What if the thrill of a role-playing game could come to life in a podcast? That’s exactly what Ben Costa and James Parks, the creators of Land of Eem, bring to the table in this personal and fun-filled journey through their own game, joined by their pal Georgie, and published by Exalted Funeral.

In this exciting episode, we dive into the Land of Eem RPG, leveling up and navigating challenges ranging from finding Crazy Urny in a random dungeon to strategizing over a perilous acid pool. Join Galen Dundoogle and Rylee Springle as they tackle the tribulations of Marshgate Mansion, including a harrowing rock climb, the terror of a wood chipper at the bottom of the stairs, and a daring leap over a 15-foot lava flow.

Along the way, an unexpected ally—a Medicine Maker—joins their quest, and the group faces off against a formidable foe: the liger shark, in an unforgettable encounter that blends strategy, humor, and high stakes.

This episode is more than just a game—it’s a quest for survival and triumph, all wrapped up in the charm of Ben, James, and Georgie’s personal take on their beloved creation. Hosted by the trio, this Indie TTRPG Podcast is perfect for fans of Fantasy Actual Play, Collaborative Storytelling RPGs, and Rules-Light Indie RPGs.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alright, welcome back .
Hey, here for the 12th session, the land of EM RPG Happy.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Saturday everyone, you know I just realized that
that means that our Halloweenepisode is going to be 13.
That is kind of spooky.
I love that fact.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
I think you guys are gonna die.
Yeah at least one of us.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah, it's just gonna be a party of zone and back.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Just, you all get to share zone and back.
Yeah all right.
How are you all doing today?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Living the dream.
You know, I I've been thinkingabout using some of these
experience points that I have.
I have 21 experience pointsBacked up and I suggest that we
do some leveling.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Let's do it.
Did you guys?
I forget, if we did experiencelast time, we did right, I think
we did.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
What's your experience?

Speaker 1 (01:04):
So now's your chance to trick me in game works right,
I know right.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I don't think we did.
I mean, I thought we got like40 points we didn't get.
I have, like I have total of 39experience that I've gained
over the whole period.
I think I might have forgot torecord a couple because I'm done
like that.
What's your total XP?
My total unused is 21 right now.
Do you know what your total usewith everything is?

(01:28):
I do not.
I don't know, I know I'veupgraded a couple things.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
I'm fairly sure.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
And, like that, all of our viewers have left.
I'm teasing.
It's true, though it's true,let's see.
Yeah, I don't know.
I mean it says I have sixremaining XP.
It's possible that I've spent alot Because I'm level 40, 5 5 4

(02:03):
yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
I was gonna go back and rewatch, which makes me Well
, yeah, either way.
Oh, you're both level four,right?

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
James, have you spent much on yeah, like skills and
stuff?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
And I haven't.
In fact, I let's see, I'm goingto spend some points on skills.
Actually, that's that is myprimary objective at the moment.
I'm going to spend and, let'ssee, nimbleness is the bane of
my existence.
So I'm going to Take that minusone to a plus Seven Plus zero,

(02:52):
and then I'm gonna do it to aplus one by spending six XP
total.
That's the mathematicalequivalent of turning your frown
upside down, you know yeah, yeah, you know what I mean.
So, so I'm gonna do that, whichputs me at 15 hit point, or I'm
sorry 15 XP.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
What are hit points?
I don't, I don't know what theyare.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
I got this thing called courage.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Is that like a surrogate or something you know,
plus one nimbleness which isgonna change everything?
I think I love it and let's see.
And then I am going to Go tolevel five, why not?

Speaker 1 (03:39):
I got, we got party imbalance here.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Oh, wait, a minute, I can't.
I'm sorry.
I'm one XP off, so I'm gonnahold on to it.
I'm gonna.
That's, that's all I'm gonna do.
I'm gonna upgrade my nimblenessso that I've I've got dancers
feet and then Next, next time wegain XP, I will go to level
five.
I'll make the big step becauseI'm one XP shy.
I'm looking at my recorded XPand I'm fairly certain that I

(04:03):
have failed to record for threesessions, because that is who I
am.
So I will go back and watch thetapes and catch up.
I gotta improve my performance,so I'm gonna go back and watch
the tapes.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
So I did something, I updated the quest log.
Okay, yeah, my god.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Oh great, okay, so we can bring everybody up to speed
.
If you're just joining us nowwe are about to engage an actual
play of the land of EAM RPG,the RPG that's inspired by the
world of the rickety, stitch andgelatinous goo graphic novel
series.
And let's take a moment, let's,where were we?
What's, what's up next?
Let's, let's.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
So you guys are almost dead in the middle of
Marshgate Manor.
Here you are on the map and youwere trying to find the crazy
Ernie Fellow.
I was gonna say the crazy, crazy Ernie, but he's just crazy
Ernie.
He's a trap maker, an inventor, known throughout the Mucklins,

(05:04):
especially among the Dungenearing community.
He's a mastermind.
He's also an idiot savante.
The people of Marshgate aretrying to vie for his you know
skills so they can use hismastermind for their own
purposes.
But he's gone missing.

(05:26):
And you last time went into themanor, encountered any number
of traps was like five or six orseven traps.
Right, we use that, we actually.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
I'm gonna stop you there for saying we actually use
the random dungeon generatorthat comes in the land of EAM
RPG rulebook, and so not to gointo too many details on that,
but the the goal is to get thesemeta currency called keys,
which can help you unlock a doorliterally or achieve a goal.
And If we were able to actuallyfind a mythic horde using six

(06:03):
keys, that we are able to.
But we didn't find crazy Ernie,and so there's a.
There's gonna be some drama atthe beginning of this quest
because George and I, galenRiley, both only have two
courage, I think two out of, sowe're very weak at the moment,
but we're we're armed with some, some new gear and Anyway, sorry

(06:24):
Ben, I just wanted to throwthat in there because it was
cool to use the random generator.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
That's all good, but one thing I did notice when I
updated the quest log.
Here's the old quest log.
I don't know, if you guysgained XP for certain things
like Helping the town ofMarshgate, getting rid of the
thing and driving out gear gar.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Oh, interesting.
Oh, because they're like major, like they got resolved along
the way, but we maybe only didXP for that session, right,
instead of like a more meta XPgame.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
So you're saying like 30 XP.
Yeah, we're gonna tack on twomore XP.
I love it.
And yeah, so you are both inMarshgate Manor.
I think you're at the pointwhere it's like Nighttime.
You would be time to make campin this place.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Okay, we're deep in the manner we're gonna secure
all the entry and exits and andcamp for the night.
I inside this, this mansion.
I use the well crafted lockthat we got in our set to just
lock one of the doors behind us.
It's a great idea.
That's a good idea.

(07:43):
Nice, yeah, we got so many likeitems, lord and after, after
being super under prepared withequipment and items, we got like
a bunch of magical items andmagnificent items.
So I'm I'm feeling pretty goodabout my abilities to to do some
things.
Yeah, we have a man, an amazingmap that we need to use

(08:04):
eventually.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Yes, what was that called like?

Speaker 2 (08:10):
it was mad Miriam's multiple map.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yeah right, I've got that in my inventory, which
gives you plus 90% treasurehunting.
Yeah, it's like a guaranteedmagical item base three times we
can.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
We can use it three times to almost certainly
guarantee a magical item.
And what was the history?
This item, like a, several warshave been fought over it, so
that actually made me nervous.
That like, if anybody found out, yeah, like crazy.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
But yeah, so you guys are making camp.
You'll have to eat and drink ifyou want to gain some courage
back and Nice.
You also have the chance to askeach other some pointed
questions if you feel the need.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Well, let's.
Yeah, I said Galen, I'mstuffing my face while you have.
I have rations still I'm oh, Iwas just gonna ask, like if you
remembered the old crazy Ernieoutlet back in our hometown
before it got destroyed.
They calm crazy because of thescreaming deals, the crazy deals

(09:16):
to sell booby traps and anotherAnother items that are used to
secure the premises.
He's like a super dupersecurity guy.
Yeah, I think, like I rememberevery time I walk past it coming
back from like you know classesand whatnot, I would look at it
and I would walk past the doorand at the door it had one of
these screaming skulls and andlike which is it?

(09:38):
You know typical alarm trap inthe land of aim.
And every time I walk past it,just like these flyery blue eyes
and just howl at me and I wouldbe terrified now to run.
Every time you step on thatlittle mat in front of the door.
Every time I think a crazyErnie like I think of that skull
and then like makes me shudderand I want to run away.
Wonderful finding those skullsin this mansion man.

(10:01):
I hope not.
No, kidding, eat a hot dog.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Tube steak.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
I'm not gonna get you steak the tube steaks are D8,
right, I Don't actually have one, I only have a Wait.
No, I ate all my rations.
Yeah, geez, we got to get somerations, yeah, so, but then the
tube steak is D8, correct?
I Think, no, no, no, I havejust regular rations, so then I

(10:34):
think I eat them.
Yeah, I rolled a two on the six.
Oh oh wait, riley didn't haveanything.
I didn't have anything, it'salright, you know.
Good night.
I Sit there like Stomachrumbling, looking at the fire.
I kind of like chewing.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Let me ask you like does this uh Urk you a bit?

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Riley, here you know yeah yeah, I'm you know that we
do have water, thankfully, andI've been slowly heating up a
mug of it so I can put his handin it while he's asleep, I think
.
I think Galen like had a momentof selfishness because, like
while Riley was asking aquestion, he was just stuffing
rations in his face.
Yep, and I Burp, I shrug and Isay I'm sorry, I didn't realize

(11:24):
you hadn't gotten rations foryourself.
It's okay, we're bound to finda kitchen or something in here,
right, these rich oh gotta eatyou, zona.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
and Bach has found a little patch of dirt and his
Started rooting his feet inthere and he says oh, I'm sorry,
riley, would you like somefresh soil?
You?

