And no end in sight.  Our government officials should not be getting paid if our military isn't getting paid.  They all need to be fired and we need to elect all new house and senate.  Term limits need to be a thing!

or even a glass of wine.

SPEAKER_00 (00:24):
Sorry we missed you last week.
I was sicker than a dog.

SPEAKER_01 (00:28):
Yep.
That you were.

SPEAKER_00 (00:31):
This weather changing is just Yeah, your
allergies.

SPEAKER_01 (00:34):
That's what kicked in.

SPEAKER_00 (00:35):
I know when they say hay fever.
It's a fever.

SPEAKER_01 (00:39):
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I mean and then it went tosinus, didn't it?
And then into congestion.
And I mean, yeah, you you gotknocked down for the punch.

SPEAKER_00 (00:50):
I know it w people were like 101.9 or something.
Yes.
And then like all week lastweek, it was at least like 99
and a half.

SPEAKER_01 (00:57):
Yeah, you never could you never could break it.
But you were getting goodnight's sleep.
So What are you saying?
No, I'm just saying that youwere getting good night's sleep.

SPEAKER_00 (01:07):
So thinking NyQuil.

SPEAKER_01 (01:08):
Yeah.
Well, I mean, whatever you gottatake.

SPEAKER_00 (01:12):
I will take it every day of the week and twice on
Sunday.
But let me just tell you, people, PSA.
Do not get the honey flavoredNyquil.
I think it's new.
And somebody thought it would begood to, well, let's get
something different.
Let's don't get the cherryflavored NyQuil.
Let's get the honey flavoredNyQuil and DayQuil for you.
Thanks, babe.

(01:32):
I appreciate it.
It's disgusting.
It is disgusting.
I have to hold my nose while Itake it, but then I can't
swallow it with my whole noseheld because then my ears start
popping.
So I have to unplug my nosebecause it was just nasty.
It's not good at all.

SPEAKER_01 (01:50):
So it's well, that's good, then at least I know it's
not addictive.
No.

SPEAKER_00 (01:55):
And yesterday was the first day that I did not
have to take Dayquil and sleepwith Nyquil, so Yeah, that was
finally.

SPEAKER_01 (02:04):
That was yeah.
Finally relief.

SPEAKER_00 (02:07):
Mm-hmm.
Exactly.
Relief.
And we're going into the thisstarts the fourth week of our
government shutdown.
No end in sight.

SPEAKER_01 (02:17):
No.

SPEAKER_00 (02:18):
That is ridiculous.

SPEAKER_01 (02:19):
Very much so.

SPEAKER_00 (02:20):
The lawmakers should not be getting paid.

SPEAKER_01 (02:23):
Right.

SPEAKER_00 (02:23):
Which I know some of them I've gotten, you know, I've
gotten an email from ourlawmaker saying that, you know,
he has sent a letter to someonesaying withhold pay until this
is over.
And I think they should all dothat.

SPEAKER_01 (02:35):
Yeah, they should.
They should all.
Everybody.

SPEAKER_00 (02:38):
I mean, because they're government workers.

SPEAKER_01 (02:41):
Right.

unknown (02:41):
Right.

SPEAKER_00 (02:42):
So they should not be getting paid.

SPEAKER_01 (02:44):
And our taxpayer money is what is funded it.

SPEAKER_00 (02:47):
Right.
And they're expected to show upto work and not get paid just
like TSA and air trafficcontrollers and military.
I mean, that's just ridiculous.
And there's no end in sight.

unknown (03:00):
I know.

SPEAKER_00 (03:01):
Meet and sit in a room and get it speculated.

SPEAKER_01 (03:05):
What was the last one?
Wasn't there one that was like45 days or something?

SPEAKER_00 (03:08):
35 or 45.

SPEAKER_01 (03:09):
45 days.

SPEAKER_00 (03:10):
Mm-hmm.
And this one's ridiculous.
I know, I know.
I'm just I'm thankful that Idon't work for the government.

