Jake Smith is a whirlwind of ambition, creativity, and resilience—a self-proclaimed “Jake of all trades” with a passion for blending beauty and business in the most authentic way possible. Growing up in the conservative town of Truro, Jake first dabbled in makeup privately, wondering if he’d ever get to reveal his true self. Fast forward to Halifax, and he’s now in a community that embraces him, where he empowers others—especially queer entrepreneurs—to find their own voices and show up authentically. 

Through his brand, Beauty and Business by Jake, he’s on a mission to help small businesses and marginalized voices shine. From social media strategy and consulting to makeup artistry and inclusive networking events, Jake’s work is fueled by the power of connection and the impact that authenticity can bring. It's been a transformative journey for him, one that’s allowed him to overcome challenges, build meaningful relationships, and inspire others to embrace their true selves.

For years, he’s soaked up lessons from books, mentors, and every connection he’s made. Now, as Operations Manager at 9 Mile Business Centre, a part-time legal assistant, and the founder of his own brand, he’s bringing those lessons to life—helping others thrive while living his own truth. People often call him a “Jack of all trades,” but he’s quick to correct them: it’s “Jake of all trades.” When he’s not knee-deep in business, you’ll find him experimenting with makeup, having deep conversations, dancing to a pop playlist, or sipping a cheap glass of wine on the dance floor. 

From business books to glitter, Jake loves to do it all—quirky, weird, and unapologetically authentic.
