Martina Chapman is the national coordinator of Media Literacy Ireland. Unconscious bias is like body odour - it’s hard for us to recognise we have it, so we need to practice good information hygiene to ensure our opinions don’t ‘stink’. Matteo Bergamini talks to Martina about why the term Fake News has become so problematic and how the Media Literacy Ireland campaign managed to create a unified coalition of media organisations rallying around media literacy. Martina also gives you her top tips for ensuring you don’t get caught out by misinformation. Media Minded explores the bizarre world of misinformation and conspiracies, with interviews from the journalists tasked with fighting them. Each episode focuses on accounts from the journalist being interviewed. Listen to first-hand experience working in the fast-moving world of breaking news and hear in-depth accounts of investigations into disinformation campaigns. Presented by Matteo Bergamini Edited and recorded by Sabina Mckenzie Brown. This podcast is made possible thanks to the kind support and sponsorship of the US embassy in London and the global engagement centre at the US state department.
