Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (00:17):
Hey
, I kind of noticed that you
looked a little sad.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (00:22):
Yeah,
man, it's been like a really
tough week.
Dane "Suspension Guru" H (00:27):
What's
going on?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (00:28):
You
know, you remember my pet parrot
.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (00:30):
Yeah.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (00:32):
You
know, I don't know why, but like
a few months ago he juststarted like gorging on food and
he just kept eating and eatingand eating and he got fatter and
fatter and fatter Like he likeobesity, fat just huge.
And then, uh, like this week hedied holy shit man.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (00:49):
I'm
sorry about that.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (00:50):
Like
holy crap it's okay, man it's.
It's actually like a hugeweight off my shoulders that was
a lot of work it was a lot ofwork.
Yeah, the scripted ones likenot as good.
What do?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (01:03):
you
think I feel like we need to
practice you think so?
Yeah, I feel that that was alittle forced it was too forced.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:10):
What
do you think joe is?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (01:11):
it
too forced.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:11):
No, it
was good.
The acting was brilliant, thatI was waiting for the end scene.
Yes, oh yeah, we need to getthe little clapper thing.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (01:17):
Yeah
, I don't know what that thing's
called, but the little clapperthing.
I just want one, just so I canclap it all the time.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:21):
My buddy
got the clapper in high school.
Wait, are we talking about thesame thing?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (01:26):
Yeah
, it's the one that does the
lights right.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:28):
Yeah,
yeah, I think he's talking about
the clap.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (01:31):
Oh
no, you're talking about the
clapper.
I got the clap in high school.
The clap only does one light.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:36):
Yeah,
yeesh.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:40):
All
right, it is Thursday night here
on the MCP and we are joined bythe illustrious.
We call him CRK.
He has yet to acknowledge thatthat's real Charlie Romeo Kilo
for those that like NATOphonetics, otherwise known as
the Calirado Colorado.
Dane "Suspension Guru" (01:55):
Calirado
Kid.
Hey, what's up with the name.
Where'd that come from?
Side note I guess CRK is betterthan idiot, which is what most
people call me.
So.
I'll take CRK over that any dayI feel like CRK is cool.
Yeah, it works fine.
What do I care?
It's like yeah, it's fine, itworks great.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (02:10):
It's
almost like a millennial that
can't say a full word becausethey're too cool to say it's
military, my ex-military, likewe make everything like an
acronym.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hi (02:19):
Sorry
, man, and they're just doing
that.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (02:21):
crk, yep
, crk yeah instead of like
saying professional, it'll belike profess or something you're
like oh, it's really that hardor pro okay well, let's see, pro
see, yeah, exactly forever, youknow ah so skibbity, yeah,
skibbity, toilet.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (02:33):
How
old are your kids, joe?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (02:35):
franco's
turning 12, my daughter's
turning, she's nine, so it'slike they're right, you got the
skibbity toilet that's the agefor that, right in the zone.
So please explain this toiletthing to me, franco, please.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (02:45):
Yeah
, it's, yeah, it's crazy uh
turner the whole way back whenwe were doing uh trail work with
uh wade holland and turner hewas there yeah, I know, but did
you hear my son like justgrilling him like?
No fortnight, and and first ofall, my son is like trying to
get his phone so he can downloadfortnight Wade's phone, and
then basically is educating Wadeon Fortnite the entire hike
(03:09):
where we're doing trail work.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (03:10):
Yeah,
I was like Wade, are you going
to have kids?
He's like, well, I was yeah.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (03:14):
Yeah,
exactly, oh, my God, he's second
guessing it now.
It's for sure, back when wegrew up like you would play a
game, you would beat it and thenyou buy a new game and play
that game and beat it and nowlike they never these live
service games essentially likefortnight the kids just play one
game all the time although doyou play.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (03:33):
You
play video games because I've
seen some of your shorts whereyou're I do yeah like it's
raining, let's go play videogames yeah yeah, so like, uh, I
gotta tell you, like thefortnight I'm getting hooked on
it, which sucks, but it's a waythat Turner and I have been able
to bond, you know.
So I hang out with my boy andwe get to do something together,
and but, man, if you go on thatthing, there's like a million
(03:54):
different games They've got allkinds of sub games sub racing.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (03:59):
There's
like mini games, there's all
like basically, they created anentire ecosystem that you go
into and you don't leave.
Dane "Suspension Gu (04:05):
Essentially
, yeah they have this
free-for-all, where you just getdropped in and you can pick any
gun and any car and then onceyou're out of the little zone
where all the weapons are, onceyou get out of there you can
shoot them and it's just likefree-for-all man, everybody's
shooting, everybody driving over, everybody's.
Like, like you, just two man, enter one man you sprint to a
car and you try and get out ofeverybody's way and to go
(04:28):
otherwise you just get killedright away.
Yeah, it's, it's crazy, it's,it's chaos, that's for sure.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (04:32):
So I had
highly considered once I went
full-time, like starting a videogame channel because it's like
that's one of my passions inlife too.
I grew up playing games and Istill enjoy it.
Like I have far less time nowto play stuff than I used to,
right, so it's like I'll getlike maybe an hour and uh every
now and then, like so it's notas as much, but it's like the
trends I see in the gamingindustry and stuff.
I just want to rant on them sohard.
I'm like just when I discoveredthe fortnight financial
(04:56):
ecosystem, it was likemind-boggling, like I couldn't
believe it was legal, likeessentially like freaking
brilliant seven.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (05:01):
it
cost me seven700 a year,
probably, maybe more than that.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (05:04):
V-Bucks
are crazy, but that's way too
far.
On a tangent, this is amountain biking podcast.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (05:08):
I
don't want to get us too off
the rails One day.
Listen to my video game podcastguys.
What I really want is forFortnite to have mountain bikes.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (05:15):
Yeah, no
, what's his name?
He's making a mountain bike.
Video game's going to be onsteam.
That'd be awesome.
All right, I'll find it whilewe're discussing here.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (05:31):
I'll
I'll do a little research before
we get too deep, I noticed inyour studio shed there.
Are you still calling it?
What were you calling it?
The cali radio shack yeah Inoticed you had a, had a, had a,
had a.
I watched video recently whereyou, where you were like
outfitting that super cool man,as a matter of fact.
I'm like huh, I'm like pricingit out.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (05:49):
I'm
like maybe I should, but I'm
like.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (05:50):
I
think if we got here it's okay.
But, um, I noticed you had alike a wall of whiskey or a
shelf of whiskey.
By the way, very cool that you, like you know, did the whole
back country mill thing and cutthat piece yourself.
That's pretty awesome.
But, um, I'm drinking a newwhiskey tonight that I never had
before called oh uh, tucker.
Yeah, they've been tuckercalled yep, if you've had it
(06:10):
before, obviously you recognizeit right from the bottom.
I have, yeah damn it I thought Iwas going to introduce you to
something new no, you know what?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (06:16):
like the
whiskey game is interesting.
And again, we haven't talkedabout mountain biking at all yet
, but here we go.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (06:20):
Okay,
whiskey goes the whiskey scene.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (06:22):
I was
really into it for a good amount
of time.
I still enjoy whiskey.
I drink that more than anythingelse, especially over beer.
I think I just don't likedrinking the tons of beers.
It's just you feel Emptycalories.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So it's like having a niceglass of whiskey or something
whatever.
But you get into the barrelpicks, you get into these
(06:49):
high-end picks and everythingbottles like 100, 150 and just
escalating and then you got awhole bar full of that and
you're like what have I donehere?
So I definitely like graduatedback down to the basics.
I'm like give me a, give melike a woodford double oak like,
which is like a 40 50 dollarbottle or something fantastic 50
and sub is I'm good with it now, yeah, do you think bike
companies should should have abrand of whiskey?
yeah, for sure, I think so 100or at least a beer I feel like
the beer thing is so rooted inmountain biking that, like I
don't know, the whiskey is soprevalent in it.
(07:10):
But it's like everybody, justeverything is beer when you go
on a ride oh, we brought beers,or this is always beer.
So we can like, but we canchange that, yeah, I think I
think companies have gotteninvolved like I work with the
shoots brewery and they weredoing, uh, like the dry january,
so we did a video with them andthey're very like.
It seemed like they understoodwhat we were doing.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (07:28):
Yeah
and you got new belgium does
fat tire yeah, oh yeah, I feellike you know somebody else
could do like a pivot or uh.
Uh, you know yeah I almost saidrevel and that's not gonna
happen.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (07:39):
Yeah
well, the problem is as with as
with anything, there's a millionthere's already like it's like
think of your craft breweries atthe time that they were like
getting like really popularbecause there was a few of them
in your town and now there's 18million of them like it's like
how can they sustain, I don'tknow, and they're coming and
going like crazy.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (07:55):
So
, like you know, like I'm always
wondering which one's stickingaround, so yeah, and they get to
, they get.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (08:00):
They've
gotten the point where they get
a resort on on gummy worm stylebeers.
There's a place locally herethat they do gummy bear
something beer.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (08:08):
Oh
yeah.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (08:09):
We've
gone too far.
That sounds gross.
Yeah, gummy worm beers orsomething.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (08:13):
Yeah
it's not good.
I think it's boredom.
Yeah, hey, so I want to thankyou first of all.
You came out recently.
It's where we got to meet you.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (08:20):
You
came out.
Came Got to meet you.
He came out.
He came out.
Yeah, he came out, he came out,he came out.
I didn't see that he did.
He came out, he came out.
Congratulations.
I'm glad you're going throughthe transition.
That is so brave.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (08:29):
Now we
sound like the Narcouch because
that's what they did.
They took about seven jokesthat direction.
I'm sorry.
Anyways, you came out um, didsome, did some promotion for our
amazing secret mountain bikingand gastronomy city here, and so
first of all I just wanted tosay thank you, and you did a
(08:52):
fantastic job on the contentthat you guys created.
I thought it was super cool.
Especially the old tucson stuffwas sick, oh yeah that was
unreal.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (08:59):
I don't
know, I haven't listened to the
full just podcast yet.
I'm about halfway in, uh, but Idon't know if she told you the
story about that.
Like when we originally reachedout to visit Tucson, we were on
the phone with them.
We were having a call and thatwas the agency and it was visit
Tucson and all that stuff.
And she was like hey, can weget access to old Tucson?
And I had never been out thereso I didn't know what that meant
.
So essentially, uh, they'relike, yeah, we got you.
(09:19):
And Jess is like, just go lookit up.
And I said, look, I looked upold Tucson after the call, just
wild West town.
I was like this is awesome.
So we we always just like thinkof like baseline ideas, Like
all right, what's something wecould shoot there, what's
something else?
So we have a couple ideas andwe go there and when we go there
they tell us to come into theemployee entrance, which is
already a good start to this day.
Yeah, and when we come in, we'regreeted by this guy, Greg,
(09:42):
who's like he's the head of thestunt guys, so I don't know if
nobody's ever been to old Tucson.
Essentially, they have peopleout there, they're actors and
stunt people all over the placeand they do mock fights and gun
and gun shootouts and all thisstuff like it all takes place
there.
Yeah, so, greg, he's like thehead of the operations for that
stuff.
(10:06):
And he says all right, come onin guys we got to get you to
wardrobe, I was like what?
This, this is gonna be thegreatest thing in my life.
Like right here.
As soon as we got there, likejess and I were like picking out
clothes, we're like this isincredible.
