SPEAKER_01 (00:01):
Welcome to HTM on
the line.
I'm your host, Bryant HawkinsSr.
A few weeks ago, I had theopportunity to be in Charlotte,
North Carolina for the UptimeServices Dental Summit held
September 18th through the 28th.
And let me tell you, it wasn'tjust another conference.
(00:22):
It was a space where the futureof dental service and technology
was on full display.
Over the next four episodes, you're going to hear
conversations I recorded rightthere at the summit with leaders
and companies who are pushingboundaries, solving problems,
and reshaping how technicians, providers, and patients
(00:44):
experience dentistry.
And today we're starting withDexas.
They're not just buildingimaging equipment, they're
creating an AI-powered digitalecosystem that's changing the
way the industry operates.
Here's my conversation withJerry Weiss from Dexas.
(01:19):
Okay, we're live at another HTMon the line.
Today we're at the UptimeServices Dental Summit.
And I'm here with a specialguest, Miss Jerry Weiss.
How you doing today, Jerry?
SPEAKER_00 (01:30):
I'm doing well.
Thank you.
How are you?
SPEAKER_01 (01:32):
I'm doing great.
So, Jerry, tell us who you with, who are you working with?
SPEAKER_00 (01:36):
I work with Dexas.
SPEAKER_01 (01:38):
And Dexis is a
corporate I do.
SPEAKER_00 (01:41):
We produce imaging
and technology for dental
practices.
SPEAKER_01 (01:45):
Great.
And that's nationwide,worldwide.
SPEAKER_00 (01:47):
Worldwide.
Wow.
Yes.
SPEAKER_01 (01:50):
Where's your
corporate office based?
SPEAKER_00 (01:51):
We have a corporate
office on the East Coast in
Quakertown, Pennsylvania.
Okay.
West Coast is in Brea,California.
SPEAKER_01 (01:59):
Okay, great, great,
great.
SPEAKER_00 (02:01):
And then we have
multiple countries around the
world where we have offices.
SPEAKER_01 (02:05):
That's great.
Now, let me just ask you thisquestion about operations.
What problem does your companysolve for technicians or
healthcare facilities?
SPEAKER_00 (02:17):
Well, for healthcare
facilities, Dexys offers a
digital ecosystem with anall-in-one AI-powered platform.
This combines our 2D and 3Dimaging as well as intraoral
scanning and diagnostics.
It makes treatment planningeasier.
It increases the workflow forthe office.
(02:37):
And just overall is a betterdiagnostic tool for
practitioners as well as patientcare.
SPEAKER_01 (02:43):
Awesome, man.
So AI.
So how does AI come into playwhen with the equipment like
does it make it faster or itdoes?
SPEAKER_00 (02:53):
AI helps the day run
smoother for the patient and the
provider by doing multiplethings.
First of all, from a staffperspective, when you're taking
images or something, the AI willautomatically identify teeth and
mount x-rays.
And these are things that taketime for the staff.
And then in addition to that, italso helps identify pathology
(03:14):
within the patient's dentitionto uh increase the production
and the case acceptance for theoffice.
SPEAKER_01 (03:20):
Right.
So AI is not replacing thetechnician.
It's more or less assisting ormaking their job more
proficient.
SPEAKER_00 (03:28):
Correct.
SPEAKER_01 (03:28):
Okay.
SPEAKER_00 (03:29):
AI didn't go to
dental school.
SPEAKER_01 (03:32):
Some people would
think they did.
SPEAKER_00 (03:35):
They still need that
practitioner.
SPEAKER_01 (03:37):
Okay, great, great.
That's good to hear because alot of people are afraid that AI
is going to replace them.
SPEAKER_00 (03:42):
I don't think that
in this case it will be anytime
soon.
SPEAKER_01 (03:45):
Oh, okay.
Now, how does your equipmentmake installation and
maintenance easier forpractitioners, doctors,
technicians?
SPEAKER_00 (03:54):
Yeah.
So DEX is pretty unique, I feel,in our support system for our
offices.
First of all, right from theget-go, we offer a 60-day
guarantee.
If you're not happy within 60days, then you know, we don't
give you any hassle.
We will return that equipmentfor you.
And then on the on the otherside of that, there is also a
(04:16):
contract.
With one contract, we canwarrant put all of your
equipment on a warranty, whichmakes that much easier for
offices as well.
One of the things I think ismost valuable as far as
maintenance and installation isa lot of manufacturers don't
have the ecosystem that we havein that regard.
(04:37):
So when someone purchases theirequipment from us, we are a
whole team behind them.
It starts with their sales rep,but then their sales rep has
this support team, which is ourteam, to help them.
And we have across the nation,we have 26 service technicians
that are experts in ourequipment.
(04:58):
We have over 21 trainers, regional clinical trainers, who
come in and train you on all ofthe equipment.
And then we also have TexasConnect, which is where that
equipment can let us knowwithout you maybe even knowing
that there's a problem and wecan be proactive in prevention
for you.
SPEAKER_01 (05:17):
Wow.
So it's like remote monitoring, pretty much.
Yes, yes.
Oh, that's great.
Okay.
So you and Charlotte, this isyour first time in Charlotte.
SPEAKER_00 (05:27):
Yes.
SPEAKER_01 (05:28):
Yeah.
So you're at the summit.
Now, what are you showcasingtoday at the summit?
SPEAKER_00 (05:34):
So one of the things
is that's really exciting for us
is we just launched our newestscanner.
It's called the Imprevo.
It works with ScanFlow 2, whichis an uh increased, more robust
version of our original scanflow.
It's faster.
It's uh more ergonomic for theclinician and more comfortable
for the patient.
(05:56):
It does a really good job withuh soft tissue scanning, which
can often be difficult.
And it has a 25 millimeterdepth, meaning that you can get
more of the structure right fromthe tooth surface when you're
scanning.
SPEAKER_01 (06:10):
Okay.
Maintenance on this unit, because of course we're at a
maintenance per se summit.
How is it as far as a technicianworking on this equipment?
SPEAKER_00 (06:20):
Is it It's pretty,
pretty cut and dry, honestly.
I mean, one of the nice thingsabout Texas equipment is their
workhorses.
However, should you need anyoneto come in, you can call our
tech support and we couldoftentimes just remote into the
unit and help you remotely.
Should you need, should they notbe able to do that, they would
(06:40):
then dispatch a technician andwe would come out live and see
what's going on.
SPEAKER_01 (06:44):
Okay.
What trends do you see shapingthe industry in the next few
years, if you had to say?
SPEAKER_00 (06:51):
Well, of course, we
already discussed AI, right?
Yes.
AI is everywhere.
So I think AI is going to have ahuge influence on our industry
and all other industries.
And then technology in general.
And technology is alwaysevolving.
The really nice thing aboutDexis is we're always on the
forefront of that evolutionprocess and looking for ways to
(07:13):
enhance practices and patientcare and workflow and put a lot
of time and energy into thatresearch and development.
So I think a combination of AIand just increased technology
evolution.
SPEAKER_01 (07:28):
Great, great.
Well, I appreciate your time,Jerry.
Anytime you want to come back onHTML Online, you're more than
welcome.
SPEAKER_00 (07:35):
Thank you for having
me.
SPEAKER_01 (07:37):
That was the first
episode in our special four-part
series from the Uptime ServicesDental Summit in Charlotte.
But that was only the beginning.
Tomorrow, I'll bring you my sitdown with Toot Nower and Dental
(07:58):
Collective.
Two groups that are provingcollaboration is the new
currency of growth in thisindustry.
You won't want to miss it.