Speaker 2 (11:49):
know what on a normal occasion I would.
I would like some fresh soil, but you know I'm feeling okay,
I'll, I'll just, I'll just getsome, get catch some, some shut
eye and and in the morning mayberoot around for some rats or.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
It was very Considerate of Galen not to
share his food it was it was.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
And when he wakes up in a puddle of his own pee, then
Galen.
Galen hears you mumbling aboutEating rats and he kind of like
stirs from his slumber.
He wasn't quite asleep any,since.
Wait, if you were eating rats, but you're a shrimp.
Like how does that work?
Is that Like a close cousin ofcannibalism?

(12:34):
It lives hard and shrem it'slike you got to do.
Yeah too, today's.
Yet there I chew on my hat allnight.
It works.
My drag is a great Helm of liesI.

(13:01):
I just remembered that that wasmy hat, that is what you got.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
So I guess Riley is not gaining any courage tonight.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
No, I'm not getting any courage.
But you know what?
I have faith that we'll findsomething in here.
It's got to be like a kitchen.
You've got to have faith, bigmansion.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Wow, you could spend a key.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Yeah and get.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
To find such things, oh interesting.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Because I think we have two keys right.
Is that where we're at?
I thought do we?

Speaker 1 (13:30):
We spent all the keys , yeah, we spent the whole.
We spent all the keys.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
The last action was the last action.
Yeah, we managed tomiraculously get six keys and we
spent them to find treasure.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Treasure, treasure.
Ok, so the knight passeswithout any interruption,
luckily.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Do I gain hit points?
This is D6.
Yes, yes, you do All right,Galen will go ahead of rally for
everything we do in here andtake the first hit.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
All right To adventure, let's start next.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Yeah, yeah, let's rest and then start exploring
these halls, see if we can findErnie.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
So, to go over it again, the way this works is one
of you make a search, check and, based on your result, you may
get a key and you may encountera hazard, or both, or lose a key
, gain two keys, you know Right,so let's do it.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Georgie, let's do it.
Got a D12 burning a hole in mypocket and it's an 11.
Nice, nice, look at that, lookat that, look at that.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
So that means you would gain a key.
Look at that.
Describe to me what happens.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
So I take back the lock that I had put on this door
, tuck it back in my pocket andI open the door.
It was a very rusty wooden door.
The creak's open and in frontof me I see another wooden door,
no more than a foot away, kindof like how in hotels there's
those two doors between rooms.
I look down at my feet andthere's just a key between the

(15:17):
two doors, a literal key.
Wow, that really worked out.
Yeah, I say yeah, that searchcheck was pretty easy.
And I turn to Riley and I sayyou're up, all right.
I say I think we should maybetry out this way.
Should I have added a questpoint?

(15:37):
Oh, that's a one.
Now the land of EAM begins.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Is that your total?

Speaker 2 (15:43):
The land of EAM gives and takes away.
Oh wait, a minute.
Do I have a?
Yeah, it is my total.
That is a one?

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Oh, no, the land of EAM giveth and the land of EAM
takeeth away.
Yeah, so you lose that key soeasy to find.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Hand.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Yeah, Galen hands me the key.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Yeah, I handed to you and I'm holding it.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
I'm like, yeah, I think we should go this way.
And then Galen says, hey, thekey, and it won't be in my hands
.
I'll just be like I don't knowwhat to do.
I don't know.
I got so excited.
Zona and Buck writes down I sawwhat the key went, but they
have not allowed to affect theircourse of action at all.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Yeah, the footnotes will show it's completely, yeah,
completely neutral party.
All right, roll a D6.
Ok, here we go.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
D6 to.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Oh man, I know I was hoping for like a riddle or
something, but Well, this is amodified rule here, because this
place is only full of traps andriddles.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
There's no creatures to know I got it, that's fair.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Now roll a D100.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
57.
What do we got?
57, come on, let's not be tooperilous.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
You see a large still pool of acid stretching out
before you in a chamber.
It's entirely placid, wow.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
And that's it.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Yeah, I mean basically it's this acid pool
obstacle in front of you.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Lake Placid, but it's PL apostrophe acid.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
There's about 30 feet across that you would have to
navigate somehow.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Oh, it's crazy, Ernie , he does not mess around at all
.
Is there anything floating inthe acid or is it just that's it
Just a flat pool of acid?

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Hey, sorry about that .
Minor technical difficulties.
Oh, disconnected or reconnected?
I didn't hear a word you said,which means you're going to have
to repeat everything on thestream again.
But can you hear me?

Speaker 1 (18:10):
You're looking at a 30 foot acid pool In front of
you.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
A 30 foot acid pool?
Ok, oh, it's waiting for yourreaction.
Yeah, that's a 30 foot acidpool, I take it.
There are no boats that areacid proof.
Oh, can I?
Oh, ok, maybe, maybe, maybe,maybe.
Let's see.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Let me look at my abilities.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
I wonder if we can create something across on the
other side that we might be ableto hit like a drain lever or
something.
Weakness or vulnerability yeah, let me try discerning.
I Ben to create a weakness orvulnerability in someone or
something within a line of sight.
I'm going to say that at thefar edge not the far edge, maybe

(18:58):
like the right edge of the acidpool, about halfway across,
like 15 yards, let's call itthere is what appears to be just
a kind of rusty metal door thatlooks like it would be a drain
mechanism of some sort, andwhile we can't necessarily see
what is going to activate themechanism, we could probably

(19:20):
maybe hit it with a rangedattack and crack it enough to
start draining the acid.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
All right, I like it.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Let's see what we got .
Perception bonus is a plus one, that's an 11.
Nice, you speak the truth.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
I am true speaker.
I do not deceive you, it's true.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
So I think we want to make this happen.
Yeah, I mean, we got some goodstuff, got some darts and a blow
gun A bow and arrow.
Yeah, and a bow and arrow, somaybe we can each take a shot at
it and pray.
Can I inspire Riley?
I'll say I know your stomach'sgrumbling, but you always say

(20:08):
you work better on an emptystomach, so I think you do this.
I'll give Riley a plus two tothe check before it's rolled, so
you can see if I do that.
Oh, I don't it.
Just all it serves to do isremind Riley of the fact that
she's hungry and I've ruinedthings.

(20:30):
I'm really hungry.
Let me I'm going to use I forclues and say that the drain has
a mechanism that's got a biggerarea for me to hit and it looks

(20:54):
like if I can hit right in thatspot it'll break it and the
door will come open just enoughto drain the acid.
I love it.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Go for it, brah Brah, brah, brah 12.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Oh, wow, you know, these are all the good roles
we're going to get, and thenwe're just going to be terribly,
terribly lost.
Well, the acid pool got mespooked.
That's a rough, that's a roughdemise.
We follow that thing.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
OK, give you a plus two to your check.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
OK, I'm going to take a shot with my bone arrow 7.
I do not do it, unfortunately.
I see, maybe I can take a shotwith my oh, what do we got?
What do we got?
We got some darts, it's.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Your arrow plunks into the acid and sizzles into
nothing.
Oof, oof.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
I say, you know, this is reminds me of those times at
the bar.
Let me see if I can hit it withthis dart real quick, because
that's what darts are.
It's completely different thanthat.
That's an 11.
Nice Straight wrist Straightwrist.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Alright, the dart hits the drainage button.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Yeah it looks just like a big target sign.
It looks just like a big targetsign.
It looks just like a big targetsign.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
And all of the acid starts draining into the grate.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
It's amazing because we see, you don't see a lot of
skeletons or anything becausethat was eaten by the acid, but
you see, like suits of armor, Igo and I kind of touch them and
they just immediately crumble, having been eaten by the acid.
But one thing I do notice islittle teeth gold teeth, silver

(23:03):
teeth, from different people whohave fallen through the place.
Just like oh my god yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
Your feet are actually kind of smoking a
little bit as you go across.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
It's like hurrying across smoking feet.
It's like a Looney Tunescartoon, right, I love it.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Alright, you overcame the acid pool.
I have nothing to show for it,unfortunately, but your lives
are intact.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Alright, let me search it up for the next few
days.
Search it, cameron.
Oh boy, oh boy, this is tooquick.
Double one it's going to be along quest, baby.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
Let there be peril.
Fortunately you can't havenegative keys, that's true.
Yeah, roll a D6 and a D100.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
A little known fact there when you go negative in
keys, it actually rolls back 999keys.
So we got a lot of keys.
That's a lot of treasure and alot of crazy yearning.
That's a 3 and a 33.
Triple 3.
It's a lot of 3s.
Doth the land of Eam.
Random generators.
Yeah, smile upon us.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Okay, you exit this chamber and then you see a
spiraling staircase that's goingdownward.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
This is definitely the direction we want to go.
Okay, can we inspect for traps?
I have a terrible feeling thisis going to turn into a slide or
something.
Oh, it's a good idea.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
I would say either make a search or a tinker check,
if you want to, is that in thespirit of things.
Is that okay yeah?

Speaker 2 (24:54):
I got a plus one tinker.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
You want to turn it around.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
Yeah, hold on, gail.
Let me take a look at this.
Let me examine these stairs andmake sure there's no trick
mechanisms or anything Crazyyearning is this wild stuff?
Yeah, 12.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
All right, you can tell that you put pressure on it
a little bit and it's verycreaky, and it also seems like
this is a prime staircase toturn into a slide.
To be fair, I did not look atthe book, it's just like my

(25:43):
classic.
It's a crazy yearning classic.
It's almost like a.
Scooby-doo trap I've seen it ahundred times.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
You can tell the stairs kind of like a little bit
of a trap.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
You can tell the stairs already want to go this
way.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Yeah, okay.
The question is do we triggerthe trap and do I use my slip
and slide championshipproficiency because I'm jack of
all trades or do we try todismantle the trap?
Gailen, what do you think?
Maybe we could use something tolock the lever mechanism.