And like those are the moments, like as a creator, that you,
like you never thought you'd geta chance to do, and it was like
it really like sets in that weget to do this.
So they gave us that.
They've us in a wardrobe.
We got everything set up and wewere already like this is
(10:26):
incredible.
And he's like, all right, we'regoing to get you to the armory
because we need to get you guns.
We're like, yeah, and then theylet us loose with our mountain
bikes and our guns andeverything onto the park and
they basically said, if you seean actor or just grab them or
whatever, make sure it's cool.
And it was cool and we ended upgetting involved in some of the
stuff and it was definitely oneof the funnest shoots we ever
(10:46):
did.
Like it was fun, like trying tostage it to where there's not
people in the background.
Even though I did the comedy, Ithink like just having like
tourists walking around behindus like with those.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (10:56):
I'm
just picturing a tourist with
those visors that are green yeah, like scissors, just walking
around with their japanese guywith a camera like a flower
shirt.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (11:04):
You know
totally right and so, like we
shot that out there and it waslike I was editing it and like
jess was editing something onthe couch.
We were, and tony was there,we're all in the airbnb together
.
Uh, and I was like, all right,I think I got a rough cut and
she comes over and, of course, like the first cut's, just like
we just fucking start dying, youknow what I mean.
And uh, and so we're like, allright, what can we do?
And I was like we need somesound effects.
(11:25):
So I was like I get the horsesound effects, I get the you
know the classic sound and we'readding all these elements in
and I was like I was like Idon't care if this video does
well or not like this is one ofthe funnest videos to shoot and
edit proud of, yeah, it was sofun that's.
And luckily, when we went to seaotter, like everybody was
asking about it, like it was socool, because, like you know,
people are like, oh, that oldtucson, so I was like it was
(11:46):
cool.
You sometimes you think like,oh, 180 000 or 200 000 views
isn't that much, yeah, uh, youknow, in our world sometimes,
but it's like that's a lot ofpeople, yeah a lot of people,
yeah, yeah it's that's amazing, because we get like four.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (11:59):
Yeah,
shut up, man, we do not we are
in the top 10 mountain bikepodcast in the world.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (12:04):
I will
remind you that there's nine of
them.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (12:09):
I
heard rule number 37.
Take the credit for yourself.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (12:13):
Is that
correct, is it?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (12:16):
27
or 37?
.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (12:17):
I think
it's 37.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (12:18):
37,
yes, we rock dude.
Our consumption rates are offthe charts.
Dane "Suspension Guru" H (12:24):
That's
true, except for him, who's
only 50% true, brilliant, it'strue, except for him, who's only
50% through the podcast.
It's funny.
He goes, you know what.
So he said that and I'm likethey're hard to digest, aren't
they?
No, no, no.
You know what the funniestthing is?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (12:36):
I almost
never listen to podcasts
because, you know, one of thereasons why I just put music on
in the truck and whatever isbecause it it lets.
It leaves me alone with mythoughts, like I'm not really
listening to the lyrics and thesong, and that's where I think
of the ideas that I get.
So, like recently I did a tripdown to Everyman Jack HQ.
We had to unveil this like PTOcampaign, which is like personal
time outside.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (12:54):
Like,
really like promoting, like.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (12:56):
I think
you saw your post today, right,
yeah, I was like take your timeoff, like go outside and don't
worry about your work it'll bethere when you get back.
Like go outside and enjoy, andlike help your mental state,
help your physical state, and sowe all know that we ride bikes,
so as soon as you go on a bikeride, you feel better yeah, it's
therapy we had to go down thereand shoot.
It's about a two-hour drive downto the hq from where I'm at and
so like I really spent thosetwo hours, like I already had a
(13:18):
basic idea but refining the idea, so I came in with a shot list
like I already knew every sceneI wanted to shoot.
I knew, and like the whole timeI'm just thinking of that on
the way and down, so like that'swhere like just having
background music essentially forme is like important.
I just I really hash out theideas and so having someone's uh
talking in my head like ruinsit.
So because I'm thinking about,I'm listening intently, you know
(13:41):
, so I'm gonna finish it.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (13:42):
I
am gonna finish so I I'm the
opposite, Like I usually don'twant to hear the voices in my
head, so I'll listen to somebodyelse talking, and so I absorb
like I.
So I do suspension all day longat the shop and I'll sit there
and listen to a podcast or watcha show while I'm doing it and I
can just zone out and just justplow through work and uh, but
(14:03):
you're right, my, I think I'mmost creative and have my best
ideas in the morning in theshower.
Yeah, you ever like?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (14:09):
yeah,
it's like you do almost have to
like get through the fog of thenegativity.
Like you know what I'm like, everybody knows their brains
wander sometimes, and especiallylike in our world, where it's
like oh, video didn't do great, maybe I suck at this, and like
all those voices come first, yeah, and you gotta kind of wade
through that and then then youcan find the gems behind it.
It's like, uh, but the moreyou're left alone with your
(14:31):
thoughts the motorcycle's beenkind of helpful for that,
because, like I didn't have acomm system and stuff built into
the headset yet, I justinstalled one, yeah, but it's
like there's no music or nothing, like you're alone with your
thoughts for hours at a time, like, and that's been
interesting I used to do thatriding, so for practice, for
training.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (14:46):
I
would go out at nine at night
and I would hit this, this uhsection of uh, we call it the
loop in tucson.
It's really famous.
It's a concrete like uh, yeah,150 miles 150 miles along our
washes.
That's huge, and I would go atnine at night when nobody's out
there and just hammer for twohours and then come home and I
(15:07):
didn't have a stereo or any budsin or anything like that and I
would just think about stuff, usually about girls, yeah.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (15:14):
Yeah,
yeah.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (15:15):
Yeah
, motivator.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (15:16):
And
then this was precarious, oh
yeah, this is like way.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (15:19):
This
is when I was kind of racing
cross country right beforedownhill and then I would get
home and go to bed and I wouldsleep great I don't think I've
ever slept that good since Iused to have that regimen.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (15:32):
Yeah.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (15:33):
Hey
Joe, so back to Tucson.
Yeah, a little bit, which Ilearned to spell as Tuxon.
Tuxon.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (15:40):
I was
misspelling it so much that
Apple didn't correct me anymore.
That's how many times I textedTuscon, not Tuxon T-U-S, it's
T-U-C.
It happens all the time.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (15:51):
It
does happen.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (15:52):
That
and Saguaro right.
Dane "Suspension Guru" (15:53):
Saguaro
, saguaro.
Josh "Magellan" Anderso (15:55):
Saguaro
.
We don't have any duplicatequestions between you and Jess.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (16:02):
So
just so you know.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (16:02):
So
Jess didn't tell us anything
that you're going to, that we'regoing to ask you, but um, you
rode, bugs spring, you mean.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (16:07):
JTM yeah
, jtm, jtm See he just threw it
right back at us.
Oh, my God.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (16:17):
Uh,
you rode bug Springs, you rode
to some mountain park, or whatwe call star pass Um, or what we
call star pass um you rode 50year.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (16:27):
You ride
anything else on those, those
three trails when you were here.
No, because we did star passtwice um.
We did kind of an easy loop oneday with jess and tony, and
then then we did one uh with I'mforgetting his name right now,
but he's one of the head of thetrail work um yeah yeah yeah,
exactly, yeah so we did a nicecruise with nat and uh, so it
was fun.
It was definitely like scenicexercisey riding.
But the, the cactus stuff, isso fascinating I'd like the I
(16:49):
can't get over the terrain likeit's so cool, like it's so cool.
And then, of course, like bugswas just like right up my alley,
just the shuttle downhill chunklike oh that's one of my that
was the most exciting ride forsure so so while you're here, I
got a a chance After you guyscame out and did the trail day
with us.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (17:06):
I got
just a little tiny glimpse into
your ideation process and I wasjust fascinated.
You and Jess were there and youguys were riffing off each
other, and then you probablydon't remember this, but we were
sitting on the side of Rolly's,which is like a taco place, and
you pulled up your phone andshowed me like, like here's all
my ideas and you just keptstreaming and streaming, and
streaming and streaming andthere was, like I don't even
(17:27):
know, hundreds of ideas in there.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (17:28):
Yeah.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (17:29):
I'd
love to hear more about, like,
your ideation process, like, like how does it work for you?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (17:33):
Yeah,
most of it's like whether the
hard part is like early on yougot to learn to write these
things down, cause, like I wouldbe like getting ready for like
in bed, like about to fallasleep, and then something might
pop in and be like, oh, that'sfunny.
And then I'd fall asleep and Iwake up and it's gone Right.
So I was like that could havebeen a gold idea right there.
So you really have to almostlike get up and make the note,
like whether it's just the firstthought, it's just like you
(17:54):
know what if a guy did this, youknow, and then you can go back
and flesh that out later.
And so oftentimes if somethingpops in, I at least make a note
of it.
I might not ever use it, butit's like at least I can go back
and refer to it and be like allright, how do I make that funny
?
Do I make that a skit basedthing, or do I make that like a,
like a simple, like two shotthing, like where there's no
(18:14):
talking?
One thing we've learned when itcomes to social media is that
if you have no dialogue in yourvideos, they will do better
because they can reach a broadercrowd, like because there's no
language barrier, right?
So that's inherently.
If you have no length, no, no,uh, talking, then it could reach
anybody and they could allunderstand it.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (18:32):
So
if you could do it that way,
yeah right, we're fucked we're apodcast.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (18:36):
How
are we gonna do that?
That's right.
I guess we could switch todifferent languages only our,
our limits, going to be allenglish speakers yeah or yeah,
well, not being said, you canstill have dialogue.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK (18:48):
Obviously
, like I talk a lot, I like
doing skip based stuff, so Imake the stuff that I like and
it still does well, but it's,like you know, for mass appeal.
Those those videos that havelike almost no audio.
You'll see sea bass, actuallynormal mountain biker.
A lot of his videos he doesn'ttalk at all, it's just facial
expressions and that's becausehe knows that too.
He knows that it will reachfurther, a broader audience
(19:08):
across the world because there'sno language barrier.
So those are the little thingswe know about social media wow,
look at that relatability.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (19:14):
I like
that never.
I'd never thought about justyeah you know, don't like we.
We look at our addressablemarket.
I'm a strategist, by the way, that's my day job.
So we look at our addressablemarket and it's like
english-speaking mountain bikersthat like podcasts, and I've
got like a number, like here'sthe number of english speaking
mountain bikers that likepodcasts in the world.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (19:30):
By the
way, it's 1.8 million that's
what we think our addressablemarket is yeah, across the world
I when maybe I should betranslating these I don't know
that could be.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (19:39):
Uh
, I noticed that, um, I watch a
lot of youtube uh, not youtube,uh, instagram with the sound off
.
So when I watch videos, if thesounds on, like if I have to
turn the sound off, uh or on,because I'm usually doing in the
bathroom in secret so my familydoesn't is that during sexy
time too?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (19:58):
no, no
, it's like yeah, I do it I do
it yeah, no, I do it at work too.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (20:05):
I
hide in the bathroom and like I
watch you know reels and stuff, and but I can't have the sound
on because then the guys willknow I'm screwing around yeah,
so I can't have that.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (20:13):
You
just outed yourself.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (20:14):
You
realized that at least one guy
in your shop listens to thispodcast.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, this isprobably something we've all
done, but it's like that also isalso why it's important to put
captions, despite you know itwas like because yeah if there's
no audio, like again, statistically speaking, there's
at least 50 of people that arelistening with no audience
actually quite higher, I believe.
