squadcaster-a671_1_09-1 (00:13):
Welcome
to the mobile armored podcast
show.
The podcast that transforms intoa dumpster.
I am Adam Moore alongside my cohost and best friend, PJ
McNerney, who's coming to usfrom the mobile armored podcast
studio.
PJ, how are you?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (00:31):
I'm
doing well today.
Yes.
I had to go to my orthodontistappointment because what men in
our forties do, we go and getbraces put on.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (00:40):
I'm
happy that you're getting into
the the mindset of the age wewere when we were watching the
show.
So that's what I am chalking itup to.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (00:48):
you
know, I Think it's really
important that we dial ourselvesback to that point in time.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (00:51):
Look.
We have got a doozy for you all.
Ladies and gentlemen.
We have episode 23, VanishingPoint.
Venom hijacks planes by settingup a fake airport.
Jamming radars and confusingpilots to land there in order to
capture an experimentalsupersonic jet.
Lot of effort just to capturethat jet
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (01:15):
There is
a lot of construction that is
involved in this episode.
A lot of high technology, whichI will comment on later on.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (01:22):
All
right, let's dive right in,
shall we?
We are inside a super secret jetI thought.
When we opened, this was the jetthey were talking about.
Turns out it's not so spoileralert there, but this thing is
huge.
It's a, it's flight one Oh two.
And we cut to the control towerwhere one of the controllers has
(01:43):
talked to his boss and says, youcan always depend on Ross to be
right on time.
Best pilot we've got they land, but uh, some psychedelic effects
happen and it appears theyaren't.
think they are.
Let's start by talking about howbig this jet is.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (02:03):
If the
cockpit is that little bit way
at the top, this thing isgargantuan.
I feel like It's like fourstories tall It's a transport
jet ultimately, but what thehell is it supposed to be
transporting?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (02:17):
the
world's largest cargo jet and
I'm a nerd about this stuff.
It was actually destroyed duringthe Russian Ukraine conflict
actually, but it's the Antonovan two to five Mira.
Jet look it up or I'll post itonline.
Uh, it's got a 250 ton payloadand 1, 100 cubic meters cargo
(02:38):
hold capacity.
but I believe it was actuallydesigned to be carrying some
pieces of the Buran spacecraft.
So the Russian space shuttlecopycat back in the eighties.
And since then it was used bythe Russians and others to just,
transport stuff around.
This definitely rivals that, Ifnot bigger.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (02:56):
Yeah, I
mean, it's, there's, and it
definitely has this anime feelto the whole thing.
Like it's like, I and I'm goingto make a comment about those
later on this felt like theywere like heavily influenced by
Robotech at this point in time.
The design of this in terms ofthose giant, like the curves,
like the giant size, the wayit's like colored, it felt very
Robotech to me.
(03:17):
And in fact, if you put this inRobotech, I wouldn't have known
the difference.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2024 (03:20):
I
totally agree.
And by the way, the the Hermesjet, which we'll introduce soon
also has that feel to it.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (03:25):
100%.
100%.
going to comment, what'sinteresting about the jamming
effects, which I thought wasinteresting was that it's not
just that they're jamming theradar for the pilots of the
plane.
They're actually like foolingthe control tower as well,
picking one or the other istough enough as it is, but to do
both actually is a prettytechnologically complex thing.
(03:47):
Yeah.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2024 (03:48):
I
agree.
What I am confused about though,is the super psychedelic effect
that hits the pilot when helands at the fake location Cause
there's no psychedelics involvedin this radar scheme of Venoms.
What's going on?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (04:01):
This is
the only time we see this during
the episode.
So I'm actually curious if it'sactually this pilot took
something from Brad Turner andis completely stoned out of his
mind at this point in time.
Like it hit him way too late
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (04:19):
Yeah.
The hallucination has nothing todo with the radar jamming.
This is just a side plot forthis one pilot who's tripping
out.
So look, the actual airbase iscalled McKenna airfield.
And the.
Lead of this project is namedMr.
McKenna.
So Mr.
McKenna, I guess has named theairfield after himself.
(04:43):
don't quite know if there's likeprivate sector, military, it's
all very confusing, but anyways,Mr.
McKenna, the project's leader, who by the way, has a little bit
of miles mayhem in him.
he walks outside.
He doesn't see this giant jetanywhere.
And that's when one of hislackeys runs out and says the
plane vanished.
It can't be.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (05:00):
100
percent right though.
And this guy looking like somelong lost mayhem cousin, maybe
that's how Miles found out aboutit.
They were all at Thanksgivingtogether, and McKenna is like,
uh, he had a little bit too muchto drink, and just started
mouthing off about his supersecret jet.
And Miles was like, huh, filingthis one away.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (05:19):
Cut
to the tracker mansion finally
uh, after.
Months and months away fromhome.
Mr.
McKenna is talking to Matt inhis computer room and says since
you're the principal investor inproject Hermes, you should be
aware of some strange going onand Matt says, what's wrong?
Dutch, not more reports ofgremlins in the cockpits.
(05:41):
So there's a lot of things Iwant to unpack here.
One, this is furtherconfirmation that Matt tracker.
Is an arms dealer.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (05:51):
100%.
yeah, but
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (05:53):
He's
got on Dutch.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (05:54):
his name
then is Dutch McKenna.
That's his name.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17 (05:58):
Unless
that's his nickname.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (06:00):
So does
Matt basically like give
nicknames to the people whoseprojects he's invested in?
I'm gonna call you Dutch, but myname's Carl.
No, you're Dutch now.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (06:10):
Or
it comes from what countries he
launders the money through tofund these.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (06:19):
You're
Dutch.
You're Nairobi now, that's yournew name, sir.
So what is it Matt invested in?
And I have to ask you a questionbecause like, if you remember
back in the, the whole robot subaffair, he was super pissed, Bye
bye.
When he found out the sub waslike missing and no one talked
(06:41):
to him So do you think heactually gave all of his
investments of talking to afterthat one?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (06:48):
For
sure.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (06:49):
Like he
gets them all together.
Listen you fucks.
I own you if Anything happens towhat you're working on.
I am to be your first call.
Do you understand?
squadcaster-a671_1_ (07:01):
Absolutely.
