Hey there, kindred spirits. Welcome to
Modern Life and Spirit podcast.
It's Christina Wooten, certifiedpsychic medium at
SedonaMedium.com Welcome to ourepisode today. This week has
been full of just interestingsurprises, beautiful things, all
beautiful things. I had theopportunity to meet with someone
who I haven't seen since beforethe pandemic, so it's been so

(00:49):
long. And we met down by OakCreek, and it was just the
perfect place for a little bitof spiritual refreshment and
nourishment and land connectionand, uh, I mean, really, the
power of being out on the land, wherever you are, is really

(01:09):
incredible. And it reminds me ofhow important it is as empaths
and people who are energysensitive to pay attention to
your environment if you'reneeding to shift some things up
for you internally, you know, shift up your environment a
little bit in the process.
Change where you're working, change where you're hanging out.

(01:31):
Just give it a try, because ourenvironment really can sometimes
be that perfect dose ofinspiration, of nurturing, of
connection that you might justbe missing. So just a little bit
of a thought, especially aswe're still in this middle of
the retrograde, time to changeit up. Now is the time to

(01:52):
introduce some interestingthings and revisit how it is
that we're doing things. I amglad that you're here for the
second part of our specialseries. In this series, we are
exploring the five lovelanguages, but not just from the
perspective of our relationshipswith others, but this is really

(02:13):
about how we experience andexpress love in our connection
with spirit, and I'm sharingsome of my nuggets of wisdom
that I got from the book Godspeaks your Love Languages by
Gary Chapman. And also I'msharing my insights as a psychic
medium, intuition, teacher, energy practitioner, and kind of
bringing those together to takea look more deeply at how the

(02:35):
love languages impact ourrelationship with spirit. So if
you missed the very firstepisode. Please make sure that
you check that out. We talkedabout the love language of
physical touch, but I alsointroduced the concept of what
we're talking about a little bitmore deeply than I'm going to be
talking about here. And so Iencourage you to listen to that,

(02:58):
and then encourage you to alsolisten to this words of
affirmation episode. So if youaren't familiar with the five
love languages, which was firstintroduced by Dr Gary Chapman,
I'm going to give you a briefsynopsis of the concept. The
concept of the Five LoveLanguages is that they reveal

(03:19):
the unique ways that we give andreceive love. So each of us has
a natural preference, whetherit's through words or actions,
time touch or gifts, that makesus feel more deeply seen and
appreciated in ourrelationships, and when we
understand our own love languageas well as the people around us,

(03:42):
we can create more fulfillingand harmonious relationships.
You know the concept being thatif you are trying to demonstrate
your love for another personthrough acts of service, but
perhaps their love language iswords of affirmation, they're
not going to feel as fulfilledeven though you're making all of

(04:04):
this effort and trying andshowing up for them, unless it's
connected with how they normallyreceive or understand love. It
may be hard for them tointerpret your actions and your
service as being demonstrationsof love. So understanding this
about how other people receivethat love and also how that

(04:28):
relates with how we express ourlove can be really helpful. But
what we're exploring in thisepisode is how to apply that
understanding of the lovelanguages with our spiritual
connection and with ourrelationship with the divine.
Obviously, the divine speaks allof the love languages, right?

(04:50):
But we may feel and recognize itbest when we are speaking and
receiving love in our naturallove language. So in this
series, we're looking at. Whatpractices can help you more
fully dive into expressing yourlove language and getting the
benefits of that in yourspiritual life. Or for those who

(05:10):
want to just more fluently speakthe many different love
languages without being limitedto one or two, you are
absolutely welcome here as well.
So as I said in this episode,we're going to be talking about
the love language known as wordsof affirmation. Words of
Affirmation are all aboutexperiencing love through spoken
appreciation, through words ofencouragement, through

(05:32):
thoughtful expressions, and forthose that have this as their
primary love language, hearingkind words, receiving thoughtful
compliments or just realencouragement. Not only feels
nice, it feels validating. Itfeels reassuring. A really
authentic I'm proud of you, or agenuine you inspire me really.