But, like you know, this isn'tlike strategy.
(20:35):
This is just stuff we learnedover the course of doing things
over years.
But I still like stick to myguns and I make the stuff I like
to make because otherwise, likeyou know, it be fun.
Right, if I was just trying tomake things that would go viral,
like it would be far less funthan just making a silly thing
that came into my head.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (20:48):
So
you get, you know we we you
make it look so easy, Like I.
Every time you see one of yourvideos, you're like, absolutely
Like, everybody relates to itand they're like oh yeah, I
totally felt like that and andit's like it's those brilliance
that comes out when you're justlike you know what this is.
It's so simple, but the amountof work that you have to put in
(21:10):
is it just blows me away.
Yeah, I just do GoPro videos ofmy ride and it I have.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (21:17):
That's
how he started.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (21:18):
Well
, we did, we did a ride.
Did you hear?
Did Nat tell you about thegraham cracker while you guys
are in town?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (21:24):
I don't
think so, the graham.
Tell me some more, a couplehours.
Tell me some more 17 miles.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (21:32):
If you
do the whole graham cracker,
only 17?
.
17 miles, 6,300 feet ofdescending.
Yeah, I think it's one of thebiggest contiguous downhill
sections in the country.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (21:41):
It's
amazing and so contiguous
downhill sections in the country, it's amazing.
And so we did it last Sundayand I was just oh man, it was
just such an epic thing.
And I took this new, I took thenew GoPro I don't know three.
It's not an Insta 360, but it'sthe 360 GoPro.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (22:04):
The
Max.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (22:04):
Yeah
, it's not the Max lens, it's
got the two lenses.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (22:07):
By the
way, he's got three.
It's called a Max.
He's got three main sponsors.
It's called the GoPro.
Max Is GoPro.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (22:12):
Is
GoPro?
Here it's called the GoPro Max.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (22:14):
I'm
assuming it's not an Insta360.
No, no, because they justunveiled the X5, and that?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (22:21):
no
, it's not that.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (22:22):
That's
an Insta right you have a GoPro
max, then probably Cause this isum yeah this is Insta 360 stuff
.
This is the new X five.
This one just came out.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (22:30):
Oh
, that's cool.
So, I think I'm going to getone of those Cause people say
that that one's better.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (22:34):
Do you
know you can go to Joe's like
page or his website and you canget an affiliate link?
Dane "Suspension Guru" (22:47):
that'll
help me, actually, but no, it's
, uh, I actually.
The point is yeah, I, it's whatit's thursday and I wrote that
sunday.
I haven't even touched thatcamera.
I don't know what the footageI've no, I've not edited, I
haven't even looked at it.
I honestly don't know, becausethat thing was orientated a
certain way and I I don't knowif it was actually filming
correctly yeah, we could getshots of your penis the whole
way down it may be my nostrils,I don't know.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (23:04):
I
thought it was actually filming
correctly.
Yeah, we could get shots ofyour penis the whole way down.
It may be my nostrils, wouldn'tyou ride with your penis?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (23:07):
out
.
I don't know, I thought it wasthe only one.
Yeah, no, I have no idea.
So I have all this footage.
It could be garbage or it couldbe gold.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (23:12):
He
rides with his penis out and
still nobody knows.
Dane "Suspension Guru" H (23:15):
Nobody
can see it, so yeah.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (23:19):
Nobody
knows.
And, by the way, the stuffyou're talking about is strategy
, strategery, strategery.
So I use a tool called Claude.
I love Claude.
I keep like pouncing Claude.
Dane "Suspension Guru" (23:31):
They're
based out of you know I want to
say something right herebecause I'm learning a lot from.
Joe and Jess and all theseClaude's not giving you shit,
bullshit, like they not.
No.
Shut the front door you need tocall up Claude and be like.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (23:45):
I'm
going to tell you, listen,
listen.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (23:47):
Hey
, we we have like 17 listeners
and you should be paying us.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (23:52):
We
have way more than 17.
You got to add many zeros.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (23:56):
I always
think of the dark night when
the Joker said if you're good atsomething, don't.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (24:00):
Let me
get the point.
Let me get to my point here.
Based on my search, I foundthat, according to Instagram's
internal data, 80% of Reels areviewed with the sound on 80 on
8-0.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (24:11):
Okay
.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (24:11):
This
means that approximately 20% of
Instagram Reel viewers watchwith the sound off.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (24:17):
I think
that's wrong.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (24:18):
I feel
like that's wrong too, I think
there's far more people withaudio off.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (24:20):
I think
your statistics are wrong on
Claude.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (24:25):
Okay
off, I think your statistics are
wrong.
On claude okay, yeah, so it ispossible.
They furthermore say that ifyou include all videos, not just
reels, 40 of instagram videosoverall are watched with sound
off I feel like that's just.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (24:37):
Yeah
, I'm willing to bet it's more.
Josh "Magellan" Anders (24:38):
Actually
I'm gonna go I'm actually gonna
go through data and verify this, because this is what I do and
I'm gonna get back to you, joeand let you know if claude
claude, because these ai toolsdo have a hallucination.
Dane "Suspension Guru" H (24:48):
Change
the name.
Let's call him bob bob.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (24:50):
We
should find ask him the the
amount of people that watch thesocial media while they're on
the toilet.
We'll give us a number for thatyeah, because I'm telling you
it's high it's very sure it is,I do it.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (25:00):
yeah,
I'm sure it's like a hot, it's
like everybody Like yeah, I now.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (25:03):
have
you ever dropped your phone in
the?
No no, neither have I.
I'm not saying, I have.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (25:09):
Joe,
have you?
Have you dropped your phone inthe toilet while you've been
watching?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (25:12):
No
, I have not.
No, okay, I've heard it.
I told you the the scorpionstory.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (25:17):
No, oh
, did you get a scorpion?
Bite your butt.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (25:20):
No
, no, my buddy, one of my
teammates.
He's big into records and so hehad to go to the bathroom.
So he's reading the recordsleeve while he's on the pot and
a scorpion fell out of thesleeve and stung him on the
pee-pee.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (25:38):
No,
I'm not even kidding, no way I'm
not kidding Did you see itShout out to andre.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (25:43):
I would
need visual evidence to confirm.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (25:44):
Yeah,
that's exactly what I'm saying
no, I'm telling you prove it,give me, show me a picture.
I'm telling you.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (25:48):
If it
was uh from the scorpions, it
would be even better.
That would have been now, thenI wouldn't have believed it if
he had said that I would havebeen like that's bullshit, but
no this guy is uh is infallible.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (25:59):
I'm
telling you he, he's is
infallible.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (26:00):
I'm
telling you he cannot tell a lie
Infallible, he's definitelyinfallible at this point.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (26:05):
But
yeah, could you imagine?
Because he told us about thescorpion and I'm like dude, how
did you get stuck on the pee-pee?
I mean, how did that happen?
You've got to tell us whathappened.
And then he told us a story andit's actually plausible.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (26:18):
It's
plausible.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (26:19):
It's
plausible, yeah, Like, but
cause?
You know you?
You put your crate of recordson the floor right, and the
scorpion goes into a nice littlepocket on the sleeve of the
record and it just hangs outthat's this new house.
And then you open it up and hecomes out pissed off.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (26:31):
All
right.
Bob says that a recent 2025survey found that 54% of
Americans admit social mediaapps are the most are most used
on the toilet.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (26:40):
No way
Sounds.
Way, sounds about, right.
Yeah, I think it's higher thanthat, uh, so so we're just
questioning we're questioning mytool here.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (26:46):
For
some reason.
When you call it bob, I trustit more okay, I'm gonna go for
that.
Claude claude is like whotrusts a claude yeah, what is he
?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (26:54):
french
or something.
Yeah, I would totally trust it.
So it's hot as hell insacramento in the summer yeah,
yeah hot as hell in tucson insummer.
Do you guys ride a lot at nightin the early mornings in
sacramento in the summer?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (27:05):
uh, that
would require me to wake up
early, which I'm not a big fanof or night night.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (27:09):
You
don't have to wake up early I
might do night rides.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (27:11):
Honestly
, I get kind of accustomed to
the heat and if I do ride I'mriding near the lake or
something.
I'll just jump in the watermid-ride or something.
So it's not as like troublesomeas you would suspect.
And we could get up now to likethe high Sierras and stuff and
the temperature will drop bylike 10, 15 degrees.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (27:25):
So
how far a drive is that?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (27:27):
Oh, it
was from me, like Southlake.
It's only like an hour and 20,hour and 30.
It's like not bad at all.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (27:32):
Yeah
, that's like top Mount Lemmon
or a little longer yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (27:37):
Do you
have a light brand sponsor?
Say that again.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (27:40):
Do you
have a light?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (27:41):
brand
sponsor.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (27:43):
Well, I
work with Outbound but they're
not my sponsor.
I've always loved those guys.
I remember back in the day, soI went night riding somewhere
here in Granite Bay, maybe evenbefore I started the channel,
maybe I just started it.
Either way, this guy, ashley, Iknew he was like, oh, dude,
these are the best lights, theseOutbound lights sick, well,
(28:08):
I'll just get those.
And I, you know, look, they'repricey, yeah, but they also last
forever.
They're made, you know, hereit's like the, the guys behind
it are great engineers and so,anyways, I bought them.
They're still running myoriginal pair.
So when I started doing some adproduction for them, so I like
would do some I've done some adfor the ads for them they put in
a rotation yeah, that uh havedone really well for them, which
is awesome.
Um, they were like, oh, we'llsend you some lights.
I'm like, yeah, I mean, if youwant to, the only reason I had
them send me new lights isbecause, uh, the logo was kind
of worn down because I beat itup over three years you know, so
they're still working greatlike it's.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (28:29):
Uh, I
was like yeah, whatever you guys
want to do this was like theperfect setup, because I was
about to like try to sell themon outbound and he sold us on
outbound.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (28:35):
So
I've seen his videos on
outbound I did not see those.
Oh, they pop up all the time, and so, on the trip that I told
you we're doing, we're going tocome through SAC, but we're
going to Bellingham.
I'm going to see if I can hookup with.
Tom.
Oh yeah, tom's right up there, yeah, yeah, and I may be able to
go do some night rides with himon some real steep, nasty stuff
.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (28:54):
Yeah
that'd be fun.
Tom's a good dude course at seaotter.
And then we went to dinnertogether at the chowder house so
I get to hang out that theoutbound crew.
We're just nice eating.
They're eating a big oldchowder bowls out of bread and
stuff and we're just hanging out.
So yeah, usually I always catchup with them at every festival
and stuff and tom's always agood dude.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (29:10):
So
they're out there too, uh.
We do the 24 hour in the oldclub, though, out here, yep, and
they're out there, uh, withthat, so we should probably just
just inform joe that we havemade an offer to sponsor you and
Jess and CBAS, cbas.
Whoever wants to come wait, maybe we need five.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (29:27):
Oh,
the five hour, yeah, we we we're
offering to sponsor your teamIf you guys want to come out.
I think they allow e-bikes.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (29:32):
No, oh
yeah, cbas isn't going to do it,
then you know what?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (29:37):
It's
not that hard.