SPEAKER_01 (03:15):
Right.
But it's still it's affectingeverywhere.

SPEAKER_00 (03:18):
I mean, my brother-in-law works for the
government.

SPEAKER_01 (03:19):
Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00 (03:20):
You know, he's not getting paid and and what and
what I don't understand is itjust because the accountant
people aren't there and that'swhy they're not getting paid?
Because when the when the dealis over and the government opens
up back opens back up again, they get their back pay.

SPEAKER_01 (03:36):
Right.

SPEAKER_00 (03:36):
So it's not like the you know the government ran out
of money so it shut down, sothey're not getting paid, and
then they don't get paid forthis four weeks that they've
been out of work.

SPEAKER_01 (03:46):
Right, no, they get paid.

SPEAKER_00 (03:48):
So what what's the point?
What is I don't know?

SPEAKER_01 (03:52):
I don't understand it all either.
I really don't.

SPEAKER_00 (03:55):
And if the government's running out of
money, you know what?
Let's don't pay our uhpresidents for the rest of their
life.
Let's don't pay ourcongresspeople for the rest of
their life.

SPEAKER_01 (04:04):
True.

SPEAKER_00 (04:04):
When they're out of office.
True.
And give them all these benefitsfor the rest of their life, even
when they're out of office.
No, they get social securityjust like the rest of us.

SPEAKER_01 (04:13):
I agree.

SPEAKER_00 (04:13):
They need to contribute to a 401k just like
the rest of us.

SPEAKER_01 (04:17):
I agree.

SPEAKER_00 (04:18):
Sorry, I'm on a soapbox.

SPEAKER_01 (04:20):
They go hey, ride that box.
I just whatever you whatever youfeel needs to get off your
chest, you get it off yourchest.

SPEAKER_00 (04:28):
I need to get it off my chest so I can breathe.
But seriously.
And supposedly the thing that'shell holding them up is that the
Democrats are insisting that umhealth care be included in this
spending thing that needs to besigned for they want to extend

(04:51):
Obamacare, and I guess thatcovers illegal aliens.
Which reminds me, I have to signup for insurance this week.
This is the last week of openenrollment for our insurance.
But because because they'resaying health care is so
expensive.
Well, you know what?
If we're providing health carefor illegal aliens, it's even

(05:13):
more expensive.
I'm not I don't want to pay.

SPEAKER_01 (05:16):
Right, no, I agree.
I mean, we have our own to pay.

SPEAKER_00 (05:19):
Exactly.

SPEAKER_01 (05:20):
Why are we paying for others?

SPEAKER_00 (05:22):
Right.
For sure.

SPEAKER_01 (05:24):
I completely and totally agree.

SPEAKER_00 (05:27):
So anyways.
That's enough of that.

SPEAKER_01 (05:31):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (05:32):
Or is it?

SPEAKER_01 (05:33):
How about them Aggies?

SPEAKER_00 (05:35):
7 and 0.
Are you kidding me?
7 and 0 for the first time sincelike 1900.

SPEAKER_01 (05:43):
And it hasn't looked pretty.
Hey, W's a W.
Exactly.
A W is a W.

SPEAKER_00 (05:48):
Well, and like I said yesterday, in in Pro Ball,
a W's a W, it doesn't matter,but in college ball, it it does
depend on the stuff.
Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01 (05:57):
A W is a W that r does rankings, get you more
publicity.

SPEAKER_00 (06:03):
But how pretty is the W also affects your ranking.
You know, if you if you if youbarely win, you might go down.

SPEAKER_01 (06:11):
Well, it depends.
If you if you barely win againsta conference player or another
number ranked team, then you doyou go up.

SPEAKER_00 (06:20):
Right, but if you barely win against a non-ranked
team, you're gonna go down.

SPEAKER_01 (06:23):
It well, it just depends on how everybody else
does around you.

SPEAKER_00 (06:26):
Right.
But big story from the weekend.

SPEAKER_01 (06:31):
Yes.

SPEAKER_00 (06:32):
You're Broncos, baby.

