Speaker 1 (00:00):
Do you believe that setting clear and challenging
goals can boost performance byup to 90%?
Guys, when you improve yourgoal setting strategies, you
contribute to your personal andprofessional growth, which is
essential for progressing onyour journey to success.

(00:22):
Hi everyone, my name is Fabiofrom Journey to Success, and
welcome.
Today, guys, we're going toexplore why goal setting is
fundamental to achieving yourdreams.
We're going also to dive intocommon obstacles that can get in
the way, like procrastination.

(00:43):
That can get in the way, likeprocrastination, fear of failure
, the struggle of navigating bigchallenges, changing habits and
even losing sight of your why.
Understanding these barrierswill help you how to reach your
goals.
But before we go forward, asalways, please subscribe.

(01:05):
So I know this is the rightdirection to lead you, to drive
you, to guide you towards yourjourney to success, and let's
get started, as always.
So first of all, let's discussthe common difficulties people
face when trying to seteffective goals.
We all have dreams we want toachieve.

(01:26):
All right, but it can bechallenging to know when to
start.
When you set a goal, guys, right, it is something in your
brain, so it's actually just anabstract thought in your mind.
Then, of course, if you put theright effort, the right

(01:48):
dedication, it can finallybecome tangible and achievable.
Okay, this transformation isfascinating, in my opinion,
since it represents makingdreams come true.
You know, and for many people, this process can be intimidating

(02:08):
, and I understand that.
So today I would like tohighlight six of the biggest
challenges to setting goals andtaking daily action, along with
tips on how to overcome them aswell.
Along with tips on how toovercome them as well.
The first challenge is, for sure, the unclear goals.

(02:30):
Okay, imagine you are in Europe, enthusiastic to embark on a
road trip.
You know.
You get in the car and decideto visit your favorite vacation
spot, let's say Spain.
However, during your journey, you realize you would also like
to see France, let's say Paris, paris.

(02:53):
Then, halfway, you startthinking it would be better to
visit Italy, my country, becauseyou love the food All right,
italy, my country, because youlove the food All right.
Eventually, you become stressedand overwhelmed because you
know you cannot decide and atthe end of the story, you just

(03:15):
go back home to your comfortzone.
This example, this scenario, perfectly shows what having
unclear goals looks like.
It looks a stupid example, right, but this is what happens
in our brain.
So it can happen when chasing adream or any type of goal.
Another example close to us isif your goal is to grow on

(03:39):
social media.
I like to pick up every timethis kind of example because
it's the modern example you knowwhen we talk about social media
.
So you might initially focus onInstagram, then feel tempted to
try TikTok, then YouTube, and, before you know it, you're
trying to use all of them, eventually achieving nothing.

(04:02):
So to prevent this, it's crucialto define your goals in a clear
way, so break them down intosmaller, achievable targets we
always talk about it and createa timeline with actionable steps
.
Adjust them along the way, trying to stay focused and avoid

(04:22):
distraction that could slowyour progress.
The way, trying to stay focusedand avoid distractions that
could slow your progress.
Also, developing and stickingto a daily or also weekly plan
with priority tasks is extremelyhelpful for staying motivated
and organized while workingtoward your goal and later on,

(04:44):
you have more time to enjoy yourlife.
Right, for example, first day ofeach month, I plan my episodes
for the upcoming month, choosingtheir title and content.
This is my personal example,right.
So days two, three, four andfive, and sometimes six,
depending on the month, arededicated to preparing each

(05:05):
episode via writing.
A week later, I put my wordsinto action by recording them
and preparing an article resumedfor my Substack website with AI
and you know, in this modernera, we always have to get all
the help we need.
Guys, and I'm finding AIinteresting when I have to make

(05:26):
a reassume of my entire script.
Ideally, I accomplisheverything within 10 days, right
, but life is unpredictable.
I accept that.
So we are all human beings.
An expect challenge will alwaysappear, so ideally eastern days
, let's say this way, uh, but atleast I have a clear roadmap in

(05:50):
my, in my brain, so, and I cannavigate with it.
This was the first point, andunclear goals the point.
The second challenge is theprocrastination.
Right, all the people talkabout procrastination First of

(06:11):
all.
So let's see if we can addsomething interesting.
Anyway, first of all, you don'tneed to be 100% ready.
This is the first mistake manypeople make.
We plan, discuss, talk, analyze, dream and brainstorm, but over
the years, we often findourselves in jobs we don't enjoy
, living lives we never wishedfor, and feeling unhappy with

(06:36):
our situation.
What if you could change thistoday?
Perhaps the best strategy foryou is just to take small steps
to build momentum.
Even small efforts, such asreserving 15 minutes or one hour
a day, can make a bigdifference.