Look at me.
I'm like.
I'm not as big as sea bass, butI'm not that small I think you
tell him that I don't know.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (29:42):
We'll
talk.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (29:43):
I've
never seen him not ride a non
e-bike.
You tell him, come out here andI'll ride every day with him,
but but I think that could be apart of the shtick where you
kind of hide his bike.
Maybe put a wrap over it andtry and the whole shtick is him
trying to sneak out on thecourse.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (30:00):
I
fucking love that Right.
Well, I thought it'd be funnyis if?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (30:04):
we got
Brendan involved and Brendan
would keep trying to engineersolutions on how to improve our
performance, but it keptbackfiring.
It's just nonstop.
Like how many laps did you guysget done over 24 hours?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (30:15):
Like
two.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (30:15):
He's
like all right, I got this jet
engine, let's try this out.
And it's just like everything,backfires.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (30:19):
I work
for a missile company.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (30:21):
I could
get you a jet engine.
Yes, I think he has one.
I think, he already made a jetengine video.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (30:25):
Oh my
gosh, Well they got RC jet
engines that are really big, butI could get something a little
bit.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (30:29):
Yeah
, but you got to put it on a
bike.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (30:37):
I mean
you can't put like an right
engage, boom, all right, go, andthen like it takes off, and
then like a second later it's merunning past the other
direction, like on fire running.
We'll get that gel, you knowthe fireproof gel stuff, and
I'll take one for the team andI'll just run through frame and
that would be the shot.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (30:55):
You
could spend the entire weekend
of the 24 just filming about howyou can sneak on the course in
various ways with engines ande-bikes and what have you Well,
you guys can see how my mindworks.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (31:07):
I mean,
like everything's an idea, right
?
Oh yeah.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (31:10):
It's
like the tire guys, who can't
walk through a parking lotwithout picking out the tires
that need to be replaced.
You just do it.
You know you're just likeyou're in it, like you're just
like you're in it, like you'realways on.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (31:20):
I need
to, I need to take a minute to
like bring it down to like areal serious level, okay roger
that we need to do a well Ithought you're gonna fart just
there I'm not, I'm not.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (31:29):
He
does like to get everybody
quiet.
We're not the narcoach, wedon't have a fart we don't have
a fart mic or whatever um, Ilove those guys.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (31:36):
By the
way, I'm not talking shit about
them oh yeah, everybody jokeswith each other.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hi (31:40):
We're
just messing around okay.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (31:41):
So, um
, honestly, we want to do a
wellness check on you, joe, because you have said publicly
at least 14 times that I'veheard that, since you quit your
day job as a broadcast engineerin january, that you're headed
towards financial ruin.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (31:59):
So
we just want to do a wellness
check and see how's it going man, are you doing?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (32:03):
okay, we
need to start a go fund me like
I say that jokingly becauselike, like, anything could go
wrong at any point, but that'sthe whole risk of life, right.
So I mean I've got enoughthings in the, in the pipe.
That's like I'm actually okay,like I was like, yeah, we're
okay right now, like I don'thave to think about that much
and I could just focus on doingstuff.
So I haven't had to struggleyet and I'm sure that's going to
(32:23):
come, and then I'll find newsolutions to problems and do it
all that stuff.
But yeah, I just did somereally cool deals.
I was working with Strava onsome stuff.
I was working with, uh,finishing REI thing recently.
Um, I just did a thing withhoney st works.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (32:37):
So
cool, cool.
Yeah, that's awesome man, andhonestly, we were talking about
um everyman jack yeah did I getthat right?
Okay, I'm sorry, but justbecause of you, we were talking
about that I think we're bothgonna go out and buy so you've
got at least two additionalcustomers.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (32:52):
Yeah I'm
telling you right now, dude,
that company is legit and like Isay this, like I may have said
this before, but like I've beenso fortunate to be able to pick
and choose who I work with and Iknow still people hate when
they see an ad or something, butlike they have to understand
this is like one it's going tokeep me moving forward with
content and stuff.
But also like I pride myself onthe stuff that I make, like I
think it's good, you know, and Istill like, even if it's an ad,
(33:15):
I know I put my heart and soulinto it.
Like that, that everymanjacklike pto spot is like we, it's
funny, that was a lot of worklike, regardless of the fact
that it was, I mean the contentto me.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (33:25):
Yeah,
you know, you can obviously see
the stuff and I think itactually says, you know, paid
promotion, whatever on top oninstagram anyways.
But, um, it's good, it's goodcontent.
So, whether it's ad or not, Idon't know, and I think that's
the best ad is the one that'slike I want to watch it.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (33:37):
You know
, super bullshit, I want to
watch it even if it's an ad yeah, I, that's what I try, like I
can see that eventually, likeultimately, like that's why I
like my business is calledcalifornia productions,
essentially like it, so it'sseparate.
But it's like that could bethat like where I approach
companies and like, hey, I,here's what I've done in the
past on my own page, here's whatI could do for you, you know,
and I think it would be an easysell, like if you handed that
(33:59):
everyman jack spot to someoneand said they would think
there's a production company orsomething behind.
It's just me, it was me right.
So, um, it's been good and, like you know, we talk about
everyman jack.
They have been a.
They were one of the first likemajor sponsors I had on the
page three something years agoand they reached out and I
thought it was a joke at first.
I was like what?
But uh, they're very cool, theyhave a great atmosphere.
(34:20):
Like Like Brad, I went andshowed him Nevada City, him and
his buddies One of the guys thatworks there, brad, he mountain
bikes, he gravel bikes, he doeseverything.
Lonnie, I work with her, shesurfs and she's doing a marathon
this weekend.
So they're all like very muchoutdoors focused, just like the
company is, and they're alwaysdoing like they do beach cleanup
days.
They're a certified B Corp.
(34:41):
Right now, their PTO thing islike hey, get outside.
This is just the messaging ofthis company.
So they definitely have theproof in the pudding or no?
What's the word I'm looking for.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (34:55):
It's
the things they say in their
marketing is what they actuallyare.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (34:58):
They're
legit, legit, very cool vibes
when I go to the HQ.
It's so fun Cause it's likeeveryone's there to help, Like
it was a great time.
The vibes are good and, yeah,it was great.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (35:06):
I
like that as a from a from a
company standpoint.
You, you know, sometimes it'sreally difficult to get your
product in front of people, especially if it's a consumable.
In a retail environment you haveto fight for shelf space is
what they always talk about andum, and so some of these
companies, like you know, theyrun into this brick wall of
getting a really cool productout, but they don't do the
(35:26):
politics and they don't do thethe huge buy-ins and stuff like
that and they don't deal withthat.
And so you guys allow them toget out there, you give them a
conduit to get out there and getin front of people so that
people can see it.
You know, and and we talkedabout that with outbound.
We did a an episode withoutbound and they were running
into the same kind of issuetrying trying to get that shelf
(35:46):
space and you guys can help withthat, and so that's a great,
great place to be.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (35:51):
So yeah,
they've done a good job of
disseminating lights to like alot of people now.
So it's like I know they gotremy some some lights uh, they
got.
So they got some like higher uppeople like it's seth from seth
bike hacks got some lightseventually like so they
definitely like got him in theright hands, because to me it is
like one of the best productsand best companies.
Like I know there's like magic, magic shine and they're out of
(36:13):
china or whatever.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hi (36:14):
Don't
say that around, tom, he will
get.
He gets a twitch, he gets atick, yeah, he gets.
He gets twitching, yeah, youknow what?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (36:21):
I told
him to do is like we should have
gone and like sprinkled a bunchof breadcrumbs on top of their
tenants, the otter, and like allthe seagulls would have just
pooped on everything.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (36:27):
That
would be funny that was
hilarious is that, like I didnot expect this, I, I and I
hadn't used an outbound light, but that is our best performing
episode.
Is that damn outbound light?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (36:37):
well
, I mean, yeah, yeah, you know's
funny Cause we started bringinguntil now.
Yeah, well, I thought it wasjust just just is doing okay,
yeah, and so like, and then yeah.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (36:48):
Yeah.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (36:49):
Yeah
.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (36:50):
Wait,
we should talk about why we got
you on because, like I like, wehad a connection with Jess and
you know, I so the story.
I think our listeners have heardthis, but Joe hasn't heard this
.
So, like we heard a rumor thatJess was going to move to Tucson
and so I just sent her a coldemail.
I said, hey, we got a littlepodcast here, we're doing pretty
well, but we're really pluggedinto the Tucson scene.
(37:12):
If this is true and you needany help, like just, I don't
need anything from you, but ifyou need something from me, I'm
happy to help you.
And I just sent it out thereand she's like hey, you know,
we're kind of figuring out whatwe're going to do.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (37:23):
turns
out they're not moving to tucson
, which is sad for us yeah, thatmight be kind of my fault I
figured it might be, so I'mgiving joe the finger on me and
sea bass being up here ishelpful, but she's got a bunch
of friends up here, her, andthat's awesome, so it's like
norcal's, so good, dude, anyways, continue.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (37:39):
Yeah.
So she's like hey, thanks a lot, we're kind of figuring out
what we're going to do.
We're kind of on Rumspringa orsomething like that right now.
We're just kind of wanderingand Tucson's in the trade space.
And then about two months latershe emailed me.
She said hey, we're coming toTucson.
So, I was like awesome, cool, let us know what we can do.
(38:07):
it'd be great, and then you guyshad this thing on saturday,
whatever.
I think the listeners know thestory.
Yeah, yep, so we put out.
So you guys, I just we had hadlunch and I just randomly said,
hey, if you guys you didn'tdon't sound like you got
anything going on sunday, comeon out, I'll show you some rad
trails on the east side oftucson.
They're not right, um, they arefucking red they're fun and
they're flowy and they're smoothis that not the definition of
(38:27):
red?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (38:28):
no
, no.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (38:29):
Well
ask, joe, what's the definition
I mean it's in his name, I thinkhe knows yeah, I know, just
define it for you as long as I'mhanging with good people.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (38:37):
Any
trail is gonna be fun.
I'm not gonna be worried aboutI'm not.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (38:40):
He
said my man right here.
He said fun what's thedifference you didn't say it was
rad yeah, I'm just, there is adifference.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (38:46):
Like
uh bugs was, rad bugs is right,
I'm not going to debate that'swhat I'm talking about that's
fine fair enough bugs is redeast coast is yeah, east side's
not right I'm just saying don'tthrow a rat around these guys
were like booked up minute byminute by minute and we had a
plan with them and they're like, hey, dude, we're wiped, we
gotta do some work you know whatit was, by the way, like it was
(39:08):
, because we did, we're gonna goand then, like cyclopia
happened.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (39:11):
We
weren't sure what cyclopia was
gonna be.
Um, we knew, I knew I wanted tofilm some stuff there, but it
turned in like it was obviouslya much bigger thing than we
suspected.
So it was like we ended upspending a lot of time.
A lot of people from the digday ended up in the beer tent
and we were in the beer tentlike grabbing a beer and then
everybody started filtering in.
I was like wait a minute, weknow, we all know each other
what the hell like so you guysgot hammered and couldn't make
(39:32):
it out to the east side.
Basically, we had a couple beersand then we were riding up and
down though the cyclovia thing, which was super cool and, yeah,
by the time we looked at thewatch, it's like three or four
o'clock or whatever.
It was like, oh man, yeah, itwas, we were toast.
