LFPWLI: Stuart Preston, Psychedelics for Healing After Losing a Child
TW: suicide, mention of molestation, eating disorder, and addiction
In this episode, Mathew and Stuart discuss the shift in reality he experienced before the officer even finished explaining that his son had completed suicide. Stuart tells us about his relationship with his son Ian, why his suicide was a complete surprise, and how they are keeping his memory alive today. They also talk about the research into setting and dosage Stuart has done on his journey with various psychedelics over the years including psilocybin, ayahuasca, LSD, peyote, and DMT.
Stuart Preston is not a therapist, not a psychologist, and not here to claim Psychedelics are for everyone. He is here to recount what worked for him to anyone dealing with the loss of a child, struggling with suicidal thoughts, and feeling trapped by the stigma. Stuart grew up as the son of a DEA agent during the war on drugs. However, after he lost his own son seven years ago Stuart tried psychedelics for the first time and found peace and freedom from attachment he didn’t know was possible. Stuart is now on a mission to break the stigmas around mental health and the psychedelics that helped get him centered and get back on track after his whole life was changed.
““I have had to let go of my emotional attachment to Ians physical presence, and I’ve had to learn to live with him in memory, in love, and in spirit.”
