Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, it's Laura, and
welcome to this week's Peak of
the Week.
Today I'm talking to you aboutthe voice that tried to steal my
perfect day.
So recently I had one of thosedays that felt like pure magic.
I woke up, naturally, no alarm.
I had the most just presentmorning with my boys.
(00:25):
I was making everything fun.
I was actually playing insteadof rushing them out the door.
I got some amazing work donethat felt way more like flow
than force.
I even got an hour long run.
Oh my gosh, it felt amazing.
I was literally just vibratingwith joy.
(00:48):
Now you're like what, and nowwhat?
Yep, and then it happened.
That voice, the one that's beenlurking in probably my family
line for generations.
Well, have you really earnedyour worth today, laura?
Have you really earned it?
(01:09):
It came on so viciously, sosuddenly, this sneaky program
that just wanted to take me down.
It wanted to tell me that Ihadn't earned the right to feel
this good.
Have you met this voice, theone that shows up right when
(01:32):
life feels too good to be true?
Here's what I'm learning aboutthese moments.
They're not actually about us.
This particular program, the onethat questions whether I've
quote unquote earned joy, doesn't even belong to me.
(01:52):
It's generational, it's beenpassed down like an heirloom
nobody wanted, but everyone keptcarrying it.
Everyone kept carrying it.
How many, how many lines hasthis gone through?
The belief that joy must beearned.
(02:15):
And maybe for you it'sdifferent, maybe it's related to
unworthiness, or every timethis happens.
I mean, there's so many ofthese programs that are running
around in the background thatjust try to steal our joy.
For me it's like you do notdeserve to have this much fun.
You have to be working harder, that if you're not struggling
(02:40):
and striving, you are notworking hard enough.
But that day something wasdifferent.
Instead of letting the voicetake me down that familiar
spiral of guilt and self-doubt,I caught it.
I sought for what it was oldprogramming trying to run a new
(03:04):
life and I said nope, I deserveto feel this good and the
program wants me to feel guiltyfor feeling good.
But that does not get to winanymore.
I get to feel good and I get tofeel good about feeling good.
All right, try saying thataloud to yourself a few times.
(03:28):
I get to feel good and I get tofeel good about feeling good.
It sounds so simple, but thisis like.
These are the revolutionarysort of moments I'm having,
because how many of us have beentaught that constant struggle
equals virtue, that if we're nothustling we're not worthy, that
(03:50):
joy is something that we earnthrough suffering.
So when that voice shows up, youknow.
You know this voice, the onequestioning whether you've done
enough to deserve peace orsuccess or simple happiness.
This is not your truth.
Talking Generationalprogramming, old beliefs,
(04:12):
limiting beliefs.
It probably served someonesomewhere sometime, but it does
not serve you now.
Can you see this differently?
Can you see it differently?
The critic isn't protecting you.
It's protecting an outdatedstory about what it means to be
(04:37):
worthy.
And here's what I want you toknow you do not have to earn
your right to feel good.
You do not have to justify joy.
You do not have to prove thatyou deserve peace.
You do not have to hustle yourway to worthiness.
You are worthy right now as youare.
(05:02):
So what do you do when the voiceshows up, when the program
starts running again?
First, recognize it, name it.
Name it.
Name it, name it.
Oh hi, oh hi, hi, old program,I see you.
Second, remember it's not yours, it's been passed down.
(05:22):
You, yes, you don't have tokeep carrying it.
Third, choose differently, youhave the power to say that does
not get to win anymore.
Fourth practice a new thought.
I deserve to feel good.
(05:49):
I deserve to feel good aboutfeeling good, or insert whatever
your new thought is, and guesswhat?
That day I think I had to dothis 15 times because it kept
coming up and it kept coming upand it kept coming up and I'm
like holy cow, but the next timeit's going to happen, maybe I'm
(06:11):
not going to have to go throughit 15 times, maybe it'd only be
a couple.
It's the reps we got to put inthe reps.
If the program runs deep, yougot to catch it and you got to
catch it and you got to catch itand then you got to put in the
reps.
If the program runs deep, yougot to catch it and you got to
catch it and you got to catch itand then you got to replace it
with a new thought and replaceit with a new thought and
replace it with a new thought.
But every time you catchyourself, call that a victory.
(06:34):
Every time you catch yourselfin the old pattern and choose
something different, you're notjust healing yourself, you're
healing the line.
What do I mean by that when Ichose joy over guilt, I wasn't
just choosing for me.
I was choosing for my four boys, who are watching how I relate
(06:59):
to happiness and success.
Even if they can't quiteregister it, they can pick up on
these things.
I was also choosing it for allthe clients that I serve who
need to see that it's possibleto thrive without the constant
weight of earning it.
And I was choosing for you yes, you, who might be carrying your
(07:26):
own version of this program.
So I want you to think aboutthis.
What program tries to stealyour joy?
What voice questions whetheryou've earned the right to feel
good about your life?
Maybe it's the voice that saysyou haven't worked hard enough,
or that you don't deservesuccess, or other people are
(07:52):
more qualified, more worthy,more deserving.
Whatever it is, I want you toknow that voice is not your
truth.
You get to feel good, you getto thrive.
You get to experience joywithout justification, not
eventually, not when you'vesuffered long enough or achieved
enough or proved enough.
No, no.
(08:14):
What would change in your lifeif you truly believe you deserve
to feel good?
I want you to think about that.
What would change in your lifeif you truly believed you
deserve to feel good all thetime, that that was like your
birthright.
(08:34):
I mean, if you have kids, don'tyou want this for them?
That answer might just beeverything.
I just want you to know you arenot alone.
I just want you to know you arenot alone.
Many, many, many of us areworking to break these inherited
(08:56):
patterns.
It's not just you.
You're talking to Laura overhere, who literally talks to
thousands of people every year,thousands.
This is some of the mostimportant work we can do, not
(09:16):
just for us, but for thegenerations that come after us.
I'm just so proud of you.
I am honored to be coming intoyour ears right now.
I do not take that for granted.
I appreciate you to your earsright now.
(09:39):
I do not take that for granted.
I appreciate you.
I am so filled with gratitudethat you care this much.
It is some of the hardest work, but some of the most rewarding
work to work on our inner selfWith love and belief in your
magnificence.
Go make it an amazing, amazingday.