This guy definitely heard themessage loud and clear and he is
sweating it.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (07:07):
He is!
How nervous is this man?
Do you see him with ahandkerchief?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (07:12):
Yeah.
He's like dabbing sweat off hisbrow.
He's so nervous to be tellingMatt this.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (07:15):
And then
the final bit is Matt is asking
him about gremlins in thecockpit, so I was, I wanted to
ask you, do you think thisimplied that a formal report was
given to Matt at some point intime, and they literally used
the phrase, we have gremlins inthe cockpit?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (07:32):
Look,
to the masqueraders defense
gremlins in the cockpit is whatthey said.
At least I know during World WarII, when there were issues with
the flying fortresses and stufflike that.
So I will give them that.
However, I think it would behilarious if Matt didn't know
that what do you mean?
Gremlins, like little greenpointy ear
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (07:54):
ha ha ha
Ha.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2024 (07:56):
I
loved that movie.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (07:58):
I, I
want To give you an award right
now for the Writers DefenseFund.
Um, Because I think this is thefirst time you've ever gone to
bat for the writers of thisshow.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2024 (08:10):
I
want to thank you so much.
I do believe that we havetrashed these writers so much.
That I'm proud to, to give whatI can to help these writers.
These men and potential womanout.
pj_1_09-17-2024_10045 (08:22):
applause.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (08:23):
So
it turns out this big giant
cargo jet was supposed to becarrying the real investment,
which is the Hermes jet, or as Ilike to call it, the Hermes jet.
And uh, Matt learns it is gone.
It's just disappeared.
He says disappeared a 10 toncargo plane.
Come on Dutch So the I lovedMatt's line, but the 10 ton
(08:46):
cargo plane That threw me off alittle bit.
Can we do a little math on howheavy a cargo plane weighs?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (08:53):
Yeah.
So I was like, when I think of amilitary cargo jet or a plane, I
should say the first one thatalways comes to mind is the C
130 Hercules, because that'syour typical one.
And that weighs in just about 38tons.
And then I was like the C 5Galaxy, which is the Lockheed
one is 187 tons.
(09:15):
And you pointed out the Antonov.
That weighs in at 285 tons, andI want to say all of these are
presumed to be empty.
no fuel, And my, I have a FordTransit F 350 that weighs 5
tons,
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (09:29):
right
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (09:30):
and a
typical school bus weighs 10
tons.
So someone did not do theirresearch here
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (09:38):
that
Matt has also been You Funding
that also allows a Camaro tofly.
So it could be that.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (09:47):
Touche,
sir.
I guess
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17 (09:53):
you've
turned to the other side, Adam,
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (09:56):
up.
Indeed.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (10:02):
all
love to our peers in the mask
podcasting community.
I joke because I love uh, well,we find out that if they don't
get this plane back before it'sscheduled to be shown to the
army brass tomorrow and Mattresponds, I get it.
The entire project could take atail dive So matt you mean nose
dive that the line is nose diveclearly I don't know what a tail
(10:24):
dive is, but you're better thanthat matt.
Anyways, matt says he'll lookinto it.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (10:30):
I want
to ask you a question.
In our lifetime, we've had onemajor.
Head to head competition I guesstwo technically, but really like
really more like one, which wasthe YF 22 versus the YF 23,
right?
these were military jets beingdeveloped by private entities.
If one of those jets had gonemissing, which contains
(10:54):
dramatically classified materialwithin it Would you expect the
military should be told?
squadcaster-a671_1_09- (11:01):
probably
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (11:02):
Because
in this case, they're not.
In fact, the company is going togreat lengths to hide this fact
from the military and insteadthe company went to their chief
investor.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (11:15):
right
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (11:17):
Okay, so
they're like really keeping this
on the hush hush.
And then one last technicalpoint, which bugged me, wouldn't
they be showing this to the airforce, not the army?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (11:27):
Yeah,
it would make sense.
But I will point out that whenthey eventually do show the
military brass, they are wearingthe blue uniform that is typical
of the air force.
or whatever branch of themilitary miles mayhem is a part
of.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (11:38):
Okay, so
Dutch is just an idiot then.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (11:42):
Yeah,
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (11:43):
Even
know which branch of the
military he's selling.
Great.
Okay.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (11:47):
yeah,
exactly.
Oh boy, what has happened?
Oh no.
Uh, well, I'm going to use thisopportunity to formally retire.
And I will be joining MassCastfor the next episode.
We cut to Thunderhawk driving inthe desert.
Of course, Matt brings Scott andT Bob along cause that's what
(12:09):
you do.
Turns out they've been toMcKenna Flats before.
And once again, confirming thatthis entire place, I guess, is
named after Mr.
McKenna.
pj_1_09-17-2024_10045 (12:19):
wondering
if it's a family property.
This is like Yellowstone likethe Yellowstone Dutton Ranch,
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (12:24):
yes,
if Yellowstone developed top
secret aerospace vehicles forthe military.
Sure.
In the Car, Scott says, Rememberthe last time that cowboy taught
me to ride his horse?
Matt says he doesn't expect tosee many cowboys or anyone in
this town again.
(12:45):
Quote, After the factory closed,Almost everyone moved out.
It's probably a ghost town bynow.
So another victim of TrackerIndustries shipping jobs
overseas.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (12:56):
Look
man, he's got to fill that
office building in Hong Kongsomehow.
But you see the self, selfsatisfied look on his face when
he tells Scott this?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (13:07):
Yeah.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (13:07):
It's
like he knows what he did to
this town.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (13:10):
He
single handedly destroyed a
town.
Because he even says he's likethe factory.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (13:15):
I know!
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (13:15):
As
if Scott knows.
Like Scott knows exactly whathe's talking about.
How
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (13:20):
Oh yeah,
I remembered that.
I remember the tears.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-1 (13:25):
weren't
there.
We were in Paris.
But the twist is we cut toThunderhawk driving into town
and it's a bustling town.
I mean, There's a rock and rollsoundtrack and the whole town is
booming.
It's like the Truman show inthere.
And uh, they parked the car,Matt goes inside somewhere.
