Welcome to the podcast. Episode75 being in the process of
transformation, I am coming inhot for this podcast. If you are
(01:14):
listening in live time. So thisepisode comes out on Tuesday. If
you are, when is it Tuesday? Theit's going to come out Tuesday,
April 22 it is actually Mondaynight, April 21 I have never,
probably recorded a podcast thislate in the game, but I have
just been really, really, reallybusy. Life has gotten a little
(01:36):
bit crazy, and I have beenspending a lot of wonderful,
truly amazing time with family, and I've really had to
constrain. We all go throughtimes where we really have to
constrain on what is the mostimportant. And I have been for
the last probably 15 days, constraining to my family and my
(01:57):
current clients. And it has beenreally wonderful. I'll tell you
one thing that's been reallywonderful is it has been
wonderful to be able to coach myclients when I have not been
able to be at home, to be ableto take my laptop and, you know,
deliver my coaching to them fromanywhere and everywhere. Has
been really, really convenient, but also really kind of amazing,
(02:18):
amazing to be in. Oh, just thecraziness of life and the most
wonderful parts of life, really, when you think about how
important spending time withfamily is, but also pretty
amazing to be able to serve myclients at the same time. I'm
coming in hot, not only withthis podcast, but I'm also
coming in hot telling you, ifyou are not on my email list,
(02:39):
you have probably not heardthat. I am doing a live master
class this week that has alreadybeen planned and prepped and I'm
ready to go that is called Threeweight loss essentials. I am
excited to share with you somenew concepts about the brain and
about emotional eating and aboutyou changing you in order to
lose weight forever. If you lovethe podcast, you are going to
(03:00):
want to sign up for this masterclass. I'm always trying to
think about you and think aboutmy clients and teach things in a
new way to help you understand.
You know, so often I will getpeople emailing me and saying
the way you describe emotionaleating, or the way you describe
my brain, or the way youdescribe in the moment when I
give in and just eat the thingand get the fuck it's or
(03:23):
whatever, the way I describe it,I resonate so much. I've had so
many people say that, and I loveit. And so what I'm constantly
trying to do is I'm constantlytrying to come up with new ways
to teach. And I feel like theway I am teaching this struggle
that so many women go through isvery unique. So I'm really
excited about this free masterclass. It will be on Thursday.
(03:45):
The link will be in the shownotes for you to sign up. The
link will also be, if you followme on Instagram, at modern body,
modern life, it will also bethere for you to sign up for
this master class. So let medive into what I'm going to be
talking about today, being inthe process of transformation. I
quite often talk about my workas being very transformative. I
(04:05):
think when you become a womanwho feels in control around
food, and you can do better ateating 95% of the time, that is
a transformation, and it notonly transforms your level of
peace and control of youreating. It transforms your body
and it transforms every area ofyour life. When you are dialing
(04:27):
in emotional eating, when youare dialing in understanding
your brain and upping yourawareness and up upping your
emotional intelligence, that isa transformation, and it affects
every area of our life. That'swhy I'm always saying this is so
much more than just weight loss.
It was so interesting yesterday,I had two calls. No, no, was it
(04:49):
yesterday? It was today. Oh mygosh. This has been a long it's
been a long few weeks. I had twocalls with two clients today,
and we talked about weight loss.
So they each had a 45 minutecall. Both are doing great. Both
are down in their weight. Andduring this 45 minute call, we
talked about what they wereeating, both of them for about
(05:09):
10 minutes. The rest of thetime, was talking about all of
the other circumstances andrelationships and elements to
their lives that is affectingthe way they eat as affecting
whether they follow through withtheir plan or not. It's
fascinating, and so this work istransformative. So I want to
tell you one of my best friends,Heather told me about a book
(05:31):
that I have almost finished. Ilistened to it on my long, three
and a half hour drive hometoday, and it is, and I just
loved it so much. And it hasnothing to do with weight loss,
but it does have to do withtransformation and up leveling
your life and and going to yourown next level. And I would
think goal achievement, anythingin that genre. This book will
(05:52):
speak to you. And it's not toobig of a book, too. I know
sometimes I get these books andI'm like, Oh, this is, this is
going to be a marathon. This onewas pretty quick, so I'm almost
done with it, but it's calledthe lion Tracker's Guide to
Life, and it's by a man namedBoyd Vardy, V, A, R, T, Y, and
I'm just listening to it onAudible, and I'm really loving
(06:13):
it's just fascinating. And it'stalking about lion tracking.
