Speaker 1 (00:02):
Now what's next?
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Next up? It's next up, the next step, take the
next step, next.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Up, stup, next, next up.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
This team wants to be next.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
This is next up with Tad Norfleeten Chris Gordy.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
Let's see what's next next next?
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Feeling good?
Speaker 5 (00:24):
Feeling great? That means it's a Friday. We must be
live from the Sports Talk seven ninety studios Nelton in
between Uptown Park and river Oaks for the next two hours.
The show was next Up. If you new to the station,
new to the show, or returning, we appreciate that and
welcome next two hour. We should be fun thanks to
the Shawn Salisbury Show, who we had a very uncomfortable
(00:44):
conversation transitioning guy to here. White frat parties versus black
frat parties. I don't know what to do with that.
You know, Brian Delma, he's been to a frat party
or two in his day. He's a baseball fiicionado on
the Shawn Safer Show. What you don't got some connotation there?
What was that? Stop being sensitive? We were bringing the
conversation to the airwaves. And yeah, of course it's Friday.
(01:07):
We're nestled in between up. Jell Barkervolkes. Gordie is on
the Access Appreciate CG. There's Connor in his seat. Sean
Salisbury teams up with Brian the Lima for the Sean
Salisbury Show and Manual represent Praiview A and M. We
were talking about his homecoming. I left praiview this morning
at like midnight. It has already begun. The RVs are
lined up. My first time doing Preierview A and M's homecoming.
(01:30):
We'll see what that's about. Speaking of a homecoming, the
Texans couldn't be more happy than to being the comfortable
confines of n RG. As the Coats bust up in
this joint. Did I see that correctly? The Coats won
FO in a row or something crazy for the last
five something like that. I pull that up here in
just a little bit. Texan is still a five point
favorite AFC South supremacy on the line as C. J.
(01:55):
Strout and as well, let's Joe mix it. Can they
get up off the map? Bobby Sloyd was asked about
his play calling. I have taken Bobby Sloyd to task.
Some of you are uncomfortable. Some of you applaud the
way that I respectfully dissected, where the Texans offense finds itself,
who's in and who's out. At least as we head
(02:17):
into a Thursday practice. The injury report came out yesterday afternoon.
We must get there. Speaking of Texans, our brother Jonathan
m Alexander of the Houston Chronicle will join us at
eleven Rockets in action tonight game two. Whatever the bleep
that was surrendering an eighteen point lead at one point
during that game On Wednesday night to open the season,
the Memphis Grizzlies are in the house, John Morant and others.
(02:41):
I'll be over there at the TC because I like
going over to the TC to see what's happening. Mama
fleets in toown. She's gonna pull up here in the
studio in a little bit, La Lima, you'll be gone
doing something, whatever it.
Speaker 6 (02:51):
Is you do.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
On Friday. We'll take phone calls as we start with
Texans seven one, three, two, two, five, seven ninety oh.
Couple things that I left off about. Kamala Harrison's in town.
She's going to address the nation. I think she's over
rad George R. Brown. I think that's from like three
to eight this afternoon so the traffic with the game
being there, and of course Beyonce has been added to
(03:14):
that ticket. I was gonna get to that. Thank you,
l Lima. Since you want to do overtime on a Friday,
all right, so let's bring in Gordy.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
Also it's a Friday. Yeah, win nestled in between uptown
Parker Revolts also gave one of the World Series tonight.
I will be streaming that on the phone while I'm
at Toyota Son and Monica's just gonna have to figure
it out. I don't know how much attention she's gonna
get from me tonight, all right. See GEZ Week eight
in the NFL Underway. Last night, Minnesota Vikings go down.
(03:46):
Vikings who started out five and oh get smacked around
at the hands of Pooking the Cool and who else
was out there? Pooking the Coup and Cooper Cup And yeah,
I saw some dudes running around.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Who is that?
Speaker 5 (04:00):
I was about to say, Sam Brafford, but that's not
who that is. Wyck up. What's his name? Sam Matthew Stafford.
That's why I'm trying to say. I can't get him out.
He had the rams looking good as the Rams upset
the Minnesota Vikings, and so Minnesota is not looking as
uh titanious as they were not too long ago. Thirty
(04:22):
to twenty Rams, now three and four in a year
of Vikings dropped to five and two and consecutive losses.
Go ahead, going it.
Speaker 7 (04:30):
This is what you love about the NFL is that
anything can change on a dime. I mean, you know,
two weeks ago they were plugging the you know, like
the oddsmakers. So we're plugging the Vikings into the super Bowl.
You know, it's the the NFC champs, you know, right there,
and all of a sudden, you go from five and
zero to one loss. Now two losses in a row,
don't make it three losses in a row, because then
(04:51):
you really start slipping. And so yeah, this is why
you know, with the Texans said a five and two's
that's why I said, like, all right, you have the
tough loss of Greenbell last week, you got to clear
the slate and you got to come out and play
one of your best games of the season this week,
and gets the Colts like, you can't afford to slip
up here because then it's a short week on the
road to the Jets.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
It could be a third straight loss.
Speaker 7 (05:12):
So I mean, like that's where the NFL will get
you if you get caught slipping.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Like you got to bring it every week.
Speaker 7 (05:17):
And so yeah, this is an important game for the
Texans because there's a big difference between sitting here and
saying they're six and two versus five and.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
Three, No doubt about it. I concur what you had
to say. I just want to remind people, Oh my god,
Sam Donald, MVP candidate Sam Donald QBR fifty eight and
a half out of one hundred. That's fifteenth International Football League.
My my mind, how a couple of weeks can change things.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Still, his numbers weren't back.
Speaker 7 (05:45):
I mean eighteen to twenty five for two forty two
touchdowns and interceptions.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
I mean he played decently. Their defense played terrible.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
QBR fifteenth of starting quarterbacks in the NFL. I'll just
leave that right there. Justin, Jefferson's a grown mand we
know your place.