(06:57):
You know that.
However, we also have toconsider that staying consistent
can be challenging.
No one really talks about it.
It's easy to say, you know, onehour a day, 15 minutes a day.
The truth is that it can bechallenging sometimes.
So it's easy to advise othersto build momentum and start

(07:20):
small, but without the rightmindset, it becomes difficult to
follow this concept as well.
So what I recommend as well isa strategy I call the ticket
strategy.
So design 10 tickets foryourself using any kind of

(07:41):
designing tool like Canva, printthem out and treat each ticket
as a voucher for three hours ortwo hours or one hour.
You know, of course, what isthe best that suits your.
You know your dedication timeand dedicate anyway this ticket

(08:07):
to your work, so to your project.
Number three fear of failure.
Where should I start?
Fear of failure, first of all.
Of all, fear of what?

(08:30):
Fear of failing?
Really, the worst that canhappen is that you get up and
start again, again and again, until you achieve whatever you
want to accomplish.
That's it, anyway.
I don't want to be banal onthis.
Okay, so let's brainstorm alittle bit.
So let's brainstorm a littlebit.
No-transcript.

(08:53):
I mean, have you ever heardabout successful people who
achieved great things withoutstepping outside their comfort
zone?
No one.
Take Thomas Edison, for example.
He failed thousands of timesbefore inventing the light bulb.
You know the story, but he saweach failure as a step closer to

(09:16):
success.
Michael Jordan was cut from hishigh school basketball team.
Then we have Steve Jobs, whowas famously fired from Apple.
Walt Disney was told he lackedimagination and had no good

(09:38):
ideas.
Albert Einstein did not speakuntil he was four years old and
often strangled in school, sohis early teachers even thought
he would never amount to much.
Jk Rowling's Harry Pottermanuscript was rejected by
multiple publishers before itbecame one of the most

(10:01):
successful book series inhistory.
Oprah Winfrey was told she wasunfit for television.
Bill Gates' first company, trafalgar Data, was a failure
something I'm sure you don'teven know about, and so on.
So many people, so many guys offailure something I'm sure you

(10:21):
don't even know about, and so on.
So many people, so many guys.
It's not about failing.
You truly fail the moment youstop trying.
That's the reality.
So if you don't stop, you canlearn from your mistakes.
These intelligent mistakesnaturally arise, so take some

(10:42):
time for self-reflection and usethem as opportunities for
growth.
So don't let mistakes stop youfrom, let's say, reaching your
goals okay.
Instead, use them as a steppingstone towards success.
Use them as a stepping stonetowards success.
Number four mind the moment, notthe mountain.
It is important to look at themountain.

(11:03):
All right, we know that yourbig goal, your vision, so you
can motivate yourself toimproving what you're doing.
Looking at your big goal, ofcourse.
However, don't focus too muchon that.
Start humbly with the skillsyou have and improve yourself.

(11:30):
The good news is that you canexpand your abilities moment by
moment, so you have thepotential to gain infinite
skills and knowledge throughstudy, experiences and the
mistakes you make along the way.
This will help you grow andprepare you for the next version

(11:52):
of yourself, guys.
Number five changing habits.
Do you know the phrase?
Old habits die hard.
It may be the true, I mean, whynot?
But there is a way to changeyour habits for good.
And let's say, you want to wakeup early in the morning because
you need to work on a projectthat you cannot do during the

(12:15):
day.
All right, in this case, Isuggest you gradually adjust
your original wake-up time.
For example, if your alarm isset for 7 o'clock and you need
to leave the house by 8 ambecause you have to go to work,
then naturally you don't have somuch time, okay.

(12:37):
So you can start by waking upat 6.30 the first week, then 6
o'clock the second week, thesecond week, 5.30 am the third
week and finally 5 am in thefourth week.
So in this way, you can work onyour project in a consistent
way for two hours each morning.