(26:20):
It's probably like acentralized thing, so all the
stairs tip at the same time.
So I wonder if we can jam upthe works somehow.
You got a 12 on your tinkercheck.
Maybe you're able to seesomething, and then we could gum
it up.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Riley, with your great tinkering you can tell
that the trap probably triggersin the middle of the staircase,
Like the middle of its length.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
I wonder if I could use the unbreakable net and
lower you down to the middle ofthe staircase, Like you know,
like you can hold on to it andI'll anchor up here so you can
get part way down.
If it's impossible, you'regoing to lower me down.
Dispensable trap.
We got a sturdy net.
We're going to as well put itto use.
Okay, I'm down.

(27:11):
Can I add?
Is that the same reason?

Speaker 1 (27:16):
we'll bend.
You probably have to tie ropeto the net To get that far down.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Wait, let me ask you this.
Yeah, I don't have rope.
Ben Costa, master of games.
Master of games, could wepotentially just go over the
trigger step?
Could we avoid the trigger stepand use the staircase?
No, of course not.
Smithers, bring me another 視clip.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
You have a question, can I?
You know, it's not just onestep, you can tell.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
A whole swath of the middle Got it.
Okay, what kind of mundane itemdo we have George?

Speaker 1 (28:04):
I don't have any list of stuff.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
We have a blow gun, we have a string, we have a hook
, we have a falcon, and that'sactually the only, that's all we
have, I mean the lucky rucksack, well-crafted lock, stridding,
that quick, short sword which Ithink you took, I did.
I've got an idea of theWarhammer, like maybe we can
over-trip the trap to the pointwhere we hit a trigger so heavy

(28:31):
that Like it can't reset orsomething, and it can't reset
that, it can't like go offbecause it's meant to be like
triggered, like that, but welike smash it in and we screw up
the whole thing.
Okay, that would do it.
How do you propose we get downto that step, though?
That's a good question.
How about this, ben?

(28:52):
I mean, I could.
I am a jack of all trades, I aman expert rock climber.
I could climb the bricks or thewalls and try to see if I can
get down there.
Yeah, with your new nimblenesscheck, with my new nimbleness
check, I'll check my improvednimbleness.
I limber up, you know.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
I say let's go for that, and I have a backup plan
if it all you know goes to heckin a hand basket.
I'm sorry, hatch, hatch, yeahhatch.
All right, roll it up.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
Okay, so I'm going to roll advantage for climbing,
roll it, roll it, roll it, rollit, roll it.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Nice, I take that nine.
It's a ten right Total.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
A ten total.
I'm going to do Shinny intoposition.
Shinny, I used to say shimmy, but in Rickety Stitch Book 3 got
copy edited into Shinny.
That's really.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Shinny is still a great word.
I like the idea of doing ashimmy.
I've never heard of it calledshinnying.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
I've only heard of shimmying.
Neither have I but the editoris more like a little Shinny is
a thing, I guess.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Wow, that's amazing.
This editor knew one thing Imean they explain it to me 25
times.
I still didn't understand it.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
I refuse, so to stay.
Oh, my God, I mean it's like ayeah, okay, a copy of editors
that does this.
Yeah At the copyright, at thecopyright.
There's many Amazing All right,so you're in position.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
You're in position, I'm in position, all right, so
I'm going to drop the Warhammerfrom the top.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
And kind of see what happens.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
Yeah, and like see if it'll screw up the trap or set
it off.
And then, if it does set it off, we'll just have to figure out
a way to safely go down, becausethis is a tough one.
I can't help but think thatthere's like a meat grinder at
the bottom of the stairs.
We're going to fly through it.
Spike pit, make an attack Allright, I'm going to make an

(31:01):
attack.
All right, that's reasonable.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
Seven.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Seven Respectable Okay.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
You succeed at triggering the trap, but what
happens?

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Oh, I mean, I guess we could lose the Warhammer.
But I missed it a bit.
Yeah, ch obs concerts Figuresup to George, to the step that

(31:44):
George is on, and so like thetop half, but I could recover
farther down.
Does that the idea?

Speaker 1 (31:52):
Yeah, All right, galen, you go sliding.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
Galen.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
Waiting to see what happens at the top.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
He's still.
He found more soil and he'sjust rooted in.
It's like, yeah, I'm not goingto follow this one.
I can actually use lend a handto Roll advantage, to attempt to
catch someone's fall, pull themfrom danger or anything like
that.
Okay, so I'm gonna reach outlike from the wall and try to
lend you a hand.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Lend that hand.
In seven seven, all right.
This would be like a nimblenesscheck.
So eight, eight, all right, andI'll use a you.
You want to use a quest point?
I was gonna use a quest point, yeah, cool, okay, you grab

(32:57):
Galen's hand just before hefalls in.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Gotcha buddy, I look up and I say I'm sorry about the
rations.
Yeah, I say I'm so hungry Idon't think I hold on.
But I'm kidding with him.
And then we both go tumblingdown Into the wood chipper.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Yeah, galen, you can, you know, kind of like Get on
to the the other side, yeah, which is intact and being held
by the lodged Warhammer Zona inbox, casually slides down and

(33:36):
like does a Super Mario jumponto the other side?

Speaker 2 (33:40):
Showing his thus that his neck is vastly superior to
ours.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
Yeah he actually.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Right, super performing high school athlete
before he joined us.
But he only wants to write, sohe wants to.
I'm a chronic player amazing,so I think I rolled that search.

(34:08):
So, ben, was there anythinglike a wood chipper or like a
pit full of spikes to the bottomwe were able to avoid.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
There is a pit and it looks like it's a prison cell.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
Oh, Okay, that's Okay .
Time for a Ben bars lift casecheck.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
Yeah, I think you say it's my turn.
I'm supposed to search.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
It's your turn.
Yeah, all right, rolling a d12Three.
Is that enough to?
I was just a hazard not gettingany keys guys are having a
rough day.
Yeah, yeah, you know, we usedup all our luck in that mega
horde.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Yeah, the price you pay man yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Could have found crazier items.
Yeah, what if?

Speaker 1 (35:00):
you never get out of here.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
Like five stream episodes Can't get out.
We just keep spending keys onwe start to form our own like
internal apocalyptic societythat all just exists inside this

(35:25):
one mansion.
Yeah, seven months go by on theoutside.
This our path.
We have completely conqueredthe mucklins.
Wow, that'd be amazing,terrible alright, d6, d100,.

Speaker 1 (35:39):
you know the drill.
Yeah, I do.
All right, here we go one.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
Wow, I mean yeah you know, it's like a good place to
roll a one and the one hundred54.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
You come across a slow babbling flow of lava that
divide the room easily 15 feetwide.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Easily.
Okay, it's only 15 feet.
I could probably throw youacross With a feat of strength
or something.
No, just yeah, we'll see whathappens Right into the lava.
Meets back on the menu.
So 15 foot across lava.

(36:31):
I wonder how Ben how large isthis?
Sturdy net lengthwise that weown.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
Like any net that you see in a movie that like it's
not like a cargo net, it's likea gladiator net.
Yeah, that's more like sickokay.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Just for my frame of reference gladiator net.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
I glad he made a dream of lava how to get across
this?

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Can I roll for disbelief and just disbelieve
the lava set of things?
What are you playing?

Speaker 1 (37:16):
like second ed D&D here it doesn't exist.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
I don't believe it.
Everything is an illusion.
I don't believe it.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
Everything is an illusion, yeah walk through.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
I'm barbarian.
I don't believe in magic.
I fear magic.
Yeah, I Could use a quest pointand roll the string again.
Yeah, I could do the same Icould.
They could Use I for cluesagain.
I have an idea, for yeah, actually I'm gonna do that.

(37:51):
I'm going to use a quest pointand use I for clues again and
identify that there's three, youknow, pretty big stones that if
we Roll them into the lava,we'd be able to create some
stepping stones for ourselves,to at least make some shorter
leaps across.
Yeah, go for it.

(38:13):
Remind me to upgrade my search.
Oh no, oh, that's bad, that's aone I do not succeed.
All right, I Do find a rock one.
My total is a one.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
I wonder if you see, you see the rocks and they just
like sink into the lava.
Well, just not gonna make itmore painful.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
Oh, it works, we get all three in there.
I mean, in fact, I wonder ifthe lava stream didn't rise a
little bit and get wider, 17feet wide.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
But it's a failure with a plus right One.
No, no this is just because thisis a discerning eye check.
That's right, it wasn't a.
Okay, yeah, fortunately, allright, let me think, let me
think, let me think.
Feet of strength, what's the?
What's the mouth of the Lavastream?

(39:22):
Look like like what's comingout of a wall, I imagine,
because these are all likerandom crazy rooms.
He has Mm-hmm.
So you're like a slew escape,or is there like, how does it?
How does it look?
You describe the Entry and exitholes of the magma, for us
looks like a rocky, like a lowrocky cave.
Okay, is it like flowing in onedirection?

Speaker 1 (39:43):
like I would assume so.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Yeah, yeah, I think I might feed of strength to To
maybe like damage the mouth insuch a manner that it cuts off
the lava stream.
Maybe I can do.
We still have that Warhammer.
I Imagine we were able to knowwe lost it, okay, so let me at
least strike that through.
I throw a dart.

(40:05):
He just right.
Yeah, it's out of.
Yeah, so I'll feed of strengthit with a pod slamer.
Wow, just hurl a pog slammer.
Don't Google a pog slam, I'mgonna spell it the wrong way.

(40:27):
I'm just gonna punch it with mymeaty frog fist.
Hmm, is that?
Is that not?
I Feel like that's a limitedoutcome.
Yeah.
Yeah, so it's a feed ofstrength, but you're not like
the Incredible Hulk.
Yeah, I mean, I would love formyself to be Incredible Hulk.

(40:49):
I'm already green.
I'm just trying to think Idon't really have anything
that's weighty enough.
I do have, it's not.
I have an ingot of Dwimmersteel and I've got a golden
gator gem.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
You could just spend like a few hours or days, you
know, hammering some Dwimmersteel with this lava.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
Yeah, we're both sweating and quenching with the
last of our water.
Finally, I made it a singlehammer.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
Yeah, alright, and let's, let's see you do have
tons of materials, that's true.
I mean, this is like yeah, canyou?
It's a ridgels idea, but maybeit's not so you cobble something
together.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
I could Cobble a quick hit or something.
Wait, did I have a pic?
I have a war pick, I'm sorry.
Oh Well, use that.
Well, you can use that.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
Oh, I said war pig Like the song.