SPEAKER_01 (06:34):
Oh my gosh, I know.

SPEAKER_00 (06:35):
33 points in the fourth quarter.

SPEAKER_01 (06:39):
Why are we waiting until the fourth quarter?
I mean, it's just a lot ofpeople.

SPEAKER_00 (06:43):
How many mini heart attacks did you have?

SPEAKER_01 (06:46):
I you know, uh Bo reminds me of John Elway a lot.
And I had heartache with JohnElway quite a few times.
So I'm just enjoying watchingthat at least I have a
quarterback that that's gonna bethere for a while.
And he's got some targets, whichis fantastic.
You know, and we got a decentkicker that can handle pressure,

(07:07):
which is nice as well.
So I just wish that it wasn't,you know, the last quarter that
we start kicking in.
We got a lot of things that wegotta just work on.
We gotta we gotta cut out thefouls, we gotta cut out the
penalties, and you know and justto see the look on those giants'
faces, they were like, what justhappened?

(07:30):
I don't know.

SPEAKER_00 (07:31):
I know how did we lose this game?

SPEAKER_01 (07:34):
And that was I mean, and there's I mean, it was all
within seconds, and it was thewhole team's effort, the whole
offensive line, and everybodyhaving to hustle and get there
and get up and and get it spikedso that we can get the kick, and
then and then him getting thiskick and you know, because he
missed one earlier.

SPEAKER_00 (07:50):
So wasn't it 40-something yards?
So it wasn't a gimme.

SPEAKER_01 (07:53):
No, it wasn't a gimme.
It wasn't a gimme, but you know, yeah, so I'm happy about them
Broncos.
Bronco Nation.
Yeah, that's uh that's goodtimes.
And then we had on Saturday, wehad a wonderful uh what would
you call it?
Uh it was it a bazaar or was itlike it was a country music

(08:13):
festival.
Okay.

SPEAKER_00 (08:15):
It was a country music festival that had arts
that had vendors.

SPEAKER_01 (08:19):
Vendors for crafts and food and things like that,
yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (08:22):
Right.
Which when I signed up for it,they were like, you know, we
were expecting 12,000 people.
So it cost a pretty penny to getinto it.
A lot more than the farmersmarket is that I've been going
to.
But um, but I was like, but for12,000 people, that's great.
Well, the weather did notcooperate.
It was so freaking hot.

(08:42):
For the middle of October, itwas so hot, and so that kept a
lot of people home.
Because it was a free, it was afree country music venue uh
festival to go to.

SPEAKER_01 (08:53):
So I'm sure if people And we weren't
necessarily put we I mean it wasalready I didn't even look back
there.
I wish I would have looked moreuh of where we could have set up
because if we would have beenback by the craft stuff, I think
we would have gotten a lot morebusiness.

SPEAKER_00 (09:08):
We do we did great.
Made our money, made a profit,um, but it was so not organized.
I showed up, um, they theydidn't have it was not assigned
booths, it was first come, firstserve, so you could be by your
friends if you wanted to.
They didn't have the boothspaces marked out so you knew
where your 10 by 10 booth was.
Right.
Um, I showed up and I went, youknow, finally found someone.

(09:30):
They're like, oh, we'll all bein Bass Pro Shop hats.
So I'm like looking around forsomeone with a Bass Pro Shop
hat.

SPEAKER_01 (09:35):
I didn't see anybody in Bass Pro Shop hats.

SPEAKER_00 (09:37):
So I found someone.
I was like, yeah, hi, I'm hereto set up for the booth.
He's like, okay, um, why don'tyou just go over there?
I didn't give him my name.
I didn't give him the name ofthe my company.
He didn't check me off on a listto make sure that I paid.
Yeah, that's I was like, Are youkidding me?

SPEAKER_01 (09:55):
And then he was gonna st and then you were gonna
be over like where the a foodtruck where the food trucks
were, but also where people satdown to eat what they just
bought from the food truck.
And I'm like, no, no, no, no,no, no.
We need to be out where we canmove around where we can be
seen.
And then we had a good decentspot, but then the persons right
around our corner hogged thatwhole uh walkway so you couldn't

(10:17):
even people couldn't get pastthat walkway, and that took
traffic down.