(13:00):
Another example is if you wantto go on a diet.
So instead of making drasticchanges to your diet all at once
which, let's be honest, isoften inefficient, you can take
a more gradual approach thaninefficient.
You can take a more gradualapproach.
So, for example, if you usuallyeat 100 grams of pasta, you

(13:21):
might reduce it to 90 grams inthe first week, 8 grams in the
second week and 70 grams in thethird week.
You know, additionally, if youexercise every day, it feels
overwhelming, right?
So try starting with threetimes a week instead.

(13:42):
So consistency is key whendeveloping new habits.
But to achieve real consistencyyou need to start slowly, guys.
This is something that reallyno one talks about it.
This is something that reallyno one talks about it.
Lastly, let's talk about theimportance of remembering your
why.

(14:02):
Number six why are you doingthat?
Why are you doing what you'redoing?
What is your reason for seekingthis path?
The moment you gain a clearerunderstanding of your why, you
will better understand yourgoals.
This relates back to the issueof unclear goals we discussed

(14:26):
before in challenge one.
So, while this concept may seemobvious, it's not even for
people who are more experiencedthan we are, including everyone
YouTubers, podcasters, yourfavorite YouTuber Many of them
struggle to comprehend why theirengagement is declining or why

(14:47):
they are losing followers andcommunity support.
The answer often lies in thefading of their original ideas
and goals.
You know, as they evolve andchange, that's absolutely normal
.
But what happened?
Their audience may no longeralign with their new direction.
So this same community canperceive their indecision about

(15:11):
their goals, often even morethan they realize.
So this lack of clarity is onereason why we struggle to make
progress.
Ok, so think like, let's sayagain, a car trip.
Ok, if you forget yourdestination, destination, you

(15:33):
become stuck on the highway, lost and confused, wondering why
you are in the car and whereyou are going.
It's a similar situation whereyou lose sight of your why.
So take a moment to askyourself what is your why?
A study conducted by ProfessorStephen Krauss from Howard
University and Dr Gail Matthewsfrom Dominican University

(15:57):
researched why people oftenstruggle to reach their goals.
The study involves 267 people267 participants aged between 23
and 72 years old, divided intofive groups.
The results guys highlightedthe importance of commitment,

(16:20):
responsibility and, of course, writing down goals for success.
Writing down goals for successthose who wrote their goals were
around 42% more likely toachieve them compared to those
who didn't.
The research also showed thathaving a partner boosted the

(16:42):
chance of success by 78%, whilewhen you tell someone else about
your goal and make a promise tothem, you are much more likely
to achieve it by 95%.
This last point can be scary.
I know because I was hesitant toshare my aspirations as well

(17:04):
with others.
I tried to pursue various goalsin my life, but I never say it
aloud.
Why?
What is the reason?
It's actually fun if I thinkabout it, but the reason is that
I clearly wasn't sure aboutwhat I want to do in my life.
Now I tell people what I wantto do?

(17:25):
Do I want to become aprofessional podcaster?
That's what I want to do.
It's a promise I've made tomyself first and to others, so I
cannot fail and I will not.
Also, things have improveddrastically since I made this
commitment to myself.
But of course, I requestcourage, and I know in the first

(17:48):
person, guys.
You know, my journey towardsfinancial freedom began in my
20s.
I can't recall the exact momentI had this thought, but anyway,
I know some dates.
So my first article on my firstWordPress website was published

(18:13):
on April 5th 2012.
All right, so we're talkingabout 12 years and 10 months
since then.
Kind of 13 years, 13 years.

(18:34):
I remember that my firstarticle was about how to win at
roulette using the black and reddoubling method.
Never do, guys, yeah, never do.
But anyway, that was my firstarticle.
I saw the potential in theinternet and at the time I was
22 years old and I was very, very naive.
Anyway, before writing thearticle, I'm sure I had already
experimented different methods,including multilevel marketing

(19:00):
companies.
Then I continued to exploredifferent opportunities as well.
Before the article, before thedate that I mentioned to you,
and before and after, I try tostudy trading binary option,
various trading bots fromcompanies that turn out to be

(19:22):
scams.
I even attempt to start a webagency and try my luck on Fiverr
.
I've explored so many roadsthat I can hardly remember right
now.
I also launched my podcastthree times, but I ended up
closing twice because I wasn'tconfident in my direction.
So what is the point here, inthis story, this personal story?

(19:45):
Years ago, I often wondered whyit was taking so much long to
succeed.
I understood that successrequires time, but it was taking
too much time, in my opinion, and I reached a point where I
couldn't understand the reasonwhy it was taking so much time.

