Versatility is the master capability for leading in a VUCA world — that is, one characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. We define versatility as the ability to read and respond to change with a wide repertoire of complementary skills and behaviors.
However, versatility in leaders is rare.
In a case study by Kasier Leadership Solutions, 24,000 leaders were assessed over six years using a 360-degree tool they designed. The outcome was that less than 10% of those leaders tested had the skills and capabilities to be effective leaders in a VUCA world. That means that more than 21,000 of those leaders were not prepared for the business challenges of today. However, the skills and talents to lead are not as mysterious as some would think they are.
in our 300th episode, Rich and Maikel discuss those leadership styles that help leaders be capable of effective leadership in a VUCA world. Join us on this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.
