Have you ever completed something important and felt nothing but relief? That subtle response might be a warning sign you're living in survival mode without even realizing it. Throughout my own journey, I discovered this pattern in myself—finishing significant projects and immediately moving on instead of celebrating achievements. This episode unpacks this common tendency, particularly prevalent among high-achieving individuals, to chase the next exhale rather than experience true satisfaction.

Relief certainly has its place in our emotional spectrum. That flood of gratitude when finding a lost item or avoiding a dreaded mistake is valuable. But are we shortchanging ourselves by setting our emotional ceiling there? Where is the accomplishment, joy, peace, satisfaction, and celebration? Many of us have trained ourselves to bypass these elevated states entirely, conditioning ourselves to perpetually seek the next challenge before processing our wins.

And, as a special bonus, I want to give you FREE access to my signature course, Slay Your Year (usually $997)! All you have to do is:

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore.
Here is a sign that you mightbe living in survival mode
without realizing it.
I noticed this myself, maybe ayear or so ago, and it was a

(00:21):
profound insight for me.
It was this when I completed ajob, something that was
important, something that wassignificant maybe it was a talk,
maybe it was a collaboration, maybe it was creating something
from scratch when it was overand I'm saying over with a great
result you know clapping happyI hit a goal, whatever it may be

(00:45):
, but it was a good outcome, apositive result.
Instead of feeling this sense ofaccomplishment or achievement
something that drove me to wantto celebrate, even relax instead
I just felt relief, reliefinstead of accomplishment.
Is that how you feel sometimestoo?

(01:08):
Maybe you've got something todo that feels significant and
important and you complete itand it goes well.
And instead of taking even amoment, a minute to celebrate,
to congratulate yourself, topause, you just feel relief and
you're on to the next, on to thethe next, onto the next.
I know a lot of high achievingpeople do this, especially women

(01:29):
.
We don't sit, we don't take amoment, we don't breathe and go
wow, look at how far I've come.
Look at how well that went.
These are the reasons, inparticular, that I feel
satisfied right now.
This is what I'm taking with meinto my next project.
We simply feel this sense ofrelief that something didn't go
wrong, we didn't mess up, therewasn't a colossal mistake.
And now we're on to the nextthing, because we have to remain

(01:51):
busy and we're seeking the nextsense of relief.
Not even achievement, not evenhappiness, not even satisfaction
, but this sense of relief thatwe keep chasing.
So think about this If we'reconstantly just seeking relief
and maybe we set our goals highand we achieve them, and we feel
this sense of an exhale insteadof a oh, isn't this fantastic?

(02:15):
What if we're going throughlife completely missing it?
Right?
This is true survival mode, isn't it?
I noticed this a couple ofyears ago, when I completed
something that took me.
A couple of years ago, when Icompleted something that took me
a lot of time and effort and assoon as it was over, I was busy
.
One hour later, talking aboutsomething else, planning
something else, and my husbandsaid to me he's like that was

(02:36):
pretty epic, right?
How do you feel?
And I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, good.
It's not always obvious, it'snot always big, it's not always
this significant aha moment.
I'm in survival mode.
Oh my, am I missing out?
It was a sense of ah.
I suppose someone else would betaking the afternoon off,
someone else would be justenjoying this, somebody else

(02:59):
would just be allowingthemselves to internalize that
there was a job well done andthat requires a rest.
A toast, a piece of cake, Idon't know.
Whatever it is that makes youhappy.
I think that it is a tragedy togo through life thinking relief
is the best thing that you canfeel, thinking that relief is

(03:21):
all there is, thinking that, yes, relief is wonderful and we
know that sense of relief.
Imagine you think you've lostyour phone or your wallet and
then you find it flooded withrelief.
That's wonderful.
Especially too, I think, ifI've made a mistake, and then I
check that I haven't.
I didn't press, you know, sendto all.
I'm like oh phew, relief, relief is a wonderful thing to
feel, and it's a wonderful thingto seek out when we feel low.

(03:43):
So if I feel slightly depressed, or if I feel anxious, or if I
feel even bored and I can seeksomething that brings me relief,
that's wonderful.
We're going up what's calledthe emotional scale.
According to Abraham Hicks, relief is a great thing to feel,
but are we shortchangingourselves?
Where is a sense ofaccomplishment, joy, peace,

(04:05):
satisfaction, pleasure,celebration?
My friends, if you connect withthis on any level, I'm going to
tell you there's more for you.
There's more joy and moregoodness and more pleasure that
you are able to experience.
It's your birthright.
Joy is your birthright.

(04:26):
Are you selling yourself short, seeking only relief, jumping to
the next thing, without pausing, without taking a moment to
acknowledge how far you've come, how well you've done, how well
you are doing and how good yourlife really is doing, and how
good your life really is?

(04:47):
Until tomorrow, my friends, somuch love and ease.
