ワシントン州日米協会、SmallBusiness Bitesの第84回は、「ワシントン州で調理済み食品の売上税が非課税になるかも？」です。
先週からお届けしている、ワシントン州議会で議論されている法案の１つにHB 1340 Exempting prepared food from sales taxがあります。ワシントン州でPrepared food、つまり調理済み食品の売上税を免除する法案です。
現在ワシントン州法では、ほとんどの食料品はretail sales tax、小売売上税が免除されています。ただし、この法律では「Prepared food」、「ソフトドリンク」、または「dietary supplements栄養補助食品」は免除されていません。これらの「食品」を販売する企業は売上税を徴収する必要があります。さらに、すべてのアルコール飲料は小売売上税の対象となります。