It's talking about his time inAfrica, and he talks it goes
really into deal about liontracking, and it's just really
fascinating. And it was fun toread a book that was different
than any other book I've neverlearned anything about. You know
what Safari life, or liontracking, or elephant track,
(06:34):
anything like that. So it wasreally fascinating. But I
already knew I was going to dothis podcast about, I think I
was going to call the podcastsomething about letting it be
hard, like being No, let me lookexactly well, I'm talking to
you. I'm just going to look inmy phone. What was the I was
going to call this podcast beingwilling to be bad at something.
That's what I was going to callthis podcast. And I was thinking
(06:56):
on the way home as I was, youknow, make pausing thing,
pausing my audio book, andtalking to my sister, and doing
all the things. And I wasthinking about this podcast
about being willing to be bad atsomething, because for so many
people, they just want this tobe perfect and easy. And let me
do this, and let me right away, let me start losing weight and
and have it be just a downwardslope. And I want to kick start.
(07:17):
And it's just this. We'reconsumed right now with this
fast, fast and easy. And so I'mlike, you know, what if we could
actually just allow ourselves tobe a little bad at something at
first? And the thing that's soironic, what I was thinking
about in the car is, is we dolet ourselves be bad at so many
other things, but for somereason, when it comes to our
eating, probably because we feellike we've been bad at it for a
(07:39):
long time, that we are just overit and we're wanting it to just
be done. That's probably whatthis is. But anyways, as I was
thinking about all that, he saidsomething in the book that I
literally paused, and I waiteduntil I pulled over for my
Starbucks run to actually playagain. And I wrote the quote
down in my phone, in my notessection on my phone. He said, I
(08:02):
needed to learn to be in theprocess of transformation, not
be transformed. Let me say thatagain. He was talking about his
journey of becoming becomingbetter and better at being a
lion tracker. But you can applythis to your life. I'm applying
it to mine. He said I needed tolearn to be in the process of
transformation, not betransformed. And another way I
(08:24):
kind of was thinking about thisis every once in a while I will
get I will work with a clientwho she will be in my program,
and she will be losing weightand doing a great job, but
really causing herself a wholebunch of unnecessary suffering,
with thoughts, like, I'm notdoing it perfectly. I'm not
doing it good enough, really, almost making the process even
(08:44):
harder. And with, like, the endgoal of, once I hit my goal
weight, once I hit those 15pounds, this idea like that, The
heavens are going to open, andall of a sudden, life is going
to be magical, and butterfliesare going to be flying around
you all the time, almost likeI'm obviously I'm exaggerating,
but almost like I am going tomentally whip myself until I
(09:06):
actually reach my goal weight, and then I'm going to be happy.
And it just doesn't work likethat. It just doesn't work like
that. So I always tell theseclients, hey, if you want to get
to your goal faster and easierand in a more lovely way. Let's
think about how you'll feel whenyou hit your goal. And I say,
(09:26):
how, how do you want to feel?
And so often, so many people saythe same things. They say they
want to feel confident. They saythey want to feel at peace, and
they say they and then theyoftentimes don't even say a
feeling, but they say, I justdon't even want to think about
this anymore. To me, that's kindof peaceful. I don't even want
to think about this anymore. AndI say, got it? You need to feel
(09:47):
that way now, as we're workingtogether on this, obviously you
have to think about it, becausewe're going through the process,
but we need to channel peace andconfidence now. We need to learn
to be in the process oftransformation and be. Be okay
with the process oftransformation, and not just be
waiting for the transformed atthe end of it, not just be
waiting for the weight loss, notjust be waiting to make the
(10:10):
money you want to make, not justbe waiting for the promotion.
But can we be okay in theprocess? Can we actually enjoy
the process? I think if youlearn to love the process of
transformation, you will again, transform faster, easier, and
it'll just be so much morelovely. I really believe that
(10:32):
weight loss can be a lovelyprocess, because again, not only
will you be losing weight andlooking in the mirror and
winking at yourself like you'relooking good sister, but you're
going to be able to improveevery area of your life. When it
comes to so many things in life,we are willing to be bad at
first, I was thinking aboutthis. I'm like, Okay, are we
(10:52):
willing to be bad at somethings? We really are. Like, we
know we need to allow ourselvesto be bad in order to get good.
Like, think about your job orwhat you went to school for. I
have a lot of clients that arenurses and dentists, doctors,
lawyers, teachers, estheticians, principals. I'm trying to think
of other other women I'm workingwith and what they are. That's a
(11:14):
lot of them. I get a lot ofnurses. Anyways, I get a lot of
these amazing women doingamazing things right? And on
their first day of college, oron their first day of medical
school, or dentist school oresthetician school, whatever it
is, or their first day ofresidency, or their first day,
you know, what is it where youhave to go in and be like, teach
(11:34):
under someone on your first day?
