What does genuine self-love actually look like in practice? Beyond the spa days and positive affirmations lies something far more profound: the courage to define success on your own terms.

Society constantly bombards us with metrics of achievement that rarely align with what truly fulfills us. While external definitions of success vary across cultures and communities—some valuing certain professions over others, some prioritizing status symbols—they all share a common thread: they're externally imposed rather than internally derived. Fame, money, and influence are universally celebrated, yet chasing these without questioning their personal relevance keeps us trapped in cycles of validation-seeking.

As someone who left a $500,000 tech position to pursue coaching a decade ago, I can attest that following your heart's guidance—even when it appears irrational to others—can be the most profound act of self-love possible. True self-love manifests as a self-directed life where your energy, time, and resources flow toward what genuinely matters to you. This might look like making career changes or simply choosing where to eat lunch based on your authentic preferences rather than external expectations.

And, as a special bonus, I want to give you FREE access to my signature course, Slay Your Year (usually $997)! All you have to do is:

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore.
Do you want to know the realsign of self-love?
There are many things that canillustrate it Our relationships,
how we take care of our bodies, our boundaries yes, there is a

(00:22):
whole list.
And if you ask different people, they'll say this is how I love
myself, this is how I take careof myself.
For me, it's simple and reallyit can be defined by this one
thing, which is defining successon my terms.
I've recorded episodes aroundthis before, specifically
talking about an image versus apurpose driven life, meaning

(00:44):
focusing on what fulfills youversus what looks good to other
people.
And really, in the end, isn'tthat success?
Creating a life that feels goodto you versus a life that looks
good to other people?
Because if there's anything Iknow, it's that society doesn't

(01:05):
measure success in the same waythat our spirit and our
intuition does.
It just doesn't.
It's all about accomplishmentsbeing number one, money, status,
hot parties being at the rightevents.
We know this and it's a littlebit different for everyone,
based on where you live, basedon your cultural conditioning,
based on what your society andyour community values.

(01:26):
For example, I know thatgrowing up traditionally,
growing up in England creativework is less valuable than work
in science, engineering, mathematics, et cetera, et
cetera.
Creative work is nice, but it'skind of like more of a hobby.
It's something that's reservedfor people who are maybe quite

(01:47):
sensitive and they have thisvery artistic side right.
Creative work might not bevalued, Working in certain
sectors might not be valued, butanything that involves fame,
money, power, influence, that'svalued.
So we have to be careful, myfriends, because the influences
will never stop coming fromoutside of us, never, ever.

(02:10):
Maybe it's from our family,even.
Maybe it's from our friends,maybe it's from our co-workers,
maybe it's from social media.
Whatever the source, it iscritical to remember to come on
home, back to yourself, knowingthat you are only living in a
place of self-love if you areliving a self-directed life,

(02:30):
meaning you make decisions, youplace your energy, your time,
your money, your resources intowhat matters for you, what it is
that you care about.
As a coach, I can't tell you howmany people I've spoken to over
the years who've spent money onthings that they don't care
about skiing trips, certain cars, even jewelry or designer

(02:54):
purchases to fit in, to be liketheir friends and I ask oh, what
does this bring you?
What emotion does this bringyou?
And instead of even pleasure orjoy or happiness or a sense of
marveling at something thatsomeone might even own, it's
more of just a sense of relief.
And then the next Okay, what doI have to get next?

(03:15):
How do I fit in?
Next, what else is required ofme, my friends?
What if the only real mark ofself-love is living a life
aligned with what your heartwants, where it wants to be, who
it wants to be, with what itwants to do each day, the type
of work it wants to fulfill inthis world?

(03:39):
I know, when I left tech adecade ago, everyone thought I
was crazy.
They're like, wow, you'releaving a 500k per year job to
be a life coach, are you okay?
And I can tell you now, adecade later, it was one of the
very best decisions I've evermade.
It wasn't something that wasvalued or encouraged, apart from

(04:03):
the very few people close to mewho know me and love me.
And here we are as a result ofthat decision.
My friends, where today can youeven make a small decision?
It doesn't have to be somethinglife-changing and bold, but
even making a small decisionthat's in alignment with what it
is your heart says yes to.

(04:23):
Maybe it's even where you eatlunch or someone that you want
to reach out to, or maybe it'smaking a decision to say no to
something that's very much partof your routine, because it just
doesn't fit anymore.
Society's definition of successchanges based on which country
you're in.
Whatever it is, your communityat that time tend to value.

(04:46):
But what's inside of you iseternal and unmoving.
And, my friends, your desiresare safe guidance.
They're saying come this way.
Are you loving yourself enoughto listen Until tomorrow?
My friends, so much love andease.
