Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey friend, thanks
for listening to.
I'm Hormonal.
This is episode number 105, andI'm so excited that you've
joined me today.
This is an episode that I puttogether just for you,
especially for you, if you are awoman in sales and you want to
understand how you can work inalignment with your hormones, so
that everything comes a littlebit more naturally to you.
(00:22):
Now, if you are not a woman insales, don't worry, this is
still applicable, transferable, because we are all meeting with
people, we are all having somesort of administrative work to
do, we are all trying to figureout what's the best time to do
some long-term planning.
So, hey, stick with me, even ifyou're not a woman in sales.
(00:43):
You can check out the link inthe show notes.
I would love it if you grabbedthe guide that goes along with
what I'm talking about today.
This guide is called UnlockPeak Performance a guide to
hormone health for women insales, and it is going to be a
really good free resource foryou to have, along with the
content that we are going to bechatting through today.
(01:05):
So today, of course, is a miniepisode.
We're going to just jump rightinto it and I really am just
going to be going through themain takeaways from Tuesday's
episode earlier this weekbecause, hey, sometimes we need
to consume this information injust a bite-sized nugget.
So here we go, and I guess, before I say that, I just want
(01:25):
to consume this information injust a bite-sized nugget, so
here we go, and I guess, beforeI say that, I just want to say
welcome again and thank you somuch for listening.
I know you guys have so manyoptions, but it has been really
fun to see the podcast, or tosee you guys listening to the
podcast, more especially overthe last two, three months, I
think.
So I just want to say I see youand thank you so much.
(01:46):
Okay, now let's jump in.
So we're going to walk throughthe four phases of the menstrual
cycle menstrual phase,follicular phase, ovulatory
phase and then luteal phase andidentify what are the activities
that are best for each.
So, starting off with themenstrual phase, this is the
time when you are on your period.
This kicks off your cycle withcycle day one and during this
(02:10):
time, when estrogen levels andprogesterone levels are at their
lowest throughout the entirecycle, this is going to set you
up to probably feel mostinclined to reflect, to review
on the previous month or yourprevious cycle.
And it also is a time when youare naturally going to be more
inclined to be setting goalsright, setting goals for the
(02:31):
upcoming cycle, for the upcomingquarter, whatever it is that
feels aligned for you.
But doing this kind ofreflecting, reviewing where to
go from here, that's what'sgoing to be most natural.
Reviewing where to go from here, that's what's going to be most
natural.
Also, right, if you're workingin sales and you travel, then
maybe this is a good time to say, okay, let me spend this time
(02:53):
organizing my travel for nextmonth or for the rest of the
cycle.
How can I plan to travel to seecustomers, if able, during the
middle of my cycle We'll getthere in just a second.
But planning internal review, updating of documentation, maybe
that's what's going to feelbest for you around that time.
(03:15):
Next, the follicular phase.
This is going to be the besttime for you to do some kind of
creative problem solving, tostart brainstorming, to start
reaching out to new clients.
Maybe you are well continuingto travel, just getting out
there, right.
As estrogen levels go up duringthe follicular phase, you're
(03:37):
going to feel like more outgoing, more like being with people.
Right, estrogen is the hormonethat helps us feel like, hey, I
want to get out there, I want tobe seen, I want to talk.
So that's what's going on inthis phase.
This would also be a greatphase if you you know, if you
maybe lead kickoff calls orproposal calls with your
(03:58):
internal team and you canschedule them during this phase,
then you're going to be ingreat shape.
Maybe a good opportunity tomentor some of your teammates or
just again start connectingwith clients.
That's when it's going to feelprobably the most easy and
natural going.
Now I want to remind you thatcycle syncing this is going to
(04:20):
really be the most juice for thesqueeze.
If you have a cycle that isalready pretty well aligned,
pretty well balanced, cyclesyncing is not a tool that is
going to help you necessarilybalance your hormones.
