(01:39):
comments.
I know, I know I can scour theanalytics and trust me, the data
makes me giddy and I do, butthere's nothing better than
actually hearing from the people, hearing this.
I love hearing from you.
I love knowing what you thinkand what you liked, what was
terrible, all the things, thegood, the bad and the ugly right
.
I truly believe in my heartthat it's not an accident or a
(02:01):
coincidence that you tuned inhere.
I really truly believe indivine providence and I am
totally here for it.
I hope that this fills yoursoul and, more importantly, I
hope that it encourages you.
Season four is going to focus onthe prayers and the scriptures
(02:22):
and the stories that have shapedthe world.
The ancient words fromscripture penned so long ago
have real and lasting impact onour lives today.
Scripture can seem at firstglance, to be this like outdated
book, maybe even confusing orenigmatic, but when you dive in
(02:47):
it is anything but that.
Scripture is this God-breathedword and it holds this living
power.
And it's power and it's wisdomthat we can infuse in our lives
today.
Hebrews 4, verse 12, tells us.
For the word of God is aliveand active, sharper than any
(03:10):
double-edged sword.
It penetrates even to dividingsoul and spirit, joints and
marrow.
It judges the thoughts and theattitude of the heart.
The Bible is a transformativebook and it's one that changes
things.
It changes the game and itdraws us into living closer with
(03:30):
God and lockstep with the HolySpirit.
It's a book that's worthy ofour time and attention, and I
say that in a world where many, many things pull us and pull our
time and our attention.
Companies spend a lot of moneygoing after our time and
(03:51):
attention.
This season we're going to takethe Bible's most powerful
prayers and most powerfulstories and we're going to spend
time unpacking them.
I firmly believe that when weunderstand them deeper, that we
can live in a deeper intimacywith God, like level unlocked
(04:15):
right In seasons past, scripturewas the supporting content to
stories and ideas.
I, very low-key, pointed tostories in the Bible to
illustrate my points orhighlight different pieces of
stories that I told.
This season I'm doing somethinga little bit different.
(04:35):
I'm making Scripture the point.
Knowing Scripture on this sideof heaven is of the most
important right, upmostimportance.
Life and death hinges on it.
And you're like probablysitting there like, oh my gosh,
that's really dramatic.
But it's not meant to be.
It's actually scripture andbiblical right.
(04:56):
In Ephesians 6, scripture iscalled the sword of the spirit.
My loves, we must know how towield the sword right.
Everything hinges on ourability to know how to wield the
sword of the spirit.
Friends, I'm so passionateabout this because these
(05:17):
biblical truths and these firmfoundations have gotten me
through so much of life.
I truly believe that when we gothrough hard seasons and we
come out the other side of those, god then gives us the absolute
privilege to wrap our armsaround the brothers and sisters
(05:39):
next to us, going through thehard times and pulling them
forward.
I'm sharing these scripturesthis season because by the grace
of God and I can promise youonly the grace of God I'm able
to sit here and do it.
Trying to live without knowingscripture is like trying to
(05:59):
drive a boat without a rudder.
How can you possibly steer inthe water without it?
Short answer you can't right,at least not very effectively.
Okay, so I want to share withyou John, chapter 5, verses 2 to
8, the healing at the pool inJerusalem.
(06:20):
Verse 3 tells us that near thepool, and I quote, a great
number of disabled people usedto lie, the blind, the lame and
the paralyzed.
There was this man who had beenthere like 38 years.
In verse 6, it says when Jesussaw him lying there and learned
(06:41):
that he had been in thiscondition for a long time, he
asked him do you want to getwell?
We might look at this questionand think, of course he does.
Right.
Why is Jesus even asking this?
Friends, jesus knew somethingthat we rarely think about.
(07:02):
Not every person wants to bemade well.
See, being made well takes work.
Being made well takes a shiftin beliefs, in thinking, in
patterns, in habits.
Being made well takes thecourage to sometimes hope again,
(07:22):
which can be honest.
Can we be honest here?
That can be really really hardwhen you've been disappointed
time after time after time.
That can be really really hardwhen you've been disappointed
time after time after time.
So, friends, I want to bringJesus's words to you as we kick
off this season.
(07:42):
I imagine Jesus in all of hisglory looking at this man in the
eye, seeing him like reallyseeing him, maybe for the first
time time this man has been seenin a long time.
I imagine people must havepassed him every day never
really seeing or looking at him.
And I imagine Jesus, the Kingof Kings, creator of the
(08:11):
universe, looking at you andlooking at me.
I imagine him taking us by thehand, like he did this man so
lovingly asking my dear sweetdaughter, my dear sweet son, do
(08:33):
you want to get well?
Do you want to let go of thething that you've been carrying?
Do you want to live different?
Do you want to be, to get well?
Everything hinges on how youanswer that question.
If you're ready to soak up thehealing waters of scripture,
(08:56):
then leave me a hearty.
Let's go in the comments.
Friends, come hang out with mein the airwaves this season as
we dive into the prayers thathave shaped the world.
And maybe, just maybe, theprayers that have shaped the
world, and maybe, just maybe, ifyou're new to this whole Jesus
(09:16):
conversation, you might hearsomething that changes the game
for you.
If you've been around the Jesusconversation.
Maybe it will affirm what youalready believe.
Either way, come back forepisode two.
Before we go, I want to actuallyoffer a blessing.
There's a scripture in numbersix, verses 24 to 26.
(09:39):
I want to pray this blessingover you because I pray this
blessing every morning over thepeople that I love and I hold
dear in my heart heart.
So may the Lord bless you andprotect you.
The Lord make his face shine onyou and be gracious to you.
May the Lord look with favor onyou and may he give you peace.
(10:05):
My loves, I hope you enjoyedthis episode, the first one of
season four.
Send me a message.
I always love hearing yourthoughts.
Come back next time.
We're going to throw moreencouragement and more scripture
around like confetti, as always.
Be careful If you get too close, you just might get some on you
(10:27):
and remember per huge, there isalways something to be grateful
for.