It was like, definitely, and wegot interviewed by.
There was a local uh productioncompany that the visit tucson
or somebody hired for to coverthe cyclopia event.
Yeah, so we got interviewed bythem and the local news
(39:53):
broadcast interviewed us alsoand I'm pissed off because I
felt I was watching the news andwe weren't on.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (39:59):
They
cut us out of there, right
because our answers were better,do they not?
No, they, they called me andsaid should we put?
Should we put jess and crk inthe video?
And I was like they justfucking canceled on me.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (40:09):
No, you
know what it was, and like it
was at the very end of the newsbroadcast, like oh, by the way,
there was a bike event, dorks.
And then they just like 30seconds of like that, and I was
like you bastards so, so anyways, jess as a consolary prize.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (40:24):
She's
like listen, josh, we can't make
it.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (40:25):
But
I'll do this, I'll do one with
you remotely, so we set up withjess.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (40:28):
We did
it.
We released that episode andjoe sends me a dm.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (40:31):
He's
like hey, jackass why didn't I
get invite to?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (40:35):
that,
and I'm, like you, invited, jess
you invited jess and not me.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (40:38):
I'm like
hey I have more followers than
her.
All right, it's always acompetition if you put like
either one of us on first.
Like I don't think jess is ascompetitive as I am, but maybe,
maybe it's just me.
But like, yeah, if I see it,I'm like all right, where?
How come I didn't get an invite?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (40:51):
huh
I was.
I was saying we, we gottapressure sea bass now.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (40:56):
Yeah,
yeah, he'll do it yeah, we gotta
get him on.
He's always good times.
He's like the nicest guy on theplanet dude I.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (41:00):
I
want to meet that guy because
I'll tell you what.
I first started watching hisvideos and like he, he can ride
man I just want to learn how tojump.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (41:09):
That
guy can jump so I tell you what
us big boys got to sticktogether, yeah dude, I was in
awe the first time.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (41:15):
I
followed him down.
I don't know if it was northstar, it might have been north
star.
We were riding north star, oneof the downhill parks here up in
tahoe.
Uh, truckie, I guesstechnically I don't know.
Whatever you want to say, anyways, I'm following him down
and the first time I see himlike whip out the back end on a
like I was like whoa, it waslike crazy to watch.
I was like it was so sick.
I was like ah, it was so funfollowing him down.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (41:33):
Man
, it's great he's got good
talent man, he really does, yeah, and so I I'd love to brother
durge is just like the nicestpeople on the planet.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (41:40):
It's
just so fun, man.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (41:42):
Yeah
, it's the whole community, the
fact that you guys are all kindof creating this kind of like
centralized NorCal likeinadvertently, but it is
happening yeah.
It's.
It's it's cool because thecollaborations are really.
I think they're really nice.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (41:55):
They
kind of feed off each other,
it's like we just want to seeeach other succeed and that's
kind of like.
I think it's nice.
I think it's not just us three,but it's like anybody that's in
the content creator business, like when you guys are doing a
podcast, like happy to jump onor whatever.
It's like I'm not like it's.
(42:18):
We're all kind of in the samestruggle in the same game.
So it's like we all have ourdifferent takes on how to make
content, whether it's techfocused or educational focused
or comedy focused.
Yeah, we're all kind of in thesame struggle, man Like.
So it's like, yeah, there's nopoint in I don't see it as a
struggle, man.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (42:33):
We
just drink whiskey and talk
about bikes.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (42:35):
Yeah
, Honestly, this is what we do
at the trail when we're waiting.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (42:39):
Yeah,
this is what we do at the shop
when we're talking.
I mean, this is what I do in mygarage.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (42:44):
We go
through rough times I mean when
I've got deadline after deadlinepiled up and I'm behind
schedule and I can't think ofsomething or whatever then
stress hits and it's like boom.
But this was my week that I gotit all done and executed and I
put it out and I'm like I took abreather today.
So I went cruising on themotorcycle for a couple of hours
.
I was like, okay, I got onemore thing.
I'm finishing the TucsonYouTube video now and I've been
(43:05):
slacking on it because I've beentraveling a little bit, but I'm
almost done with it.
I got to put voiceovers andsome graphics and I should have
the Tucson video out.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (43:11):
I
can't wait.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (43:14):
I was
hoping this week, but it'll
probably be next week, but it'slink to all of Joe's stuff.
This video because, Joe, we gotto talk about when you want us
to release this.
We're backlogged.
We have, I think, eightrecorded videos.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (43:25):
So, like
a recorded podcast, I should be
100, though you know rightafter.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (43:30):
Jess.
Well, we've already committedto Vittoria.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (43:32):
Yeah,
Vittoria Ken.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (43:33):
Avery
and.
Vittoria.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hi (43:37):
Since
we don't do video, nobody can
see this.
But joe just put his hand overthe.
He just I simulated me leavingthis talk to the hand.
I I gotta call out.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (43:45):
I'm
gonna call out ken real quick
because, like most of ourlisteners, I'm like, hey, I'll
send you the raw cut if you wantto listen, or most of our
guests, if I'll send you the rawcut of the audio.
Yeah, if you want me to like,go in.
You know I do music production.
So if you want me to go in andlike mess with it, cut stuff
whatever.
Ken comes back and says can youcut out all my ums?
Oh, God.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (44:04):
And then
I listen to the episode.
How about you learn how to talk, Ken?
Josh "Magellan" Anderso (44:08):
There's
a lot of ums.
Did you do it?
I haven't done it yet.
That's my task.
Tomorrow's my off Friday, right?
So I got a four-hour task to gothrough.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (44:18):
This is
why I should be the next episode
, because all you got to do isexport and go.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (44:22):
Well
, yeah, you're gold.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (44:23):
You're
gold right off the bat we
should tell Ken like sorry bro,we had to delay a week.
We had a professional on theair, but then we got to delay
Park, and then we got to delaySRAM, and then we got to delay
everybody.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (44:33):
Dude, I
do these live streams by myself
for two hours straight and talkto nobody other than me in chat
how in hell?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (44:44):
okay
, so I listened to your last one
, yeah yeah, and I'm, and I andI told dane, because that was
the, I'm unemployed, no, no, I'mdoing this full time.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (44:47):
It was
, yeah, it was a couple weeks
ago or something, maybe maybe amonth ago.
Okay, and let's do.
His last podcast was like hourand 45 minutes and I listened to
it and I thought to myselfjesus christ, dane, and I like
to talk, yeah, like, oh, my god, like, how do you keep the
energy up for that long?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (45:01):
bro, I
like telling stories.
I don't know Like the wholereason why I got into this thing
was to entertain the pants offof people.
So like the only reason I lovedoing live streams I think the
only reason I don't do more isbecause, like I can't think more
than a day in front of my face.
Like I should just take a dayand do it every day.
Like you day that, like youknow, but like like every
(45:26):
tuesday I'm like the only reasonI went to go ride yesterday is
because kyle like hit me up.
I was in the bay filming theeveryman jack stuff and I was
down there and he was like, hey,do you want to ride tomorrow?
I was like, actually, brilliant, I'm already down towards here,
let's go ride a place I haven'tridden in a long time because
it's down, like it kind of morelike towards the bay area, and
then my buddy jay's down there.
I was like it worked yeah butsometimes I need, like almost
like, my personal pto officerwhich is what I'm promoting now
is like so I need somebody tocall me and be like, hey, let's
go outside.
Like yeah, I'm coming, but like, sometimes you get caught up in
(45:48):
your own thing, right, like youjust like lose track of things.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (45:50):
The
cool, the cool thing is like
dane always takes us on a ride, like anytime we're gonna do
anything, there's a rideinvolved like today.
Yeah, he's like I'm leaving theshop at four.
By the way, dan owns a bikeshop.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (46:01):
Guru
bikes in tucson, arizona.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (46:03):
But uh
, the best shop in tucson,
probably the best shop inarizona, in the country, in the
country yeah, maybe even theworld rule 37, rule 37 yeah,
yeah, just amazing shop I lovethe shop.
Um, that's why I picked you towork with oh, yeah, yeah, I mean
uh, so so he always integratesa ride.
So today he's like hey, so soI'm in this crazy fucking
(46:24):
meeting on site all day, suittie all that crap and you had to
get dressed up.
How do you get dressed up andnegotiate and all that crap, and
and dane's like, hey, I'm gonnaleave the shop at four.
We're riding before the podcastand I'm like yes now, we didn't
have much time, we had like anhour yeah but there's more than
enough, but we got out for anhour.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (46:40):
And
.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (46:41):
Dane
fucked his shock up the
suspension grew, so I'm testingthe Trail Cat.
Okay.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (46:46):
Yeah
, and I got it dropped off by
Pivot and I'm testing it and theshock was too low so I'm pedal
striking.
So I went to air it up and myshock pump sits in my little
fanny pack.
It must be dry rotted.
You know, fanny pack, it mustbe dry rotted because I've stuck
it on, and it just startedleaking.
It leaked all the air out ofthe shock.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (47:03):
Yeah.
So Dane rode his trail cat homeas if it was a firebird.
Yeah.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (47:08):
It's
.
The head tube was so slackedout, the shocks bottomed out the
whole time.
Pedal striking.
Like I can barely pedal withouthitting the ground, so it was
rough, but we still got to ridein.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (47:28):
You know
what it is.
Maybe this is quotable, maybethere was a quote to be made
here somewhere, but it's likeremoving, removing the wall of
decisions, you know, like makessomething so much easier.
Right, there's a, there's a,there's a way to like really
surmise that.
But it's like as soon as thedecision making process is
removed from you, the processbecomes much easier.
Right, it's like we're going togo ride like OK, let's go.
Yeah Instead of like should wego ride?
We're gonna go ride like okay, let's go ride.
Yeah, instead of like should wego ride?
Well, let me think, like it'sright if you can remove the
question and just have it astatement, like it's like, all
right, here we go can we applythis to our sex lives well yeah,
(47:50):
what kind of?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (47:54):
uh
.
So I was thinking about everytime you, you ask your
significant like what do youwant for dinner?
And you can, you know that'sliterally telling them, it's
telling them to make thedecision, and then they're like
I don't know what do you wantfor dinner, and you can you know
, that's literally telling them.
It's telling them to make thedecision, and then they're like
I don't know what do you wantScrewed, and then that's the
challenge they send it rightback.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (48:08):
I have a
ground rule, yeah.
Josh "Magellan" Anderso (48:09):
Anytime
I'm asked what my opinion is, I
don't say what do you want?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (48:13):
You
don't Never, never, never.
Right now, try it on me, thinkof it on the spot.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (48:19):
I'm not
that quick try it on.
How about uh beef wellington?
Like we're not gonna do thatokay well, why did you?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (48:24):
ask me
no, I don't say how about we're
doing beef wellington?
I'm making beef wellington ifyou want to eat it, cool if
you're not 14 hours jesus hey,what a dumb.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (48:33):
What a
dumb food, by the way, like.
Why don't you just eat a steakand then eat some bread on the
side?
Why are you gonna spend 18extra hours wrapping it and all
this stuff?
It's dumb.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (48:41):
Should
we bring Ronnie from DVO on the
podcast real quick?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (48:43):
I
don't think the audio will be
good.
I could get him on.
He wants to get a bike, so Igot to test ride that Amflo.
Have you seen that thing?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (48:51):
No, I
don't know what that is.