Speaker 7 (06:00):
He plays, he plays good, he played good enough. Justin,
him and Jefferson were not the problem yesterday. Put it
that way. The problem was you gave up thirty points
and four touchdowns at almost three hundred yards to Matthew Stafford,
that big bad Vikings defense.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
That was the problem was how about Matthew Stafford had
an interception as well? Four touts for Stafford. We know
how CJ loves and idolizes Sir Matthew Stafford, pooking the
cop quietly coming off the injured list, if you will
injured reserve and there's I don't know if he was
officially placed. I know he missed some games. Nonetheless, hooking
the core seven, No, he was seven receptions for a
(06:34):
bucko six is the big point there, all right? So
Week eight in the NFL Underway, Minnesota sitting in the
second place in the NFC nor behind the Detroit Lions,
who the Texans will face later this season. There's Detroit
game November ten, all right, So quickly approach him and
let me add something as we unpack, Gordie, and I
(06:55):
appreciate you doing so. This Coats game. We will have
addictions in the eleven o'clock hour. Not only is this
game important from an AFC standpoint in terms of the
South and the standings, which is critical, right, that's number
one priority, but I remind you the Texans got to
turn around and play on the road again on Thursday,
(07:15):
so it would behoove the Texans. Let's play your best ball.
Let's get this dub Let's get some rest because we
got to get on the airplane and go over to
New York and deal with Aaron Rodgers, Davontae Adams, Breese Hall,
Garrett Wilson and others. Right, so let's take care of
business here, and that's where we start. Gordon, I wanted
to hear many of you wanted to know how would
(07:38):
offensive coordinator for the Texans, Bobby Sloyd respond to whatever
that was the final drive leading to a field goal,
still putting the Texans in the league. Gordy, you have
harked on that in Green Bay a week ago, prior
to the defense aligning them to go whatever it was,
forty five to fifty five yards and kick the game,
winn the field goal? All right, Bobby saw it? What
(07:58):
was that at the end of the game, Connor, I
lean on you, and then we also got to ask
him about the pass pro let me here is this
slowed five on the third and fifteen. Let me hear
slowk on this.
Speaker 8 (08:14):
Deal here, Let's play called stinks, you know, like the
players kind of got to save me here and that
happens sometimes and sometimes you get the opposite. Sometimes it's
end the game against Tampa Bay last year and I
called play with really one option and they play the
coverage I'm hoping for and we score a touchdown, you know.
So it's some give and take right there. And that's why,
like in the NFL, it's so hard when you get
(08:36):
in situations like that. I always look at what led
to that situation, because really, I mean, if we're in
thirty eight, if we're in thirty seven, I think all
of us on offense feel very strongly we're in a
good position right there.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
All right, Gordy Bobby Slock saying, hey, look they got
us with the coverage. There was only one option for CJ.
So that question has been answered, and look made a play,
bad call by him. Now I will come to slow.
It's defense, and Gordy, I don't know if you've seen this,
but there's video out there on social let me see
if I can quickly give the appropriate people credit. But
(09:13):
Tank Dale's first touchdown as an NFL player last year,
it was the same play. I can't I'm trying to
remember who it was against, and I don't have it
right now. But nonetheless, it was the same play, and
this time CJ throws the ball where Tank can pivot inbounds,
He makes a defender miss and he skid outos for
whatever it was twenty some yards for Tank Dale's first
(09:36):
touchdown that didn't happen here. Now, the fact that the
route had previously been successful, Gordy, doesn't change how I
feel about the situation. I still don't believe they were
on the same page in that drive and most certainly
on that play. Call call it better play, Bobby Demiko,
you got a veto that madness. That's why you wear
(09:56):
the big head, said Gordy, coming on what you heard
from slow dand then we'll go to break.
Speaker 7 (10:01):
Yeah. Look, you know I've been saying it all week.
I mean, we can harp on the offense coordinator. You
gotta call better plays. If my old line can't block
and protect and give my quarterback time, it doesn't matter
what I called, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
He just players can bail you out. I think if
you ask most guys that have played this game, they'll
tell you. And really, in any team sport, sometimes coaches
call stuff and just really good dudes either have to
abort mission or they've got to quite Franklin, as Bobby said,
saved the coach from himself on that particular play. And
I'm sorry to interrupt. That didn't happen finish a point? Please?
Speaker 7 (10:38):
Yeah, well, I mean why didn't take Te'll catch it?
By the way, his first touchdown last year was against
the Colts, so.
Speaker 5 (10:43):
That must have been. Yeah, that must have been what
it was that So whatever that touchdown was, if you
go look at that play and it's out there on
social media, it's the exact route that Bobby called. Again,
it wasn't executed the way it should be, all right.
I want to hear more from Bobby Slow like injury
report is also out, and I heard something from one
(11:03):
of the pundits here locally on the Texans and I
have harped on this and I believe it's the key
to victory. I will tease by saying this, c J.
Stroud is not the most valuable player on this team,
at least not this year. We'll talk more and explain
on the other side. Sports Talk seven ninety on a Friday,
Fleet Gordon Common, the legendary KB.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
And Me with Yourn. Next up pictures tremble with fear.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
You run over us Otho, comfrete.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Run over with Northfleet and Gordion. Next up, Bellies, tremble
with hunger. Lunchtime is so close.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Until then shower down on more.
Speaker 8 (11:43):
Next up, starting point is man, that's a that's a
pretty that's a bad call, right, so we go into
it thinking hopefully we get inside leverage or off corner,
you know, like, really what they' should in similar situations
is three guys across the end zone, off corner, inside
(12:04):
leverage on Tank gave him a route he scored on
last year, really the same part of the field, and
then instead we got outside leverage press, which is hard, Like,
that's not what the routes for.
Speaker 9 (12:16):
They doubled Steph.
Speaker 8 (12:17):
So really for the quarterback, you gotta get all the
way to the backside answers, which would have been good
on that play, but he's already been hit twelve times,
you know he's not that. It's everything trickles down.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowyck again add more clarity, whatever the
hell that was on third down? He said they doubled
Steph Diggs. There was only one place to go with
the football. Did you hear that part of the end
where he also said, look, I gotta be careful. I paraphrase.
You just heard it. He said, CJ's being hit, Gordy.