Speaker 2 (41:53):
Yeah, that would have been an amazing discovery.
Well, we would have had baconat this point, right, yeah,
because we're both hungry.
I'll use the war pick.
Uh, that's perfect I in mymighty Feet of strength.
So I kind of wind up, I likelean out a little bit over the

(42:17):
lava and wind up and let's seehow hard I could hit this sucker
.
Is it plus three?
Please be plus three, might, asplus two, six, um, uh feet of
swell.
I can.
I'll do lend of hand and rollit again for him, like oh no,

(42:39):
you got to hit it over here.

Speaker 1 (42:41):
Oh Well, I mean he succeeds with the toe.
Oh, I Am just saying, yeah, risk failing.
I don't know your strength.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
That is true, you could totally might, is it?
I Don't know.
Yeah, I think we could.
Maybe maybe we'll succeed witha twist, and the twist is that
you know it collapses the stream, so it's significantly more
narrow, but we still have tomake a check it across.
Yeah, I think that's the safestway to do it.
I Well, I still gotta make aNimblance check, even on plus

(43:16):
one now.
I'm still terrified of it.
Yeah, it's okay.

Speaker 1 (43:19):
I mean lava is not forgiving.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
Can I end up like Dar , the Beast master, you know,
eaten by lava, not from thefilms, the films.

Speaker 1 (43:32):
Is that like canon death and like other media, like
expanded universe?

Speaker 2 (43:37):
Oh yeah, George and I were playing Conan exiles, and
one of our one of our NPCs wasnamed Dar the Beast master.

Speaker 1 (43:44):
Oh yeah, he was called into lava.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
He was with us a long time, but he didn't make it
anyway.
Yeah, yeah, all right.
So let's both make them to benimble Nuss checks.

Speaker 1 (43:57):
Well, little known fact.
Hmm, Beast master takes placewithin the land of E.

Speaker 2 (44:03):
Wow, oh be helpful to have a Mark Singer a.

Speaker 1 (44:09):
Mark.

Speaker 2 (44:09):
Singer level.
Hero of that caliber to help usleap over this lava, if you, if
you say that he says he doesn'tmake it.
Wow, they say, if you look upin the sky, you can see his
Falcon watching you.
Yes, scar Galen winds up hismighty frog legs and attempts to
make the jump.

Speaker 1 (44:30):
Boing.

Speaker 2 (44:31):
Oh, god bless, that's not good.
Gosh three, baby, he's limp,he's limp.
I will suffer the consequencesof his Wait.
Don't you want to just lend ahand?
Wouldn't lend a hand be abetter idea?
I use another.
I'm sorry, I used to use theconsequences, but the

(44:58):
consequences would be in certaindepth.
Yeah, I use one more questpoint.
I'm down to two.
I have to lend a hand to rolladvantage to catch him.
Oh boy, that's what's your toes?
I, I take the five, but I use aquest point to make it a six.
Oh, God.

Speaker 1 (45:19):
Well, I mean, what's your, your total Like?
What is this?
A nimbleness, or catch him.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
Or is it?
Maybe it might?
Yeah, it's, it's five.
I'm only plus zero.
Ok, so I do use a quest pointto make it a six.
So I'm down to one quest point.
It's like I've used a lot ofquest points in this one
encounter.
Yeah, it's all right.
It's all right.
This is the first time I'veever been down to one quest
point.

Speaker 1 (45:48):
Is this a success or the twist?

Speaker 2 (45:50):
Yeah.
So what's the twist?
You saved me.
I'm still on the same side.

Speaker 1 (45:56):
Well, I mean, that's I would have to happen, you know
, no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (46:03):
I mean I go ahead.
The twist is the momentum.
I have to make the jump likeright away.
But it's oh sure, wow, ok.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
All right, all right.

Speaker 2 (46:18):
Right, you know, can I?
I'm an inspiring, I'm going todo inspiring orders and when
Riley grabbed me, I give like wegrabbed in, like a hero tug
form and like that gives Rileyinspiration.
It works, it works, oh my God.

Speaker 1 (46:41):
OK, that's a two tier check.

Speaker 2 (46:42):
That might All right, here we go, here we go yeah.
Oh, no Plus two Plus two Four,it's not good Even with the four
, even with the quest point,it's only five.

Speaker 1 (47:01):
Well, that's a failure with a plus.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
It's just getting flashbacks to that scene in Star
Wars episode three.

Speaker 1 (47:13):
The plus is you fall in but.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
Galen doesn't go hungry.

Speaker 1 (47:19):
Galen could jump across using your body.

Speaker 2 (47:26):
Whoa, whoa, that's.
Oh, my God Lord.

Speaker 1 (47:32):
You.
You fall in, but Galen can pullyou out, but you're going to
take damage, All right, I usestout heart.

Speaker 2 (47:40):
Oh man, that's the perfect use for it.
Yeah, because stout heartreduces it to one dread.
But my tail is going to burnsomething fierce, Ben, and I'm
going to use the sturdy net tofish out Riley.

Speaker 1 (47:54):
OK, all right, it's indestructible.

Speaker 2 (47:56):
It cannot be broken.
So I would assume yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (48:03):
It's OK.
The plus is that you can easilyget her out.
Ok, but you're still back onthe other side.
Riley, you're at one hit point,I guess I'm at one.
Courage, courage.

Speaker 2 (48:16):
I'm sorry and I'm fully Just.
In fact, I'm going to linger onthat, because who jumped down
my throat when I said hit pointsat the beginning?
Oh my God, ok.
Galen, in a panic, pulls Rileyfrom the lava, looks down at her
and like is shaking her, like, open your eyes, open your eyes.

(48:36):
And I'm running around blowingout my tail.
Yeah, and.
Galen is a little bit teary.
I thought he lost his bestfriend and seeing that Is
basically how I'm going toinspire Riley to gain some
courage back.
So I'm going to use a questpoint and heal Riley for one D6
courage if I make this role.

(48:57):
Oh nice, oh God, I missed byone.
All right, I'm going to use it.

Speaker 1 (49:08):
I'm going to use another quest point.
No, no, no, no, hold on, I knewwe've already committed to this
.

Speaker 2 (49:12):
You're already committed to this.
This is just a terrible no good.
Very, you're going to gain likeone D6 back, and it's probably
going to be a one, so I have onequest point left.
You gain two hit points back.
All right, that's something,though.
Courage, courage, yeah God,what game were you even playing
anymore?
I have three of 14 courage, soI'm feeling a little bit of

(49:36):
dread.
We've been lost in crazyearnings Marshgate mansion.
For a long time.
The traps have been kicking ourbutts.
This is Me to take stock.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (49:49):
You, we have, you've made literally no headway.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
At all.
We've made no headway at all.
The only key we had lost it.
Oh man, oh God, this is awesome.
I feel peril.
Yeah, no, seriously, theadventures of Riley and Galen
are in.
We're in a dangerous situation.

(50:16):
Boy who searches it.
Now I don't even want to.
Well, we still haven't gottenover the.
Wait have we got it.

Speaker 1 (50:26):
No, no, yeah, not got it.
You're still expecting.
That's the thing we haven't.

Speaker 2 (50:30):
We have not gotten over it.
We haven't overcome this likethe single leap required.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (50:40):
There was no time like the present.

Speaker 2 (50:42):
Yeah, it's kind of just leap again.

Speaker 1 (50:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (50:46):
All right, and were we?
Were we getting any bonusesbecause it's in more narrow lava
flow now, or is it just that wethe fact that we can leap
across it?

Speaker 1 (50:56):
Yeah, it's just possible now Okay.

Speaker 2 (51:00):
Yeah, you know, feeling pretty nimble, I think
I'm going to leap across fromlava.
Hey, hey, how wide is the lavabeen?

Speaker 1 (51:13):
Let's say, you know 10 feet.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
Because I'm wondering if, like I could have left
across and Riley could have heldon to a rope when I left.

Speaker 1 (51:23):
I mean what it could have.
Should have meant what it couldhave, should have.

Speaker 2 (51:25):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's, I
mean, I respected, I respect it.
Oh man, this whole time we'rejust like sweating bullets, like
trying to figure this out, andZona in buck just like jumps
across.
We don't even see it happen.
Zona in buck is somehow just onthe other side.
It's just on the other sidejust waiting.
Yeah, okay, the end of ourheroes.

(51:47):
I stand poised on the otherside with a sturdy net ready to
cap Riley like man.
Catch Riley out of the air.

Speaker 1 (51:56):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
I'm I'm going to make my leap now.

Speaker 1 (51:59):
All right, get plus one with Galen on the other side
8, 9.
Nice, nice Made it.

Speaker 2 (52:05):
All right, guys, it's been a hell of a quest.

Speaker 1 (52:11):
Well, you accomplished nothing, yeah.

Speaker 2 (52:13):
Yeah, encountered nothing except for traps.
Do I mean we should do one moreroom?
Oh, no, no, absolutely.
I was just being facetious.
That's fine.
This is this.
Let me.
Let me roll up a search check.
I feel good.
So, for those of you that arejust joining us, we're doing an
actual play of the land of theadventurers of myself, riley,

(52:37):
and we're searching for a lostinventor named crazy Ernie in
this, in the marsh gate manner, which is filled with traps, and
we're doing search checks torandomly generate the dungeon.
And we're doing search checksto randomly generate the dungeon
and we've just accomplished ourthird check in a row, at a, at
a roll of one, which means thatanybody tuning in now is

(52:59):
probably going to watch ourdemise.
Yeah, it's okay, it's.
Might be, it might not be, atraffic, might be a riddle.
Great, great, great.
So you come to a door that's inthe shape of a grotesque goblin
mouth Delicious.