And meanwhile, Scott and T Bobare approached by a little girl
(13:47):
who thinks that T Bob is one ofthose coin operated rides and
she's like, can I ride him?
And the mom says, sure, he lookssafe.
And so the mother shoves aquarter into T Bob's face and
then the girl climbs on boardand Scott tells T Bob to play
along.
And I'm concerned about thequarter being shoved into the T
Bob's face and causing some kindof a short circuit.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (14:08):
The
counterpoint to this is Scott's
done so much damage to T Bob.
I don't know if a quarter'sactually gonna do anything at
this point in time.
So much has been done to T Bob.
He's been put in the dunks somany times, it's like what more
damage do you think is going tooccur?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (14:24):
Very
true.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (14:25):
I did
find it funny, the girl, when
she like gets on, like startsbanging on T Bob's head to get
going.
And this is for me, his RoyBatty moment.
Cause then he just startsscooting around like crazy.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (14:38):
For
sure.
Uh, yeah, one wrong turn and hecould have.
Injured or killed that girl.
he's not at his Roy Batty momentyet, but he's inching close to
it.
Meanwhile, we find out thebuilding Matt went into is a
bakery and it turns out businessin town has been booming ever
since Cal gyps gypsum moved infrom out of state.
(14:58):
the baker says they're kind ofstrange.
They just come in to get whatthey need and they leave.
The owner points out a check onthe wall, which was the first
big Order he got from Cal chips, which I just, I just need to
say, how many baked goods isthis company ordering that the
guy for a, they'd pay in a checkand be that the guy would want
(15:20):
to put the check on the wall andnot.
If they're struggling, wouldn'the want to cash the check?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (15:25):
It's a
good, it's a good point.
Maybe he asked for the canceledcheck back after or something
like that.
But yes,
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (15:31):
Now
you too are defending the
writers,
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (15:33):
I
haven't, I have an answer later
on for why the order is so big.
So I can actually justify thatone.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (15:41):
All
right.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (15:42):
I was
curious Matt is so fucking
concerned that this town isgetting back on its feet.
He's just got these looks thatare not happy.
He's just really suspiciousbecause he expected this to be a
shithole and it's not.
And so I'm like, Matt, did youmove the jobs overseas?
And now you're upset thatsomeone else has stepped in to
(16:04):
help these people out.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (16:05):
No
one rebuilds a town that I
destroyed.
After the baker walks away, Iguess into the back room, Matt
does this really suspiciousbackwards walk and then whispers
to T Bob to take a picture ofthe check on the wall.
And he says, I'll explain later.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (16:21):
okay.
One little world building bithere.
It's more like world continuingis that this is confirmation
that Scott's installation of thecamera stayed in, right?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (16:31):
so
they leave the bakery, they get
back to Thunderhawk, and Matthas the computer analyze the
photograph that T Bob took.
And it turns out the handwritingon the check matches Miles
Mayhem.
And I Love that Miles signs hisown checks.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (16:46):
Miles is
a man of great detail.
He also believes in shoppinglocal and small town America.
But you're right.
I mean, This being the clue ispretty hilarious.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (16:57):
Look,
he may be a supervillain, he is
an America First supervillain.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (17:02):
That he
is.
That he is.
He saved this small town.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (17:06):
Once
Scott realizes it's Venom, he's
super psyched.
Oh wow, Venom, this is gonna beexciting.
And Matt says, what do youthink?
Sorry, Scott, you're staying intown.
There could be trouble.
How does Scott not know this iswhat's going to happen?
Like he's super excited.
every time he gets excited andthen it gets shot down and gets
very forlorn.
It's like, you know, this iscoming.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (17:28):
He's a
boy of eternal hope, man.
Matt has not yet broken hisspirits.
I will point out, so Matt'sgonna have Scott staying in a
town that's been bought by MilesMayhem.
Does Matt have any idea thatthis isn't some kind of Potemkin
village?
It's maybe this is actuallyVenom's training ground and
everyone's a Venom agent
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (17:48):
Yep
well, Father of the Year nominee
right here.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (17:51):
right
here.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (17:52):
We
go into the agent selection
scene.
Here we go.
We've got a classic on ourhands.
Bruce Sato, he is demonstratinga toy car that is controlled by
a flashlight.
So wherever the light goes, thecar goes.
He gets the call, runs out ofthe room, and then turns on the
lights.
And the car goes completelyhaywire crashing into the three
execs who are watching the demo.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (18:14):
Yeah,
did you notice this was actually
kind of a longer scene?
This was a straight up miniscene rather than the typical
vignette we get.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (18:22):
love
that Bruce purposefully turns on
the lights as he's leaving.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (18:26):
know! A
lot of A lot of purpose in this
set of vignettes.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (18:30):
Yeah,
a hundred percent because Dusty
Hayes is next and he's usingsome crazy high tech pizza dough
making machine.
It looks like it comes out oflike the mask computer.
And then his watch goes off andhe runs out, but not before he
quite obviously.
Turns the machine into highgear, which sends dough flying
everywhere.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (18:49):
This was
an amazing fuck you moment.
there's a certain degree oflike, yeah, it's not clumsy.
He intentionally turned thesethings on and it's go to hell
everybody.
Did you notice?
I think he was the same dudethat nearly died with the
stacked plates.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (19:04):
Yeah.
So this is a posthumous rag,Slyrax rag doll award, right?
That this guy died maybe twice.
He might've died with theplates.
He might've also died when hefell off the ladder.
In a few episodes earlier andnow he's back again.
So this is the uh, Ragdollaward.
Congratulations.
(19:25):
Unnamed long suffering employee.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (19:28):
Why does
Dusty hate him so much?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (19:32):
Maybe
he's tried to make a pizza once
and Dusty got really pissed offand is like, no, make pizza.
You do everything else.
The third member of the team is.
Gloria Baker, champion racedriver, black belt in Kung Fu,
Team Hottie.
She is teaching a lesson in apark, and she gets the call, and
(19:53):
she runs off.
And these guys that she'straining, they stay in place as
long as they can, like they holdthe pose she was showing them,
until they all fall down.
And my question was, how scaredof Gloria are they, that they
don't want to move, even aftershe's clearly run away?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (20:09):
I mean,
Let's look at the evidence she
has disintegrated rock beforetheir eyes, Is She has tossed a
man twice her size with ease.
