Elouan leaves the safety and sanctuary of his mystery school temple to embark upon the mission of finding his lost father. Although warned about the darkness of the outside world (especially with recent events that have occurred in the Far East) he takes to the task with joy. His positive outlook is put to the test when he encounters the environment and lifestyle of 14th century urban living, as well as the arrival of a trading ship where the crew exhibits signs of a grave illness.
Meanwhile, Rachel – the daughter of a merchant cobbler – discovers that being the muse of a rich nobleman’s son is not all that it’s cracked up to be.
