Ever notice how reaching for your phone first thing in the morning sets your entire day on autopilot? Or how one mindless scroll leads to an hour lost online? The key to breaking these cycles might be simpler than you think.

The 10-minute time gap is a remarkably powerful technique that can transform your relationship with habits you'd prefer to minimize. It's not about elimination or restriction—just awareness. By creating a brief pause between impulse and action, you shift from unconscious behavior to conscious choice. Whether it's overspending, overindulging, or over-scrolling, that small delay creates space for mindfulness to enter.

And, as a special bonus, I want to give you FREE access to my signature course, Slay Your Year (usually $997)! All you have to do is:

  • Leave a review of this podcast.
  • Email a screenshot of your review to info@susie-moore.com

Simple as that!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore.
I have a quick tip for youtoday that can just give you
your life back.
You can implement this anytime, any place.
It is the 10-minute time gap.

(00:21):
10 minutes, that's it, delayingyour vices.
So often when we take an action, that might have a side effect
that we don't love.
Maybe it's overspending,overeating, overdrinking,
whatever it is right.
We're all a little different.
Overscrolling is a big one.
Whenever we do it, there is aside effect, meaning we're

(00:43):
depleted, we spend money wedon't want to spend, our health
suffers as a result, and thesebehaviors are largely
unconscious thinking oh, whatcan I complete now?
Or how can I?
You know?
Maybe I'll take a couple ofdeep breaths and center myself.
I'll just reach for the scrollwhere I'll go straight into it.

(01:09):
I'll go into the doom scrollingimmediately.
Whatever it is in your life thatyou might like to do less of,
even it could even be gossiping.
I mean, really, this can takeany form.
Implementing a 10 minute timegap can change everything,
because this is how we go fromunconsciousness just chiming in

(01:30):
with the gossip.
You know, saying yes to thatthing in the email.
Oh yeah, I'll buy that becauseit's on sale, or yeah, I'll have
a drink, or yeah, I'll have avape or whatever it is that you
think I would like.
Less of this in my life.
This isn't shaving any of thosethings.
It's your life, it's your call.
But if you institute this 10minute delay, so just say you
get home at 6 pm.
The first thing you do is go tothe bar what if there was just

(01:53):
a 10 minute break?
Took off your shoes, had alittle stretch, pet your dog,
pet your cat, put your hair up,put your comfy clothes on.
I put your hair up, put yourcomfy clothes on.
That 10 minute gap, not only ina lot of cases, can remove the
behavior.
I've seen this happen wherebehaviors are removed when they
become conscious.

(02:13):
It can also just push it out tolater in the day, you know,
especially if there's somethingthat requires more and more.
So I know when I was coaching alady she was like look, as soon
as I start going for it withdesserts, like that's it at a
buffet.
I'm like what if there were a10 minute gap?
What if, after you finish yoursavory food, you have like a sip
of tea, you chill and then yougo for dessert?

(02:35):
She's like it's amazing howmuch less you even eat as a
result of being conscious.
It's not let me get my money'sworth.
Let me do it now.
Let me rush chase, let me justlike do what I usually do in
these situations.
It's not followingpre-programmed behavior, it's
coming back, it's being awake,it's living in awareness.

(02:56):
10 minutes, my friends can do alot.
What if?
What if this can change yourlife?
You wake up each morning andinstead of you know putting your
arm, picking up your phone andturning off your alarm, or even
just picking up your phone assoon as you crack a knife, you
don't have an alarm.
And seeing the news, checkingthe TikTok, looking at your
email, seeing your WhatsApp allthe things you had 10 minutes,

(03:20):
you just sat there.
You just marveled at the factthat, yeah, you woke up today.
The sun is going to rise orit's already risen.
Here you are, breathing, livingduring your temporary time on
planet earth.
A 10 minute delay from wakingto checking your phone can
change the entire course of yourday, because the tone is set

(03:42):
immediately.
I want to know where you couldapply this.
Let me know on Instagram.
I'm at suzymore.
Where can you insert you a 10minute time delay.
You can apply this to anything, anything that you would like to
do less of.
We allow an awareness, we'reawake, we are conscious, and
then we might make the samechoices.

(04:03):
Great, at least we're awake, weare conscious, and then we
might make the same choices.
Great, at least we're makingthem consciously.
Or maybe we choose somethingelse.
Until tomorrow, my friends, andso much love and ease.
Hey friend, I've got somethingreally cool for you.