I'm pretty sure that Gloriacomes from the Cobra Kai school
of thought.
We never see her, what she says, but I'm pretty sure it goes
something like, Defeat does notexist in this dojo, does it?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (20:30):
no
sensei.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (20:31):
Gloria
just knows how to run a tight
ship.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (20:33):
She
sure does in more ways than one.
Well, We cut to Boulder Hill andwe see all the vehicles roll
out.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (20:43):
this, so
here's an interesting point on
this.
This is not stock footagebecause Thunderhawk's not a part
of it.
Like they actually animate onlythe vehicles in the mission,
which I thought was kind ofinteresting.
It's like they had to actuallyspend the time with it.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (20:56):
Yeah,
I noticed that too.
I was like, oh cool.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (21:00):
in
general, the animation,
especially when it comes to theaction stuff is pretty high bar
in this episode.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (21:05):
Yeah,
you know, it does have a bit of
an anime feel to it throughout.
I noticed so whatever group wasanimating this episode.
I think it's the same one thatdid video venom.
Which also has a similar animelook to it.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (21:18):
Yeah.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (21:18):
the
mask team is gathered together
and I don't think we have toworry too much about the the
time change because it seemslike they're all basically in
the area.
and uh, they're all gatheredaround the computer in Rhino
watching the Hermes jet fly.
And Gloria says, I've never seena Mach five handle like that.
Turns out this is a portablejet.
That can be taken apart andreassembled anywhere.
(21:38):
And that's quite the weapon ofmass destruction you've created
there, Matt.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (21:44):
funny,
for a man dedicated to peace,
his his money ends up going to alot of weapons of war, doesn't
it?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (21:50):
Yeah,
a hundred percent.
Yeah,
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (21:53):
some
salt flats, and did you notice
that besides that everyone elseare drivers, not flyers?
And in fact, gator and shark inparticular are more geared for
water.
squadcaster-a671_1_09- (22:05):
totally.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (22:06):
So I
would have thought you'd want
someone like Brad around just tolike, you know, have another aid
in the air since most of theaction is in the air.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (22:15):
Yeah,
for sure.
I mean, Rhino is definitely asurface to air weapon, right?
Um, So it's always a good oneto, and it's, it's tough, so
it's always a good one to havearound.
It's got the computer lab in theback.
Always good to have around.
Yeah.
Brad for sure would have been anobvious choice.
Gloria.
I don't think we need to ask whyshe's around.
She,
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (22:33):
I mean,
We'll never say no for a Gloria
mission because, you know, generally speaking, she's, you
know, one of the most competentagents that's there.
It's just kind of a question oflike, you know, would she be
better off as a side pilot for, like someone else?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (22:47):
well,
They gotta find this thing, and
they don't even know where, where to look.
And Bruce says, the haystack isa large place to search for the
needle.
And no one says anything.
no one swings at that.
They just all kind of pause andlook at him.
And wait to see if anyone'sgonna say anything and no one
does no one swings at the pitchThey just let it slide right by
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (23:06):
Yeah,
I'll say it's barely a sadduism
in time.
He's pretty much just reshuffleda really common saying.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (23:12):
yeah
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (23:14):
So I
mean, if, if Dusty didn't get
that one, I'm going to pick onDusty because he's the obvious
one.
I think the world is in trouble.
You don't get to have Gatoranymore, Dusty.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (23:24):
As
if on cue a big purple big rig
comes rolling through town themost conspicuous looking big rig
I've ever seen next to RhinoMask spots sly and cliff inside
the cabin as they drive by andMatt says let's nail him and so
off they, they ride to chaseafter the Venom big rig truck.
Scott convinces T Bob totransform into motor scooter
(23:47):
mode and follow after mask, andhe kind of plays the
technicality that dad said tostay in town.
And whatever is about to go downis technically going to happen
within the limits of the town.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (23:59):
I will
comment on this in a second
because like Scott is puttinghimself in trouble.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (24:04):
He
is, So they arrive at a bunch of
warehouses, like the warehousedistrict outside of town, and
Mask is spying on Sly and Cliff,Who are using forklifts to move
these big wooden crates around.
then we see Scott and T Bobwatching from the seat of an
unused forklift.
Scott decides to hop out and geta better look.
(24:24):
T Bob gets really concerned.
He starts flailing his arms, which causes the forklift to
start moving.
Matt sees Scott and T Bob, heyells, Scott, and this alerts
Venom to the fact that Mask isthere.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (24:36):
Yeah, a
few things on this one.
One, can we call out the clearOSHA violation that leaving your
keys in an unused forklift likeentails?
that's that's a big problemright there.
But, more to the point, this isdefinitely Scott's fault.
And, it doesn't happen as oftenas we thought it was going to
happen, but definitely this timeScott put himself into mortal
(24:59):
danger.
And you know, T Bob is just anidiot.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (25:02):
for
sure.
Matt did leave him on his own.
I'm, I am gonna put the blameback on the parent here.
He could've put him in Rhino'scomputer room.
Uh, And said, stay here, it'sthe safest place.
You can be because it's like themost heavily armored mask
vehicle rather than wanderaround a town for as long as it
takes for me to solve this case,
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (25:21):
That is
a really good point.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (25:23):
but
it's okay.
I think it's a draw.
It's really a wash here.
Cliff Tells Sly to keep him busywhile I get the truck out of
here.
So Sly hops into Piranha andstarts firing on Mask.
uses Lifter.
To lift Piranha into the air, dropping it and Sly into a vat
of chemicals.
(25:44):
So Sly drowns.
So let's keep track of this.
Sly drowns in the vat ofchemicals, because we see him
sink in his hand reaching up ashe goes under.
Then Sly somehow drives Piranhaout of the vat, but comes
crashing to the ground below.
So Sly I'm gonna say dies threetimes here.
He dies when he drowns, he diesfrom massive chemical burns from
(26:07):
whatever he fell into, and thenhe dies of blunt force trauma
when he crashes along withPiranha several stories down to
the ground.
