Caught in a comparison spiral right after my successful book launch, I found myself staring at an author with millions of followers and questioning my own journey. Sound familiar? That voice whispering "you're not enough" isn't yours—it's inherited programming passed down, and it doesn't need to rule your mind.

This episode takes you through my raw, honest journey of transforming comparison into personal growth using what I call the Four A's framework: Awareness (catching the comparison program when it activates), Attitude (choosing what meaning we give it), Action (deciding how to respond), and Alignment (remembering we're exactly where we need to be).

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, it's Laura.

Well, just type in Laura King, shine Brighter and purchase your
copy today.
Everyone needs it.

(00:25):
I just that that my heart is, ifyou are listening to this and
you are like feeling this callto more feeling, this call to
different feeling, this call tojust a different way of living,
different way of being, likethis, this is for you, different

(00:51):
way of being, this is for you,and I am so utterly convinced
that God is going to use thisbook to do some incredible
things.
I have no idea what I reallydon't, and my intention is.
I had to get over myself to beable to actually promote this,
and it's a lesson that we allhave to.
If we want to get a message outin the world, we have to get
over ourselves.
So that's a little plug beforewe get into the meat of the

(01:15):
content.
Okay, the meat of the contentcomparison.
So I want to tell youincredible, incredible book
launch.
Incredible, incredible, met myexpectations and then some.
And here I was, one day afterthis book launch, what should
have been pure celebration.
I find myself spiraling likespiraling into comparison mode.

(01:41):
So to take you to the scenethere I was scrolling Instagram,
which was mistake number one,of course, I see an author who's
got just a million plusfollowers and I'm like that
familiar feeling just rippledthrough my body.
This is going to be too hard, laura.

(02:03):
You're never going to be assuccessful as this person.
How are you ever going to getthat large of an audience?
First of all, why does thathaving a large audience matter?
It's more about the purity ofyour heart.
And second, you have no idea, laura, how long they've been at
this.
So it was like all this ishappening.

(02:24):
But then my little, you knownot little, but it was
incredible.
It was an incredible booklaunch.
It felt small.
I was making it insignificant.
This comparison program hasbeen with me for a long time and
it's been running in thebackground whispering stories
about who's ahead and who'sbehind and who's worthy and

(02:46):
who's not worthy.
And old Laura would have triedto silence this voice completely
.
She would have fought it, shewould have analyzed it, she
would have just tried toout-logic her way out of it.
And this time was different.
So this time it was like okay,I have a higher amount of
self-awareness.
In this scene, I'm going tozoom out and be like, okay, what

(03:09):
if I actually don't need tobreak free?
What if it's about reallyharnessing it?
Okay, so this is it, theawareness game changer.
I had to get honest about wherethat voice was coming from, that
voice telling me I'm not enough, or like that's not mine, I
can't do that.
That, my friends, that'sinherited programming that's

(03:33):
been passed down generation togeneration to generation who
believed they had to earn theirworth, earn their worth.
And I caught myself.
Okay, why am I giving thisvoice so much attention?
And then I remembered my why.
So my why is I?

(03:55):
Just I genuinely want to havean impact on so many others'
lives because I feel called.
It's just, it's a calling,because I've experienced this
immense inner peace and love andI want everyone else to
experience that.
Not because I need to be thebiggest or the loudest or have
the most followers.

(04:15):
No, success isn't about thesize of your platform, it's
about the depth of your impact.
So here we go Back to the fourA's.
So the four A's is like myfoundational work it's awareness
, attitude, action, alignment.
So this is what I did in myhead, okay.
Awareness, catching thecomparison program when it

(04:38):
activated Okay, being aware ofit, all right, okay, I see this
thing like it's rippling throughmy body.
I feel like this immensejealousy.
I'm comparing myself to thisperson who I don't even know.
Attitude, choosing what meaningI give it, choosing what meaning
I give it.
So I made it mean that I wasless.
But what if it means I'm Laura, you're right on track.

(05:02):
This is a good thing.
This is a good thing.
This is a good sign.
You want to have this much ofimpact.
That's the new story.
So, choosing that with yourattitude, and then action, laura
.
What if their mission isexactly your mission?
What if they're just genuinelywanting to help as many people?
Oh, my gosh, all right.

