ワシントン州日米協会、SmallBusiness Bitesの第90回は、「Joann閉店に伴う実店舗ビジネスの可能性とディスカウントサイト詐欺」です。
記事や手芸用品を販売するJoannが、１月１５日に２度目のチャプター１１、再建型破産手続きを開始をし、アメリカ全土にある800店舗全店舗を閉店するというニュースが２月の半ばに流れました。我々の生活の中で、Joannを知らない人はいないのではないか、というほど大きなチェーンでしたし、今後どこに買いに行けばいいの？といった声があるなか、現在Joannの店舗では最大50％オフセールを開催しています。
そんな中、先日3月5日に、Joannが突如公式サイトからオンライン販売をすべて取りやめました。それは、Joannを語った詐欺業者の横行が後を絶たないことで、Joannとしても収拾できないと判断したからだそうです。
こうしたBrick and Mortar Business、つまり実店舗型ビジネスの倒産が最近相次いでいます。オンライン型ビジネスの台頭が大きい中、この先こうした実店舗型ビジネスが生き残ってゆくには？
そして、冒頭のJoannオンラインストアの詐欺についてもお話しします。
