it's
coming from me when I tell youoh, I know a guy and he told me
this that information justdiminished its value by a lot.
So this is something to bemindful of.
(12:13):
People don't realize thatsupplements can have tremendous
adverse effects.
Vitamin A can cause toxicity athigh levels.
Iron can cause organ damage athigh levels.
Doses of one vitamin orsupplement can inhibit the
(12:35):
absorption or effectiveness ofothers.
The same thing withprescriptions.
We have this gigantic problemwith prescriptions where you
take one and then you have totake another, and another, and
another and before you know ityou have this giant cocktail and
it's important to study a drugbefore you take it.
I'm going to get into this withmy current chemotherapy regimen
(13:00):
and the research I've done andI'm doing to mitigate the
negative side effects andmaximize the effectiveness, but
that'll be in a subscriberepisode and the things that you
know, like blood thinners.
This is important things.
(13:22):
I know personally people whohave suffered organ damage from
taking supplements and it's justthey didn't do their research
and they took the wrongsupplements or too many of them.
This is all things that peopleneed to realize.
Plant medicine is medicine.
(13:42):
Chemical medicine is medicine.
It all affects your verycomplex chemistry in your body
in ways that we know and waysthat we don't know.
And even as informed as you canbe, you have to realize this
paradigm is shifting and theunderstanding of what causes
(14:08):
things, especially things likecancer.
They don't know shit aboutcancer and even though they're
learning lots of new information, every time, a new bit of
paradigm starts to shift, like, for example, you know, for the
longest time the understandingof how cancer metabolizes
(14:34):
glucose has been the dominatingparadigm.
And you know people and it'snot that it doesn't but the
cancer cells addiction tomethionine, the amino acid, is
(14:54):
so underlooked and understudiedand yet there are hundreds of
scientific papers that provethis.
It's just not in the paradigm.
I go through and talk to everydoctor that I see and I tell
them about this and their eyesglaze.
They just don't recognize it.
And I think to myself, wow, they just don't recognize it.
(15:15):
And I think to myself, wow, youknow.
And these are the experts inthe field that are guiding me to
my treatment.
And I realized that, you know, finding resources of information
are powerful.
So this cancer group that Ikeep talking about, these are
people and doctors andprofessionals that are going
(15:38):
through this themselves andsharing their information and
cutting edge.
You know, these are pioneers, people experimenting on their
own bodies, just as I am, tosolve their problems, and
they're solving them.
These are people that werediagnosed terminal years ago and
are still here, diagnosedterminal years ago and are still
(16:02):
here.
And you know you're going tosee the books and the stories of
.
I just did this one thing I atethis one fruit and my tumor
went away.
And, yes, these are possible.
Miracles happen and I believe inmiracles and my faith will
create a place for a miracleevery day, in every way.
But they don't always happenand they don't always happen the
way you want.
I think more people have diedfrom waiting for miracles or
(16:24):
just blindly doing what they'retold than have ever been cured
by doing those things, and it'simportant.
If you become your own advocate, you will do a better job than
if you just put yourself insomebody else's hands.
So I don't want to get too deepinto this and I'm trying to
(16:46):
keep these episodes short enoughto digest, but take the time
and study and learn, and themore you learn about your own
disease or injury or health asit is, the better you're going
to be able to complement it.
(17:08):
And it's a constant journey.
My journey has shifted course somany times, but I sincerely
believe that I would not be heretalking to you right now if it
wasn't for the regimen that Icurrently have, and it has
changed and it will continue tochange as need be, and I spend
(17:30):
every waking minute to my ownfinancial detriment.
I don't know how I'm going toeven pay for any of the stuff
I'm trying to do right now, butI have to put all that energy in
because I'm confident I wouldnot be here talking to you right
now if I hadn't done everythingI'm doing, and that's why we're
sharing this with everybody, because if I'm here, I know that
(17:51):
there are hopefully hundreds orthousands of people that can
take the initiative to start tolearn and act to heal yourself,
and so I really appreciateeverybody who's supporting this
podcast.
I hope you find it interesting, informative, inspiring, and
please, if you are interested ingoing deep, consider
(18:15):
subscribing and accessing thelocked episodes and, if not, at
least let somebody else knowabout this.
You never know, the life yousave could be somebody you know
and love, and just a littleinformation might get them on
that course.
So thank you very much and Iwill talk to you next time.
