We don’t like to forgive because we feel like we are letting the person off the hook for their actions, words, or attitude.
"I was nice to this person," "I was there for this person." Betrayal runs deep and makes us feel justified in imprisoning this person in our cage of unforgiveness. The problem with holding hostages, keeping someone caged, is that we become prisoners ourselves.
What forgiveness is not is a set-up for you to continue to allow strife in your life, be abused, be disrespected, or be a doormat.