Speaker 1 (53:19):
And it's like locked by its iron teeth.
Looks like the entrance toCrogland.
Yeah, it's like more menacing,if that's possible.
Oh yeah, it's not.
It's not open.
It's like these are the teethand they're locked in it.
When you get close to it, itsays I sometimes slip even
though I'm held.
If you're smart, you'll use me.

(53:41):
Well, what am I?

Speaker 2 (53:44):
I sometimes slip, even though I'm held.
What was the rest of it?
If I'm, if I'm smart, if you'resmart, you'll use me well.
Was that what it is?
Yes, what slips, even when it'sheld.
I feel like it's time.
I always like say it was aboutevery, every riddle is time or

(54:09):
water.
It's held.
Is it a tongue?
Yes, it opens Nice.

Speaker 1 (54:19):
Yes, and like this long red carpet, tongue unfurls.
That's amazing.

Speaker 2 (54:26):
There's, like you see , like little streamers pop, but
they're really.
You've waited and you hear likeyou hear just a quack.
I don't say anything but likeRiley's feeling kind of full of
herself after this and she looksagain and she's like come on,
it's this way.
I turned back to Zoe Zoni andBuck and I give him like a look
like in the office, like Cutaway, cut away to.

(54:52):
Jim, yeah, zoni, and Buckdoesn't write anything, he just
draws my face in the book Jim.
Dundukul.
All right, okay, it's Riley'sturn.
Your first success, oh boy, well, I mean, it wasn't as success,

(55:14):
we just didn't get hurt.
Yeah right, I'm consideringthose successes now All right,
here we go.
Search check.

Speaker 1 (55:21):
Oh.
God really I mean two man.

Speaker 2 (55:24):
this is twice as good as last time.
200% better than our previousrole 100% better.
I'm not a mathematician LikeVera.

Speaker 1 (55:38):
If there were negative keys, you'd be at
negative three keys.

Speaker 2 (55:42):
Yeah, this is incredible.
I mean, I'm actually glad thatwe haven't gained anything D6,
D100.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
Two 81.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
Wow, if we get a key in the next room, we should just
spend it immediately on tryingto find something that will heal
us, just like find the kitchen.
Just find an exit.
Yeah, just leave.
No, no, we're not giving up.
They haven't beat us yet.
If you find like a gardenoutside.
We just like flop into thegrass.
Oh my God, all right, let's trythat again.

Speaker 1 (56:20):
Okay, you see huge lumber pillars that are driven
into a pit and they've got likethe saucer size tops that are
positioned three feet apart fromone another, so it looks like
you'll need to jump to get tothe other side.

Speaker 2 (56:43):
Okay, so I have one quest point left.
So lumber pillar saucer on topProbably unsteady Jump to the
other side.
How many do we have to cross?

Speaker 1 (57:01):
Three of them.
You'll have to make three jumps.

Speaker 2 (57:07):
And what's at the bottom of the pit?

Speaker 1 (57:13):
Darkness Certain doom .

Speaker 2 (57:21):
I'm going to use jack of all trades to give myself
another proficiency.
Nice, because I can do several, actually twice, per session.
Name a specific activity orfacility.
Back home I was a hopscotchchampion Classic, just like goo.

(57:41):
All right, I'm going to jump, all right.
I mean, at least you had a bitlike saw.

Speaker 1 (57:59):
Eight Eight, why is it eight Plus one?
Oh sorry.

Speaker 2 (58:06):
I could use a quest point.

Speaker 1 (58:08):
You.
So once you jump to the firstone, you see that you get there,
but it kind of gets forward.
Yeah, teeters, and you'll needto jump immediately, but you're
at minus one.

Speaker 2 (58:22):
Okay, okay.

Speaker 1 (58:23):
Here we go.

Speaker 2 (58:25):
It's still advantage, though, right, because I'm
hopscotch champion.
Yeah, nice, nine, nine, nine,okay.

Speaker 1 (58:36):
You make it to the other side and you're like
steady and you can wait.
If you want, I will wait Likeyou're steady on the next pillar
.
Sorry, oh.

Speaker 2 (58:51):
Well, maybe I'll wait , and so that I'm out there and
can grab George if somethinggoes wrong.
When something goes wrong iswhat you're saying.
When something goes wrong Froglegs, don't fail me.
Now they're going to it'snimbleness banner athletics.
I'll let you choose DarkHarper's frog legs.

(59:14):
Oh God, I wish that was the wayit was, but it's not.
It's not.
I didn't type it right.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (59:23):
I'm going to pull it fast.

Speaker 2 (59:25):
Holy cats hey.

Speaker 1 (59:26):
I mean, it's Wow yeah .

Speaker 2 (59:28):
That'll do it.

Speaker 1 (59:31):
Yeah, cool, so you, you make it.
You'll get a plus one on yourattempt, but given that Riley is
there, it's probably best towait.

Speaker 2 (59:41):
Yeah, go ahead, riley .
Okay, oh, wow, thank God yourolled that.
Thanks, 12.
Oh boy, that would have beenrough.

Speaker 1 (59:59):
Okay, riley, you make it to the other side and you're
safe.

Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
Come on, galen you can do it.
That's the sound you hear fromGalen, just like a low growl.
You know what, ben?
Can I use a quest point, rollfeet of strength, and basically
I want the feet of strength tobe that I can skip over to the

(01:00:25):
last one because I jumped sohigh If I actually make the
check.
Does that make sense?
Sure, I can skip a nimblenesscheck.
You know what, though?
It's athletics, I don't know.
I'm going to have to make tworolls regardless.
I'll save the quest point, forget it.
I'm just doing the math in myhead.
That's four.
Wouldn't have mattered eitherway.

Speaker 1 (01:00:52):
Okay, failure with the plus, you jump Maybe you
slip and you grab the teeteringdisc or whatever it is like the
platform, you have one chancenot to fall.

Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
If you had one shot.
What kind of check am I making?
Might At a minus?
No, just a might.
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
Okay, you fall.
No, it was no.

Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
It's endless Actually .
In fact, I keep falling andthen I look down and I see below
me the same scene I just fellfrom and I'm falling in an
endless loop.
That's so much more horrifyingthan I could have ever meant.
I'm trying to think of a plushere.

Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
You're definitely falling to the ground.

Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
Falling in an endless loop would be a plus, because
maybe Riley could pull me outfrom it If I'm falling to the
ground.
The plus would be that there'sno spikes, I imagine.
Okay, yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:02:24):
You take four dred, four dred, do you hit the ground
?

Speaker 2 (01:02:37):
I love it.
I'm going to haul her down likeGalen.
Can you hear me?
Let me make a perception checkAt disadvantage my hearing loss
penalty.
However many episodes you go,I'm going to go with the worst

(01:03:03):
one.
Oh wow, they're both reallygood.
That's when the good roleshappen.
What the heck?
I perfectly hear you and Ireply.
I say yeah, I'm alive down here, it's just dirt.

Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
It's really dark.
You could climb up thesepillars.
Yeah, tell me where you'regoing to do.
I'm going to shout down.

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
Do you see any exits?
Can I feel around?
I don't have anything thatwould light.
I still have a fire stick.
Use the little lizard like alighter.
Is that possible?
I wasn't meant for this levelof output.

(01:03:54):
Is that a thing, Ben?
Can I use that to kind of likeflare and look around?
I'll make a search check,perhaps See if I can see a way
out.
Hey, Elijah.
Hey.

Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
Elijah.

Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
I'm late saying hello .

Speaker 1 (01:04:19):
Yeah, I mean.
What the fire does for you ismake you not you know out in the
pitch black darkness.
It looks like there's no wayout of this pit down here.

Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
You'll have to climb up, at least I know.
Let me try to climb.
That is athletics, I imagine.
Let's do it.
Let's just do this, let's getthis done, because positive
mental attitude it's a six.
I slip back down and getsplinters in my hands.

Speaker 1 (01:04:52):
No, Successful twist.
You make it up there, but at acost.
What you drop something.
Did you wake something up downthere?
Let's just go with that.
I like that.

Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
Yeah, actually I was going to say I liked the ladder.
I scramble up and then I make aton of noise when I'm
clambering up and I'm yelling upto Riley like Riley, hold out
of light, I can't see where I'mgoing and all that racket.
I finally get to the top and Ilay back on the other side and
then I hear something elseclimbing behind me and I'm like

(01:05:37):
wait, what's that sound?

Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
Yeah, do you want to deal with that now or start
running?

Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
You should run.
We have no courage.
Yeah, Elijah, we're stilllooking for Ernie.
We've made zero progress thiswhole.
Elijah this has been harrowinga dungeon where we've just been
doing our best, they've made noprogress.

Speaker 1 (01:06:07):
They've encountered several traps and puzzles, but
made no headway in Tracking TownErnie, unfortunately.

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
We had made progress, all of our anti-progress would
have taken it away, because wejust kept like one after one
after one, for all of our searchchecks, we got one key and
traps riddles lava.

Speaker 1 (01:06:28):
Now some creeping horror is rising through this
pit and we got to get out ofhere.

Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
What do we get?
So what do we hear?

Speaker 1 (01:06:40):
behind me, ben, we're running, you don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
Well, yeah, should we run and try to get into the
next room or like, and then rolla search, check and see what
happens and then see what'sgoing to follow us into the next
trap room?
Unless you think whatever'sclimbing up isn't a threat,
that's unlikely.
That's a gamble, though,considering our roles, well, I'm
wondering if we can't just likeis it climbing the wall, ben,
or does it sound like it'sclimbing the wood?

Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
Oh boy, what's happening?
It's climbing the walls.

Speaker 2 (01:07:20):
Okay, then we can't knock anything over onto it.
We should run.
I thought we'd run, yeah, we'drun.
No, I know exactly what to do.
But we're going to lose thewell crafted lock.
Like we'll get through the doorand like lock it.
That's not a bad idea.
I mean, it's far superior thandealing with, like, whatever

(01:07:44):
horror is behind us.
Whatever horror.
Yeah right, let's use the wellcrafted lock and just give it up
.
Run and slam the door.
Yeah, get out of here.
Padlock it in a superior manner.

Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
Okay.
As you're closing the door andstopping to do this, you glimpse
an ink pot spider like crawlingover the ledge.

Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
Oh my gosh, I don't know enough about an ink pot
spider to be terrified or not.

Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
It's not good, take the GM head off.

Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
If you want to live, you gotta get out of here.
Under a statement of the week.
Is ink pot spider bad?
Yeah, not always, I assume, butin the scenario where there's a
giant spider and a mansionfilled with death threats.

Speaker 1 (01:08:37):
It is not ideal.

Speaker 2 (01:08:40):
What we don't see is his like other ink pot spider
friend coming up but carryinglike a tray of refreshments yeah
, he's like close the door.
Close the door.
I wonder what they're up to youwant to agree.
Oh yeah, we had some lemonade, but you know we can't see one of
you.
It's too bad.

Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
So where are you folks?

Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
I'm down to keep you because I feel like nothing has
been achieved in a way, yeah, Iwould do one more room, one more
room and see where we get.
Maybe if we get a key, we canget to a nice stopping place and
protect ourselves.

Speaker 1 (01:09:25):
Well, I was actually saying like more than one room.

Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
This is on a room by room basis.

Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
Some of these rooms are like a minute.

Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
Some of these rooms are like the rest of our life,
which could be very short, bythe way, it's also a minute.
Yeah, you're searching, george.

Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
We immediately spend the two keys on something Really
.

Speaker 1 (01:10:01):
No, I mean, we can spend the dungeon key.

Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
I got to look back up because we can spend it to find
beneficial things Right.

Speaker 1 (01:10:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
Random dungeon.
What page is that?
That is spending keys.
Find a helpful item Okay.
One key is at helpful NPC.
Two keys Okay is oh, or ahelpful item, two keys is find a
loot pile.
I wanna find a loot pile bin.
I don't know that.

Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
You've already like spent the thing on a horde, so
there are no more hordes.

Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
Yeah, no, I think that an NPC, a helpful NPC or
helpful item, would be the best.
Let's just tune NPC because wecan grow our party again.
Wait, how do you feel aboutthat, James?
I'm cool with that.
Finding a helpful NPC, yeah, Ithink that would be amazing.

(01:10:58):
Even a loot pile, becauseunless we could goose it to be
like food you know we can't findany more loot, piles or hordes,
yeah, but we could find ahelpful item or a helpful NPC or
both, if we spend both of ourkeys.
This is like a matter ofsurvival at this point.
Yeah right.

(01:11:20):
We gotta like get into a betterspot when we I think a helpful.
Npc might be the best.
Let's do it.
Let's do it.
Do you wanna roll randomly, Ben, or do you have something in
mind?

Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
Roll five, do you 100 ?

Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Random NPCs.
I love it 29, 10, 48, 67, 31.
What a winning hand.

Speaker 1 (01:11:44):
Gale, gale Sorry.

Speaker 2 (01:11:48):
Rebaldo, gale, rebaldo, gale, rebaldo.
I already am in love with thisBagral.

Speaker 1 (01:11:59):
Medicine Maker.

Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
Whoa.

Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
Okay, we can work with this.
That's sweating profusely, ohno.

Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
He's like I gotta get out of here.
He's found someone else who'sbeen trapped for five days.

Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
He's sweating profusely.
The helpful NPC is just as lost.

Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
It's a.

Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
Bacro woman.

Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
Yeah, we immediately drop swords and say, oh, like
we're beating batteredadventurers, like who are you,
what are your intentions?

Speaker 1 (01:12:39):
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
don't kill me, don't kill me.

Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
Don't kill us, don't kill us.

Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
I won't kill you.

Speaker 2 (01:12:46):
We won't kill you.
I'm lost, we've been trapped inhere for two days ourselves.

Speaker 1 (01:12:53):
I've got you beat.
Been trapped in here a week.
I ran in here with all theMuckmen, oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
Trying to get the safety.
Now we took care of those guys.

Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
Well, that's great, but I'm at wit's end here.
Yeah, so are we.

Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
Maybe we should work with each other to try to find a
way out of here.
We're actually trying to findcrazy Ernie.
Oh, Wait, wait.
How have you survived a weekwith no food or water?
You couldn't have been preparedwhen you came in.

Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
Healing potions Got a thousand of them.
Yeah, it's about to my last two.

Speaker 2 (01:13:34):
We killed her Last two.
We're taking care of her, downto your last two.
Say, would you consider, Idon't know, maybe trading for
one of those?
We haven't eaten for two days.
Correction, I look at Gailen.
I haven't eaten for two days.
Yeah, it's only been one for me, I'm fine.

Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
Look, I'm feeling all right right now.
Well, I'm honestly kind ofnervous.
Been sipping on this one alittle bit.

Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
So whoopee.
It's like yeah, there's salivadripping on the side of it.
She hasn't been sipping on this?
Oh, I don't mind that it's likesuckling like a bottle.

Speaker 1 (01:14:17):
Look, just take this one.

Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Do you want to split it, george?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, go ahead.
I take the raggedy stuffedanimal that I have and kind of
like dab at Gail's forehead.
It's all I have to like wipeoff the sweat.
Sorry you're in such a badsituation.
Yeah, do you want to?
Oh?
You're talking to me.

(01:14:41):
Oh, thank you.
I was like well, well I wasjust like, yeah, like if we can
find Crazy Ernie in here, we canwork together find Crazy Ernie.
He could shut down all thesetraps or at least get us out.

Speaker 1 (01:14:58):
Is that how it works?

Speaker 2 (01:15:01):
He is the trap master .

Speaker 1 (01:15:03):
Look, I heard some weird things.
At one point a few days ago Iheard some screaming someone
saying help, help.

Speaker 2 (01:15:19):
Did it sound?
Wait, so it was close.
Were you in this room?
Was it close enough for you tohear, or where were you?

Speaker 1 (01:15:28):
I was walking through a corridor and I just I felt
like I heard that through thewalls.

Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
I say well, maybe you can take us back to that
corridor and we can try to finda different way, because what we
just came from I mean Inkpotspiders, tea cup saucers on
lumber pillars and all thisother stuff maybe we should go
back the way you came and we canfind a different path.

Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
Okay, I mean, I've gotten sort of turned around,
you know.

Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
Let's resolve the healing potion real quick.
The jams are going to split.

Speaker 1 (01:16:16):
So normally a courage potion gives you 1d12 courage.

Speaker 2 (01:16:21):
Roll a d6 each, sure, or you want to roll it Probably
, actually it's probably.
Yeah, oh, okay, that's prettygood.
That's pretty good.
Right there, that's also a 3.
Sum it 5 out of 16.
I like it.
I like it a lot.

(01:16:42):
I say Gale, I don't rememberwhat my courage was.

Speaker 1 (01:16:50):
Hey, if you have any Duhagenberry, I can other potion
Two also.

Speaker 2 (01:16:56):
Did you look at our character sheets?

Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
No, I have Grail tick mucus, but I just ran out of
Duhagenberry.

Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
I have Duhagenberry.

Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
That's amazing.

Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
It tastes really good , though.
No, I'll give her Duhagenberry,absolutely.
I'll say, yeah, we can keepthis in the bank.
I'll exchange it with her.
I'll give it to her, press itoff my sheet.
I show her some Creepthistleand I say I got some

(01:17:31):
Creepthistle and some Cairncrystals.
Anything you can do with those.

Speaker 1 (01:17:40):
Some.
What was the second thing yousaid, Cairn crystals?

Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
I don't think that's yeah, because Creepthistle
silence potion, cairn crystals Idon't know what Cairn crystals
do.
For those of you who arecurious, we're looking through
the different, like herbs andcrafting tables that are in the

(01:18:05):
Beta Rulebook and there's a tonof that.
There's a ton of that Page like90s or so.
I don't think there's anythingassociated with a Cairn crystal
at the moment, but I don't thinkwe need a silence potion either
.
Okay, well, we got another.
We got another Courage Potion.
That's good.
Yep, that is good.

Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
Yeah, do you want to use it now?
She whips it up.

Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
I up to you, riley do you want to split it now or
save it?
For I was going to say weshould save it just now.
That sounds good to me.
Okay, we could attempt to.
Should we camp or should we goin the direction of where the
cries for help were coming from?
If you guys have time, I'd bewilling to do another room if

(01:18:59):
that's where the cries for helpor gets us closer to it, because
it might be like atime-sensitive thing.

Speaker 1 (01:19:06):
This was days ago.
Oh well then they're dead.

Speaker 2 (01:19:09):
Oh then forget it.
Yeah, Inclassifiers got them?
Someone else trapped in theMarshgate Manor?
Yeah, this is like a terribleclue house.
You guys want to do one moreroom.

Speaker 1 (01:19:26):
Yeah, I'm open to multiple rooms.

Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
I've got for sure.
One more.
I don't know, I don't thinkthat I have time.
Yeah, okay, let's, let's.
Let's roll it up, riley, rollit up.
All right, here we go.
Gail come with us, and I makean offhand comment to Gail
saying our names are almost thesame.
That must mean something.
Five, wow.

Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
And you're both Foggerls.

Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
We're immediately falling in love, Because you're
both Foggerls and your namesstart with G.
I don't know.
Gail Gailin, it's a little more.

Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
I mean, they're very similar.

Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
It's a little more complicated than that, Riley.

Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
He's the healer.
Don't be a seductionist.

Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
You're a night errand yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:20:08):
You're very strong, Gailin.

Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
I blush and my cheeks become this ruddy mixture of
like green and red, which Ithink just looked brown.
Riley rolls her eyes.

Speaker 1 (01:20:23):
I don't notice.
And you also rolled five, whichI rolled five.
Just an encounter, not good.

Speaker 2 (01:20:30):
Just an encounter, do you have?

Speaker 1 (01:20:33):
extra quest point.

Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
I do.
I have one quest point.

Speaker 1 (01:20:36):
Yeah, you want to bump that to a six.

