Do you ever feel that subtle, persistent belief that you might be failing? That gnawing sense that your life isn't unfolding as it should? You're not alone in this feeling – and what if it's not actually a problem at all?

I recently had a fascinating conversation with a friend who successfully transitioned from corporate life to becoming a full-time artist. By conventional standards, she'd "made it" – her work was selling well and her business was thriving. Yet surprisingly, she found herself dissatisfied. "I thought I would be living in bliss," she confessed, "but I'm not enjoying creating commissioned work for others." Her experience perfectly illustrates the tension we all face at various stages of our journey.

And, as a special bonus, I want to give you FREE access to my signature course, Slay Your Year (usually $997)! All you have to do is:

  • Leave a review of this podcast.
  • Email a screenshot of your review to info@susie-moore.com

Simple as that!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore.
Do you, if you pause and thinkabout it, ever have this feeling
or this low-level belief thaton some level you might be

(00:21):
failing?
Maybe you're failing all thetime in your eyes, based on your
expectation of where your lifeshould be and where you should
be and how exactly it should beunfolding.
I was having this conversationwith a friend of mine who's had
a really interesting career.
She's done lots of differentthings, kind of like me.

(00:43):
We've done lots of differenttypes of work.
She works for herself now andwhat's interesting is she's
pursued her passion.
Her passion business issuccessful.
She's doing well with it.
It's set to expand if she wantsit to expand.
But what's so interesting isthat she works.

(01:05):
She's an artist.
She's very, very private butshe's an artist.
Her work is selling and shecomes from a corporate
background and she was sidehustling as an artist for a
while and now that she's doingit full time and, yes, it is
successful, by society'sdefinition she doesn't like it.

(01:27):
She's like.
I thought this would bedifferent.
I thought I would love it, Iwould thought I couldn't wait to
go to my studio.
I thought I would just beliving in bliss but she's not
enjoying creating, you know, custom work, commissioned work
for other people, and her and Ihad this conversation around.

(01:47):
Yeah, you know the tensionalmost that exists with every
new step and stage that we have.
And as we were talking, I said, look, you know, we're talking
about our career histories andhow we've both done a lot.
I said, you know, I started asa recruiter, I loved it, and I
did that for two or three yearssuccessfully before moving into

(02:10):
the tech sector.
I loved that for a while and wewere sharing, you know, all of
our different salaries 28K, 35k,45k, 60k, 100, 135, right, I
mean, we were sharing our shifts, the twists, the turns.
But I can tell you on everylevel, whether I was working in
a bakery as a teenager or ananny when I was 18 in France,

(02:33):
or as a recruiter, or as areceptionist a job I was fired
from, I'm terrible at adminfriends or if I was working in
tech, in sales, there's alwaysbeen this level of tension that
I felt and it's not a negativething, but it's a feeling of,
okay, this is good, what else?
Or this is good, I want more.
Or this is good, I'd like to beearning differently, or this is

(02:58):
good.
However, how much creativitycan I exercise in this position?
There is always a little bit oftension, always a bit of
wrestling, always a feeling of,yes, content with where I am,
but eager for something else, orwanting to go in a fresh
direction, or wanting to trysomething new, or just wanting
to expand.
My friends, nature is aboutexpansion.

(03:21):
You're not meant to live thesame day, the same year, you're
not meant to have the samecareer your whole life, unless
that's what you want, unlessyou're one of those people who
just land on the thing andthat's it for life.
My friends, there is alwaysmeant to be this, this question,
this, what's next?
This becoming.

(03:41):
Sometimes we feel like there'sa problem to solve, or we think
this tension means I'm doing itwrong.
All these questions that I have, or this feeling that I want
for more to be do and have more, means that I'm doing something
that isn't good, or where I amit's not enough, or I failed, or
there's a mess up here.
What if that's not true at all?

(04:05):
What if there is no problem tobe solved?
I said this to my friend who'slike oh my gosh, I followed my
passion.
My passion isn't what it'scracked up to be.
I want to do something else.
I'm like what if there isn't aproblem here at all?
What if this is your ownbeautiful becoming?
You're learning.
You took this chance onyourself.

(04:27):
It's paying off.
Where to from here?
What if it is not a problem tobe solved, but what if it is
just a beautiful unfolding ofwho you are here to be?
If you look back in your life, even the detours, even the times

(04:48):
you're fired, like me, even thetimes when you maybe moved in a
direction and it didn't feel asgood as you thought it would,
hasn't that brought yousomewhere better?
Maybe the road is winding, theroad is winding, but hey, nature
once again show me a straightriver.
So I said to my friend I saidlook, you have this frustration

(05:11):
now.
Maybe you feel a bit scared.
She's like yes, I feel scared.
But I said to her would yourather that you never did this
and you were still where youwere two years ago in that job,
or are you happy that you'vedone this and you know more now?
And she's like oh my God, Icouldn't even have survived two

(05:34):
more years in that job.
So she took the best step.
The best next move for her?
Is it the end?
No, there's breath in ourbodies, my friends.
There's always going to be more.
But what if that place, whereyou're at right now, that
tension that you might feel?
What if it's perfect?
What if there's nothing to fix?
What if it is just guiding andinforming, in fact, the best
next step, the next perfect stepfor you, my friends, we're

(05:55):
going to keep winding untiltomorrow.
So much love and ease.
