Speaker 1 (00:00):
We have been talking
about the CDP formula, which is
consistency, discipline minusprocrastination equals your glow
up.
And who is ready to glow upwith me?
Are y'all ready to glow up ornot?
I'm trying to glow up every day, stress-free, living my best
life vibes, living the best lifefor the rest of our life.
(00:21):
Snap to that boo, let's snap tothat.
I like to give us some knowledgeand right now we are reading
this book Eat that Frog by BrianTracy.
If you want to read this book,we are like on chapter five.
I want to give you some gemsfrom the book Eat that Fraud by
(00:44):
Brian Tracy, and we're going tobe focusing on chapters five,
six and seven.
Let me break this down for allof my future entrepreneurs, all
of the dental students out there, even my high schoolers who are
hustling hard like pat yourselfon the back for trying to get
your education and just being areal lit person.
(01:10):
Chapter five is called practicecreative procrastination.
You're going to procrastinateabout something in life.
There's just not enough time todo everything that you need to
do, and the older you get, themore things you have on your
list and you cannot do them all.
So the best thing that we canlearn to do as we are practicing
this skill ofanti-procrastination is to be
(01:31):
creative when you procrastinate.
Success isn't about doingeverything.
It's about doing the rightthings at the right time.
Now, as a dentist and abusiness owner, I can say that I
learned to delay or deletedistractions that cost me money
and my peace.
You can't do everything youhave to do, so you must
(01:51):
procrastinate on something itsays, deliberately or
consciously.
Procrastinate on small tasks.
We already know that we want todo the hardest, most difficult
thing that you've been avoidingthe biggest, ugliest frog.
You want to eat that frog first.
You don't want to go playingwith the tadpoles and playing
with little things that don'treally have high value.
(02:12):
Everyone procrastinates.
The difference between highperformers and people who are
low performers is determined bywhat you procrastinate on.
If you are a high performer, you're going to procrastinate on
things that don't really matter.
You're not going to sit andcount pennies, you're not going
to sit and organize your markers, or you're not going to.
(02:35):
Maybe you don't have time towash clothes, so you drop your
clothes off to the laundry, butyou're going to pick which tasks
you procrastinate on and onesthat are high value, especially
in entrepreneurship.
I am struggling with this rightnow in business, just being
short-staffed and, as a dentist, having to do some hygiene stuff
, having to take x-rays,sometimes having to do billing,
(02:59):
having to do supply orders.
The list goes on and on for meright now in business, but this
is what I must do to keep thebusiness alive, to save on the
overhead and hopefully not goout of business.
We have to procrastinate onsome things.
Learn and be creative on whatyou are not going to waste your
time on.
(03:19):
Certain people do not deserveyour time.
They literally don't.
Sometimes you got to becreative and procrastinate on
people energy, because if it'snot positive you got to get away
.
Flee, please flee,procrastinate, delegate,
eliminate or outsource low valueactivities.
(03:41):
As business people, we reallyneed to be delegating anything
that isn't going to serve us,even though I'm a practice owner
and I could hire a hygienistand I have in the past overhead.
Hygienists nowadays are superexpensive, but you have to do
(04:01):
what you have to do in the nameof business.
That's why business is not forthe weak.
Sometimes you must do.
The things that you don't wantto do need to be done.
We want to distinguish betweenpriorities and posteriorities.
A priority is something thatyou want to do sooner.
A posteriority is somethingthat you do less later or not at
(04:24):
all.
So determine what and who inyour life is a priority and who
is a posteriority.
Baby you are in the past, yeah.
No, you can get your time lifeunder control only to the degree
to which you discontinue lowervalue activities.
I've seen so many studies on theinternet about the impact of
(04:48):
social media nowadays, especially when you do low
activities, if you just on there, strolling and not really
engaging with things that makeyou feel uplifted, positive or
just growing your brain.
It's okay to stroll sometimes, but I think it has become an
addiction, which is why ourphones now.
They record the screen time andthey let you know when you
(05:10):
spend a little bit too much timejust looking at people Instead
of getting into your creator bag, instead of working on your
business, studying for your test, getting ready for the next day
and just being the best personthat you can be and waking up
with that positive energy.
Versus waking up ready tostroll, ready to see what's on
the book, ready to see what's onthe gram and not ready to see
(05:32):
what's in your heart, in yourmind, in your soul and in your
spirit.
You got to check yourself first.
That's why self-love is thebest love, because self-love is
a high value activity.
Worrying about other people, watching other people, is a low
value activity unless they'regiving you something that you
need.
Maybe they're making you laugh, maybe they low value activity
unless they're giving yousomething that you need.
Maybe they're making you laugh, maybe they're funny, maybe
(05:55):
they're giving you vitalinformation, but as long as it's
helping you grow or if you arecreating, okay.
So just choose which one is apriority and which one is a.
What is it called Posteriority?
It's all about prospecting, building rapport and trust right
, identifying the needs,presenting persuasively
(06:17):
answering objectives, closingthe sale and getting resells and
referrals.
Now, with dentistry, I'mdefinitely in both areas of
these topics the management andthe sales.
I have to plan my day, plan thebills, plan a lot of different
things how to even set up theinfrastructure and the bones of
(06:40):
the office, organizing the staff, organizing different things,
delegating, supervising,measuring, reporting.
Same thing for sales.
You have to prospect.
For instance, on Twitch, weprospect by sharing clips to
YouTube or other social mediaplatforms.
We build rapport by showing up.
That's why this consistencyproject is important that we
(07:03):
don't procrastinate and that weshow up 365 days for our goal.
Whatever goal you have pickedto do 365 days, you must show up
.
That's the only requirement isto show up to build rapport and
trust.
That's like me here on twitch, even though I started seven days
ago, if I would have skipped aday or not showed up at the
(07:26):
regular time, it breaks thetrust and that's something that
I realize.
You can't just break the trustwith your audience.
You must show up.
So I have to show up.
I have to do what I say I'mgoing to do and show up.
That's why I'm showing up now,regardless of who's watching,
even though I can't see theviews, I'm still showing up and
(07:46):
giving the meat and the potatoes.
It says you want to identifyneeds, present persuasively,
answer objectives, close thesale and get resales.
Give yourself a grade from oneto 10 on each one of those areas
and your weakest key resultarea says the highest at which
you can use all of your otherskills and abilities.
(08:08):
What does that mean?
With the manager key areasplanning, organizing, staffing,
delegating, supervising,measuring, reporting You're
going to grade yourself andwhichever one is the lowest out
of 10, that's your limit for allareas.
So say you gave yourself a 9 inevery area except organizing.
You got a 5 in organizing.
(08:29):
Until you bring that 5 up inorganizing, it's going to hinder
every other area.
Continue to grow in all keyareas.
These are the big seven keyareas.
Poor performance producesprocrastination.
If you have a weak area thatyou avoid and you continue to
avoid it, it's going to produceprocrastination.
(08:51):
Because you refuse to getbetter, you refuse to justify
that weakness.
You make your own sub of victimwhen you don't prioritize your
time or you refuse to get betterin any of your weak areas.