He's admitting what I've been saying and what the numbers
(12:54):
tell us is accurate. CJ getting knocked around is impacting
the play calling. So to your point, and how you
open the show the tech, it doesn't matter if Nico
or Joe plays, or if Dalton shows gets his head
out of his butt. It doesn't matter if that old
line doesn't protect better. Bobby Slought can't be hero and
(13:17):
him talking about being a head coaching candidate. We gotta
press pause on that for a little while. Let's see
how the rest of the season plays out. So I'm
ready to put the bed. What the Green Bay game,
I've been really on with that, But we were all
waiting to hear from Sloyd Gordon. Did you see anything
reported from Aaron Wilson or anybody else? Jm Alexander. Did
(13:38):
you see anything or hear anything else from Bobby that
stood out to you?
Speaker 1 (13:44):
No? Not really. I mean again, to your point, he's
letting it be known.
Speaker 7 (13:48):
And that's the thing like when you got atter, when
you got a.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Young old line.
Speaker 7 (13:51):
You can you can, you can call them out and say,
you know, we gotta do better there and all this
when you got a veteran O line.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
I don't know if you need to do that publicly.
Speaker 7 (14:01):
Like I think these guys get it, you know, like
Tunsel knows he's got to do better, Shack Mason, Titus Hour.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
These guys know they got to do better.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
Now.
Speaker 7 (14:09):
The question is if they struggle again this week and
the twists and all that are getting home, and you know,
and we got another four sac performers from CJ Stroud,
then what do you do? I think then Demiko's gotta
start sending a message, hey, jobs are up for grabs.
I can't we can't just do this. It's a it's
a problem. The on line is a weakness right now,
(14:30):
and it is.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
No I'm agreeing with you. My issue with is, like
I hear people, including the team, are we doing right sometimes?
Speaker 8 (14:41):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (14:41):
And you just said it yourself. Well, if it happens
again this week, we're going into week eight. We have
seven weeks worth of evidence that there's a problem here.
So I'm not understanding why we're having to wait till
week eight, and then all of a sudden, it's going
to self correct now again. We you and I will
both have our predictions throughout the course of the program,
(15:03):
will buy programs in it just and you know what,
Betty yet, Bobby Slowan, you can't protect your damn quarterback.
Nothing happens until you do. What is going on with
pass pro let me hear from slowk He was asked
about that yesterday, and I would.
Speaker 8 (15:16):
Say our past game in general struggled. You know, I
didn't do a good job with the game plan in
that regard. I don't think we went and executed well
and really any regard across the board. I think our
quarterback made a few special plays to keep us going
in the past game, but we were not throwing the
ball well. I mean we averaged two point two a
throw or something like that. I mean, you can't, you can't,
(15:38):
you know, for us in our standard, we know that's
not good enough. And it's been good for us to
have some hard conversations about that and look forward to
getting better this week. And you know, we got a
new game that we get to go attack.
Speaker 5 (15:49):
Yeah, speaking of attack, Bobby, everybody's asking why the hell
aren't we throwing the ball downfield, whether nicos in the
game or not. Tank Dale made a living any killing
off of this a year ago. What's going on with
the lack of downfield throws? Bobby Sloyd?
Speaker 9 (16:03):
When your quarterback starts to get hit, Oh, what you're
gonna do?
Speaker 5 (16:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (16:06):
Yeah, So we stopped doing some of them.
Speaker 8 (16:08):
We hit Dalton on a seven step early in the
game on an explosive and then I think CJ got
smacked like three times in a row.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Smacked.
Speaker 9 (16:15):
Yeah, we saw if you still.
Speaker 8 (16:17):
Want to have a pass game, you got to find
a way to still move forward and not backward.
Speaker 9 (16:21):
And you know that's that's his train to do that.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
Gordy the most valuable. With that being said, CJ is
the most valuable asset this organization offers. Bobby is literally
telling us, and I commend him for his transparency my
play calling, we might as well crumble up, try and
(16:45):
find something to crumble up in the studio. We might
as well. This is Bobby Sloyd's James playing coming into
the season, because we can't protect the way I thought
we would stand. So Bobby Sloyd, Gordy is trying not
to call out the old line he's taking accountability that
it's to him. It's got to be better. The quarterback
is trying to protect his people. Okay, Bobby, they can't
(17:07):
protect what's your answer going to be? So we we
know the problem, you know how I am, Gordy. I
spend less time bitching about the problem. I'm all about
providing solutions. Gordy, off of Bobby sloan a solution and
you to the public listening seven three two five seven
ninety friends, family, we gotta help Bobby. What's he gonna
(17:29):
do here? What do you expect the offense will look
like on Sunday, Gordon?
Speaker 7 (17:35):
Uh, I mean I expect they're gonna they're gonna protect
better again. I mean, look, Green Bay, you were on
the road at Lambeau. I expect they're gonna they're gonna play.
They're gonna protect better against those Colts front.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
They just have to. They're at home.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
You know you said they have to. Uh, no doubt.
The Texans clearly played better at home. I've been on
that and I'm gonna continue to be on that and
to be until Demico shows me something different. I would
presume it should look better. But they were at home
when they played the Bears. The Bears pressure the hell
(18:09):
out of CJ. Buffalo brought pressure at times. So we've
seen teams get after them at home too, and then
the Texans have been able to overcome it. Now I
tease this and I'll carry it over into the next segment.
I know you may have to dip out on this
a little bit, but Gord, I want to ask Nicocollins
(18:29):
has been a flat out problem for the Indianapolis Colts.
I'm looking at his splits here. Excuse me. Nico Collins
has a catch percentage of nearly seventy eight percent, among
the highest of teams. He's played multiple times. Obviously he's
paid played the Colts and the Jaguars more because they're
(18:51):
in the division. But Nico not being on the field
the second time, now that Gus Bradley has seen CJ.
Stroup season, we know the two times last season. Do
you feel like the Colts will borrow from the playbook
and the simulated pressures and the flat out blitz is
that less talented defenses and some more have employed. Do
(19:14):
you think it'll be more of the same.
Speaker 7 (19:18):
More of the same from what the Colts do, or
more of the same from what the Texans do.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
What the Colts do. Do you anticipate c J. Stroud
will be under pressure based on what's being dialed up
by Gus Bradley.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
See, it's hard. It's hard to judge that.