(05:25):
So that brings us to alignment, remembering I'm exactly where I
need to be.
I'm in the present moment, focused on my intention in this
present moment, and I don't knowwhat the future will bring, nor
do I need to figure it out.
If I stay aligned and I knowwho I am and I'm acting

(05:46):
according to my values, prettysure I'm going to be okay.
So this is the inner work, thisis the personal development work
, this is the work, and maybe weshould not even call it work.
Maybe we should come up with adifferent.
Reach out to me.
Tell me me, what should we callthis?
But the sooner you realize thatyou'll always have this inner

(06:10):
work to do, the sooner thebreakthrough happens.
The game is already won whenyou realize you're already it.
You're it.
You were perfectly wonderfullydesigned, you as you are, and
now it's just a process ofbecoming, of witnessing yourself

(06:31):
catching it, zooming out ofyour body Like who do I actually
want to be right now?
Who is this main character inthe story?
Am I actually proud to be thisperson?
Is this the person I want to beactually proud to be this
person?
Is this the person I want to be?
So what about you?

(06:53):
What comparison programs try tosteal your joy when life feels
maybe too good to be true.
What comparison programs?
Maybe it's a colleague whoseems to have it all figured out
.
Maybe it's the person in careertransition who's landing
opportunities faster.
Maybe it's a parent who makesmotherhood look effortlessly.
Maybe it's an entrepreneur wholaunched after you but seems

(07:18):
miles ahead.
So here's what I want you toremember you don't need to break
free from the voices.
You don't need to break free, you just need to be aware of
them.
Be aware when that familiarvoice because you know it will
it's going to show up saying no,no, no I don't want to
self-sabotage no.
So instead ask this is thistrue speaking or is this old

(07:41):
programming running the show?
Truth or old programming?
Is the voice moving me towardmy mission or away from it?
Toward or away?
What would I tell my bestfriend if they were having this
thought?
The most grounded people aren'tthose who never experience

(08:02):
comparison.
They're the ones who willnotice it quickly and choose
their response consciouslybecause they're aware of it.
Your next right move ofintegrity, which I have to give,
that shout out to BrendanBurchard, my coach.

(08:22):
I learned his high performancecoaching method and I've just
been such a fan for him for adecade.
He always says what is yournext right move of integrity?
Gosh, it's just such a greatsaying.
Okay.
So now it's my time to say, ifany of this resonates, okay, you

(08:42):
can reach out, you can share itwith a friend.
Great, and share it with afriend, you can join me for my
next Pursue, your Purpose,workshop.
I think there's maybe two spotsleft, maybe three, and in that
workshop we'll dig in.

(09:04):
What are the comparison triggers?
What are the things that youtell yourself?
What are the stories you tellyourself?
What are your gifts, what isyour mission?
What is a purpose statementthat will get you so excited to
get out of bed in the morning?
You'll walk away with apersonalized workbook that
serves as your compass fordecisions, plus a clear 30, 60,

(09:27):
90-day plan for living withintention.
I mean, come on, people, thisis not just about finding
purpose, it's an activation, anactivation of a deeper desire in
you.
And if that doesn't work foryou, you can always book an
activation call with me and wecan examine what really lies

(09:53):
beneath that voice that's sayingyou're not good enough or
you're not whatever enough, andI'll help you see the path
forward with clarity andconfidence.
And, especially if you're incareer transition, this clarity
from this activation call canaccelerate your search by months
, when you know exactly who youare and the gifts that you bring
, and you can stand in thatconfidence and you know that

(10:15):
opportunities are plentiful.
And that confidence.
And you know that opportunitiesare plentiful because, guess
what, I'm also a recruiter.
I know there's plenty ofopportunities out there.
So it's changing yourperspective.

(10:36):
If any of that interests, yougo to lauraekingcom.
Sometimes we just have to getover ourselves.
Sometimes we just have to havea conversation.
Maybe one conversation is allthat it takes to shift something
big in you Whenever you feelmisalignment.
It's not asking you to besomeone else, to pretend.

(11:01):
It's asking you to be more you, fully you, because the world
does not need another copy right, another copycat, or someone
living someone else's dream.
It needs your authenticcontribution.
Gosh, I am so rooting for you,I believe in you and I'm just so

(11:25):
grateful for you just beinghere and listening to this.
Go be just magnificent.
