Welcome to Broken for a Purpose, the podcast where we explore the idea that our brokenness can be transformed into something beautiful for God's glory. I'm your host, Pastor Carlos A. Morales, and today we'll be looking at the scripture passage Hebrews 4:15-16.
[Reading from Hebrews 4:15-16]
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
This passage tells us that Jesus, our high priest, can sympathize with our weaknesses because he himself was tempted in every way, yet he did not sin. And because of this, we can approach God's throne of grace with confidence, knowing that we will receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
As human beings, we are all broken in some way. We all struggle with weaknesses, temptations, and sin. But the good news is that we have a savior who understands our struggles and can help us in our time of need.
So, what does this mean for us as Christians? It means that we don't have to hide our brokenness from God or from each other. We can come to God just as we are, with all our flaws and imperfections, and trust that he will meet us where we are and help us to grow.
So how can we apply this scripture passage to our lives today? Here are a few things to consider:
First, we can take comfort in knowing that Jesus understands our struggles. We don't have to feel ashamed or alone in our brokenness, because we have a high priest who has been there and can sympathize with us.
Second, we can approach God's throne of grace with confidence, knowing that we will receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. This means that we don't have to try to fix ourselves or earn God's love and acceptance. We can simply come to him with an open heart and trust that he will meet us where we are.
And third, we can extend grace and compassion to others who are struggling with brokenness. Just as Jesus has shown us mercy and grace, we can show that same love and kindness to those around us who are hurting.
Thank you for joining us on this episode of Broken for a Purpose. Remember, your brokenness is not the end of the story. It can be transformed into something beautiful for God's glory.