So I guess we have three Ragdollnominations here, yeah?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (26:20):
It's
amazing in this scene, like, how
many ragdolls you get for poorSly.
I felt bad for him.
Can we talk about, for a second, that Bruce, for all intents and
purposes, is killing Sly?
He doesn't know what's in thosechemicals, as far as I know.
It could be acid, for all weknow.
And you're right, he's gonnadrown.
(26:40):
He's wearing his big leatherjacket and like, that stuff,
he's probably not gonna floatin.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (26:45):
And
he doesn't, he drowns.
So Bruce is ready to go.
Not the, there will be moreragdoll award nominations for
Sly later on in this episodebut, despite dying three times,
Sly stands up and he firesstiletto at Mask, accidentally
hitting an electrical box thatcauses a saw blade.
To go moving towards a bunch ofstacked up logs, which will fall
(27:07):
on top of Scott and T Bob ifallowed to keep going.
So, Here are the things thathave to go right here in order
for Scott to be put in mortaldanger.
Number one, the destruction ofthe fuse box needs to cause the
machine to turn on and not off.
Number two, the saw blade has tobe inexplicably mounted above a
(27:30):
door and then move laterallytowards a stack of logs.
Number three, the stack of logsmust be propped perpendicular to
the ground, which is rarely howyou stack a giant chunk of logs.
And number four, Scott and T Bobhave to be in the path of the
falling logs.
So that's a lot of things thathave to go right in order for
(27:50):
this to happen.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (27:51):
So
here's my explanation for it.
Remember that game mouse trap
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (27:55):
Yes,
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (27:56):
where it
was like the Rube Goldberg set
up that you had to like collectall the pieces and then trap the
mouse at the end.
And even if you got it allright, it never worked.
Scott and T Bob are the mice inthis case.
And.
And uh, way to go, Sly justfinally killed a kid.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (28:12):
he
hasn't killed Scott yet, because
we cut to black, so what's gonnahappen, PJ?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (28:17):
I don't
know, it's so scary.
I mean, He's in mortal danger.
Again.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (28:21):
We'll
find out, after these messages.
Come on, Jeebop.
Mask will be right back.
Oh, boy.
Back to mask.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (28:29):
And
we're back! When we left you,
Scott and T Bob were about to bekilled by a Rube Goldberg device
of death.
But don't worry, Matt flexes hisspectrum laser, and cuts all the
logs in half.
Aura, Lifter, and Backlash wouldhave been much more effective
than Spectrum Laser here, considering that Matt had to
count on pure luck that thesliced logs would fall to either
(28:52):
side of Scott, and that theshards wouldn't also impale him.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (28:55):
Yeah.
honestly like, this was a wastedopportunity for any other mask.
And actually, I think it wouldhave been cool to see a
combination of masks, becauseWe've seen Aura as a shield and
so like, shielding Scott and TBob, and then use Backlash to
blast the stuff out of the way, because it's more of a force
(29:16):
rather than a laser, but thenyou could also then use Lifter
to clear it at the same time, sothat would have actually been,
that would have been a very coolscene to have all three of
those.
Spectrum laser is the worstchoice in this situation.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (29:28):
we're
in agreement on that one it was
just a flex on Matt's part andhe almost lost his son as a
result.
So I'm actually going tonominate that for another Father
of the Year but Matt does runover to Scott and he shows
actual concern for his son.
So that was nice.
Matt scrolls out chasing afterthe Venom truck and Matt makes
good use of Spectrum to pick upVenom's trail through the
(29:50):
desert.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (29:50):
Yeah.
I mean, Again, just toreiterate, like we're having
spectrum be used here again.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (29:55):
Well,
It's weird that in a show called
Mask, PJ, that you would expectto see All the masks being used
in an episode.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (30:01):
It's my
fault.
I'm asking for too much.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (30:04):
Uh,
As they're rolling through the
desert, they see the Hermes jetor the Hermes jet flying above
them.
Matt transformed Thunderhawkinto jet mode to follow.
And are we to believe thatThunderhawk can go Mach five?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (30:16):
Okay,
man.
This would have been a greattime to have a line in there,
like I can only maintain it forlike X number of minutes.
And so I did a little researchon this one.
And so like the fastest jet, theX 15 flew something a little bit
north of Mach 6.
The SR 71, which is the spy jet, could fly around Mach 3.
(30:38):
4.
And the MiG 25 Foxbat could do,I mean that was, and this was a
fighter jet from the Soviets, itcould do about Mach 3.
2.
We're definitely in the SpaceMagic territory with Thunderhawk
going Mach 5.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17 (30:55):
That's
great.
Space magic.
That's what they're putting intothe masks at mask headquarters.
It's not radiation.
It's space magic.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (31:05):
Space
Magic!
squadcaster-a671_1_09-1 (31:07):
There's
a lot of confusion here because
Bruce can't pick up the jet onradar, even though Matt can see
it right in front of him.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (31:14):
Alright,
so this is where I want to
again, reiterate what I saidearlier.
This is a crazy bit oftechnology.
Because Venom's able to foolboth the jet itself and anyone
tracking it.
Stop for a second.
This alone is worth billions tothe military.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (31:28):
Yeah.
The only thing better would becloaking technology, right?
So even if you're looking at it,you can't see it.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (31:33):
Yeah,
but I mean, like, you know, this
basically means that you wouldbe invisible to any, or you'd be
misled to any surface to airmissile, at the very least.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (31:41):
Yeah.
So once again, Miles leaving amulti billion dollar Weapon
technology on the table thereJust to go after a jet Bruce
says even the wolf circles backleaving two sets of tracks to
confuse its pursuers, which I'mnot sure is true But anyways,
Dusty responds, huh?
I don't see no wolves must bewatching a different channel So
(32:05):
I think we've nominations herethe obvious one for Dusty That's
a layup.
You know, Bruce says something,Dusty doesn't understand it, so
that's easy.
The other one, though, is whenDusty says that he don't see no
wolves.
I Think it's really taking hissouthern hick persona to another
level.
So I'm going to go ahead andgive a nomination to the writer
or writers of the episode.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (32:26):
Well, I
mean, That just adds to their
Lifetime Achievement Award.
That's their permanent record.
And so, yeah, just add anothernotch to that belt.
