Black Maternal Health Disparities
The alarming rate of pregnancy-related deaths and complications among black women in the U.S. exposes the grave disparities in the maternal healthcare system. This stark inequality, primarily attributed to systemic racism and bias, necessitates urgent intervention. Education, awareness, and open conversations form the bedrock of reducing these disparities, empowering black women to seek appropriate care and advocate for themselves.

Toni Taylor, co-founder of Chicago Birthworks, is dedicated to providing support and safety for moms during childbirth, whether at home or in a hospital. Tynece Allen, a passionate doula and student midwife, brings a wealth of experience in advocating for women during labor. Dr. Kendra Outler and Dr. Sameena Rahman, with their expertise in maternal health care, offer valuable insights into reducing disparities in black maternal health. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our discussion on black maternal health disparities, shedding light on crucial issues and advocating for positive change.