Speaker 7 (19:31):
Like, I gotta go more on what I saw week
one when these two teams played as like, I can't
go with what the Colts have been doing the last
couple of weeks because like they play the Titans and
the Dolphins without Tua. Like, so, yeah, they held Tennessee
to seventeen points, they held Miami to ten.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
It looks like your defense is thriving.
Speaker 7 (19:50):
But I also got to say, you played two really
really weak offenses.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
So I'm going to say, yes, we will see c J.
Stroud get pressured, like the Texans have told the rest
of the league memo, we can't protect. So however, schematically,
whatever Gus Bradley's pressure package look like, it's going to
look much different than Sean mcdermot's. It's probably going to
look much different than Brian Flores. They're going to bring pressure.
(20:20):
It's going to be a problem until the Texans demonstrate
that it's not. We know that the Colts have proven
to have adequate defenders to make this thing an issue
with Nico Collins not being on the field. And I
don't know about y'all, but I just heard the offensive
coordinator whose playbook has now shrunk. Listen to the man,
(20:41):
he does not have the confidence to call the same
plays that he was calling a year ago. So they've
got to do something different. All of that stuff they
did during training camp, I would say a healthy portion
of it. I'm gonna just put an arbitrary number on it, Gordon.
I'm guessing half the playbook they can't use right now.
So this is where I think that's a lot. I
(21:02):
think they get back to doing what they want to
do this week, which is.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Which is being a balance football team.
Speaker 7 (21:09):
I mean, look, we know they're gonna run the football
with Joe Mix and they did it effectively against this
team in Week one. But see, you had a decent
passing game in week one, So I think they get back.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
To looking like that.
Speaker 7 (21:19):
I think we're just what we need to admit is
the Packers were really good, and you play that and
you did.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
That same thing with Minnesota. You did the same thing
with Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Hostavarman.
Speaker 5 (21:31):
The Bears game was a six point game with two
minutes and fifty one seconds remaining in regulation with Caleb
Williams and his second start. The Patriots game was fourteen
to seven at the half, granted on the road.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
So I'm like, we.
Speaker 5 (21:50):
Gotta get out of this. Oh, it's just when they
play good teams. It looks like that more often than
not for me. And I can't tell you what to
believe of what to say, Gordon, but for me, as
we get ready to go to break, cg I'll ask
you your thought on the way to break. To me,
they've gone how they pivoted last year in terms of
how they went from last year. Hey, we're gonna start
(22:10):
attacking the ball downfield. They're gonna have to pivot this time.
They got to change what they do for the time being.
We'll see what happened when Nico get back and if
this offense line can get better. All right, Gord, I
know you gotta step away, But something for the people
before we pivot.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
Yeah, if you've been thinking about selling or trading your vehicle,
you need to go check out our friends of a

Speaker 2 (23:22):
When Fleet speaks, Houston listens.
Speaker 6 (23:26):
Yes, I have a great shot at already a huge brant.
Speaker 10 (23:28):
I'm liking your stuff.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Stanton or Fleet ten Chris Gordy are next on Sports
Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 11 (23:39):
I'll say probably like sixty forty, you know, sixty per
trying to move on and you know, realizing this is
another another great challenge, another good team to play on
in the NFL, you know, so and then again, you
know you look back and you know, just really look
at the philosophy of you know, guys Bradley, who is
I think is a good a great coordinator, and you know,
they got a lot of great defense. You know, I
(24:00):
think are getting buck back, and you know it's a
huge piece to them. And you know, Kenny's playing really high.
You know, it's our here's playing great. So you know,
there's a lot of respect for those guys over there.
But you know, at the same time, you know, I'm
not gonna harp on the past, but at the same time,
you know, I understand that those are some good players.
We got to be able to be on our a
game to come out with a win.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
That's white of them. What's filling Welcome back to next
up here on a Friday. Half an hour into a
Friday segment or a Friday edition, I should say, we'll
get ready to wrap up the final segment of this album,
we'll talk a little bit about the Rockets welcoming into
Memphis Grizzlies with Jackson Gatland locked on Rockets Pod. That'll
be coming up in about thirteen minutes or so. Excuse me,
(24:42):
Gordy had to handle something so Connor and now take
this segment. We'll also hear from you. We'll take our
Frost Carl first call. Excuse me, Johnny on the north
side of the city seven one, three, two two five,
seven ninety coming to you here in just a little bit.
That was c. J. Strouss saying, look sixty forty and
trying to learn from the Green Bay Eras and I
would have them sixty percent in looking forward to And
that was, you know, with a couple of days to
(25:04):
go in preparation this week, let's get ready for the Colts.
Some of you, and I heard Gordy said, some of
you are hell being on what happened in week one.
Go look around the league we just talked about. Minnesota
took their second loss last night. Minnesota looked different in
(25:24):
week one than they've looked the last two weeks. Hell,
the Baltimore Ravens were zero and two to start the season.
How do they look the last time you saw Dad
renn and running down the sideline for seventy yards whatever
it was. How did the Texans look week one? How
did they look last week? This is a week to
week league. So for those of you that are trying
(25:46):
to predict what's going to happen, and I'll do the
same with a score here in just a little bit,
we know what happened in week one. Steph Diggs two
tous book up, Nico Collins over one hundred yards. Dunk
on you, Joe Mixon, how about you handle your business?
AFC Offensive place of the week CJ Stroud just driving,
mastering the perfect the simple. I should say perfecting the simple.
(26:11):
That's not who they are anymore. I don't need to
see I don't need an eighth game for SLOWK and
CJ to tell me. And you know what, I don't
know that I've said it this way, so I'm gonna
say it because I know a lot of you feel
that way. If you don't, what if you do? You
can hit me up at stand sportsman. This offensive line
is not good. They are highly compensated individually, they are
(26:36):
accomplished collectively. They have not performed up to snuff, and
I'm not afraid to say that. Nor am I afraid
to hold the offensive coordinator and ultimately the head coach
responsible for it. There's nothing wrong with saying that. It
ain't nothing personal. I ain't got nothing against the org.
(26:58):
I'm decked out in Texas gives, so is Connor. I'm
taking my mother and her girlfriend, Miss Kim, to the game.
Monica's joining us on Sunday, paid money to go do it.
I support that organization, but Bobby's got to be real
with us. But more importantly, he's got to be real
with himself. Last year doesn't matter, Week one doesn't matter.