SPEAKER_00 (10:21):
Right.

SPEAKER_01 (10:22):
But you know, and then we were so close to the
music that we got justoverwhelmed by the sound of it.

SPEAKER_00 (10:28):
And and nobody wanted to do shopping while the
acts were performing.

SPEAKER_01 (10:33):
Right.
But they they were over theywere were over where the craft
booths were, you know, thatlittle picketed fence area over
there.
They were there.

SPEAKER_00 (10:43):
So the acts would go for about an hour, hour and a
half, and then there'd be like ahalf an hour intermission
between while the other the nextband was setting up, and so
that's when the people wereshopping.
Right, right.
But it started out so good.
Like within the first 45minutes, I sold two Quillows to
one family, and I was like, yeah, this is a good sign of

(11:03):
things to come.
And then it just we were theretill 7 30 at night, and it just
it was a long day out in thesun.

SPEAKER_01 (11:09):
And it takes about an it takes about an hour and a
half, an hour and a half to setup and an hour and a half to
break down.

SPEAKER_00 (11:16):
Right.
Because there's very little Ican do because I get overheated
so easily.
And even by wearing that neckfan that you got me, and even
inside the tent, you've gotthree fans going, which we've
got we've got the setup.
We have got the setup, andthat's what people are walking
by and like, come on in, feelsome of the feel some of the

(11:38):
cool air we got going on.
Yeah, and they come in, they'relike, oh my gosh, this is so
nice.
Um, but I still get I I getoverheated trying to help set
stuff up, so I have to be,you're like, just sit down and
direct me.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay, I will.

SPEAKER_01 (11:56):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (11:57):
So um, and then breaking down, you know, the
festival was still going on whenwe were able to break down, so I
like had to stay there while youtake one load out to the car
because I didn't want to justleave our booth there.

SPEAKER_01 (12:07):
And all our stuff is it is truly a three tripper.
Uh with our good dolly.
I mean, uh, thank goodness wehave that thing because that has
helped get it into bigindustrial wagon.
Wagon, yeah.
The sides fold down and stufflike that.
You have to deal with thataspect, but that's what the
bungees are for.
Right.
But yeah, that I mean and thenwe had to park, the parking was

(12:32):
horrific.
So, I mean, just having to gothe distance of d pulling that
stuff, setting it up, then todoing it back and forth, and
then tr and then trucking itafter you've been, you know,
setting it's just crazy.

SPEAKER_00 (12:47):
Yeah, it was not organized.
So I will not be doing thatfestival next year.

SPEAKER_01 (12:51):
No.

SPEAKER_00 (12:51):
Um, because of course after I signed up for it
and paid, I saw that there wasother festivals going on in town
that were like specific artisan, you know, right arts and crafts.

SPEAKER_01 (13:01):
Exactly.

SPEAKER_00 (13:02):
I'll do that next year.
But I do have some high schoolum craft fairs um coming up in
November.
So and I know we keep saying it,but I need to take pictures so I
can put the stuff on Etsy.
And I'm gonna do it.
I promise.
We got a great camera for it.

SPEAKER_01 (13:18):
Right, we do.
And and now we have we havewhite poster boards, so I mean,
and all we gotta do, and you andwe have a platform that we can
use to flatten and just set iton, and that way we can just and
we got the lights and everythingto just take some shots.

SPEAKER_00 (13:34):
There's an adorable girl that sells things kind of
like I sell that I I found onEtsy and YouTube, and she just
takes pictures out in thesunshine.

SPEAKER_01 (13:42):
Right.

SPEAKER_00 (13:42):
She just holds her bags up out in the sunshine.

SPEAKER_01 (13:44):
So well, you can do that too.
I know, I think.
I'm just saying that I meanyou're talking about with a good
camera, she's doing that withher little iPhone probably.

