(00:14):
Well, welcome to the Live toShoot podcast.
My name is Jeff Dolan and I'vebeen a licensed firearms dealer
for the last.
18 years in this podcast.
We talk about all things relatedto the second amendment,
anything else going on in theworld, sports story, or anything
else that I might findinteresting.
So welcome back Patriots.
This is another episode of thelive to shoot podcast.
In this show, we dig into thenews, the fights and folks

(00:37):
standing tall for our God givenrights to keep and bear arms.
If you're new, we're going tocut through all the noise and
get to the heart of what'shappening in the two way world
now, before we dive in.
I want to give a quick shout outto all my listeners out there
exercising your rights everyday.
Whether it's carrying concealed, hitting the range, or just
teaching your kids about theConstitution.

(00:59):
You're the backbone of thisfight and if you're enjoying the
show, don't forget to subscribe.
Leave a review or share it withyour friends.
We are a grassroots movement andevery voice counts.
We have got to get our voices asI continue to preach out there
about what our second amendmentrights and how we have to fight,
fight, fight.
So, all right, well, today, whatwe're talking about is a heavy

(01:20):
hitter in the second amendmentarena the second amendment
foundation or SAA for short.
These folks have been swingingfor the fences, protect our
rights for decades.
And if you don't know aboutthem, buckle up.
because this is a, it's a groupworth knowing.
So, and y'all know about the NRAand what they do, but this is
why I want to talk about the,the SAF because they have they

(01:42):
are really taking the fight forour Second Amendment rights.
But let's set the stage.
It's 1974.
The gun control crowd isstarting to flex their muscles.
The NRA is around, but they'renot quite the powerhouse that we
know today.
Enter Alan Gottlieb.
A guy who looked around and saidenough's enough and we need a
group that's laser focused ondefending the second amendment

(02:05):
in the courts in the legislatureand the culture and that's when
the second amendment foundationwas born right there in
Bellevue, Washington.
Now, I haven't always been thebiggest fan of the NRA but you
know they've done good work.
Don't get me wrong, but SAF isthis little scrappy underdog
that doesn't just talk the talkThey walk the walk in the lion's

(02:26):
den and win.
The NRA, you know, they do a lotof lobbying and and you know
working the political angle SAFtheir mission to protect and
preserve our right to keep andbear arms through education
litigation and advocacy And letme tell you, they've been, you
know, racking up wins over andover.

(02:48):
So, let's talk about why SAFmatters.
You've probably heard of theDistrict of Columbia v.
Heller, that landmark 2008Supreme Court case that said,
yeah, the Second Amendment is anindividual right, not just a
militia thing.
Huge win, right?
Well, SAF was right there in themix supporting that fight.
Then in 2020, they took it astep further with McDonald v.
City of Chicago.

(03:09):
That case made sure the SecondAmendment applies to states and
local governments, not just thefeds.
Now think about that, withoutSAF's work, you might still have
cities like Chicago telling youyour constitutional rights don't
apply within city limits.
That's the kind of nonsense thatthey've been shutting down.
Right.
Don't stop with the big ones.

(03:29):
SAF's got their hands in thelawsuits all over the country,
challenging magazine bans, carrier restrictions, you name
it.
Just last year they were part ofthe fight against ATF's
overreach on pistol braces andunfinished frames.
They're not afraid to call outthe bureaucrats and say, Hey,
you don't get to rewrite theConstitution just because you
feel like it.
Now here's what I love aboutSAF.

(03:52):
They're not just playingdefense.
They're on offense too.
They've got this thing calledthe polite society podcast.
Yep.
It's part of the family now.
Keep all keeping us all in theloop on two a news.
They've got the gun mag andonline daily blast of what's
happening in the gun rightsworld.
And they've.
Are you even training up thenext generation of advocates for
workshops like the AMM,Constitutional Alternative Mass

(04:14):
Media Convention?
That's all about getting theword out and making sure our
side in the story isn't drownedout by an anti gun noise
machine.
Oh, and get this, they're notafraid to take on the big dogs.
SAF's got gone toe to toe withstates like California and New
York, where the Second Amendmentis treated like a suggestion
instead of a right.
They're all there fillingbriefs, winning injunctions, and

(04:38):
making sure lawmakers know we'renot backing down.
But here's a real kicker.
SAF doesn't have deep pockets,or some of the anti gun groups.
Folks like Bloomberg andEverytown, who we are always
fighting.
And they've got millions tothrow around.
SAF runs on gift.
and the support of people likeyou and me.

(04:58):
That's why I'm always saying,fight, fight, fight.
You can become Breast AF for aslittle as 15 bucks a year,
that's less than a, you know, abox of ammo, and they go
straight to defending yourrights.
I mean, think about it, everytime SAF wins a case, That's a
win for us, it's a win for theguy carrying Concealed in Texas,
the mom protecting her family inOhio, and that hunter in

(05:18):
Montana.
This isn't just about lawyersand suits, it's about keeping
the Second Amendment alive forthe next generation.
Well, so what's next?
Well, as of, as of today, they're still in the thick of
it.
They've, they're watching theSupreme Court like hawks, ready
to jump on in any case.
They're pushing back against redflag laws don't respect due

(05:40):
process.
They're keeping an eye onstates, trying to sneak through
more restrictions.
It's a never ending battle, folks, but SAF's got the SAM to
keep going.
And that's why I'm bringing themhere because, you know, to, to,
to your attention.
And so you can start makingdonations to them.
And we're going to start, I'mgoing to start trying to cover
more information provided by theSAF, the status of some of their

(06:02):
ongoing cases and things likethat.
But before I wrap up, I justwant to leave you with this, the
Second Amendment just isn'twords on the paper.
It's a backbone of our freedomin groups like SAS or the
muscle.
So check them out.
And they're at FAF.
org.
Sign up, donate, and spread theword.
We're all in this together.
So that's it.
Thanks for tuning in to theLive2Shoot podcast.

(06:24):
And we will be back next week.
