Tara Shannon Joins Music Legend Jim Ed Norman At Capital Music Week

News Release: Acclaimed Canadian recording artist and songwriter Tara Shannon will take the stage at the National Arts Centre on May 20, 2025, as part of Capital Music Week, joining legendary music producer Jim Ed Norman for an exclusive evening of conversation and performance.

Presented as The Producer’s Chair with Tom Power, this special fireside-style event
features an in-depth interview with Jim Ed Norman—former CEO of Warner Nashville,
recipient of the Bob Kingsley Living Legend Award, and the producer behind Canadian
music legend Anne Murray—followed by a live musical set from Tara Shannon.

The discussion will offer a behind-the-scenes look at Norman’s decades-spanning career and his recent work producing Shannon’s forthcoming album, Cover Story.
Recorded in Nashville and produced by Norman, Cover Story reimagines iconic songs by Canadian female artists who shaped Shannon’s own journey. With fresh arrangements and Shannon’s signature emotive vocal style, the album is both a personal tribute and a bold celebration of Canada’s musical legacy.
Beyond her recording career, Shannon is a leading voice in Canada's creative sector. She founded Willow Sound Records, a full service agency for independent artists. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Ottawa Festival Network and teaches at Algonquin College. Her work spans mentorship, advocacy, and entrepreneurship, with a strong focus on empowering artists through sustainable industry practices and community-driven innovation.