SPEAKER_00 (13:51):
Oh, I'm sure she's not.

SPEAKER_01 (13:53):
You never know.

SPEAKER_00 (13:54):
I don't never know.
So I don't never know.

SPEAKER_01 (13:56):
You know, never know.
I don't never know.
Well, I think, yeah, we canstart.
We need you need to get stuff onyour Etsy page.
You need to get this stufflooking good and going from
there.

SPEAKER_00 (14:06):
So and then eventually setting up my own
website.
So it's coming, people.
It's coming.
And you know what else iscoming?
Our YouTube channel.

SPEAKER_01 (14:16):
That it is.

SPEAKER_00 (14:18):
We've been talking about it for a year or so that
we would break out into YouTube.

SPEAKER_01 (14:22):
YouTube universe, and and have you know we're our
podcast on YouTube.
So we don't know the podcast Idon't know yet, but we're
definitely having uh we're gonnahave things on there.
We're getting a little, whatwould you say, a little uh
catalog lined up before welaunch so that we're not having

(14:43):
to go every single week.
I can't do that.
Exactly.

SPEAKER_00 (14:48):
Kind of kind of like we did when we when we set this
up, we like launched threeepisodes of our podcast right
off the top.
And when we first started, wehad like we were like two months
in advance.

SPEAKER_01 (14:59):
Yeah, we were.

SPEAKER_00 (15:00):
We were we had plenty of we we dropped three
episodes at once, and then wehad one a week for like three
months.
And then we took advantage ofthat and didn't record for a
bit.
And then every time we thinkthat we're getting one episode
ahead, we're like we're like,let's record just a a random
episode that has nothing to dowith anything that's current

(15:21):
event, and then we'll just holdwe'll just you know keep it in
the pipeline in case somethinghappens.
Something always happens.
Something always happens thatnext week, and we're like, let's
play that one.
Yeah, let's play that one.

SPEAKER_01 (15:31):
But now, but now the good thing is is I think that we
can with our setup, I think wecan work it to that we can do
this on the move.
And then that way we can youknow broadcast from different
areas.
You know, who knows?

SPEAKER_00 (15:46):
Broadcast live from the Christmas fair.

SPEAKER_01 (15:48):
Could be.

SPEAKER_00 (15:49):
No, because I'm gonna be so busy, I'm not gonna
be able to sit down.

SPEAKER_01 (15:51):
I know.
I know going, going, going, going, going.
We had your we had the booth setup really good.

SPEAKER_00 (15:57):
Oh, it was so cute.
It was very cute.
I will post a picture of that.
I can post a picture of that onInstagram.
And thank you to all of our newfollowers.
We've got a lot of new followerson Instagram and on Facebook.
So thank you.
I need to get better at posting.
So y'all are looking atsomething.

SPEAKER_01 (16:16):
It's all you, it's all you.

SPEAKER_00 (16:19):
I'm so good at social media when it comes to
just looking at looking at it.

SPEAKER_01 (16:25):
Exactly.
I I can look not putting up, notputting up content.

SPEAKER_00 (16:28):
I know it.

SPEAKER_01 (16:29):
You gotta get on that.

SPEAKER_00 (16:30):
I know, I need to get better, and I will because
y'all have been doing what we'vebeen asking, and y'all have
been, you know, leaving us thefeedback and you're following us
and rate us.
We appreciate it all.
Yeah, so keep doing it.
Thanks for caring.
Exactly.
Caring is sharing.

SPEAKER_01 (16:48):
Yes, it is.

SPEAKER_00 (16:49):
And I promise I will get better at it so you can
leave amazing comments andrecommend us to all your family
and friends, because again,we're just a a podcast about
nothing really, just husband andwife, empty nesters, just
chatting it up, chatting uptalking about talking about the
weeks escapades.
Exactly.

SPEAKER_01 (17:08):
You know, the craziness in our life, and it's
a lot coming.
There is a lot coming.
There's a lot coming.
Well, that was him, and that washer, and this was our time.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
