As we approach the end of the year, many people start thinking about New Year’s resolutions and fresh starts. But why do so many resolutions fall apart? And how can the mind be trained to support long-term success rather than sabotage it?

In this week’s Talk Time, I explore how hypnotherapy can help you build the mindset of success — not just the idea of success. Most people who come to see me aren’t struggling with what they want to achieve, but how to believe in themselves long enough to follow through.

When someone has tried and fallen short more than once, it affects their confidence. And this is exactly where hypnotherapy becomes such a powerful tool. By understanding a client’s “why,” tuning into their emotional readiness, and helping them release old fears and habits, we create the inner conditions for genuine change.

In this episode, I discuss:
• Why letting go of old behaviours can feel unfamiliar and scary
• The importance of pacing the session around the client’s emotional readiness
• How sensory acuity helps the hypnotherapist read subtle shifts in the body and mind
• Why scripts alone fall short — and how to truly tune into the client
• Using ideomotor signals and client-generated beliefs for lasting transformation
• The mindset needed to step into a new year with clarity and confidence

Hypnotherapy isn’t about forcing change. It’s about guiding someone towards their own “aha” moments — helping them discover the beliefs that will support their goals in a meaningful, sustainable way.

If you’re wanting support with your own New Year’s resolutions, or you’d like to experience how hypnotherapy can help you gain momentum, I’d love to connect.

And if you’re interested in becoming a Clinical Hypnotherapist, our 1000-hour NZACH Diploma begins again in February, starting with Ericksonian Hypnosis. You’re welcome to join us — it’s an achievable and rewarding career path.