Ha
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (32:35):
and
you said I was standing up for
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (32:36):
ha Ha!
Ah, redeemed, sir, redeemed.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (32:43):
Thank
you.
Thank you.
Matt realizes that Venom must besending out a false radar signal
to confuse the control tower, and they do a cool three way
intercut of Matt, Gloria, andBruce unwrapping Venom's plot,
and I'd like to note that Dustyisn't involved.
Because I guess he doesn't haveanything intelligent to add.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (33:01):
Yeah, I
noticed that, too.
squadcaster-a671_1_0 (33:03):
Meanwhile,
Miles and Vanessa are watching
the Hermes jet on a computerscreen and he activates the
landing field.
And this involves a huge swathof the land flipping around to
reveal a runway.
And then all these like.
Holographic buildings andhangers materialize out of thin
air.
(33:23):
And uh, that is a lot of effort.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (33:26):
It is a
lot of effort and I know I've, I
mentioned this earlier, but thisfelt on the order of the SDF 1
from Robotech transforming,
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (33:33):
Well,
it's, it's huge.
And I just wonder if theinvestment and the power
consumption is equal to whatthey're going to be getting in
return.
They're gonna get one advancedjet that transformation, it's
not like it transforms into arobot or anything.
It transforms into a smallerpackage.
So it can be, put on a jet andtaken somewhere, which, look at
(33:54):
aircraft carrier carriers andwhat they're able to do.
I don't think it's that big atechnology.
I guess it goes Mach five, butnonetheless, the investment in
everything miles had to do toget his hands on this prototype
jet just does not seem to add upthe math ain't mathen as they
say, but none of miles Plansrarely add up.
Meanwhile, back at the realMcKenna airfield, Mr.
(34:17):
McKenna himself is standingbehind the military brass.
Mr.
McKenna says, here she comesgentlemen.
And the jet lands and suddenlydisappears from their radar
screens.
And the lackey says itdisappeared.
And Mr.
McKenna says, I knew it.
I'm gonna be sick.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (34:36):
a couple
things here.
Like this is not the way to runa presentation.
he's like really relying on hopethat things are like come in.
And, he's still like hiding thefact that this thing may have
been stolen.
So like
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (34:50):
the
military.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (34:51):
military
and on top of that, when he's
like, I knew it, it's like, whywould you say that?
Like, why wouldn't someone comeup to me?
Like, Look, if you knew it, whywouldn't you say something to
us?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (35:01):
Also,
he could probably play it out
for a little bit and say, no itdidn't disappear, just seems
like it disappeared because theone thing we didn't tell you
about is that it's completelyundetectable to radar.
In fact, if you go out thereright now, you won't even see it
on the runway.
That's how I would do it if Iwas trying to protect my multi
billion dollar investment.
(35:22):
But I guess Mr.
McKenna rolls a different way.
We're back with Venom, the planelands, the pilot opens the
cockpit canopy and kind of looksaround and he says, looks like
no one's here to meet me.
And then hilariously, like adozen laser cannons pop out of
the runway and all point at thepilot.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (35:41):
Yeah.
So a couple of things, he didn'texperience the psychedelic
effects.
Cause I'm going to, and I'mgoing to double down on that guy
earlier was on drugs.
And if you really look at this, the jet and those guns really
look like they're just rippedout of Robotech.
I mean, I mean, It's gorgeous.
It's a gorgeous jet.
And uh, the guns, again if youtold me this is from Southern
(36:02):
Cross, I wouldn't have blinkedan eye.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (36:03):
Yeah,
this is definitely the um, the
Japanese animation house doingthis episode.
And we've seen at least twoother animation houses.
I think if you look at theepisodes we've watched so far
three distinct styles.
And I would say the anime styleis the strongest of all three.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (36:19):
Yeah,
100%.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17 (36:20):
Miles,
Cliff, and Sly, they've rise to
the surface in an elevator.
And it's like, this runway hasso many hidden trap doors.
It's like amazing.
Anything can actually physicallyrest on top of it.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (36:30):
Okay.
Here's the thing.
Say what you will about Venom, but between their earlier stunt
in the desert where they stolethat tanker from the military,
their heist of the Statue ofLiberty, and this, these guys
know structural engineering.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (36:44):
They
sure do.
miles says well, it appears 1billion has been airmailed right
into my hands off that offhandPJ.
What was the cost of like the F35 program?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (36:57):
Oh,
don't use the F 35.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (36:59):
Okay.
Let's go back to the eightiesand talk about,
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (37:01):
go like
the F 22 development costs
because that's more in line.
the program cost was 67 billion.
So that means that basicallyeach jet was about 350 million
per aircraft.
but figure, I mean, actuallylike, the development costs
probably would be a couplebillion dollars for this guy,
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (37:22):
point
being once again, I think miles.
Is undercutting it by severalorders of magnitude here.
well, Matt spots the fakeairbase from above.
And meanwhile, we're back insidethat airbase and a bunch of
random venom henchmen aretransforming the Hermes jet and
getting it ready for transport.
And they've got the pilots heldprisoner.
And Vanessa uses whip on one ofthem, knocking him out.
(37:44):
And she is really the most evilvenom character.
Like we've talked about herbeing a boar dilettante, but I'm
starting to think that she's apsychopath as well.
And Miles, by the way, gets agreat laugh out of it.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (37:55):
I Love
what she says.
She's like, don't try anythingsmart, or I'll give you a taste
of this.
And then she says, whip on.
And she fucks that guy up.
He is on his ass.
And it's like, what would havebeen really like if you was
trying to hurt him?
So you're right.
She's kind of a psychopath.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (38:12):
she's
so much of a psychopath, I'm
surprised she's not part ofMask.
Hehehehehehehehe matt, flyingoverhead says when Venom moves
in, real estate goes down.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (38:24):
Alright,
I want to, I want to counter
this.
Strictly speaking, this is nottrue.
Because Venom saved this townfrom economic ruin?
And what Mask is about to dolikely destroys that town again.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17 (38:37):
That's
so true.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (38:39):
There's
been one economic font, which
has been Venom, supplying moneyto this town, and Mask is
cutting that off.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17 (38:47):
That's
one thing we don't follow up on.