(27:25):
You can't protect right now. How are you going to
move the ball without getting your quarterback smacked? You use
the term smack, Bobby, were all watching the games. It's
not just gonna magically get better. I read this, though
I didn't read this thing. I saw this post on
social media. Many of you listening have small kids. I'm
helping raise a three year old, and we're in that
(27:45):
phase now where everything is no and there are some
parents that believe you just let them grow out of it.
I'm listening to psychologists and some of the doctors that
specialize in children and what you're supposed to do and
what's going through their brains in these formative years and
all that, and they all say, no, no, no, no,
(28:07):
you must instill habits at that age. Now, I get it.
That's a child, that's a baby. I'm talking about football.
I hope you understand the parallel and the metaphor like
it ain't just going to improve itself. Bobby better morph
display calling into something else. He just told you I
can't throw the ball down the field right now. Now,
(28:30):
maybe they do that better versus the Colts, and then
they do it better versus the Jets, and in two
weeks from now, I won't have to say these things.
But I'm going to speak the truth until something changes. Now,
what Bobby it better do if it were me. Okay, guys,
we can't pass block, so we're going to minimize how
(28:52):
many times we do that. What we can do is
hand this ball off to Joe Mixon, who when he
starts and finishes a game, more often than not, we win.
But he also gives us the best chance to win.
The Texans are two and one when Joe Mixon starts
and finishes a game he has one hundred yards over
one hundred yards in all three of those games, and
(29:15):
he's average. Last week, he still had four point six
yards of carre. Joe Mixon is now the most valuable
player on that team. I'm gonna repeat that because some
of you're gonna push back, and I'm okay with that.
Joe Mixon, not CJ. Stroud, is the most valuable player
on the team, because if Joe doesn't go for a
(29:36):
hundred and Nico can't catch the ball, and CJ's getting
smacked around, and you don't get separation by your wide
receivers Tankdale and Nico Collins, who had like one point
three and one point six yards of separation per route
run last week, and that's not good. You can't score.
(29:57):
So you better start with this Joe Mixon thing, and
then Bob, you got to figure out the rest so
offensive line. You can't pass block. Since we started playing
this game as kiddos, the nature of this game is
to push another man in a direction he doesn't want
to go. Now. Is there more nuanced and intricacy to
doing that? Yes, But I don't want to hear crowd
(30:19):
noise this week, meaning I don't want to hear that
as an excuse. You've had an adequate amount of practice
time to go get it together. Hand signals, silence, snap count.
I told you, I don't give a damn if Paul
Wall and Mike Johnes go put some people in the
stadium and perform a bleeping concert. If you got to
get on the same page and prepare for crowd noise,
it's the National Bleeping League. Less talented offensive lines don't
(30:42):
have to deal with this in this league. But everybody
can run block if you want to. Joe Mixon most
valuable player on offense over there right now. With that
offensive line playing like that and without Nico Collins, all
due respect to one cjstre out Johnny on the north
side of the city, welcome man, close us out for
(31:03):
this segment.
Speaker 6 (31:04):
Yeah, I mean the offensive line has been terrible. I
mean there's some guys on that old line. It should
have been benched a long time ago, including tunsl which
isn't gonna be benched because of the contract. But you
put that on the GM just as much as the
coach because he's the one that contracted them and hired
them to be put there. I mean, the fact of
the matter is CG needs to get the ball out
of his hand, quicker, But they're not running routes. I mean,
(31:25):
when you want balance, you can't. You don't balance it
just with oh I'm throwing and running is where you're
throwing the ball and down the field. Obviously they don't
have time to do that. But where's all the plays
in the middle of the field when you get the
opposing linebackers to pull back there playing round up front
because they know we're not thrown in the middle of
the field. Tank should be running routes into the middle, Edelman.
(31:48):
We should be using our tight end more to bring
up to the Patriots. But you know, you know how
Gronk was used. But you know CJ has the accuracy
to throw in the middle with why aren't he Why
isn't he getting the rid of the ball in the
middle to those spaces they're not calling them. It just
doesn't even make any sense why they're not doing anything
(32:10):
in the middle of the field in the opposing defenses,
even at wide open, you know what I mean, It's
just crazy. But that's why as Mixing is able to
get through the middle and go up in the middle of
there's no one there, so it gives them more running room.
But we should be throwing more in the middle and
get the ball out of CJ's hands a lot quicker,
(32:31):
My man.
Speaker 5 (32:31):
Johnny in North Houston appreciate the sentiment. Yes, you do
need to get the ball out, But Slowyck has got
a design both blocking schemes and route combinations off of
Joe Mixon's run game to be able to do that. Now,
does he have the confidence in the personnel to be
able to do those things? Slow it you get paid
(32:55):
to figure it out, my boy. And it's not just
slowd by himself. It's Chris chrausse A, the offensive line coaches,
Bill Gerard Johnson. I mean, there's a staff collectively, there's
enough experience and enough talent over there figure it out.
They've got to pivot off what the plan was last year. Well,
who throw the ball around c J. Stroud. That's not
gonna work and it's gonna get your quarterback hurt. All right,
(33:17):
So let's do this. We'll see what happens. Excuse me,
Johnshy and Alexander the Houston Chronicles is gonna drop by
at eleven am. I've asked Jack Jackson, Gatling of locked
on Rockets Pod. I want to squeeze in some NBA
talk here real quick. Rockets in action tonight Game two
over the Toyota Center. We come back on their side.
Homer Rockets Basketball, kbm ME.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
This is next time stuff with stand Northfleet and Chris Gordy.
Speaker 7 (33:41):
During this next stage on Sports.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (33:45):
All right, let's wrap up our one here on a
Friday in the gallery area. All we appreciate everybody has
us preset number one on the audio down. Whether you're
in the whip. You can also get us on the
free iHeart radio app. Also sports dot com is where
you can catch blogs and interviews like the one. We're
getting ready to have. Rockets Game two of the twenty
(34:07):
four to twenty five season will get underway tonight at
the Toyota Center seven pm. I'll be in the building.
We'll do first tip. So joining us now a man
that is not a stranger to these parts one Jackson Gatlin,
locked on Rockets Pot, Locked on NBA. Good morning to you, Jackson.