(05:58):
Keep it simple, right? A simpleand heartfelt, genuine Thank you
can make such a big differencein feeling seen and valued. And
it's not just about complimentsor praise. This is important to
understand. It's aboutcommunicating support and love.
Someone with this love languagemight express their love through

(06:22):
poems, singing, songs, a wellwritten card, gushy things that
they say to you.
But here's what I think thatI've discovered about this love
language that's so important, the words are just communicating
a feeling. The feeling of beingvalued and cherished is the most

(06:47):
important. The words are reallyjust the vehicle for that. So
saying words when you don't havethe feeling there to someone
with a words of affirmation, love language, it doesn't work.
It can't be empty or hollowwords. It's one thing to just
say thanks as you run out thedoor, but it's an entirely

(07:10):
different thing to say, I'm sograteful for your presence in my
life. Thank you so much. Toreally sit with that, to express
that, to mean it in your heartwhen you say it. I think that
there's a really interestinglink between this love language.
And there's a book called TheFour Agreements by Don Miguel

(07:32):
Ruiz. And if you have this lovelanguage, or you know someone
who has this love language, Iencourage you to really dive
deeper into the first agreementfrom this book about cultic
wisdom, the very first agreementis to be impeccable with your
word. This is a reminder thatyour word has creative power,

(07:57):
and as you use your words, howimportant it is to speak into
form what you are affirming, what you are creating, and to be
in your highest integrity, always in how you relate to this
power so saying the things thatyou wish to affirm and empower,
and not using the creative powerof word for things that you do

(08:20):
not wish to bring more intoform. So if this is your love
language, definitely dive intothe first agreement from the
book, The Four Agreements by DonMiguel Ruiz. It is critically
important. I think it's reallygoing to resonate with you and
how you see the world. And alsojust add a little bit of extra

(08:42):
oomph in how you use your wordsmoving forward. So let's explore
this love language from thespiritual aspect. So in the
spiritual sense, words ofaffirmation can be experienced
most directly in five differentways. So the first one would be
sacred texts and quotes. Sosacred texts or spiritually

(09:05):
inspired writings, really carryprofound words, words that
impact us, that speak to adeeper truth, that affirm your
worth and your purpose and yourconnection with something
greater. And when you open up toa quote or a passage exactly

(09:26):
when you need it, it's not justa coincidence, right? It's
really Spirit speaking directlyto our hearts sometimes, so you
might feel really seen orcomforted or deeply validated by
these words, whether it's wisdomfrom spiritual teachings, from
poetry, from passages thatresonate really, deeply sacred

(09:49):
texts provide this reassurancethat you are guided, that you
are supported, that you areprofoundly loved, and they can
offer a reminder. Of your divinepurpose so that you can be
brought back into alignment whenyou need it the most. So the
best way to experience this isto read, to expose yourself to

(10:13):
inspirational to spiritualteachings and writings to
highlight what speaks to you, tohold on to those words that
remind you of a greater truth, but you have to make the effort
to explore those sacred texts,to give yourself the way to
encounter those words that aregoing to have meaning for you,

(10:35):
that can be across manydifferent cultures, many
different religious backgrounds,or if you have a religious
calling in one particular area,by all means, expand out to you
know, different writers withdifferent backgrounds, different
aspects of that really explorethe sacred texts available to

(10:57):
you, because you never know whensomething is going to really
speak to your heart, capture anessence that you'll refer back
to again and again and again, that will remind you of how
loved you really are, or giveyou that guidance that you're
seeking and looking for. Butthis is one that really requires
you to put yourself in theposition, in the situation, to

(11:20):
encounter these special words, which might be a little bit
harder these days, it's a littlebit harder to find a bookstore
to go into that has a reallylarge section, right? So
explore. We have a wonderfulbookstore up in Flagstaff called
bookmans. Take yourself to someused bookstores and find the

(11:42):
spiritual or religious sectionsand see what you feel drawn to.
The second way that you canreally encounter this language
from the spiritual sense isthrough positive affirmations. I
think most of us are familiarwith positive affirmations and
the fact that they go beyondself talk, they are intentional

(12:02):
words that really help us totransform our energy, transform
our mindset, to align to higherenergies and higher levels. They
can help us reconnect with ourtrue essence, reinforcing who
you really are beyond limitingbeliefs or temporary setbacks or

(12:23):
frustrations. And the bonus, ofcourse, is that when you
regularly practice positiveaffirmations, you actively are
engaging your subconscious. Youstart rewriting old narratives
with new, uplifting, empoweringones. So for instance, repeating
I am divinely guided, or I amsurrounded by light and support,

(12:49):
anchors those truths into yourheart. When you bring those
words into your heart, creatingshifts in your energy, it
influences the things thatyou're manifesting and creating
in your reality. I mean, havingan affirmation practice may be
something that really helps youfeel connected to the other