That's a DJI DJI.
The.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (48:54):
DJI
powered e-bike.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (48:56):
Yeah
one kind of does the shifting
for you?
No, that's the tram one, that'sthe tram one, this one, this
one's.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (49:04):
The
whole world's talking about it
and it's uh got the most power.
I told you this guy, except forme, apparently he is not into
bike tech.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (49:08):
You
know, I was listening to him
and he was talking about e-bikesand he said he didn't like the
lightweight ones.
And I'm like, ah, he's got alightweight one.
So like he's saying that hedoesn't like the lightweight
ones, but he doesn't even knowthat he has a lightweight one,
the shuttle am shuttle, shuttleam is 47 pounds.
It's one of the lightest, mostpowerful bikes on the market.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (49:28):
It's got
a big, it's got a 650, so you
don't like no low power 250 so.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (49:32):
So
here's what it was, and and
this is gonna, it's gonna comearound.
You're gonna get what I'mgetting out here but, he goes.
Well, you know, I like this one, I didn't like that lightweight
one that I rode.
Guess what he rode?
Calirado Kid (aka C (49:46):
specialized
levo yes, that's how yeah I go
dave hates specialized, I don'thate no, but I also rode the
forest, all which there was ahow was that I got?
It, the battery life waspointless.
So that whole miles.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (49:59):
So
I think I think the one you
rode because, uh, I think youwere doing worldwide for a while
, right, yeah, um, I think theone you rode had a brose motor,
or brose motor, which is thesame as a specialized, so yeah,
I don't know.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (50:11):
I just
remember that I was going out
for an e-bike ride.
I'm like this is gonna be sick,I can get tons of laps.
And I got to the top of thehill and I was at 50% already.
I was like, well, I could justdo one downhill and go back home
(50:32):
Like were riding one of themost agile poppy fun e-bikes
made.
Like if it's, if it's solightweight when I throw my back
out every time I lift it intothe truck, huh well, josh has a
rocky mountain it's like 60pounds yeah so heavy
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (50:42):
now
granted, it's a monster truck,
he'll run over whatever he wants.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (50:45):
But
I'm also big, so it's extra
large aluminum.
It's got heavy components on it, yeah, and it's got a ton of
power.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (50:50):
But
that pivot is, even though it's
it's heavier than my otherpivot, my sl that that pivot is
so light.
Josh "Magellan" Anders (50:57):
Speaking
of pivot in your video when you
went to the pivot head course, yeah, you said.
You said you weren't sure, butyou said you're the first person
to see their, their prototypeyeah, we have to call bullshit
on that?
No, no, 100 wasn't no I waslike we released an audio of
podcasts yeah, a year ago thisis why.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (51:17):
This is
why, like sometimes I need
someone like kyle there, becauselike taylor, because he'll
tyler in line.
Tyler didn't like he won't callme on it like, but if I've got
kyle or somebody there who Iwork with regularly, like
they'll be like shut up you know, I mean I'm waiting for the
comedic timing to hit and likesometimes, like I'm like he's
like the andy richter to myconan o'brien right, like jess
will do this too to meoccasionally.
But it's like they know I'msaying something ridiculous so
(51:39):
they'll call me on it and that'spart of the joke.
Like it's got.
But nobody called me on thatone.
So I was like, okay, I'm justgonna write it off, you know I
need somebody to tell me to shutup.
Did you get to ride with tyler?
Oh yeah, you did.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (51:50):
Yeah,
that's right, it was in the
video, I think yep, I wascarrying a 30 pound camera bag
the whole time, so I didn'treally get a full sense of the
bike and he's gonna say that onthe national trail he was also
carrying the 30 pound camera itwas yeah, the whole down that
pack on.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (52:03):
That's
no shit yeah, like climbing.
Well, we usually do mormon, youknow not, and down national,
but uh, but, yeah, phoenix is nojoke, so that, no, I would say
arizona as a whole.
I'd always describe it asalmost like uphill, both ways
yes, sounds like a bad thing, but it's not.
It's challenging climbs thatare rewarding.
Because you're like dude I, Icleared that section.
(52:24):
Like you're talking aboutclimbs now, right, like think of
highline and sedona, like thatclimb up there.
There's several sections whereyou're like dude, I cleared it,
you know.
And so like I think nationalslike that, I think there's some
tucson stuff like that whereit's just there's no smooth
surface.
It's like and that's a goodthing like I also really enjoy
that and that's one of thereasons why we're good at
(52:44):
mountain biking.
Like if you put a road biker onthere, they would die like, and
they're, you know, theywouldn't do 100 miles out there
right it's like just a differentstyle of riding.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (52:52):
I
was watching your video about
fruta when you were going backto colorado oh yeah and uh, your
fruta section and I was likeman, I really got to get there.
You know, that's one of theplaces I haven't been.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (53:01):
It
looked amazing yeah, there's
some great stuff out there.
I would say the call like thattrip was exceptional and I
always talk about this one.
It's funny because it was veryearly on in the channel.
I had sub 1000 subscribers onyoutube when I went to that trip
, so it must have been like Imight have had like 400
subscribers when I made thattrip.
Yeah, and that was.
I called it the california kidsgrand return to colorado like I
was already bombastic I wasalready like you know what I'm
(53:23):
saying?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (53:24):
fake
it till you.
Make it, bro, yeah and it wascrazy.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (53:26):
So I I
road tripped from where I was at
, stopped in reno, rode in rito, rode in ely nevada, then I
ended up uh, yeah, I ended up ingrand junction where I reached
out to crash and gad, yes, and abunch of these guys and rode
salida road.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (53:39):
Uh
, buena vista was the one that
looked really good.
It looked like dude.
That was a gem.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (53:43):
I didn't
, I didn't even, I never even
thought of it or heard of it,but I I stayed there and I was
like, oh, there's trails hereand I had an absolute blast.
And I know they probably builtmore since I left those years
and years and years ago.
But yeah, and then, of course,we did the big Crested Butte
trip, which is the first timerunning Crested Butte out there
and it was exceptional in almostevery way, like it's one of my
favorite places to ride.
So when we got a chance there'san agency that represents visit
(54:06):
Crested Butte and they reachedout I was like hell yeah, like I
was like I would love to showpeople how rad this place is,
cause it's, it is trulyexceptional.
The scenery, the writing, it's,it's amazing.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (54:17):
So
, so a lot.
That's.
That was where YouTube, sothat's what do you call that?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (54:30):
Long
form Is that right?
And I don't even think I shotanything in Crested Butte for
YouTube like ever.
Like I, when I did this trip, the Crested Butte trip we took
with Chasing Epic was BKXC Brianyeah, it was his trip so I
wasn't really recording on thattrip, I don't think.
And then I maybe did a HartmanRocks video at the very end, but
like that's outside of CrestedButte, still really fun.
But then, like when I went thistime, when I was riding with
kyle and them, I think I justdid shorts and stuff.
(54:50):
I don't think I actually made ayoutube video out of that.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (54:52):
So
that's like that's what I was
going to ask the long formversus short form, uh is there
one that you feel like is justbetter or like is there?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (55:00):
short
form got him famous, but long
form makes him money, is that?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (55:04):
no, I
mean like like you definitely
generate more revenue off a longform.
Short form we don't really makemuch off of um, but like, short
form is just a different beastbecause you don't need to worry
about a thumbnail and a title.
Really, you don't really like.
As long as the concept's goodand shareable, it will.
It will disseminate like um,whereas like long form you, if
you don't have a good thumbnailand title, then no one will
(55:26):
click on it in the first placeand no one will ever see it,
despite how good it is.
So it's like there's a there'sa bigger barrier to entry to
long form, especially if you'vedone 30 hours editing this video
or something and you know youthink you've got a good concept.
If you can't nail a thumbnailand title like that video, it
just won't be seen because youhave that's what people see on
YouTube.
It's like that's still thejudging factor.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (55:45):
It's
it's definitely tricky yeah,
yes, I'm trying to figure it out.
So I I had told uh, jess this, and I've said this on the
program a few times that I'mkind of deep diving on youtube
lately.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (55:55):
I was
a non-youtuber for so we should
probably just orient crk here atthe fact that dane is really
old, I mean like he's still likein the facebook rules.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (56:05):
He
says that all the time I'm 29
years old.
Um, if, how about the gray inthe beard?
Yeah, I do that on purpose, sothat people take me serious, a
youthful 29.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (56:14):
Yeah,
gray beard.
Dane "Suspension Guru" (56:15):
Because
if I didn't have gray, they
would just disregard me.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (56:18):
Yeah,
you're a gray beard.
I'd be like a millennial orsomething, yeah.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (56:21):
But
yeah, so my deep dive in
YouTube lately is just figuring, figuring out a search stuff if
I want to work on my trailer, you know I search it.
If I want to watch you, I caneasily find you if I want.
Uh, lately I've been wanting tofind out about particular
product, like we're bringing newproducts in the store or
something, and so it'sdefinitely in the title, because
I'm searching it by the titleand then I mean, I think, if I'm
(56:44):
correct, I think youtube is oneof the biggest search engines
essentially now, like becausepeople like what you're doing,
like they go into YouTube andsearch for it.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (56:51):
Uh, and
the TikToks like that as well.
They're like major searchengines as well.
We don't think of it that way,but it's like a lot of people
just go search for stuff inthese platforms now, and so it's
definitely different.
I spend more time watchingYouTube than anything else, and
whether it's like I found myselfgoing down weird rabbit holes
of educational stuff.
Recently I watched this 40 to afull hour long video of the
(57:12):
Black Plague and explained howand why I was like I don't know
why, but I needed to know.
No it's true.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (57:18):
You
just get into something.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (57:19):
I don't
know how it even gets in front
of you, but then you're like oh,that's interesting.
But at least when I watch thatstuff too, I come out of it and
I feel like I just learnedsomething I.
That was a, that was a wellworth one hour, whereas, like
sometimes you don't always getthat.
And so I think this is part ofthe reasons why I got into
adventure motorcycle stuff toois because I found out like
brian sent me this video aboutthe northern california bdr,
(57:39):
which is a backcountry discoveryroute and essentially it's like
a.
It's kind of like imba.
You know.
Imba like is advocates formountain bike trails and stuff
these guys advocate for likebackcountry motorcycle trails.
So it's like in northerncalifornia it goes from mammoth
all the way to the oregon borderand it's like a eight, eight
day trip, wow, and each stage islike kind of predefined, it's
(58:00):
all mapped out, so as long asyou stick to the route, you can
end up in a new town each day.
You can either camp or you canstay.
But it's like this beautifulway to see these states, like
idaho has one, colorado has one,and you can go from really the
mexican border in southerncalifornia all the way, uh, to
canada, basically all throughthese bdrs and it's you could do
(58:21):
it on an adventure motorcycleor whatever, and like I really
caught my eye of a great way toexplore our world.
You know, and like all thelittle back countries and little
towns and I've already gone ona couple rides with it that we
discover these cities and townsthat I didn't even know existed
here and I've lived here for allforever.
So it's like it's really funand like it's just another way
to explore.
You know, kind of like bikepacking but you don't have to
pedal, which is great yes, allright, joe, I gotta take us down
(58:43):
.
Josh "Magellan" Anderso (58:43):
Serious
again.
Oh shit, I'm sorry.
