Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Eula Ware's Fun Breakfast Jade and Damien gon Wave

There's one that's just right for you. Over the weekend,
my family and I were lucky enough to head to
Events Cinema and Sheelle Harbor to watch a little preview.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Screening Advanced screening Fancy.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Very excited about this one too, because it was from
one of my favorite authors. Actually, Oh, I love the book,
Jasper Jones. We just read it in book club like
last year, and the same author has written this children's
book that it's a favorite of my seven year old
are when it's called Runt, even by Craig Sylvie. Okay, Now,
the book in and of itself is great. It's just
been turned into a movie. In fact, Craig Sylvie has

(00:43):
actually written the screenplay, so the actual author has written
the screenplay, and that is what we watched on the weekend, myself,
my husband Milcoe, the four kids, my mom, Mamma Jude,
and we absolutely loved it. I liken it to a
modern day babe film in the sense that there are
a lot of animals in it, there's some amazing actors
in it, and it's just its top notch when it

(01:05):
comes to Australian cinema. Well, you're talking about amazing actors. Yes,
we happen to have one of the amazing actors on
the phone right now.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
We're talking about the one only Deborah Millman. Good morning,
good morning. That is the most beautiful thing you could
say about the film. And I'm so glad you loved it.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Oh, we absolutely did. Oh my gosh, I mean I
was laughing. I was crying, not gonna lie, I did cry.
She could cry. Can I just say it was totally
unexpected because I'm just going along, going, oh, this is
such a beautiful film. It's just really nice, nice and
warm and fuzzy, and I just love it's got the

(01:41):
it had of the Australian kind of twists. I think
we have this unique ability to make films very Australian.
I don't know if that's the right word, but it
kind of likened it to bame, even with like the
costumes that people on, the clothing people wore, and the
names in the film, and it was quite whimsical. I
really loved it. And then all of a sudden, I'm

(02:02):
balling my eyes. That goes.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
It's also quite emotional, it's raining.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
She's picking up.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Don't be given, don't be given anything away.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Oh okay, well we'll dev look I didn't get to
check it out, okay, And for all those who are
listening right now, but what is ront about.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
It's about eleven year old Annie Sharer and her best
friend Runt, who's an adopted stray dog. Annie has a
plan to save the family's farm, which is being threatened,
by entering Runt into the local agility course competition with
the hopes of being invited to the big prestigious dog
show in London, which comes with a quarter of a
million prize money. So that's the story. But of course

(02:39):
it's not that easy.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Oh of course, okay, okay, well okay, so this is
this is a family movie, but it's got the ups
and downs, trials and tribulations that they've got to go through.
Deborah for you, okay, we've known you for years and
years and years, and so many many heavy dramas. Movie
dramas start with the Secret Life of Us. That was
my favorite growing up.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
I watched that in Ireland.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Did you yes, I did. I did. I watched it
in Ireland. There you go. Wow. I hope you guys
knew that it was on in Ireland.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
That's good to know.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
How did you find working in this movie with a bunch.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Of kids divine? I mean, as Jade mentioned earlier, you know,
it has all the elements of a great film in
terms of heart, soul, humor. It's uplifting and it's just
as Jay was saying, She's got that sort of whimsical
element and look of the sort of film. And I
just loved it. I mean, I'd play the role of Bernadette,

(03:38):
who's the former Dullity course champion, and little Annie comes
to seek my advice in terms of how to help
Runt be as successful as he possibly can within the competition.
So my character is a little bit of a clue.
She shied away from the sport, she's not really loving
it anymore, and it takes Annie to sort of draw
her back into it. So it was gorgeous. Like Lily

(03:58):
who plays Annie, she's just the most gorgeous young actress.
She's a star on the rise. And of course you
know got dogs. I love I'm a dog. I love dogs.
What did I just say, I'm a dog. I'm a
dog loves.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
You've got to make sure you go check it out.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Ron.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
It will be in cinemas this week quickly before you go, Dave,
you've got two kids, what do they think of the film?
Because your kids are your biggest critics, Like my children
will often tell me, like one of them, my Lily,
my ten year old, she's down syndrome, but she's a
great dancer, but won't let me dance with her because
she thinks I'm terrible. So your kids can your kids
can come out and they are brutally honest. What did

(04:36):
your two children think of the movie?

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Well, they haven't seen the film yet and they're teenagers now,
they're like, well, you know what the eldest ones and
he hates see a year. Look, I'm taking them. I
don't care if that don't want to go, I'm dragging off.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah, there you go. That's it. You're coming and you
will enjoy yourselves. You will have a good time.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
You will enjoy it.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
You'll be here.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Not you'll enjoy it, but I think will you know,
like I'm like you're saying, I think it can be
any age to really enjoy this film.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Well, Deborah, it was a fantastic film. Be congratulations to
you and everyone involved, and hopefully we see many more
films like this and support the Australian movie industry and
the arts in general because we've got so many talented
people here and we need to get behind things like
Runt to ensure that we get many more things made
within our country.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Thank you for saying that, Sorry, I'm on a rock
to she's smashing it here, you smashing it. It's coming
from everything's down. You're saying, we'll send

Speaker 1 (05:38):
You over some audio and you can just leave