(13:11):
side. There's lots of differentforms of affirmations, whether
you have a specific intention, focus or purpose, and something
that you're trying to work on alimiting belief within yourself,
or whether you are justuplifting your energy, reminding
you that you are safe, supported, cared for, loved
deeply by the Divine, but apositive affirmation practice is

(13:34):
important. It is part of usingthat creative power from the
first agreement, the creativepower of the spoken word and
bringing things into form.
You're calling it. You'rewelcoming it into your energy
and your environment. And thinkabout every time you speak those
words, it is directly impactingyour auric field. It's putting

(13:56):
that energy into your aura everytime you speak it out loud. So
let's look at the third way thatwe tap into the power of words
of affirmation, and that isprayer. If you attend a church
or temple or something alongthose lines, you might have been
taught that prayer has a certainformat, or it has a lot of

(14:18):
shoulds to it a lot of rules, but prayer from the heart is a
sacred conversation between youand the universe or the divine,
can be incredibly healing. Andwhat makes prayer especially
powerful for people who resonatewith the words of affirmation is
the reciprocal nature of it.

(14:40):
You're speaking, you're sharing, and often in that silence or the
space afterwards, you might feelor hear an internal response of
sense of comfort, maybe ofreassurance, of knowing that you
are heard, that your love. Thatyou're not alone. You might even

(15:01):
get direction for your pathafterwards. You just never know
what's going to pop up in thatspace afterwards. But prayer
provides clarity, providesaffirmation about your path,
your purpose, your relationshipwith the spiritual world. It's
an important part of ourconnection with the Divine and

(15:23):
developing that relationshipwith source and something just
as a little bit of a side note, but I think it's important. As
someone who teaches about spiritguides while we're talking about
prayer, there is a bigmisconception that when you're
saying prayers that your spiritguides are picking up on exactly
what's being said. And I want toclear this up that is not

(15:47):
actually true. Your spiritguides can always read your
energy, but they can't hear yourprayer specifically, word for
word, without your permission, because it isn't meant for them.
It's a sacred encounter betweenyou and source, and that's a
very private connection that wehave. So if you do want them to

(16:08):
hear your prayers, put out thatblanket permission that you
welcome your guides to be ableto hear your prayers, you would
be really surprised at how theintimacy of what you share in
prayers. Helps your spiritguides understand more directly
what you are experiencing in themoment. They are getting that

(16:29):
human nature feedback of whatyou're struggling with, what you
need extra support with howyou're emotionally feeling, what
your focus is on, what issticking and what you might
still be missing. All of thosecan be helpful information that
unless you're communicating itdirectly with your guides, you

(16:51):
may just assume that they know, but this is a great way just
giving them that blanketpermission that says, yes, I'd
love for you to be able to tunein to my prayers, the things
that are being said so that theycan understand you more deeply
and help you more easily. Allright, so the fourth way that we
can really express words ofaffirmation spiritually are

(17:13):
through songs, chants, mantras,or curtain or anything along
those lines. Music and chantcarry vibrations. So singing
affirmations, mantras, spiritualchants such as curtain or
devotional songs, help to anchoraffirmations deeply into our

(17:35):
energy body. So you might feelyour heart just expand with
certain lyrics as they resonatewith you, or affirm your
identity, affirm who youunderstand yourself to be as a
spiritual being. So whetheryou're listening or you're just
humming along, or you're fullyin deep devotional chant, this

(17:59):
form of affirmation can reallyhit the right spot sometimes.
Now I'll also add to this thatwhen I've done development
circles with my mentor, we wouldalways be singing as loud as we
could right before circles, because they would add this
extra energy into the room, thisextra life force. So that's a

(18:22):
bonus of this practice too. Itblesses your space. It adds to
your life force energy. It addsto the good energy in the
environment, wherever it is thatyou are choosing to practice
with song, chant, Mantra,Kirtan, so just kind of a fun,
energetic bonus when we're doinghigher level of meditation or

(18:44):
higher level of work, givingthat extra energy into the space
to help support us in thatjourney, can really take things
to the next level. So our lastencounter with words of
affirmation in this context ischanneled or inspired. Writing

(19:04):
channeled writing or inspiredjournaling allows you to connect
deeply with spirit throughwords. So that practice involves
receiving intuitive messages orguidance from your guides your
higher self. Often those wordsjust flow effortlessly onto the
page, and before you know it,there's all this beautiful