Oh god, it's what I do what isit?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (58:47):
is
somebody dying?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (58:48):
no,
I'm gonna kind of cherry pick
this is when he gives us thefart joke this.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (58:50):
Yeah
, there's no fart joke here.
I promise, I promise I promise.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (58:53):
So I
have a hypothesis which is like
what strategies do?
We have hypothesis and then wego to prove them.
Sure I'm gonna try to prove myhypothesis.
Okay, I think you are a reallyheavy marijuana user.
Oh, and the reason why?
Okay, I think that, and you?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (59:08):
could
see.
You should see his face.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (59:09):
It's
legal because I heard you say
that you would give upsuspension before you would give
up a dropper post and I needyou to explain that rationale
what you're saying is sayingthat he's got to be high.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (59:26):
He's
got to be high.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (59:27):
He's
saying I'd rather have a dropper
post than suspension on my bikeI don't know, man, please
explain that rationale and thenand defend yourself yes wow, I
mean, is that like a white?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hi (59:37):
glove
, did you just slap him?
I did like virtual, okay, so?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (59:41):
if
you're riding a flow trail at a
bike park, you don't needsuspension, all right, uh, you'd
rather have a dropper right.
If you're riding throughchundery stuff, all right, which
is fine.
That bike's gonna be lively ashell without suspension.
But man, that dropper justcomes in.
So clutch man I.
I love that dropper post somuch.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (59:58):
Now
, I haven't ridden, I am not
convinced I feel like, well, so,like at the veil, like out here
, you know the trail that youtried to call rad.
It is rad, it's not rad.
Um, you don't need a dropperout there, you really don't I
would.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:00:14):
I used
to ring that.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:00:16):
I used
to ride that trail on a single
speed rigid bike and I loved itwith a dropper post okay, just
tell me right now, but you justproved what he said I know how
much fun would you have downhillwith your seat all the way up
well, this guy, the old schooldownhiller, who rides twice as
fast as me, only drops his seatthis much and very rarely stands
up.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (01:00:36):
I
mean I race downhill bikes when
there weren't droppers.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:00:39):
And
you're still racing downhill
bikes, as if there weren'tdroppers.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (01:00:42):
I
mean, my downhill bike doesn't
have a dropper.
But downhill bikes don't.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:00:53):
But
anytime you ride a trail,
whether it's downhill or xc orwhatever, and you got like a
downhill section, then you goback up in a pedally up section,
you go back down.
Like every time you'remiserable on one side of that.
Like can you imagine that rideversus?
Just like?
I don't think.
I think that's moreadvantageous than suspension to
me.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (01:01:02):
Like
I feel like you wouldn't be on
that trail if you didn't havesuspension listen, here's the
deal.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:01:08):
You.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (01:01:09):
You
have not convinced us, joe and
it's a challenge and you havenot even a.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:01:13):
You
have not, you've.
You've totally glossed over themarijuana aspect of this,
definitely not a pothead likethis.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:01:20):
Uh, I
like whiskey, but uh, you know,
yeah, it's I thought everybodyin california was a pothead no.
So the funny thing is I wasliving in colorado when they
made it legal legal in Coloradois the first state to do it, so
that was like I still at thatpoint I don't really smoke or
anything so I was like they madeit legal.
I think we went and waited inline at a dispensary just
because it was like historic, itfelt historic or something, but
like a thing to do it was justnever.
(01:01:41):
I've never really been into itthat much like I like a good
whiskey or beer or something, but like nowadays they've got
like edibles and stuff like Iremember an old story about like
weed is like our buddy gave usthese edibles and, like you know
, they made them homemade right,so you don't know what's in and
how much is in it whatever.
Like I had, no, it could be awild ride yeah and I remember
specifically, they gave us thesecookies and you're like, all
right, well, let's like we'lleach eat.
They said don't eat more than ahalf, like are you gonna die?
(01:02:03):
I was like, all right, cool, sowe like eat a half.
And then we're like let's watcha funny movie and like an hour
into the movie we're likenothing's happened, like let's
just eat the other half you know, so that move that's how it all
went wrong.
Yeah, we're just like oh my god, just the next morning.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hi (01:02:18):
We're
like where am I?
I?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:02:21):
remember
like when the credits rolled,
the wife and I kind of looked ateach other like we screwed up,
like Like we were, we've done,we've gone wrong here, Like this
is like we're just.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (01:02:33):
I
don't know if I told the story
in front of us on the show, butI have a jaw issue and so I'm in
pain a lot, and so I usuallyuse something to help me sleep A
lot of time.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:02:54):
It's a
sleep.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (01:02:54):
Why
do you got to go there?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:02:55):
I'm
sorry, help it.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (01:02:55):
Well
, I thought you were the one
that says I know, I know we hadto clean it up for this episode
so, anyway, he's the one whosaid I have to clean it up, I
have to clean it up and I havefailed.
It's true, yeah, you did fail, mission failed.
Uh, so we're at the 24 and oneof the the guys gives me.
He goes you know, I got someedibles, you want to try a
brownie?
And I'm like, well, yeah, Imean if it'll help me sleep
because I was worried about mylap.
My lap was at like nine o'clockat night and then it was like
in the nine in the morning, youknow, or whatever.
Yeah, I'm like I just don'twant to be trashed.
I'm sleeping in the back of myvan, you know.
(01:03:17):
And so, uh, he gives me thisbrownie.
You know, I eat the whole thingand uh, yeah, like damn this is
tasty, nobody could find melike uh yeah, I miss both my
laps.
I don't really remember whattime I got up, but yeah, I was
out, like I remember, trying topump up my air mattress in the
back of the van and it took meprobably 10 to 20 minutes to
(01:03:37):
read the packaging on the airpump that you just flip a switch
on, like I'm trying to figureout how to pump, like it's you
know what I'm talking about airmattress.
Yeah, I know, I'm livingvicariously free through you
buddy yeah, you buddy, I haven'thad marijuana in my system
since 1996.
, I couldn't figure out an airmattress pump, how to turn it on
, and I just slept on top of anempty air mattress.
It was bad.
(01:03:57):
Don't eat the whole brownie, that's for sure.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:04:01):
So
good, all right.
So your mustache is part ofyour vibe, it's part of your
vibe, it's part of your brand.
At this point and I went backand looked at some of your
previous you had a beard at onetime and you looked way
different.
So here's my like reallyserious question Does your wife
dig the mustache?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:04:20):
She
never really complained, like I
don't know.
Like it's on brand now it'sbeen here for so many years.
I can see the beard coming backat some point.
I feel like people would belike regular people on the
street would approach me more.
Like I definitely look like Ican't walk near schools with
this thing.
So like if I was to like bringthe beard back, I'd definitely
like be less weird in publicwith this thing.
Like it's pretty preposterous, like um, but people don't
(01:04:42):
realize it's part of the joke, you know like, but it's yeah,
it's gorgeous.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (01:04:46):
I
got a merchandise idea for you
and I honestly think this isgood.
I want to.
I'm picturing a t-shirt anycolor, and it's got a set of
aviators right the silhouette ofan aviator and the mustache,
and that's it.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:04:58):
And then
underneath it says baby, baby,
baby, oh yeah that's classic, right, it might actually be a
ted lasso shirt it's like we'rereally borderline close to each
other.
Dane "Suspension Guru" H (01:05:06):
That's
pretty close, yeah you might
pretty close.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:05:08):
Yeah,
you might be the same person.
We're not 100% sure.
Yeah, he doesn't have theaviators.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:05:12):
I tried
to work on my Ted Lasso
impersonation because I wasdoing a few videos as Ted Lasso,
yeah, and it's really likeSouthern positivity.
It's like I think you're doinggreat, you know you're doing all
right, you know it's so good.
It's like it's kind of like youknow All right, all right,
let's test.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:05:27):
Let's
test this.
Then you got to give amotivational speech and
everything.
Let's test this theory.
Okay, let's test your Ted Lassoimpersonation.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:05:33):
Oh, it's
not that good.
No, no, no.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:05:35):
So in
the character of Ted Lasso.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:05:37):
Yeah.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:05:38):
Answer
the next, this and that
questions.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:05:40):
Okay, go
watch an episode or something.
I haven't seen it in years.
I'm like I'm going to be realrusty.
It's just me applying asouthern accent and positivity
Southern accent positivityRiding in Cali or riding in Rado
.
As Ted Lasso.
(01:06:01):
Yeah, you got to pick one andtell me why.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:06:05):
He's
getting into ECU.
He even looks like him.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:06:08):
I got to
say I think riding in Colorado
is going to be the play.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:06:12):
Short
form or long form.
Short form Mustache waxed orunwaxed.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:06:20):
Unwaxed.
That's way too much work.
Can you believe it?
That's way too much work.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:06:24):
All
right Related and maybe better
bikini, waxed or unwaxed.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:06:31):
All
right, related and maybe better
Bikini, waxed or unwaxed.
Wait for who?
Me?
Yeah, I didn't specify.
Josh "Magellan" Anderso (01:06:37):
Unkempt
, unkempt Unwaxed.
I mean, is it trimmed?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:06:45):
He's a
1970s guy.
It's just the same thing here.
I mean, what are we talkingabout?
Look, the bottom line is think,uh, if we were to say
positivity and southern accent,we're getting pretty close now
and I think that when you've gotjust the wax, it just shows you
put way too much thought intoit, way too much work.
It's not spontaneous yeah, yeahhe doesn't mind getting hair in
his teeth, basically it's likeit's like the beard, like
anybody that comes in with areally eccentrically trimmed
(01:07:08):
beard and mustache.
I'm like you spend a lot oftime.
You obviously like care aboutyour looks.
Yeah, whereas like I didn'tcomb my hair for this, like I
didn't like my mustache is liketo me, I'm I'm happy in the
mountains like I.
I like I'll go up to everstokeand I'll be up there for days
and maybe even a week, and I'llrealize I haven't looked in a
mirror in a week, like you know, and you're like you come back
and you're like you come backhome.
You're like what the fuck youknow?
(01:07:28):
Like you're just like butthat's it, like that's what I
realized.
That's where I live now.
That's what kind of mymentality anymore.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:07:34):
I know
you like to.
I know you like to smoke meat.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:07:37):
Go ahead
, smoke meat, meat, smoke, yeah,
yeah, yeah.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:07:41):
Yeah.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:07:44):
Yeah,
this is a long discussion and
I'll do this in my voice, causelike brisket is truly
exceptional, but it's also avery large time commitment.
I mean, we're we're 15 hoursfor the smoke itself, with the
rest time.
You're looking at 18 hours.
If you're doing this right.
Wow, ribs are like, hey, comeover, I'll go get some ribs
(01:08:05):
right now and just come over fordinner and I'll have them ready
.
Like you could be spontaneouswith ribs, you cannot do that
with brisket, you've got.
You've got to just really wakeup early, get it rolling and
you're feeding the fire all daylong, cause I, you know, I think
I told you I have an offsetsmoker.
So thing weighs a thousandpounds.
I get oak sourced locally so Ichop it all up myself and then
(01:08:25):
I'd feed a fire for 15 hours.
You know, I'm keeping thatthing going and making sure that
it stays lit properly so youget good, clean smoke through
this thing.
So I love brisket and I love tohave people come over eat
brisket, but it's definitelylike I do it less than I do ribs
but, that doesn't mean I likeit less, like my option ribs.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:08:46):
Ribs
for your wife, brisket for your
girlfriend.