Speaker 2 (01:20:37):
I will use it.
I will use it.
Let's get some out of this one,and immediately.
We regret not saving this oneE6D100, baby.
Here we go.
Two, as if it's a riddle.
I submit time as my answer 73.
It's going to be correct thetime I don't say it.

Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
Is it time?
Yeah, yeah, okay, you come up.
It's another pool Encounteringa lot of liquid.
This time it's a deep dark pool.
You can't see anything into it.
And it's long enough thatyou'll definitely have to swim

(01:21:25):
across.

Speaker 2 (01:21:26):
Oh boy, yeah, it's mostly whether or not
something's going to grab us,you can see much from below.
You got a grab void, Pete.
I say feeling you know what,Forget it, Because I'm trying to
impress Gail and I'm a blogger.
That's too funny.
I immediately say stand back,ladies.

(01:21:47):
Let me swim across this riverand see if it's safe.

Speaker 1 (01:21:53):
Gailin is now referring to me as a lady,
though I have no gender, I'mjust.

Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
Ladies and thing Riley's, just like gosh, I've
seen you like this before.
This is so good, never endswell Showing off.
I actually like kind of likeflex a little bit and I do like
a diving motion, like a couplelike practice ones, and I
gracefully try to dive in andmake an athletics check to swim

(01:22:22):
across.

Speaker 1 (01:22:29):
Okay, mm, okay, you get down in there in the water,
it's so you kind of get there'slike a blast of bubbles that
goes by you and you kind of getturned around.

(01:22:50):
You're not sure which way iswhich, and then, as you're
submerged, you lock eyes with aLiger shark.
Wow, A shark, a Liger shark, soyou're still in the middle of
this pool and then, a Ligershark.

Speaker 2 (01:23:10):
Oh man, that's like my actual real life.

Speaker 1 (01:23:12):
number one fear A Liger shark yeah, I know, it's
like an actual locking eyes witha shark.

Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
It's locking eyes, liger sharks, liger sharks.
Oh gosh, tina.
Oh, it's the most perfectanimal shark ever.
I think if I get into a combat,I have a chance.
Is it immediately a combat, ben?
Is that how it works?

Speaker 1 (01:23:37):
It's a conflict and, riley, you see some commotion
and swirling in the water.

Speaker 2 (01:23:47):
Do you see a fin?
I'm going to be like, okay, here we go.
I knew we'd get into troubletrying to show off or whatever.
Like buckle my sash, put myshort sword on my teeth and dive
in All right, here we go,parley, or, in this case,
wrangle.
Yeah, oh, I'm not familiar withthe Wrangling rules.

Speaker 1 (01:24:13):
Well, it's like dealing with an animal.

Speaker 2 (01:24:16):
Okay, oh, use the wilderness skill to wrangle
critters and creatures?
No, yes.

Speaker 1 (01:24:23):
And you generally.
You have to have an idea ofwhat you're doing.

Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
You can't just say oh man, I have an amazing idea for
what I'm doing and I hope itworks.
I want to use my indestructiblenet and kind of like you know,
toro Toro, like having a bullcharge, yes.
And catch it and then stand onits back and bring it out of the
water and like be riding aroundthe unbreakable net.

(01:24:52):
Is this Cut up?
Come on, come on.
Come on, we can do it.
We can do it.
All right, here we go, here wego.
Ah, come on, I have a.
I think I have a quest pointstill, because I didn't end up
using it on that Kakamimi mightcheck.
Right, use it.
Yeah, yeah, I use it to make ita stick.

Speaker 1 (01:25:07):
I am not the keeper of your quest points.
No, no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
I definitely have one quest point left and I'm going
to use it to make that a six.

Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
To make it a six?
All right, you trap it.
It's better than a five, yeah, and you're like pulling it out
and then bites you through thenet.

Speaker 2 (01:25:31):
Yeah, that's the accept.

Speaker 1 (01:25:37):
I accept.
Please don't knock me out, please don't knock me out.

Speaker 2 (01:25:44):
Oh, my God, it's so much damage.

Speaker 1 (01:25:47):
Oh, it's attacking against you.

Speaker 2 (01:25:49):
Oh God, okay, it's okay, because in a second here
I'm going to say, oh my God,that's so much damage anyways.
But yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:25:58):
Hey no, you have that Hobbark.
Yeah, so but okay, oh, right, yeah, I do, you have armor
Functions is chain mill armor.

Speaker 2 (01:26:09):
So advantage with resist wounds are defied.

Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
No, but you get a plus five courage.

Speaker 2 (01:26:15):
Oh, additional plus five courage at the beginning of
each combat, my Lord.
Thank you, ben.
Everyone in radius done, isn'tit?
Yeah, everyone within 10 yards, that's going to save our lives.
I'm going to highlight that inmy character sheet because it's
just there's a lot of wordsright there.
That's good armor.
Yeah, that's really good armor.

Speaker 1 (01:26:37):
It bites into your Hobbark of mirth.
You take four dred.

Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
I shrug it off and so that's.
I have one temporary hit pointand I still have five hit points
, so five plus one out of 16.
And I realize why they call itthe Hobbark of mirth, because as
the shark bites into me and Idon't feel the pain, I begin to

(01:27:04):
laugh as we rise out of thewater on its back, even though
it's a.
Liger shark and it's like just afish.
You see a subtle like change init expression is like it
doesn't understand how you couldhave that response.
I'm just like laughing and Ithink I'm going to look so cool

(01:27:25):
All right.

Speaker 1 (01:27:27):
So You've pulled this out of the water, but you're
like kind of in the throes ofwrestling it, I'm imagining.

Speaker 2 (01:27:37):
Yeah, yeah, it makes sense.
So, yeah, we dragged it out ofthe water, we've captured it and
it's homeland.
Is that the idea?
No, is that not the idea we'regoing for?
I wanted to ride it back likestand on it.

Speaker 1 (01:27:51):
But I don't think that's gonna happen.
Well, yeah, I think there'sgonna be another round of like
wrangle.

Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
Okay, Can Riley now do a wrangle action?
Or is that because we each getone right?

Speaker 1 (01:28:03):
If it's a what do you think?
I think no Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:28:13):
So we've got it.
We actually have it on land.

Speaker 1 (01:28:16):
Yeah, how do you want to do that?
It's like at the edge of thewater In a net.

Speaker 2 (01:28:21):
Can I, once I get across, can I help him hoist it
onto land?

Speaker 1 (01:28:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:28:31):
Amazing, because we're gonna set up camp and
we're gonna eat shark.
I'm gonna cook it.

Speaker 1 (01:28:39):
Yeah, it's like thrashing right now.
I mean not for long.
I'll say, riley, you'll give aplus one to Galen's, like next
check to subdue this thing.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
I'm like heave, heave .
I get into a good rhythm withRiley's heave, so shall I roll
the wilderness Ben.
Or is there anything else?

Speaker 1 (01:29:04):
I think, make a might check at this point.

Speaker 2 (01:29:07):
Okay, same check.
Oh God, wow, I'm pulled back inthe water.
Oh no, as we have just notgetting any breaks on these
rolls, you don't have a lend ahand Can.
I share the load, suffer theconsequences of my best chums,

(01:29:27):
failed action, and I fall backin the water with the shark.
At least it's still gonna belike that maybe so like I, right
as I get up to help, I likepull on it and then slip and
fall back into the water.
I Knock my head.
I'm unconscious, you'redrowning.
Gail watches and does nothingbecause she felt like you were

(01:29:50):
competition Jealous of the bestfriend, alright.

Speaker 1 (01:29:59):
So, riley, you would have an action before combat
begins, if you want.

Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
Um, can I try to clamber out of the water again?
Yeah, that's what I do try toget back on the other side with
Galen.

Speaker 1 (01:30:20):
Okay, make an athletics check.
I fail, I get caught in the net.
I get caught in the net, notlike completely caught, it's
just like preventing.
Yeah, okay, it's going toattack you.

Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (01:30:48):
It gets a plus one.
I think against you.

Speaker 2 (01:30:52):
Your defense, james defense is plus one, or Riley's,
I think.

Speaker 1 (01:30:57):
So that is a.

Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
What's your helmet?
Does your helmet do anything?
My helmet gives me plus onetrickery.
I do have a short sword thatmakes me always attack first.
I don't know how that works,but it's not really.
It's like you were yeah, notinitiative.
So counter attack.
I counter attack.
Well, it does.

(01:31:19):
11 dread to you.
Oh, my good lord, I am um minusone if I'm within 10 yards of
Galen.
For the plus five, turn zero.
I'm at zero.

Speaker 1 (01:31:39):
Galen, you see the jaws of the shark, just like
quint.

Speaker 2 (01:31:45):
Quint.
No, I mean I'd say I go intoberserker rage, but I got
nothing left to pull from.
So I mean I can attack theshark maybe or try it's still.
It's still wrapping the netright, but it just managed to
get its teeth around Riley.

Speaker 1 (01:32:03):
Yeah, it got rolled around with Riley Like it could
still jump through the like yeahwith the net in its mouth.

Speaker 2 (01:32:13):
Yeah, god, can I just attempt to subdue it again this
round, because that'll at leastlet me get to Riley.
I got like no tricks left.
No, I know it's down to, it'sjust rolled man, it's just
rolled.
At this point Can it continueto do the wilderness check to

(01:32:35):
subdue, or might, if you want meto just yank it back out again.

Speaker 1 (01:32:40):
Yeah, it'd be might.

Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
Seven is better.
Okay, yank it out of the waterand it starts like, maybe it
starts sliding across.
I yank it with such force itstarts sliding across towards me
.
But maybe Riley is dragged outof the water with the net as

(01:33:07):
well.
Just like, like, so it gets anattack on me.
You know what I mean.
Like, but, but Riley was ableto like.
At least we pulled Riley outfrom drowning.
Oh man.

Speaker 1 (01:33:20):
So yeah, I'm gonna say you pull it out, but like on
top of you, basically.

Speaker 2 (01:33:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:33:28):
Yeah, okay, it's, it's gonna attack you.

Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
It's gonna bite my head off.
Here we go.
Yes, suck it.
Okay that's a five.

Speaker 1 (01:33:46):
Yeah, yeah, okay.
It misses, but it's.
You gotta put a sword rightthrough the.
Yeah you have a minus oneattack against it because it's
like on top of you.

Speaker 2 (01:33:59):
Yeah, it's just like snapping at me.
It's like hand grenades, I knowright, jam it in the mouth and
kick it off of me.
Can Gail just walk up behind itand pull out a flint like
pistol?

Speaker 1 (01:34:16):
Gail has like a dagger.

Speaker 2 (01:34:18):
Oh no, I say stay back.
Stay back, gail.
It's too dangerous, gail.
No, I'm still trying to acttough, even though Riley is like
dead functionally.

Speaker 1 (01:34:31):
Do you want to go to the next round?

Speaker 2 (01:34:33):
Yeah, let's go to the next round.
So would continuing to do likemight and wilderness checks to
subdue this thing be a thing, ordo it?
Is it just combat?
Now we're no longer able towrangle it.

Speaker 1 (01:34:52):
We got out of the water You're not able to like
wrangle it as in like You'vealready made that check the
first time and it was like I seeit's kind of gotten to this
point.
So now it's like it's eitheryou're like bringing this on
land to like fill it because itcan't get back into the water.

Speaker 2 (01:35:13):
Well, we were going to eat it anyway because we're
starving.
Yeah, no, riley wants to eat it.
I'm wondering.

Speaker 1 (01:35:19):
If so, I think your options are like you keep
pulling it away from the waterand like you're still going to
be open to attacks properlyunless you succeed outright or
you can just attack it.

Speaker 2 (01:35:34):
Our Liger Shark.
This is like a big, meatycreature, like I don't think I'm
going to kill it in one round.
I think I want to keep pullingit away from the water and just
like, if I can pull it maybe forX number of rounds and get it
far enough away, it'll justdrown.
Does that make sense?
Well, I figured if you got itaway from the water then it
would be at a huge disadvantagebecause it's like heavy and out
of its element and you could endit and then we could camp and

(01:35:58):
eat it.

Speaker 1 (01:35:59):
But by end of the minute.

Speaker 2 (01:36:01):
Yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, you could defeat it andwe could.
Yeah, ben, is there anydisadvantage?
Does it have a disadvantagebeing out of the water now?

Speaker 1 (01:36:16):
I mean it's like right next to you is the problem
.

Speaker 2 (01:36:19):
Yeah, yeah, I want to .
Just, you're like wrestling it,you know.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:36:23):
If you were able to like, pull it can't get to the
water and you step back.
Then it's like you know.

Speaker 2 (01:36:29):
Then we can take care of it.
That's kind of what I want todo, like I want to just get it
far enough away where I can'tjust roll back.

Speaker 1 (01:36:34):
Yeah, I think that's.

Speaker 2 (01:36:35):
All right, mike, here we go, come on, no, come on, no
, here we go, here we go.

Speaker 1 (01:36:48):
Okay, failure.

Speaker 2 (01:36:49):
This is one good roll .

Speaker 1 (01:36:51):
Failure with a plus.
Yes, you don't pull it anymore, but it's not rolling back into
the water, you're kind of likeat a standstill.

Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
At a standstill.
Am I taking attack?
Yes, mmm, it's a clean attacktoo.
This is bad.
This is bad.
At least Riley's not drowning.
Does Riley come back at all?

Speaker 1 (01:37:18):
I just rolled because I forgot, so you'll be back in
two rounds, I think Okay.
Okay, that is 11-dread.

Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
Oh, okay, so negative 6, I think Just 0.

Speaker 1 (01:37:36):
Just 0.

Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
Negative 25.0 out of 16.
Ah, this is brutal.
It's on land, though, rightyeah.

Speaker 1 (01:37:47):
So as long as it doesn't originate two rounds,
then I wake up.

Speaker 2 (01:37:52):
Yeah, oh my god.

Speaker 1 (01:37:58):
I think you both wake up and it's gone back into the
water.

Speaker 2 (01:38:06):
With the net.

Speaker 1 (01:38:08):
Yeah.
I don't imagine the shark wouldeat something outside of the
water.
They feed in water, that's true.

Speaker 2 (01:38:18):
I just don't know that it could get back in the
water Like is it that smart?

Speaker 1 (01:38:23):
It's only just outside the water.
It's just like wriggling.
Yeah, it's like wriggling.

Speaker 2 (01:38:27):
It'll like randomly wriggle in or out, so it's in
the water when we wake up.
I'm going to attempt toconstruct a depth charge.

Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
So I'm going to impose sort of a house rule on
this because technically it'slike if you died, if you fall to
0 twice in a session, you're ata chance to be killed, but,
like, since we're like in thesame scenario, you're in the
Marshgate manner.
This is going to carry over tonext time.

Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
Okay, so if we next time, if we fall to 0, we're
doomed.

Speaker 1 (01:39:08):
We have a chance to die.

Speaker 2 (01:39:11):
Haven't I already been at 0 once In Marshgate?

Speaker 1 (01:39:16):
No, are you sure I'll have to look at the tapes.

Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
Yeah, we'll go, we'll roll back the tapes.
Okay, cool, that was nice.
That was a butt kicker.
We would have lost this game.
So is Gale on the other sidestill, or was she able to cross
with Zona and Bach, like, whilewe had?

Speaker 1 (01:39:34):
those.
Yeah, she was with you.
She got back.
She's like tending to yourwounds when you wake up, galen.

Speaker 2 (01:39:41):
Yeah, but Riley is just sitting there like a wet
rat.
Still, she's completely,completely ignored Riley.

Speaker 1 (01:39:48):
Zona's like shouldn't you stop that wound, so much
blood.

Speaker 2 (01:39:57):
What for being a help to MPC, that was, thank God, a
healer to jealous of Riley.
She can't.
She can't get in the way of mylove for Galen.

Speaker 1 (01:40:10):
And that's all, george, but we're rolling with
it Too funny.

Speaker 2 (01:40:17):
Wow, what a quest.
That was absolutely brutal.
We still have one key right, ordid we lose that key?
No, because we rolled higherthan a.
We have one key, stanley, onekey.
We need four more.

Speaker 1 (01:40:32):
No, I think you have two keys.

Speaker 2 (01:40:35):
No, we used one on the NPC.

Speaker 1 (01:40:37):
I know, but you gained two.
You spent one, Then you gainedanother one because James used a
quest point.

Speaker 2 (01:40:43):
Oh, right, right, we wanted it at least to be.
Yeah, you're right, we wantedit to at least have some value,
some true value hardware Right.

Speaker 1 (01:40:53):
So next time you just need three keys.

Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
Or you can use spending keys, just need three.
Watch we're going to get likethree keys in the first three
rooms.
Next time it's going to be fine, It'll be fine.
I'm sure It'll be fine, ofcourse.
But wow.

Speaker 1 (01:41:09):
Well, I like how this really illustrates, like how
much you're sacrificing goingfor a mythic horde.

Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
Yeah, like we could have been over and done by now,
we would have already succeeded.

Speaker 1 (01:41:22):
Like.

Speaker 2 (01:41:22):
I'm so unhappy that I've lost the net.
Well, the net's still downthere.
If we can get that shark, wehave to eat.
We have no food, we'll have tocharge it next time I'm getting
that shark, so wow.
Well, that was super fun, guys,I mean.
But was it or was itsoul-freshing?

(01:41:42):
I had fun with the system, butthe outcomes were not ideal.
Yeah, I kind of like that kindof gameplay though.

Speaker 1 (01:41:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:41:55):
It really amps it up.
It's super fun and Ben istotally right, like going for
the six keys really does have aprice when you're trying to get
through a dungeon, because herewe are there is a price.
Yeah, session 40.

Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
I think George is like pet, I mean even in RPGs or
like losing items.

Speaker 2 (01:42:16):
Even Elijah says still looking for Ernie.
It's like yes we're stilllooking for Ernie.
We'll get him the next time.
We'll get him.
We'll get him.
I'm sure we can do this, but wehave no courage, no food.
We're lost.
We need three entire keys, yes.

(01:42:38):
So anyway, that was great Funtimes.
Good place to wrap it up too.

Speaker 1 (01:42:46):
Yeah, and you got a new NPC that's in love with you
and we're going to well, we'reonly with one of us.

Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
I mean, let's be real here.
Yeah, that is a power strugglefor attention.
Yeah, cool.
Well, thanks everybody forjoining us for this session 12
of the Land of Emaqtural Playwith the Adventures of Riley and
Galen.
Special thanks to everybodythat supports us on Patreon.
That's a really big help, andwe share lots of stuff about not

(01:43:15):
only the Land of Emaqtural butalso graphic novel projects and
other new projects that we'reworking on, and we will be back
next weekend with some yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:43:31):
What we're thinking about doing is streaming our
regular Land of EmaqturalExtravaganza, so we'll continue
this journey in MarshgateManager find Chris Urney.
But we're also talking aboutmaybe doing an evening stream of
a Ghostbusters RPG from the 80soh yeah, yeah, that's like a
Halloween special yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:43:54):
Ben and I and George have wanted to play this RPG for
years, and so we've had time inHalloween to dive in and bust
some ghosts.

Speaker 1 (01:44:05):
So definitely look out for that when you're not at
a Halloween party, yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:44:09):
And Halloween is going to be a little weird this
year, with everything going onwith COVID-19 and the concerns
across the globe, we figuredit'd be fun to have something
going on that feels like in thespirit of the holiday.
So join us for that.
It should be fun.
We'll be posting when exactly.
We're going to do it very soon, and until next time.

Speaker 1 (01:44:33):
Yeah, I'm going to drop the link to the game first,
so hold those faces a bitlonger.

Speaker 2 (01:44:39):
Yeah, nope, nope, nope, sorry, sorry, I jumped the
gun that was just like do Imake the face now?

Speaker 1 (01:44:47):
Now make the face.
Bye, guys, Bye.