It's that time of year again. JG. How you feel,
(34:28):
my guy?
Speaker 3 (34:30):
It is that wonderful time of year. I'd just feel
a little bit better if the Rockets hadn't fallen on
their face in Game one against the Charlotte Hornets. But
it's still gonna be a good season for this Houston
Rocket team.
Speaker 5 (34:40):
I would agree, would agree, all right, tonight's upoint it? Well,
you know what before we get there, excuse me Wednesday night,
just an overall thought from you. Obviously the collapse there
in the second half and LaMelo ball in the fourth quarter.
I believe it was Fred van Vliet that said they
looked and felt disjointed. A thought from you on what
(35:04):
happened in surrendering an eighteen point lead, and is that
something you think that might be recurring moving forward?
Speaker 3 (35:10):
I don't think it's I will let me rephrase. I
hope it's not for men's recurring moving forward. One of
the tough things for young teams to learn how to do,
right is they they this team is clearly talented. They
got the eighteen point lead, they built it up. But
one of those things that good teams learn how to
do is how.
Speaker 12 (35:25):
To maintain those big leads right.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
Keep the foot on the gas pedal all the way
to the finish line, or at least all the way
until the other team waves the white flag and puts
in the third stringers. So for me, it came down
to a couple key different things. You know, the rebounding
was a big issue, especially late in the game once
the Hornets caught back up. They gave up so many
key offensive rebounds, giving second and third opportunities to the Hornets.
(35:47):
They had good they had plenty of good defensive possessions.
They played well enough defensively to win that game.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
The other part of it.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
To me though, was that the offense did feel kind
of disjointed, and some of that was just shots not
going in, but some of that was also you need
a little bit better involvement from or I guess your
star players need to do a better job of involving
the other guys on the roster, and that falls squarely
on the shoulders of Alpha and Shingoon and Jalen Green.
They both need to do a better job of creating
(36:16):
for their teammates. We know that they can get theirs
pretty much whenever they want. They need to do a
much better job involving their teammates in the offense so
the guys can be in rhythm so they can rely
on them when the double teams and triple teams start coming,
all right.
Speaker 5 (36:29):
Also, have not heard from you, JG on the extensions.
Now that the details are out and we've all had
time to digest, I have to ask you about the
extensions of Jalen Green and Alprin shing Gun. I heard
Brian Windhors say something on that other network. He says,
the way the Jalen Green contract is structured, it is
(36:52):
likely that it was structured as such from a Jalen
standpoint to bet on himself, but Raphael Stone, the general
Joba Rockets, has given himself a runway for Jalen Green
to get traded in the next season or two. Just
your thoughts on those deals I hide laid out.
Speaker 13 (37:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
First we'll tackle the outperntion going because it's super straightforward.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Absolute steel of the deal.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
He's arguably one of, if not maybe the best player
from that twenty twenty one draft class. You got it
right up there alongside the likes of you know, Cad Cunningham,
Evan Mobley, Scottie Barnes, Franz Wagner. He's definitely in that
mix with those guys. You can make an argument who's
the best, who's second third, whatever, But he he deserved
a rookie NAX extension and Rafelsoone got him for a
cheaper than that, So absolute steel in that contract. The
(37:39):
Jalen Green situation is a little bit more fluid interesting.
I don't know how to describe it, because I think
that based on where Jalen's been at through three years
of his NBA career, you could have made the good
faith argument, hey, send him a restricted free agency right,
make him prove it again this season. I think the
contract takes a little bit of that weight off his shoulder,
so you can just go out and hoop this year
(38:00):
and not have that kind of cloud lingering over him.
But then when you look down the line, yeah, I
mean being able to have that contract, it's gonna kick
in July first, next off season, and you won't have
this issue of okay, if you let him go to
a restricted free agency and then you extend and then
he's untradeable for a little while. And so this actually
makes it possible for Jalen Green to be dealt as
(38:22):
early as next all season if there's you know, a
potential you know, star player available or you maybe you
have eyes on if the Phoenix Suns start falling apart
and Devin Booker maybe wants out of Phoenix. That's a
very precarious situation over there, with an aging Kevin Durant
and a very small amount of future assets assets that
the Rockets actually own when they traded the Brooklyn Nets
(38:45):
picks back to Brooklyn to get their hands on the
Phoenix Sun's future draft capital. So if Phoenix at any
point decides they want to hit the reset button, they're
going to have to play ball with the Rockets in
order to do that. And you could very easily see
a world where, hey, if Devin Booker wants out of Phoenix,
the Rockets a young, up and coming two yard and
that could be a really clean swap there potentially.
Speaker 5 (39:04):
Especially yeah, with Jalen making real money now kicking in
next season, all right, somebody making some real money. The
Memphis Grizzlies in town. Jahn Morant missed seventy three games
last year, didn't really look like himself. The Grizzlies got
banged up a little bit, and then essentially their year
was over. Jahn Morant in their first game opening night
the other night looked pretty good. I know you saw that.
(39:26):
John Morant twenty two ten and five, No Jared Jackson
Junior to night. What can we expect to see from
the Grizzlies, will the Rockets? And how do the Rockets
get into the win column? First one of the year.
Speaker 7 (39:37):
Well, I'll tell you what.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Let me flip the script on you really quick stand
because first game of the season, Zach Edy, who is
the savor right now to win Rookie of the Year,
suld out in fifteen run. So I'm gonna set you
in over under right now, Zach Edy over under fourteen
point five minutes played in this game?
Speaker 1 (39:56):
What you got under under?
Speaker 3 (40:01):
Every guy?
Speaker 5 (40:01):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
I respect it because, look, I don't know how Zach
Edy is gonna try and guard alf Rin Hinguin.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
The dude is a foul.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
Magnet and I can't imagine any way that that's gonna
look good for Zach Edy if he fouled out in
fifteen minutes the first game of the season, not dealing
with alf riynchingun. Look, this is gonna be an interesting
matchup because the Rockets and Grizzlies are both projected as
kind of the two teams to be.
Speaker 12 (40:24):
I've been calling them.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
The party crashers this year for the Western Conference, right,
they both missed the play in tournament, albeit for very
different reasons last season. The Grizzlies, like you said, banged up, injured,
all that stuff. I think it's gonna be a fascinating matchup.