No, no, ribs for your wifeBrisket for your girlfriend.
No, no, ribs for your mistress, brisket for your wife.
But you know what?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:08:52):
Here's
the thing Like when people come
over like and I do a bigbarbecue, like, mind you, a big
barbecue and I do that, it'sprobably two briskets, it's
probably two pork butts and it'sprobably like six racks of ribs
.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (01:09:05):
So
it's a lot so it's a lot damn.
I need to go to you.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:09:07):
Got a
lot of friends, bro, yeah yeah,
so we bring, we bring everybodyover, and then we usually send
people home with leftovers, youknow like, because it's like,
hey, let's party, let's hang, let's hang out and then eat a
lot of food, and then I don't, Icook so much on that thing.
What do I need?
Like, I'll usually vacuum, sealsome and keep it in the freezer
.
Like I got a tri-tip and somepulled pork in there right now
that's just already been smokedand cooked and ready to go.
Oh nice, it's a good meal prep,right.
(01:09:29):
But like anytime I like it'sthe thing's massive.
So if you're gonna, if you'regonna, tend to that fire, why
not fill the whole thing up?
Yeah, right, why waste it?
And you can, and pork butt'scheap and ribs are cheap, you
know.
So everything you put in thereis cheap and it comes out
incredible.
So you might as well just loadit up and just like, have
leftovers either for us or forother people.
You need a smoker sponsor.
(01:09:50):
Yeah, lone star grills out oftexas, where I bought this one,
but like I don't put it in mycontent, so it wouldn't really
do them any advantage I don'tknow, but I'm I'm ready to go
get some ribs.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (01:09:58):
We
had brisket.
Yeah, we had brisket ribs fordinner.
Yeah, we did all right.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:10:02):
Uh,
this one might be a stretch,
okay.
Somehow, somewhere I heard thatyou were into like retro 80s
movies and I could be way off onthat, because your face tells
me you're wrong no, no, I mean Ilike all movies.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:10:15):
So I
mean I do definitely like like
80s movies.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:10:18):
So one
of these I'm fairly confident,
you're gonna know the other one.
I'm curious, okay rad.
Yeah, we're gleaming the cube.
Oh, gleaming the cube.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (01:10:27):
Oh
, gleaming the Cube.
Yes, I'm so happy.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:10:30):
I'm so
happy.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:10:33):
I
haven't seen it in a long time
but I know both those movies.
Yes, gleaming the Cubedefinitely.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:10:37):
All
right, final, this or that,
shammy or Commando, I don't wearShammy, I never wear Shammy.
Well, that's not what I asked.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:10:44):
I said
Shammy or Commando.
Oh, I guess I go commando, thenI have a taint of steel.
I don't know how you guys dothat man.
Yeah, taint of steel.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higg (01:10:53):
You
know, you just like every night
a little sandpaper, littlesandpaper, finish it off with a
grapefruit, and then you'reyou'll it'll be strong in a week
.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:11:30):
Yeah
Well, Joe, we absolutely love
your content it makes us laugh.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (01:11:31):
It
brings brevity to our sport.
I love comedy.
You do a great job.
You know there's haters, there's lovers, whatever.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:11:34):
But
like thank you, I just want to
say a couple of things and askyou a question of your videos,
make it, yeah, except for thatone, except for that one, yeah,
you know, as, as as a fan andfor our audience, that is, you
know, a good, good percentage ofour audience.
I'm sure fans, um, is thereanything that we and this is a
question that we did ask Jess, jess, so I'm going to break my,
my rule, okay.
Is there anything we can do asyour audience to help you.
Like, what can we do?
(01:11:56):
What can we do to help you?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:11:57):
Yeah,
First of all, I mean the whole
podcast could have just been youcomplimenting me and I'm a
little sad that it wasn't, butwe got through it.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (01:12:03):
We
got to leave you wanting, so
you come back, right, that's,that's what it is.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:12:10):
we're
just gonna let you know that
we're gonna yeah, next, nexttime it's gonna be like you
because we're bigger than you,and you're gonna be like hey,
can I come on the podcast?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:12:15):
yeah,
exactly 100.
I'll be there and you'll belike, no, not unless you pay us
and bring and bring brisket.
I know, I know no honestly, like man, there's nothing, any
but like just supporting andlike liking and commenting on
videos is honestly the biggestthing.
Like if I could, if I put out avideo and like there's not a
lot of comments within the firsthour or two, I know it's
probably not going to do greatand like my moral, you know,
(01:12:37):
flop for the day.
It's like ah, damn you know, Ididn't.
This one didn't work out.
Let's go to the next one.
Like, so you can already tell.
You can gauge it really easily.
But when people engage with itand relate to it and share it
and stuff, that's such avaluable thing, like I don't
know if people realize how muchthat matters.
Like, and this is why I try torespond to most comments in
videos and DMs.
Like, if you were to look at myInstagram thing, probably
(01:12:58):
thousands of people at thispoint.
But like, yeah, somebody sendsme a message and I try to
respond.
So I've always been good aboutthat and I don't really have any
way like to directly support me.
Like I work with n plus onebikes.
They're an incredible bike shop.
Sorry, uh, but that's okaypeople want to buy.
You know, if they go throughthere and they just tell them
that I sent them like, thathelps them and that helps me,
that a portion of that will goto me, which is nice, um, but I
(01:13:20):
don't really have any merchother than my gloves, which have
been on the market for a while.
They've been selling reallywell.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:13:24):
I just
don't promote them much anymore
but um, and your xl gloves aresold out because I tried to buy
a pair today, yep yep, so so getsome more, get some more xl
gloves in for me, buddy yeah, Ithought that was like when we
originally did that with trailmono.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:13:38):
It's
like I was like, oh, that's
gonna be like a limited run ofthings makes it more exclusive.
Because I told, like I made I'msure everybody knew it was a
limited edition and he just keptmaking them because we kept
selling out of them.
So I was like that was good forboth sides.
It was like it worked out great, it's been working out great.
But yeah, no, that's thebiggest thing.
Like I don't really ask much ofpeople other than just like
dude, I'm just stoked whenpeople enjoy it and so it's.
(01:13:59):
I selfishly do this for myself.
I like making the stuff and ifI have a funny idea that I think
is funny, I have fun putting ittogether and then, like putting
it out to the world is theafter effect to me, and I think
that's one of the reasons whyI'm still around and why Jess is
still around and stuff isbecause the process still is
enjoyable to me and I likeexecuting a funny idea in a
great way is like I take joy ofthat and I put it together.
(01:14:21):
I'm like nice and like, andthen I put it out.
I'm like, hopefully people likethis you know, and like the,
the wild West, one's a greatexample of that, Like it is
really ridiculous.
Like you know, mountain biketrack standoff and all this
stuff like it's ridiculous, butit was so fun to put together
and edit and all that stuff thatwhen I put it out it's like man
, hopefully it does well, but ifnot, I'm just.
It was.
It was a great experience.
I love it.
To me it is a hundred percentworth the effort.
(01:14:43):
It was great.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:14:45):
Well,
brother, thanks for spending an
hour with us here a little bitmore than an hour and if there's
anything we can do for you insouthern Arizona at all, please
let us know.
We're definitely glad to helpyou out.
Yeah, you got to shuttle anytime you come, you got to
shuttle any time you come, we'lltake you down to the Grand Rope
.
Yeah, I got to make it back out.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:15:03):
I'd love
to ride more lemon, because
there's definitely some stuff wemissed because the snow and all
that stuff and the weirdweather.
But yeah, if we can get backout there and do that and then
maybe this graham cracker thingor whatever you're talking about
, yeah, graham cracker, and thenlook up Red Ridge, red Ridge.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:15:15):
OK,
that's.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hi (01:15:16):
Mount
Lemon.
That's backside all the way out.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:15:22):
And it's
.
If I can get back out there andjust have them give us access
to old Tucson again, I wouldshoot another series of videos
out, like I'll just come back, just for that I'll tell you.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgin (01:15:28):
I
tell you what you know.
I mean always hit up, visittucson.
They're amazing and yeah, they've been great yeah you know
they, that's what they do andthey've done a great job.
We've seen a lot of people thatthey bring into town and just
let people know how awesometucson is.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:15:40):
Yeah,
man they were.
They were exceptional to dealwith through and through like
tremendous experience, greatplace to visit, obviously, and
ride and uh, the food scene wasobviously really good and, yeah,
everybody that was involvedwith visit tucson lee and dave
and all those guys weretremendous and yeah it was.
It was great like we you talkedabout with jess like us getting
to go out there and do the digday instead of a ride, where she
told you we were originallygonna do a group ride, yeah, and
(01:16:00):
we found out that it was a digday instead and we're like, all
right, let's just do that.
It's a better way to like getinvolved with the community and
it worked out great and theturnout turned great.
So it was like, yeah, that wasa fun way just to hang out with
everybody and that's kind ofwhat we wanted anyway.
So I think, like that we'realmost going to kind of like
work that into our scheme oflike when we pitch places like
hey, is there a way that we cando something to help give back
to the bike community whilewe're in town and stuff, and so
maybe that's like part of it,part of our trips when we do
(01:16:23):
these witness you doing a littlebit of work.
Actually big day I do watch allthe footage on my youtube.
You're gonna see how manythings I cut he's done a ton
jess is the one screwing off thewhole time, oh yeah jtm.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (01:16:36):
They
had him on the news in
sacramento about uh building anew uh trail and yeah, with
unprofessional kyle is thatright?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:16:43):
yep, yep
, I'm pro kyle was there.
Yep, yeah, it was awesomereally cool.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (01:16:46):
It
was crazy how the dirt was red,
like the drone shots were great, cause it was all this green
grass and then, they would cutinto the soil and it'd be red.
It was pretty awesome.
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:16:55):
Oh,
that's interesting.
Hey, man, you got any finalthoughts for our listeners?
Anything you want to throw outthere?
Any, any words of wisdom?
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:17:09):
nuggets
of man.
I I mean like, at the end ofthe day, is like I wish people
would stop worrying so muchabout what they think people
think of them and the littlethings in life and stressing out
over little things.
It's like, man, life is good, just, uh, just take a step back
and realize, like you know it'sit's not, that things aren't
that bad, like things aren'tthat hard.
It's like get outdoors, go rideyour bike.
Yeah, you'll clear your mind, you'll feel better.
And uh, yeah, so there's that, yeah, anyways.
(01:17:30):
Well, there you go, that's zenmaster words to live by zen
master, yeah but I mean, like Iguess I try to explain this to
my kids like if somebody's likethis is like a generalization
nobody's ever told my kids this.
But it's like if some kid atschool is telling you like, oh,
you got big ears, like why wouldyou get all worked up about
that?
Like, do you have big ears?
Big ears, no, then what are youworked up about?
Like you just like why peopleworry about these things that
(01:17:52):
happen, the things say arehappening in their life, and
it's like, yeah, it's not a bigdeal though.
Like just don't.
Like, don't worry about it,just keep moving forward.
Dane "Suspension Guru" Hig (01:17:59):
Just
go ride your bike.
Calirado Kid (aka CRK) (01:18:22):
Go ride.
Thanks a lot, brother.
Yeah, can you dig it?
Josh "Magellan" Anderson (01:18:24):
Can
you dig it, can you dig?
Dane "Suspension Guru" Higgi (01:18:28):
it
.
Can you dig it?
