先週お届けしたワシントン州議会で議論されている法案HB1340 Exemptingprepared food from sales tax、Preparedfood、つまり調理済み食品の売上税を免除する法案について話していた時に、キャンディについてのタックスって、州によって違う、ということを発見しました。
キャンディの定義が州によって違うからです。
その定義の違いが、キャンディに関する課税を
・キャンディーとその他の「食品及び食品原料」に同じ税金が課される州
・キャンデイーは他の食品や食品原料とは異なる課税を受ける州
・キャンディーに全く課税されない州
・そもそも売上税がないので課税されていない州
の４つに分けています。
