Have you ever found yourself stretched too thin, saying yes to everything and everyone? In this powerful episode of Motivation Fuel, we explore the transformative power of strategic rejection and how saying "no" can actually be your path to reclaiming energy, purpose, and peace.

I share my personal journey of over-commitment and the pivotal moment when I finally said "no" to something that looked good on paper but didn't align with my values. That single decision became the catalyst for a new chapter in my life – one where boundaries became my superpower rather than my weakness.

Saying no isn't selfish; it's strategic. Through real-life examples and practical guidance, I break down exactly how rejection works as a tool for growth: preserving your precious energy, creating space for aligned opportunities, and building unshakable self-trust. You'll learn a simple three-step framework for releasing what drains you: identifying energy vampires, crafting compassionate responses, and recognizing that saying no doesn't close doors – it helps you choose the ones that open inward.

This week's challenge is refreshingly manageable: say no to just one thing that drains you. Whether it's a task, habit, mindset, or even a relationship, you're invited to protect your energy and track what opens up when you close the door on what depletes you. The most powerful realization? You're not just saying no – you're saying yes to yourself.

So, with this week's episode,we're going to take the weekly
drive challenge.
This week challenge is simplyyet but powerful.
Say no to one thing that drainsyour energy.

(02:00):
This can be something gratefulfor you, because you are
protecting your energy.
You're going to honor on yourgrowth, and I want to let that
sink in for a bit.
Now.
Here's a question to reflect onwhen was the last time you said

(02:24):
no and you felt empowered by it, not guilty, not ashamed, but
clear, confident and free?
There was a reason and someseasons in my life when I said
yes to everything Everyopportunity, every request,

(02:47):
every role.
I thought it meant that I wasshowing up fully, but what I was
really doing was abandon myselfbit by bit.
One moment changed everything.
I was asked to lead a projectthat looked good on paper, but
it didn't align with any of myvalues.

(03:08):
I was hesitant and I felt thepressure to say yes, but
something inside of me said thisisn't for me.
So I said no, and that's no.
It was a beginning of a newchapter.

(03:44):
At first, I, my clients, wouldthe people you're over
committing to, and will they dothe same for you?
Think about that for a minute.
It's a hard question, but itcan hit you hard when you're
over committing to others.

(04:05):
And think about it.
Will they do the same for you.
So my one client that I workwith was constantly saying yes,
taking overtime, shifts, fillingfamily obligations,
volunteering in various rolesvolunteering in various roles.

(04:29):
So this individual was burntout and barely can recognize
themselves.
So, through my coaching, Ishowed the individuals how to
pause, evaluate and say no withgrace.
Today these individuals, they're thriving with boundaries
that honor their growth.
Saying no isn't selfish, it'sstrategic.

(04:50):
It's how you and how we reclaimour time, our energy and our
purpose.
So let's break this down for asecond.
Saying no isn't just aboutturning something down.
It's about turning towardyourself, hear how this works

(05:12):
and, like you, can unlock it,preserve energies.
You can stop leaking energyinto things that don't serve you
and leaving more for what trulymatters, creating that space
that aligns with youropportunities.
When you're clear out and youknow what's misaligned, you can

(05:37):
make room for what is meant forto you, to the people around you
, to your projects and to yourpeace.
You can build self-trust andboundaries.
Every time you honor yourlimits, you reinforce your own
voice.
You become someone you cancount on.

(05:59):
Now, if you're feeling stretchedout, thin or stuck in an
obligation, here's some simpleframework to help you release
what's draining you.
Step one identify what'sdraining you.
Notice the tasks, therelationships or commitments
that leave you depleted.

(06:20):
Step two they leave youdepleted.

(06:42):
Step two not abandoninganything.
You're just doing the alignmentfor yourself.
Final thought when you say no,you will not close any doors.
Think about this.
You're not closing any doors.
You're choosing the ones thatopen inward for you doors.

(07:04):
You're choosing the ones thatopen inward for you.
You can commit more time toyourself.
No-transcript.
Now it's your turn.
This week, yes, this week, I'mgoing to challenge you to choose
one thing, to say no to justone.

(07:25):
It doesn't have to be dramatic,it just has to be intentional.
Here are some things that canspark your thinking, your

(07:46):
thinking.
It can be a draining task thatadds value to your goals, a
habit that no longer serves yourgrowth or peace, a mindset
rooted in fear, compassion thisis not compassion for you
anymore.
You need something that'scompassion.
Say no with purpose, not out ofavoidance, but out of alignment
.
Then I want you to track it.

(08:08):
You can track it on yourjournal.
You can even record a voicenote in your cell phone.
It's their different apps.
This is just raw and filteredand it's just for you and only
will be seen by you.
Unless you want to share withothers.
Notice what opens up.

(08:28):
When you close the door on whatdrains you, you can reclaim
your energy, your clarity andyour power.
So let's recap this week'schallenge say no to one thing
that drains you, whether it's ameeting, a habit, a mindset,

(08:49):
even a relationship, even yourkids yes, your kids.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
