Speaker 1 (00:00):
If you were listening , two years ago I did an episode
and I shared a blog post on myfavorite things and, in honor of
kind of the 12 days ofChristmas, I like to pick my 12
favorite things that are tools, services, personal treasures or
subscriptions that I have foundthat make my life easier, more

(00:21):
productive and, honestly, sometimes just more enjoyable,
and I like to share them withyou.
Hey, there, you're listening tothe Missions to Movements
podcast and I'm your host, danaSnyder, digital strategist for
nonprofits and founder and CEOof Positive Equations.

(00:42):
This show highlights thedigital strategies of
organizations making a positiveimpact in the world.
Ready to learn the latesttrends, actionable tips and the
real stories from behind thefeed, let's transform your
mission into a movement.
Ho ho ho.

(01:03):
Welcome to a special holidayepisode of Missions to Movements
.
The holidays are often a timefor reflection and for giving.
I was so excited if you saw theGiving Tuesday report that came
out.
Giving was up 16% on GivingTuesday Incredible.

(01:23):
I hope you felt that momentumand love in your own community
and organization and as yearscome to an end, I also do a lot
of reflecting on the differenttools and systems I use in
business and life.
And if you were listening.
Two years ago I did an episodeand I shared a blog post on my

(01:48):
favorite things, and in honor ofthe 12 days of Christmas, I
like to pick my 12 favoritethings that are tools, services,
personal treasures orsubscriptions that I have found
that make my life easier, moreproductive and, honestly,
sometimes just more enjoyable, and I like to share them with
you.

(02:08):
And, of course, I have somediscounts and offers to share
with you.
So if any of these soundperfect for you, all of the
links are down below in the shownotes, so I will not read links
as I go through each one ofthem, but you can go down in the
show notes to grab yourdiscount.
So let's dive in Number one.

(02:29):
Let's kick off with something Iam really incredibly proud of
and sometimes I just need to sitwith, which is my book, the
Monthly Giving Mastermind.
I am offering two free chaptersof an ebook download if you
kind of want to get a sneak peekinto it.
It is a roadmap for nonprofitsIf you're really looking to grow

(02:51):
your monthly giving programs.
It's my gift to you thisholiday season.
Whether you're new to monthlygiving or looking to take your
program to the next level.
These two chapters will kind ofgive you a taste of the
actionable strategies and thevery real world examples that
will help you build, grow andsustain your program.
So grab your free download ofthe.

(03:12):
It's an intro and two freechapters actually, and if you
want to get the real thing, youcan go to my website for that.
There is a free book clubdiscussion guide on my site
available for that as well.
So favorite thing number one istwo free chapters.
Download of my book, theMonthly Giving Mastermind.
Number two Flowdesk.
This is an email marketing toolI swear by.

(03:35):
It's something I use.
Well, if you're on my emaillist, I use it all the time.
If you've ever received any ofmy emails, you've experienced
the magic of Flowdesk.
It's user-friendly, it'sbeautifully designed, it saves
me so much time, it's so easy toset up workflows and forms and
countdowns.
And my favorite part isFlowdesk does not charge based

(03:59):
on how many subscribers you have.
It is a flat $35 a month.
That's it.
It has literally been a gamechanger as my business has grown
and I love it so much, and soif you are interested in
switching email marketing tools,it has everything that you need
and more.
It has analytics, the workflowsforms, and it's so simple to

(04:22):
use.
If you want to test it out, youcan get 50% off your first year
if you use my link, so trust me, it's worth it Check it out.
Number three so running abusiness, especially as a
solopreneur, means managing amillion little details, and I
met Rachel Baerbauer.
She is the founder of thenonprofit automation agency.

(04:45):
I met her years ago now, but Irecently hired her for basically
produce the backend of themonthly giving summit
registration process.
So I basically had connectionsfiring on the backend between
RingCentral, which was theplatform that, if you joined,

(05:07):
was like the front end where youentered and you experienced the
summit, thrivecart, whereregistration was, flowdesk, my
email platform, google Sheets, where we poured information into
, and LetterLabs, which was ourdirect mail platform where you
received direct mail from me.
So all of those things had tobe connected and automated to

(05:28):
seamlessly run, and my braindoes not work that way.
So I hired Rachel.
That's what she is.
She's an automation expert andso if there are things in your
organization that you know couldbe streamlined and automated
and just taken off your plate, but you just need someone who
understands how the finesse ofall that works.
She's amazing and will makelife so much easier for you.

(05:50):
So, again, there's a link inthe show notes.
She has a free quiz on her site, there's an e-course and then
hire her.
I swear it's going to make agame-changing difference to go
into the new year, taking somethings off your plate and
streamlining operations that youhave.
Number four so, piggybacking offof the work that Rachel did at

(06:10):
the Monthly Giving Summit, itwas truly the highlight of my
year producing this event andcreating this event that it's
coming back, which you've heardthroughout this episode already
probably.
But if you missed any of theincredible sessions of the
Monthly Giving Summit or justwant to relive the magic, you
can get 50% off access to all ofthe on-demand sessions with a

(06:34):
special code.
The link already has it in it,but the code is MGS50.
That means you can watch andrewatch any of the talks and the
workshops and the breakoutsessions and the keynotes
anytime, at your own pace.
50% off before December 31st.
So trust me, you will want totake full advantage of this.