Is what happens to the townafter this mission.
Matt drives through a few monthslater with a self satisfied look
on his face as he sees all thestorefront shuttered and now the
mom and the little girl, likebegging for change on the side
of the road uh, Matt well, we'refinally here.
The final mask venom battle ofthe episode.
And what's cool is I actuallygot a four on four battle.
(39:09):
We've got Thunderhawk shark,Rhino, and Gator versus
switchblade, Manta, Piranha, andJack hammer.
And I'm not sure we've hadanything this.
Big before because Manta isn'ttraditionally up to this point,
hasn't necessarily been in allthe battles before.
So this might be our, our, ourbiggest one before, but we got
laser rays, everywhere, missilesbeing fired.
one of them hits Piranha andsends Sly flying into the air,
(39:33):
and he lands on a cactus.
So we got a ragdoll award again, for sure.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (39:38):
Yeah.
So generally speaking, this is avery cool battle.
And you're right.
This is the biggest battle forvehicles we've ever seen.
Definitely had more agents inthe past, like Rotex, Salt and
Liberty, but we've never hadthis many vehicles on vehicles.
And again, like this animationhouse is doing some awesome
stuff.
Like you get this like cool rackfocus when Miles is about to
(40:02):
fire his missile.
Venom vehicles jump out of thehangar.
This is legit Threats where allthese laser things are like
firing at Matt through the air,and Gloria basically, you're
right, she does not do very muchthis episode, but her stunt
skills as a driver are on fulldisplay, because she drives
through this, the field of allthe lasers firing at her, and
(40:23):
she basically dodges
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (40:26):
It's
very cool.
Hey, look, the theme songpromises Come see the laser rays
and they delivered in spadesthis
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (40:33):
Yes,
they did.
They did.
There's lots of laser rays.
There is this one cool shotwhere like when Gloria goes into
the base where you see thesehenchmen at either side of the
door, like about to try and, Idon't know, stop her.
And she just blows through them.
And the doors land, these aremetal doors that land on these
guys.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (40:53):
well
done, Gloria.
You increased the body count ofthis episode.
Speaking of, as you point out,Gloria, she rides into the
hangar and she finds the Hermesjet already transformed and on
the plane.
Plus she sees the pilots heldcaptive.
But back on the surface, Bruceuses Rhino to cause a giant
boulder to fall on top ofJackhammer.
(41:14):
So that boulder is so big thatit crushes Jackhammer, like
flattens Jackhammer.
So Cliff is definitely dead uh,after this.
And so we have yet anotherRagdoll nominee in this episode.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (41:28):
So many
ragdolls.
Can we again, take a moment thatBruce has successfully killed
not one, but two Venom agentsthis episode.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (41:38):
and
Gloria said I'll, I'll see you,
and she kills two henchmen.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (41:45):
Ragdoll
is all over the place this time.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (41:47):
Matt,
by the way.
The way he has this greatmaneuver where he's being
followed by a missile fromswitchblade and he heads like
down into a canyon and thenflies straight up the canyon
wall flips upside down and landsa shot on switchblade.
This battle, as you pointed out,is what we come to mask for.
This may be.
(42:08):
The best battle we've seen thewhole series so far.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (42:12):
I agree.
Again, the animation's topnotch, the maneuvers are really
cool.
It's almost a Cool stuff fromThunderhawk.
We get to see cool stuff fromSwitchblade.
We get to see cool stuff fromGloria driving.
We even get to see cool stufffrom Rhino destroying Not much
from Gator or Manta.
Those are kind of unfortunatelylike, whatever battles happening
(42:34):
is happening off screen and It'stoo bad because, we really don't
see enough of Vanessa doing coolvehicle stuff.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-1 (42:42):
Agreed.
well, Switchblade crash landsmiles says, if I can't have the
jet, no one will.
So miles triggers a bomb with a60 second timer.
Now all of mask is inside theunderground base and Bruce is
working on diffusing the bomb, but he needs a Bobby pin.
And so Gloria takes off herhelmet.
(43:02):
And gives him one.
one Thing I want to point out isthat the timer hits zero before
Bruce puts the Bobby pin in todo whatever it is he's going to
do, like it clearly hits zerobefore he even puts it in.
So maybe if they just didn't doanything, the bomb wouldn't have
gone off.
Maybe Cliff put it together andit, it wasn't going to go off
anyways, but there you have it.
(43:23):
Matt says, Gloria, we owe youour lives.
And Gloria says, and you owe mea trip to the beauty shop and
everyone busts out laughing.
It's not really that funny guys.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (43:33):
No,
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2024 (43:34):
I
Do want to nominate this for the
misogyny subcategory, prior toour discussion, I really felt
that this was Gloria's only usein the entire episode is to give
Bruce a bobby pin.
On second thought, she has somepretty awesome driving.
She does alert people to thefact that there's a bomb there,
but that is kind of all she doesin the episode.
So I'm on the fence.
(43:55):
I don't know what you think.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (43:56):
This is
like the chronic problem is like
we have seen her badasserybefore and she's chronically
underutilized and You know, itreally speaks to this
constipated issue that the execshad in the 80s with this belief
that they couldn't have women dobadass shit.
And because it's like, Oh, ithas to appeal to the boys.
(44:16):
And it's kind of like, you knowwhat, it would have been awesome
to have Gloria do more awesomestuff.
I mean, She saves the day inAssault on Liberty with what she
did with Aura she is immenselycapable, but again, they just,
they give her the short trip sooften and I, let's be frank,
like they never produced sharkas a toy.
And this is a huge slap in theface, and it is the most desired
(44:41):
toy of any mask fan that's outthere.
I think the point stands, frankly, that, even though she
did more than just give over thebobby pin I think her, like so
many other agents, we'll commenton this on Hondo all the time,
critically underused andcriminally underused to be
frank.
So I think your point stands.
(45:02):
So let's nominate the writersfor misogyny subcategory here.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (45:06):
Thank
you, sir.
Okay, nomination accepted Well,we now cut to you know the next
day.
Everything's fine The Hermes jetis flying overhead for the army
brass mask and a bunch ofonlookers just random folks who
have somehow gotten on to aMilitary base and Bruce says
(45:26):
Matt looks like your investmentis going to pay off Rad.