You weren't like, you betterfucking do this, right? Maybe
you were saying that toyourself, but like, that's
crazy, you probably look backnow and said and said to
yourself, God, I should havegiven myself a bit of a break.
We don't expect to know all thethings at first, but for some
reason, when it comes to ourbody and our weight loss and all
that, we just want, we want tobe transformed. We don't want to
(11:57):
be in the process oftransformation, and I think I
kind of uncovered this at first.
I think it's because we've beendoing it for so long that we
feel tired, we feel worn out. Ican't tell you how many women
have joined my program and said,This is my last chance. And it
always breaks my heart to hearthat, because that is very I
(12:18):
want to be transformed right nowenergy when this is a beautiful
transformation. And so here'sone thing I want to tell you
right now, if you are hearing meand you're saying, yes,
Courtney, you're right. I'vebeen doing this for a long time,
I want to question whetheryou've been doing my process for
a long time, because going ondiets, totally restricting,
(12:42):
mentally, whipping yourself, trying to be perfect for a long
time, is very different. Whatwe're doing here at modern body,
modern life in my program. So ifyou are coming to my master
class on Thursday, if you have Ihave a few people that have
scheduled consultations with me.
If you have that scheduledcoming up, if you are planning
on reaching out and schedule aconsultation, if you want to
(13:04):
join one of my groups, pleaseknow this is going to be a first
for you. This isn't going to behere we go again. This is going
to be, let's go. Let'stransform. Let's try something
that we have never tried before, because that's what the women in
my program will tell you. Theyhave never done anything like
what they've done before in myprogram, a mistake I see people
(13:25):
making very often is they wantit to be a quick fix again,
because I think they've beendoing this for a long time.
Let's talk about what happenswhen you're willing to be in the
process of transformation. Oneof the first things that happens
is you don't take setbacks sobadly or so seriously. You are
willing to mess up. Because I'mconstantly telling everyone,
(13:48):
okay, you mess up, and come backto me with your mess ups. It's
hard. It can be hard at firstfor especially women that are
very type A and they're likerule followers, and they they've
been on diet after diet afterdiet, and they're so used to
they're so used to really onlyseeing results, meaning losing
weight when they do thingsperfectly, but when you really
buy into the transformationalprocess, you're willing to work
(14:12):
hard and mess up and have it beokay, especially with me as your
coach, saying, Ooh, let's diveinto that. Oh, let's see why you
did that. And oh, let'scelebrate your wins along the
way too. Another thing thathappens when you are allowing
yourself to be in the process oftransformation is you give
(14:32):
yourself a little more grace.
You're not in such a rush.
You're not in such a rush to beat the end, you're not you're
not so insistent on transformed.
You're allowing thetransformation. And let me tell
you, everyone's transformationis very different. In my
program, yes, we've got theweight loss, but the the amount
(14:53):
of weight loss is different. Theway they get there is very
different. The obstacles theyovercome are quite different. I.
Another thing that happens whenyou're willing to be in the
process of transformation is yougive yourself time to do it
right. If you have beenstruggling, like so many of my
clients have for 2030, yearswith this, can you give yourself
(15:14):
three months, six months, to doit right?
You know, if you look at yourteaching credential. How long it
took for you to feel like, Hey,I'm getting really good at this.
Can you give yourself time to dothis and to do it right? So can
you allow yourself to love theprocess of transformation? Can
(15:35):
you identify with, Oh, I ambeing transformed. I am in the
process. Are you in the process, and are you doing good at being
in the process? I said to one ofmy clients today, and she really
is working on gaining moreconfidence. And I said to her, I
said, I want to make sure yousee that there is a really
(15:56):
strong level of confidencealready inside of you. And I
wanted her to see that and thenbe able to acknowledge, let's
build upon that. Sometimes wecan get in a space of where
we're like, I want to be moreconfident. I need to more be
more confident. And it's so goodto start with, wow, I actually
am kind of a badass. How am Ialready there? So how are you
(16:18):
already in the process oftransformation? If you're
listening to this podcast, Iselfishly want to think that you
already are allowing thispodcast to be a part of your
transformation. So my friend, that is all I have in me.
Tonight, I need to edit thispodcast and get it all ready to
go for you. So tomorrow morning, those of you that are going to
(16:39):
go on your walk or go on yourdrive or listen, we'll have it
ready to go. I would love foryou to share this podcast with a
friend. If you have a friendthat you think would really
benefit, it would mean so muchfor for me to for you to send it
you can literally, like, shareit, like, text it to her. It
would be so great. And I hope tosee you at my three weight loss
(17:00):
essentials master class. Thelink is in the show notes. And
hey, schedule a consultation. Ifyou're wanting to talk about the
different ways you can work withme and get this done, fix this
area of your life for good, I'mhere for you. Have a great