I'm really curious to see how the Rockets decide they're
gonna guard John Morant. They've got Dylan Brooks, who is
usually their premier ace descender. You throw on the opposing
(40:47):
team's best player. But we talked about this over at
Lockdown Rockets. It would actually make a lot of sense
to make Jalen Green john Morant's primary descender. Like, Jalen's
shown a lot of improvement on that side of the ball.
He's really great in man de man individual coverage, guarding
an isolation, and he's got the physical traits you need
to be able to stick with John, right, the speed,
the athleticism, the quickness, all of that. So I'd be
(41:09):
very curious see how that's gonna look. And then again,
on the inside, the Grizzlies don't have anybody that can
reliably check alp rin hinggun, especially with Jaren Jackson Junior
out of the game. You know Santi al Dama can't
do it. Zach Edy can't do it. Brandon Clark off
the bench can't do it. This should be a really
big game for alp rin chinggun. And then one more
note to look at also on the offensive end for
(41:30):
Jalen Green, He's likely going to be guarded by Marcus Smart,
and Marcus Smart's one of the elite point of attack
defenders perimeter defenders in the NBA, only a few years
removed from winning DPOY right, So I'm very curious see
what that's going to look like for Jalen Green because
oftentimes last season he struggled when being matched up with
an elite perimeter defender. So how does he respond to
(41:52):
that challenge in this game. I'm fully expecting the Rockets
to come out with a chip on their shoulder, especially
after losing that first game against the Charlotte Lune. They
need to get this win. You don't want to start
the season zero and two.
Speaker 5 (42:02):
That's the words of Jackson Gatland locked on Rockets pod,
locked on NBA pod, joining us here on next up,
stan Fleet. Gordy's stepping out for a second. He'll be
back shortly. Thank you so much, Jackson following him, won't
you Houston? He is at J T Gatland JJ appreciated.
Speaker 1 (42:18):
Man, see you the TC always a pleasure man. Thank you.
Speaker 5 (42:22):
All right, be well, we'll come back with Jonathan m
Alexander the Houston Chronicle on our Sports Talks even night
at kicking off hour two.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
Now, what's next?
Speaker 2 (42:32):
Next up? It's the next man up, Next.
Speaker 1 (42:35):
Up, the next step, take the next step, next.
Speaker 4 (42:37):
Up, stop, next next up.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
This team wants to be next.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
This is Next Up with Tad Northfleeten Chris Gordy.
Speaker 4 (42:47):
Let's see what's next next next There we.
Speaker 5 (42:52):
Go live from the Galleria area west Loop South to
be precise final hour of the week here on Next Up,
Indianapolises in town. With no further ado. We go to
the guest line on a bit behind on the clock.
Want to make sure that we take advantage of the
time that we have. You hear them on the station
and on the show regularly become quite popular on the
(43:14):
media circuit here in the city covering the Texans. Courtesy
of The Houston Chronicle. Jonathan m Alexander, J and May.
Good morning to you, sir. Let's get ready for week eight?
What say you?
Speaker 1 (43:26):
Absolutely?
Speaker 12 (43:27):
I'm ready for it should be a good game Texas
really offensive line gotta turn things around if they want
to win.
Speaker 5 (43:33):
For sure, you mad at me for how verbal, how vocal,
how demonstrative I have been in demanding calling for Bobby
Slowack and that old line to be better. You mad
at me about that? What am I missing here? No,
not at all.
Speaker 12 (43:49):
I think it is within reason. I mean, you know,
you look at the Texans when they came into the season.
They were supposed to have a five headed monster, and
this offense was both to be one of the best
in the NFL with various weapons, Nico Collins, Stefan Dig's
Joe Mixon. Now, of course Nico Collins hasn't played, but
you expect more from guys like Tank Dell and for
(44:11):
him to have a zero yard game and for the
offense to have taken a step back, particularly the offensive line,
you know, that's an indictment on on body, slug and
the rest of the offense. So they definitely have to
be better.
Speaker 5 (44:25):
All right. I think that as we put the Green
Bay game behind us and focus on what's in front
of us. Obviously the AFC South is up for grabs.
Do you have confidence? I want to ask two questions, Ry,
do you have confidence that the Texans will look more
like themselves. But at the same time, if we look
(44:45):
around the league, how many teams look the way they
looked in Week one? What do you think we will
see from this Texans unit? Given who looks like they
will that won't be in the lineup on Sunday.
Speaker 12 (44:58):
Yeah. I think the Texans will have improvement this week.
I think when you look when you break down the issues,
and I have a story in this in our Sunday paper,
when you break down the Texans issue, they have a
lot of their issues on the road against teams with
loud environments. You look at the Vikings and we was
a Week three the Colts, even Week one the Packers
in Week seven, the Texans have given up their most
(45:20):
sacks in those environments. They give but four sacks each
in those games. I think they've been having a lot
of trouble with communicating, figuring out getting everybody on the
same page. When they played at home, they've only given
up six total sacks and that's three games, so an
average is two per game. They'll play at home this week,
I think they'll be a lot better. And I think
that's been a huge Folks, of theirs throughout the entire
(45:43):
week of practice. They were embarrassed and they don't want
to look that way again in a very pivotal game
on Sunday.
Speaker 5 (45:49):
Yeah, they should be embarrassed. Jonathan Alexander the Houston Chronicle
joining us here on next up, appreciate his time on
a Friday, and I think about I will get to
the trade deadline here in just a little bit. All right,
what are we hearing? Some dudes practiced yesterday. I saw
some defensive starters come back. We know Nico remains out.
(46:11):
What did the injury report? What jumped out at you
as we think about who's gonna play?
Speaker 12 (46:16):
Yeah, I think what jumped out that me was Henry
Toldtold who practiced on Wednesday but didn't practice on Thursday.