If there is something out ofwhack or if you are not
ovulating, it isn't going to bethe tool that is helping you to
(04:42):
start ovulating.
Uh, grammar, it's not going tohelp you start ovulating again
necessarily.
So just remember that it maybe.
If you're listening and yourcycle is unpredictable right now
or it is MIA, then just keepthis in the back of your mind
for in the future, or use it asa good template to say, okay,
(05:06):
well, let me just try somedifferent things and let me
really reflect on does this feellike it's coming naturally to
me?
Do I feel resistant towardsthis task or this activity?
And that's actually somethingthat any of you can do,
regardless of your cycle status, because it really is all about
(05:28):
what's coming natural to me,what feels in alignment with my
energy levels, with my skills, and you see where I'm going with
that.
Okay, let's move on next to theovulatory phase.
This is going to be thoseprobably four days in the middle
of your cycle, around the timewhen you ovulate, and this is
best for all of that.
Good, high energy, in-personpitching, closing deals, like
(05:53):
high pressure conversations, ormaybe you have to have tough
conversations if you manageother sales folks and you need
to do some tough love.
Mentoring Could be a good timeto do interviews, whether you're
interviewing for a job yourselfor interviewing others.
And then, last but absolutelynot least, when it comes time
(06:17):
for you to talk to your manager, talk to whoever it is about
your raise and about yourcompensation.
That would be absolutely dopeif you did that around your
ovulatory phase, because, again, that's naturally going to be
the time when you did thataround your ovulatory phase
because, again, that's naturallygoing to be the time when you
are feeling like you are thestronger or strongest
communicator, like you have theconfidence to say what you want
(06:41):
to say.
So negotiate your raise andnegotiate it during your
ovulatory phase.
Fourth and final, we're going totalk about the luteal phase.
This is the phase when you aregoing to naturally feel inclined
to kind of wrap things up right.
Progesterone is the mainhormone during this phase.
Progesterone is going to end uptapering off at the end of your
(07:04):
cycle.
That's what causes your periodto start.
Once your hormone levels goback down I say that to say,
towards the end of this phaseyour energy levels are going to
be going down too, so you maynot feel like you really want to
be in person or you really wantto be traveling Again.
If you don't have the ability tocontrol exactly when you travel
(07:25):
, exactly when you meet withcustomers, then no pressure, no
stress.
You don't have to use this assomething to hold you back or
something to be, I don't know,like.
I wish I could.
I wish I could work inalignment with this.
I would definitely encourageyou to use it instead as a tool
to help you get to know yourself, get to understand what are
(07:46):
your own patterns and when doyou get the most joy out of
different tasks that you havecoming up for you.
So anyway, luteal phase you arewrapping things up.
You are also maybe going tofeel most inclined to be doing
revising and editing ofproposals or write-ups that you
have, because during the lutealphase, that's when you might
(08:07):
have a little bit greaterattention to detail.
So I hope that all of this gaveyou some good food for thought.
So I hope that all of this gaveyou some good food for thought.
Hopefully this will help you toA navigate your next month and
months of work.
If you are in sales or whateverarea of whatever career field
that you're in, there should besomething here that you can
(08:30):
really grasp from and transferover.
I would definitely encourageyou to put a reminder on your
calendar for your expected dateof ovulation and your expected
first date of your period sothat, as you are planning for
your travel, as you're planningfor your future self, you have
those little reminders there, because I mean, I talk about
(08:50):
periods all the time.
This is my jam and, off the topof my head, I can't even
necessarily tell you when is thenext day my periods would start
.
So don't leave it up to chance.
Don't leave it up to like okay, well, hopefully this will work
for me, but this should be atool for you to advocate for
your future self be able to doyour work in the way that feels
(09:13):
the most aligned, feels the mostproductive, and I'm really
excited for you to see how thisimpacts the way that you feel
about your work and the resultsthat you create.
So that's all I've got fortoday.