(06:55):
Get access to all of thesessions before our event comes
up in February.
Number five is Buzzsprout.
So Buzzsprout is the platformthat I use to distribute this
podcast and podcasting.
I can't believe the show nextyear will be three years old and

(07:16):
it's been such a powerfulplatform for me to share
insights and stories and bringvoices that I trust and want to
amplify to the platform.
And Buzzsprout is superuser-friendly.
So if you are thinking aboutlaunching a podcast, it is what

(07:42):
sends the show off to Apple andto Spotify and to any platform
basically that you want to haveyour show distributed.
It does it all automatically.
It's where the show notes go in.
It's where any of my dynamic adplacement goes.
So Buzzsprout's amazing.
It has all the analytics inthere and you get $20 in
Buzzsprout credits if you signup through my link.
So I invite you, even if it'slike a private podcast that you

(08:02):
want to share with people, thinkabout podcasting in the new
year.
What could that look like foryou and your organization?
In my 2025 Trends episode, which is going to come out on
Christmas teaser, I'm going toshare a lot about audio and the
power of audio and what'shappening in the surge.
So something to definitelyconsider, and I'll talk more

(08:23):
about that brainstorm for you inthe following episode, number
six.
So, continuing on podcastingpodcasting for creatives I've
talked about them before.
They are the incredible team,my dream team, that makes this
show possible.
They edit it, they draft theshow notes, they handle all the
technical work so that I canreally be here and focus on

(08:45):
creating the content to trulyserve you, and the amount of
time that they save me ispriceless.
I cannot even imagine sittingdown to edit my show.
I'd probably be a hot mess,knowing me.
I'd be tweaking every certainthing and then second guessing
things because I don't reallyknow what I'm doing.
So this is one of those thingswhere it is much better to pay
the experts to do the thing thatthey are great at.

(09:08):
And if you really are thinkingabout starting a podcast, they
have a whole launch plan.
That's what I used.
They talked to me aboutmicrophones to use.
They helped me with my trailer.
They talked to me through coverwork.
We talked through everything, all the nitty gritty things.
Or if you have an existing showand you really just want to
take it to the next level, Ihighly recommend Podcasting for

(09:30):
Creatives.
Now, in my monthly giving Slackgroup, the Sustainers, there are
more than 100 nonprofits thatshare tips and tools to scale
their recurring giving programsand, as you might believe, the
CRM and fundraising toolconversation comes up a lot, and
one that always comes up inconversation is Bloomerang.
So if you're in the market tobe looking at a complete donor,

(09:53):
volunteer and fundraisingmanagement solution, head to
bloomerangco.
They have a very intuitiveplatform that tracks engagement,
provides powerful insights sothat you can really focus on
driving your mission forward.
So join thousands of small andmedium-sized nonprofits that are
already thriving withBloomerang and again you can
visit bloomerangco to elevateyour fundraising.

(10:16):
Today.

(11:21):
Number seven Okay, this one'spretty fun.
Number seven Okay, this one'spretty fun.
Number seven is butter, and Iwas analyzing all of my tech
platforms and one of them, forever, has been Zoom and Zoom
was feeling a bit Zoom.
Right, I want my brand to beabout innovative tools and

(11:42):
bright and bold and fun andinteractive and with my meetings
, I want people to enter feelingenergized and that it's a
different feeling of their daythan another Zoom meeting.
And, especially due to mymastermind, I wanted to have a
platform that could really pullin some more interactive
elements.
I could do a lot of post-itnotes, virtual things and

(12:02):
anyways.
So I stumbled upon Butter andit is basically Zoom, but super
awesome and I knew it was it.
Everyone I've had it forprobably a month now and
everyone in the past month whohas entered a meeting with me
has said what is this?
There's a waiting room that Iget to play the music that

(12:22):
people play and it has a photoand I think right now actually
there like snow falling on thedesktop.
It's very cool.
Highly recommend checking itout.
It's like a surprise anddelight for people that come on
to meetings with you, and youcould get 30% off your first
three months if you use my link.
So check out better.
Number eight newly, Ah, newly.

(12:45):
This brings me just personaljoy in my life.
I am a shopaholic, but I don'thave the budget to be a
shopaholic and I love having awardrobe that's constantly
refreshed.
I also really believe insustainable fashion and I don't
like clutter of things and thenI speak a lot.

(13:05):
So I like to have a refreshedwardrobe.
Clutter of things and then Ispeak a lot.
So I like to have a refreshedwardrobe of different things and
like throughout the seasons.
Living Atlanta newly is aclothing rental service where
you can swipe out items eachmonth.
I think I get seven, nocommitment required, so every
single month you could turn iton or off if you want, and it is
basically my way of being ableto feel stylish without the

(13:27):
guilt of fast fashion, whetherit's on stage or you have
conferences going on.
Oh, my goodness, duringpregnancy they have a home
maternity selection.
I bought literally two leggingsduring maternity leave.
Everything else I rentedthrough New Lane.
It was amazing and if anybodylistening, if you have gone
through pregnancy or boughtpregnancy clothes.

