(00:15):
Oh, welcome to the Live to Shootpodcast.
My name is Jeff Doddle and I'vebeen a licensed farm dealer for
the last 18 years, I'm gonnasay, and this podcast will talk
about.
All things related to the SecondAmendment, as well as anything
else going on in the world or asports story, or anything else
that I find interesting.
So, a lot's going on in theworld, before we get into the,
the serious stuff kudos goes outto my chiefs that moved on to
(00:38):
the, the conference finals afterbeating the Texans.
It was a good game, close for awhile, and then not so close but
Great job to my Chiefs and thecoach search for my Cowboys is
ongoing.
Deon seems to be the prevailingfavorite, but we'll see now that
(00:59):
the Lions got knocked out.
Ben Johnson can can be a littlebit of a pain.
can interview and we'll seewhat, what happens there.
So we'll see see what allhappens with the in the NFL
world and more football today aswe have two more games, the Rams
and Eagles and the big one, theBills and the Jaguars, or I'm
(01:22):
sorry, the Ravens.
I don't know what I'm thinkingabout the Jaguars, but yeah.
So Anyway, but a big week thisweek.
A lot of confirmation hearingsgoing on and I don't know if you
watched them, but they are forme painful to watch,
entertaining at times.
The Senators, especially on theleft, are giving all these
questions about you know, whendid you stop beating your wife?
(01:44):
The one Senator keeps askingeverybody if they've been
sexually abused or been accusedof sexually assaulting somebody.
Very odd questions.
But they all seem to be focusedtoo on getting the nominees to
say that Trump is wrong and thathe did did not win the 2020
election and that there was nofraud and that the J6 pardons
(02:08):
shouldn't happen.
They want these nominees tocommit to that and you know,
ultimately that is a 47's choiceand he will do what he wants to
do.
But When we talk aboutconfirmation hearings the one
that you know, we were watchingand I watched a good bit of it
You Not word for word of it, butwas a confirmation hearing of
Pam Bondi for Attorney General.
(02:31):
And it's, you know, she's beencontroversial on the gun, Second
Amendment gun rights side.
And, you know, she hasn't thisone didn't, you know her
conversation, her hearing didn'talleviate any of those concerns.
She stated that she is anadvocate for the Second
Amendment, but I will enforcethe laws of the land.
Now, You know, what does thatmean that she's an advocate in
(02:54):
many cases?
People say yeah, I support thesecond amendment, but what they
really mean is That they believethat maybe the best case where
it says you have a right to beararms You can only bear one arm
at a time So you can only haveone at a time and any more than
that is Violent, you know isn'tsupported by the second
amendment or that it's just formilitia or that they just say
(03:16):
that to move off of the deflectoff of the question.
And then, you know, is she goingto, you know pursue stricter gun
laws?
You know, in the past in Floridashe supported measures like red
flag laws post, you know, postparkland shows a mixed on.
gun rights.
She's also been celebrated andcriticized by both factions.
(03:39):
On one side, her commitment toenforce existing gun laws
reassure those worried aboutlegal chaos.
On the other, gun rights groupslike Gun Owners of America have
expressed concerns over hersupport for some restrictions
questioning her dedication tothe Second Amendment.
It's full scope.
So, where did Pam Bondi land?
I don't know.
(03:59):
We're going to have to watch andsee.
You know, she is lawenforcement.
That is where the Department ofJustice is.
And she does have to, you know, enforce the laws of the land.
But she also has the ATF underher.
And the ATF it's been making itsown laws and it's been pursuing
gun dealers and the industrymore than they, it is the
(04:21):
criminals.
And that's the shift I thinkthat we, one of the things that
we want to see the most is oneto quit.
Trying to put more rulings andregulations around existing guns
and go out and, you know, getthe guys that are actually
breaking the law.
But we'll see, we'll see wherethat goes.
(04:42):
At other news, the Supreme Courtdeclined to hear the Maryland's
handgun licensing, to hear achallenge on the Maryland
handgun licensing regime.
The decision was part of a listof orders released from the
justices private conference.
The case Maryland's shall issueversus more involved gun rights
groups and gun ownerschallenging Maryland's
(05:03):
requirement that most residentsobtain a license before buying a
gun.
The U.
S.
Court of Appeals for the 4thCircuit and the U.
Had upheld the law, pointing toJustice Clarence Thomas opinion
on New York State Rifle andPistol Association v.
Bruin, which indicated that lawsrequiring gun owners to undergo
background checks or completegun safety courses would
(05:23):
generally be constitutional.
Additionally, this, I don'tnecessarily think that's exactly
the, Proper interpretation ofBruin, but additionally the
Supreme Court also declined tohear a pair of cases seeking to
hold oil and gas companiesresponsible for damage caused by
climate change.
Blah, blah, blah, blah.
So the Supreme Court alsorejected multiple Second
(05:45):
Amendment cases, but then theyrelisted Some, some new ones are
some existing gunman challengeswhere the gun rights advocates
hope for a major announcement.
The high court denied petitionsfor a story in Maryland and Gray
versus Jennings.
So the theory might be that thecourt just hasn't found their
perfect case yet and they don'twant to.
(06:08):
Here a case that maybe we've gotfour solid votes, but they're
not sure where the other two maybe landing and they don't want
to get a case ruled that isbecomes, you know, law of the
land across the country.
And so maybe they're waiting fora a more solid case.
(06:28):
Maybe they've got those outthere.
Maybe they're waiting to to getsome more controversy in terms
of conflicting decisions acrossdifferent circuits.
It's always hard to tell aboutthe Supreme Court.
People make their living out oftrying to Monday morning
quarterback what they did andwhy they did it because the
Supreme Court doesn't reallytell you a lot of things they
They they do their thing andthey will issue their opinions
(06:51):
But a lot of the stuff about howthings actually get there and
how those decisions made thoseare made in private conference
And outside of releasing somethings around row, you know,
they, they, that's usuallypretty, they kept pretty, pretty
close to their vests.
So we will see, but the big newsalso coming is Monday.
Tomorrow, Inauguration Day,Donald J.
(07:15):
Trump will become the 47thPresident of the United States,
and we can start trying to cleanup this mess.
There is a big mess that he ishaving to come into, and we can
just not wait another minute toget it cleaned up.
Clear it up.
So pray for his safety.
Pray for all the people that aregoing there to see him.
I had fallen on Facebook.
A few people from that we knowthat are flying out there, their
(07:38):
travels were their journey outthere was quite difficult, but
it's going to be cold and it'sgoing to be inside.
So not many people are going toget to see it, but I'll be
watching on TV.
And we will see where things go,but you know, we've got, you
know, more confirmationhearings.
We, Cash Patel seems to be, youknow, one that they have their,
their sights set on.
(07:59):
They were really grilling PamBondi on cash.
And I think cash is key.
I like that.
To To the success of this Trumpadministration because we've got
to uncover a lot of this crazystuff that's going on in the, in
the FBI.
As it pertains to J6, the pipebomber at the DNC on, on, on
January 6th.
(08:20):
What all, you know, these thingshave, these other Investigations
that they've done and hopefullyreform the FBI and get it to be
a much more respectableorganization as well as the ATF.
I don't, you know, I'd like toabolish the ATF, but that's not
going to happen.
And so let's get them fightingcriminals.
Let them, let's fight the drugdealers that are getting these
(08:40):
guns.
And not the, the guys that aretrying to do their best to, to
serve this industry.
So that is it for today.
Keep listening, share thispodcast, and have a great
weekend and have a happyinauguration day.