(20:08):
The truth is, if I had readsuccessful books about mindset
and personal growth, I wouldhave had a significant advantage
and might have already achievedfinancial freedom by now.
But you know what?
It's okay like that.
So I often burn myself with eachattempt like that.

(20:31):
So I often burn myself witheach attempt, and the falls were
always hard.
But yet, as I mentioned, it'spart of the process.
I accept that.
So now I can, uh, uh, teach youif as teaching we're talking
about, since I'm still learning,but let's say I, I can teach
you what I've learned in a waythat you can navigate your path
more smoothly and avoid some ofthe mistakes I made along the

(20:53):
way.
If, um, with mistakes, we'retalking anyway about it.
So, anyway, anyway, long storyshort, there are are many types
of let's call no mistakes, let'scall missteps, but the one that

(21:14):
cost me the most time washaving unclear goals.
That's it Just.
I hadn't an unclear goal in mybrain.
When you lack clarity, it can bedangerous to your progress.
Trust me on this.
Clarify your mind, be like asniper about what you want to do

(21:35):
and then dedicate as much time, energy and resources as
possible to achieve the uniquegoal you have in your mind.
To achieve the unique goal youhave in your mind.
Okay, now let's break this downand summarize the key points we
covered today.
First, we talked about goalsetting and how it's fundamental

(21:59):
for achieving your dreams.
We explored how improving yourgoal setting strategies that is
fundamental is essential forboth personal and professional
growth, helping you progress onyour journey to success.
Then we discuss the commonobstacles.
So people face differentobstacles when they're trying to

(22:23):
see, when they try to reachtheir effective goals.
Okay, so these includeprocrastination, fear of failure
, of course, the challenge ofnavigating big tasks, changing
habits and even losing sight ofyour why.
So understanding these barriersis key to achieving your goals,

(22:48):
guys.
Next, we focus on the importanceof having clear goals.
So without clear, well-definedgoals, you can feel lost or even
overwhelmed.
For example, if you don't knowexactly where you are going on a
trip, you might get distractedand achieve nothing.

(23:11):
So we talked about how to breakdown your big goals into
smaller, actionable steps tostay focused and on track.
After that, we coverprocrastination.
We discussed how waiting forthe perfect moment can hold you
back.
It's important to start withsmall steps to build momentum

(23:33):
instead.
So I share with you the ticketstrategy that is fundamental to
allocating time for focused work.
You don't need to be 100% ready, just get started right.
Then we moved on the fear offailure.
I pointed out that failure ispart of the learning process.

(23:55):
We looked at examples ofsuccessful people like Thomas
Edison, michael Jordan, steveJobs and JK Rowling, who all
faced failures but used them asstepping stones to success.
I remind you that failure isnot the end.
It's part of the journey.
We also discussed the conceptof minding the moment, not the

(24:21):
mountain.
So it's essential to focus onsmall daily actions that
contribute to your bigger goalrather than getting overwhelmed
by the size of the mountainahead of you.
So small improvements, guys, small improvements over time,
lead to significant progressOkay.

(24:42):
Next, we address changing habits.
I gave examples of how togradually shift habits, like
waking up earlier or changingyour diet.
So it's about consistency andstarting small to make lasting
change.
And lastly, we explored theimportance of remembering your

(25:07):
why.
Knowing why you are workingtoward the goal is crucial.
So without clarity of purpose, guys, it's easy to get lost or
distracted.
Remember that.
So understanding your why keepsyou focused and helps you push
through difficult times.
Okay, you push throughdifficult times.
Okay.

(25:28):
We also talked about a study byProfessor Stephen Krauss from
Howard University and Dr GailMatthews, and I share also my
own personal story too, mentioning how I started my
journey to financial freedomback in 2012.
That's a wrap for today.
I just want to make a bigre-esm and stay focused, of

(25:53):
course, and keep setting cleargoals and remember that every
step counts on your journey,guys.
All right, now I would love tohear from you, as always, what
is the biggest challenge youhave faced when setting and
achieving your goals, whetherit's overcoming procrastination,

(26:14):
dealing with the fear offailure or staying focused on
your.
Why drop in the comments orsend me a message.
Let's share our experiences andlearn from each other as we
grow together on this journey.
Thank you so much for being inhere on Journey to Success.
Keep setting those clear goals, guys, taking small steps and

(26:35):
stay committed and I'll see youin the next episode.
Cheers.