(19:28):
guidance or clarity orencouragement to help you
understand what you need to knowin this moment. And you might
notice that your written voiceshifts subtly when you're
channeling so perhaps becomingkinder, wiser, even more poetic,
as Spirit uses that ability ofthe words to lift you, to heal

(19:52):
you, to remind you of yourworth, to remind you of your
divine journey. So inspired, right? Writing is a really
strong healer for people withthis love language. And just
grab a pencil sheet of paper andreally see what wants to flow
out. If you're not sure how toget started, just ask a question

(20:16):
and begin to see what comes up.
Now. Dr Chapman talks aboutdifferent ways to push ourselves
to expand into differentdialects of the love language.
And so one really beautifulpractice that he shared for
experiencing words ofaffirmation love language is

(20:36):
what he called Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is a heartfeltpractice of using your words to
genuinely express gratitude tothe divine. So you're
consciously tapping into thisdeep well inside of love
appreciation that's alreadyinside you, and sharing that

(20:57):
through your words that can looklike walking throughout your day
and intentionally noticingthings that make you smile or
spark that feeling of warmth andappreciation inside. Maybe it's
just the sunshine that'sstreaming in through the window
or the way a breeze feels onyour face. Maybe it's just the

(21:19):
quiet space to enjoy a cup oftea, whatever, as you notice
everything that brings forwardthat warm feeling, you pause
briefly and whisper a simplethank you to the universe. Or
you can just go deeper, expressyourself as much as you like,
share the gratitude that'sreally in your heart, or you

(21:42):
might spend time consciouslybringing to mind people who've
touched your life deeply andexpress heartfelt gratitude for
them while you're in prayerpractice, but it's a really nice
abundance practice too, tonotice all the many blessings
that you have, The things thatyou have been gifted, that
you've been entrusted with tosteward and spend more time

(22:06):
being thankful. That's a veryattractive energy to the
universe, to bring positiveenergy towards us when we are in
that thankful place within sosomething for you to try and
practice, maybe give yourself achallenge to go into a room
today and just look around, think about all the things that

(22:29):
you can be thankful for in thatspace, things, items that you
have that bring forward certainmemories that you are thankful
for and really appreciate andexpress that with your heart,
what are you truly thankful for?
So that brings me to somethingthat I'd love for you to reflect
on this week, whether words ofaffirmation is your primary love

(22:50):
language or not, there'spowerful growth and healing when
we learn to express love throughthe words that we speak and that
we receive. So take a moment andjust ask yourself, when was the
last time that words reallytouched my spirit,

(23:12):
when was the last time thatwords really touched my spirit,
and how can I invite more ofthose affirming messages into my
daily experience. How can youwelcome that in so maybe it's
writing down a meaningfulaffirmation that you can carry
with you throughout your day, orsticking it on a post it note

(23:34):
and putting it somewhere we'regoing to see it every day. Maybe
it's speaking a prayer ofgenuine gratitude as you're
starting your moment being veryintentional with that, or you're
immersing yourself in music orchants that uplift your energy
and bring good life force intothe space. It could even be
pausing to read, to recite apassage from one of your

(23:57):
favorite texts. But think abouthow you can use this wisdom and
use your wiring to express moreof this love language out in
your connection with source. Sowhatever resonates with you, I
encourage you to practice onesmall spiritual affirmation
ritual or practice this week, and just notice how that simple

(24:20):
act can help deepen yourconnection with yourself, or
help you feel better or liftyour energy. And of course, if
you know people with words ofaffirmation love language, be
sure to share this episode withthem, let them know that there
is so much more to understandabout this love language and
ways that it can enrich ourlives and help us to expand next

(24:46):
time we're going to explore thespiritual side of acts of
service love language. So staytuned, because we still have a
lot to uncover many more lovelanguages for us to process and
come to a deeper understandingof. And honestly, I'm not
hearing people talk about this.
I would love to hear yourthoughts and how this connects
with you, with your practices, how it feels in your heart. You

(25:07):
can share those with me atInstagram, at Sedona medium, or
Facebook at Sedona medium. Iwould love to hear from you, and
if you love this episode, if youhave appreciated our other
episodes. We would love to hearfrom you, if you would leave us
a review, wherever it is thatyou are listening to this
podcast, we would beexceptionally grateful. I look

(25:28):
forward to a beautiful week ofintegrating words of
affirmation, sending so muchlove and light and many
blessings the