Did he really say rad?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (45:31):
So it
actually was, spoken by Dusty
and what he was saying wasright.
Okay.
But he said it was such a drawlthat it sounded like rad.
And it's so hard to see Dustytalking because it's such a
quick shot.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (45:44):
Well,
that's What I get for only
watching the episode once theuh, the same girl from earlier
is there and she sees t bob andchases after him and then t bob
races off and matt says lookslike t bob just broke mach 6 And
everybody laughs
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (45:58):
I'm very
glad they paid off that checker
ops gun because otherwise Iwould have been very upset.
Follow up question.
What's going to happen to thetown now that Venom isn't
writing any more checks?
And, given the number ofhenchmen we saw, and there's
probably more off screen, we nowknow that Miles was placing big
orders in order to feed them.
That actually is thejustification.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (46:20):
Yeah,
I mean, as I pointed out
earlier, I think everyone shouldstart putting their property up
for sale and getting out ofthere as quickly as possible,
unless like this military baseis not, if they're like, great,
you've got the deal and they'regoing to start churning out
these these Hermes jets and theneveryone's going to be working
at the skunk works.
But I don't know if the town'sgonna survive.
Like I said, we'll see whathappens in a few months when
(46:40):
Matt rolls through there.
We cut to the more you know.
Scott and T Bob are carryingfirewood from the shed.
T Bob says to Scott, Is that allyou're gonna carry?
And Scott says, Dad said neverto carry more than you can
safely handle.
T Bob thinks he can save a lotof trips, but then he falls down
(47:00):
and a log falls on his head.
And this is barely a safetymessage.
It's the thinnest of messageswe've ever seen.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (47:08):
I'll
definitely say it's like, maybe
it's not the worst we've everseen, but it's definitely the
least memorable.
Cause it's like, all right,Don't carry a lot of stuff.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17 (47:16):
Right.
Right, don't carry a lot ofthings.
Which is what I try to tell mymom all the time.
She still made me carry things.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (47:24):
Wait,
your mom's Matt Tracker?
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (47:27):
Let's
check in with our awards.
Shall we?
How about the Buddy Hawks award?
What are you feeling?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (47:31):
Well, I
mean, I think Dusty Hayes
definitely wins it as acharacter for not, I mean, it's
a fairly standard, I don'tunderstand the sadduism.
But the writer is basically gota few notches for uh, their
continuous use of the Southerndrawl as well as the misogyny.
I that's, that's where I'mplacing them.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (47:47):
Yeah.
I like at the day.
I'm going to go with the writersfor their characterization of
Dusty throughout the episode Iain't see no I don't see no
wolves the fact that he'snothing intelligent to add when
they're Breaking down how venomis jamming radar.
I just think they exaggeratedhis southern hickness in this
(48:08):
episode And so I'm gonna awardthe Buddy Hawks award to the
writers for that one.
So, Congrats, writers! Anotherfor your shelf.
The Slyrax Ragdoll award.
We've got a lot to choose from.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (48:21):
Oh my
God, man, we've got, I don't
know, at least four instancesmaybe there's, he's going into
four or five.
I mean, He goes into the drinkand drowns.
He gets burned by acid.
He comes out of the drink andfalls down.
He goes, gets kicked off hisbike and goes against the
cactus.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2 (48:39):
his,
he gets
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (48:40):
yes.
Gets blown up.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (48:41):
and
flies, out High into the air.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (48:44):
Yes.
So there's, I mean, Sly, reallyowns it this episode.
It's maybe worthwhile to callout the other nominees, which is
Cliff's dead.
Like that boulder, there's zeroquestion that boulder killed
him.
And then we can just pour oneout for the two henchmen that
got, the steel doors blast ontothem.
But
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (49:03):
Yeah.
I think Sly Rax runs away withthis one.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (49:05):
I think
you're right.
It's just, there's too many togo with.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (49:08):
RIP
Sly.
We'll see you next episode.
Uh, Roy Batty moment?
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (49:14):
T Bob
and little girl.
he didn't go full Roy Batty, buthe wanted to.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-202 (49:19):
He
wanted to and he definitely is
traumatized because at the endhe runs away from the little
girl which sets up the, thecomic moment at the end.
That trauma suppressed over timewill eventually explode into his
real Roy Batty moment.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (49:32):
It's
coming.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (49:34):
and
now let's take a look at our
father of the year.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (49:37):
Well,
There's something interesting
here.
Like, I go back and forth onthis one, but there's one, it's
a little bit off screen.
But definitely implied.
It's like bringing your kid to atown that has a suspected heist
going on, it's not a great look.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (49:52):
No.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (49:52):
The only
explanation I had is that maybe
it was Brad Turner's turn to bea babysitter, and he was stoned
the fuck out of his mind.
So this was actually the bestchoice available.
In which case I don't know, justleaving your kid alone at the
town.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-2024 (50:08):
I
mean, I'm going to stay within
canon of the show and I'm goingto say, hey, leaving your child
alone in a town that is probablybeing supported by venom.
That is most certainly actuallybeing supported by venom.
With.
No friends, no one he knows, andbasically no instructions of
(50:30):
what to do uh, would be yourfather.
So he abandons Scott, is what hedoes.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (50:36):
Good
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (50:36):
quite
literally
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (50:37):
ha ha
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17-20 (50:38):
um,
with nowhere to go, nothing to
eat, nowhere to sleep, oranything like that, so.
for me, that's the father of theyear award for the episode.
So congrats, Matt.
That is it for episode 23.
Episode 24 is called counterclockwise caper.
Venom conducts heists of LasVegas casinos.
That's all that's written forit.
pj_1_09-17-2024_100453 (50:57):
Yeah I
am amazingly excited for this
next episode, because I havewatched ahead.
And we're gonna have a lot oftalking points on who Matt is
going to Las Vegas with.
And I also want to dive into adissection into the more you
know of the next episode of whatdo we learn in that more you
(51:19):
know.
it's not about the lesson of themore you know.
squadcaster-a671_1_09-17- (51:25):
Okay.
I am very much looking forwardto it.
