What was supposed to be a 36 hour trip turned into a five day ordeal, a trip to the hospital and an injured crewman. "The captain goes down with the ship" is a longstanding tradition that says the captain of a ship ultimate has responsibility for the vessel and all its passengers. Should an emergency situation arise, they are expected to dedicate will their efforts to save those on board or die trying.