(13:48):
They are expensive.
So this saved me also a lot ofmoney and you can get $30 off
your first month's subscriptionwith my link.
So curb that shopping habit andjoin me and you could start
renting Number nine Letter Labs.
So I mentioned this earlier, butthey are handwritten notes and
traditional direct mail thatallow you to be automated.

(14:10):
They're beautifully handwrittengifts cards.
They have a ton of differenthandwriting options.
You can customize all of yourmessages and it's just so easy
to use.
During the monthly givingsummit, I was able to automate
the entire process.
So basically, once someoneregistered for the summit, they

(14:31):
would automatically enter LetterLabs through Zap, through
Zapier, and they would receive awelcome postcard.
It was like constant.
And then I was able to justlike upload CSV files to send
out, like the thank you card.
So there's different.
There's cards, there'spostcards.
There's a whole bunch ofdifferent options that they have
in there.
It's all trackable.

(14:52):
You can upload the QR links.
I designed everything in Canva.
They have like a Canvaintegration.
So if you're looking to have anautomated handwritten like
thank you note, birthday cards, anything to your supporters, I
would highly check them out.
And right now, if you use thelink in the show notes, you can
get 10% off any of theirhandwritten products, free

(15:14):
double-sided printing and 600handwritten characters, which is
20% more for free.
So you could check out theirlink as well.
So you could check out theirlink as well.
Number 10, more Than Giving.
So More Than Giving is a VA, avirtual assistant agency, and
managing a nonprofit running abusiness.

(15:34):
It's a lot of work and I reallyappreciate having an agency
that, like curates a great groupof virtual assistants where you
don't have to individually goout and find somebody, and
they're focused in the nonprofitspace, which is cool, so they
know the ins and the outs ofnonprofit life.
And if you are looking for away to really lighten your

(15:56):
workload, improve efficiency, bring somebody on your team, but
not have to, like, spend a tonof money, go month by month,
hiring a virtual assistantthrough More Than Giving is
great because they basicallymatch somebody to the skill sets
that you're looking for andthen if you ever need somebody
new or have a different project, they can bring on somebody new
that has that skill set.
So it's really cool becausethey manage that for you and you

(16:17):
can get 10% off your firstthree months with them.
If you mention me, so again, link in the show notes for more
than giving, number 11.
Okay, so who says changing theworld can't come with some fun
swag?
I decided to create my ownmission-minded merch store on
Bonfire, and it's all aboutwearing your love for recurring

(16:41):
giving proudly.
So for those of us that aredeeply invested which I hope you
are in the power of recurringgiving and charitable living,
it's a movement and, like sportsgear that we wear I wear my UCF
night stuff all the time wewear what we believe in right,
and it signals to others theimpact that we're building every

(17:01):
single day and hopefully a lotof times starts a conversation.
So, whether you're working fromhome, you're going to a
conference, you're speaking on astage, I invite you to pick out
a piece of swag that speaks tothis recurring movement that
we're driving.
So I've created some really funpieces from everything that say
like hashtag obsessed withmonthly giving to monthly giving
is my love language.

(17:22):
Great minds give monthly.
You can check out all thedifferent pieces.
There's kid sizes too, everything from tees to
sweatshirts, to hoodies, to crewnecks.
So why not have some fun piecesthat reflect what we love about
our work and this is also agreat gift item, like for the
new year, if you have employeesor a friend that works in the

(17:43):
nonprofit sector that you wantto share it with.
And number 12, last but notleast, let's talk about Pura.
Pura is this is a personal onetoo my favorite scent diffuser.
Now, I love candles I do lovecandles and sprays and all the
things, but then they go away.

(18:04):
And this diffuser has been agame changer because I love
technology.
Right, it is app controlled andit has these incredible
fragrances and aromas that keepmy workspace and my house
smelling amazing.
And I can switch them out likeplug it into the wall.
It has two sets at a time andon the app you could control

(18:24):
like subtle, medium, heavy.
I want switch them out Likeplug it into the wall.
It has two sets at a time andon the app you could control
like subtle, medium heavy.
I want it to run this time inthe morning while I'm waking up.
I want it to run all day whileI'm working.
I want it.
You basically control and youcould get $6 off your first
order with my link right now.
I have the Nest Holiday scent.
It is lovely, it.
I have the Nest Holiday scent.
It is lovely.
It smells like Christmas up inhere.

(18:45):
So try Pura.
Let me know what you think.
I think just having a lovelyhome office smell, or smell in
general, just makes everyonefeel cheery and uplifted.
And so that's a wrap on my 12favorite things this holiday
season.
So, listener, I hope if you'relooking for just for a little
joy in your day-to-day, I hopethese recommendations can help

(19:06):
you to be more efficient, makelife a little brighter.