That would seem to indicate that perhaps he's probably taking
a step back into concussion protocol. I don't think it's
totally bad. He was still in the building, but it
might mean that he might not play on Sunday, which
is why they brought in Devin White, because they are
very thin at linebacker, and Devin White has a history
(46:39):
of proma All Pro player, Pro bowler. He can play
real well. He can adapt to any system, so I
think you bring him in for those depth purposes. But yeah,
I think that was the thing. That Another thing was
Kamari Laster practice for the second day in a row,
and that is going to be huge because they were
starting to struggle at cornerback opposite of Derek Stingley. So
you get one of your best players back and you
(46:59):
hope that helps you against the Colts passing game that's
really good on deep passes and has a lot of
their weapons back with Josh Downs, Alec Pierce, Michael Pittman,
so they're going to be multiple out there. So having
Comard your last the back is huge.
Speaker 5 (47:13):
I want to stay right here on this Devin White
deal because you and I come from another city. Obviously,
we were on the beat there in Carolina and Charlotte
and we saw Tampa in the NFC South on a
very regular basis. You said, when I asked about Devin
White just then rotational piece, how much do you think
Devin White plays on Sunday percentage?
Speaker 1 (47:35):
Just now?
Speaker 12 (47:35):
You know, Yeah, I think it'll probably be minimal, probably
below twenty five percent, just given this is his first
week in the Texan system. I think it was important
for them to bring him in early enough because they
do have a short week against the Jets, and you know,
players get hurt and you need as many bodies as
(47:56):
you can when you have those short week games. So
I think he will probably play minimal this week, just
giving the fact he's only practiced for two days going
on three today, and then you'll probably see him tick
up more as the week's going and has he gets
used to the system that they're playing.
Speaker 5 (48:13):
Talk with Jonathan and Alexander the Houston Chronicle on the
Texas Beat joining us here for a couple more minutes,
and we appreciated having him every time we can get him.
I made the statement to start the show the Texans
because of injuries and the poor performance of the offensive line,
C J. Stroud for right now is no longer the
(48:36):
most valuable player on the team. That distinction for me
goes to Joe Mixon. I do believe they can ride
Joe Mixing the victory on Sunday. It may not be
the thirty for one fifty nine that he had up
in Indianapolis in Week one, but I think writing Joe
Mixon does so many things simplify as the passing game
(48:59):
takes press shaw CJ. Stroud. It allows them to kind
of get their legs back up under them and gives
Bobby some time to stabilize this thing. We know CJ.
Strott is getting hit as much as except well, I
think they're only two of the quarterbacks getting hit more
than CJ. Right now, you agree with that this thing
is about Joe Mixon, or should be about Joe Mixon
right now.
Speaker 12 (49:19):
I agree with some of it, and I disagree with
a little bit. And well, I still think CJ. Shott
is their most valuable player. However, Joe Mixon is very
much up the top as far as how important he is,
and they need to continue to ride him to take
some of that pressure off of CJ. Stroud. But make
no mistake, CJ. Strott has to be better in order
for this team to win. And it's tough right now.
(49:40):
Without Nico Collins, you're missing your most explosive weapon. Obviously,
Bobby Sawyck has developed this offensive round Nico Collins in
the passing game, they have to do a lot better job.
But yeah, they have to ride Joe Mixon. The Colts
struggle and stopping and run the second worst in the league.
Panthers are the only worst team in the league at
stopping and run. And you saw Joe Mixon was able
to run for one hundred fifty n yards in that
(50:00):
Week one performance. He could have success again. But if
you're able to ride him, that takes pressure off of CJ.
Straus and allows him to potentially first and maybe hit
some passes in that play action game, which they haven't
really done much in recent weeks.
Speaker 5 (50:14):
All right, Dimiko said there was going to be no
everything is on the table to address the offensive line?
Do you anticipate and I through out earlier in the week,
others have followed. Does Titus go to left guard? Do
we see Blake Fisher get some reps in there? Do
you pull Kenyon Green out and put Kendrick Green in?
(50:35):
Do you think this offensive line the starters look different.
Speaker 1 (50:38):
On Sunday at noon, not this Sunday.
Speaker 12 (50:42):
I think you'll see the same iteration of the starting
line this week. But if they struggled this week, then yes,
I could see those moves that you mentioned happen next
week because they cannot allow this to continue to go
on if they want to be successful. So as of now,
I think it'll stay the same, But I do think
that that is the possibility you could see those same
(51:04):
moves if they struggle this week.
Speaker 5 (51:06):
All right, final question, we'll get you out of here
on this one. You have an article up in the
Chronicle about the Texans being buyers at the deadline. Some
are saying they could be sellers. I saw something on
the four Letter Networks site. Tell the people a fault
on that and we'll wrap up here.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (51:25):
I just had the opinion of Road the columns that
I think the Texans should be buyers. They are in
a position this year. In years past they were sellers
and guys who stayed pat and didn't make moves. But
just giving the fact that the AFC, the rest of
the AFC, like the Chiefs and the Ravens and the Bills,
are getting better, I think the Texans need to keep
up if they want to win a Super Bowl. They've
already put their chips in by trading for guys like
(51:46):
Stefan Diggs, and I think they need to continue that.
And I think one of the areas is in the
secondary where they can improve and get better depth. So
that's why I think they should be buyers.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
All right, that's the voice of John m Alexander. Follow him,
won't you? J o' en letter m Alexander courtesy of
the Houston Chronicle dropping by next up on a Friday.
Appreciate you j and a man. Let me roll and
do the thing. I see you over at NRG on Sunday.
Speaker 12 (52:12):
Absolutely appreciate.
Speaker 5 (52:14):
Peace to you on the other side. Let's react to
some of the things that Jonathan had to say. What
will this game look like?
Speaker 4 (52:20):
Keys?
Speaker 5 (52:20):
If you will? Some other observations I also want to hear.
I asked them about Devin White, the new linebacker acquisition.
We heard from coach Floyd as well as defensive coordinator
about title Matt Burke. We'll continue talking Texans, you know,
real Texas talk and listen to seven ninety seven one
three two, one two five, seven ninety To the.
Speaker 4 (52:39):
Neck to the Dirk Rol This is next up.
Speaker 1 (52:43):
You've kind of hit on everything I wanted to.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
Say with stan Or Plaz and Chris Gordy on Sports
Talk seven ninety It's a.
Speaker 5 (52:50):
Football Friday here in this Boys Talk seven ninety studios
appreciate Jonathan m Alexander. The Houston Chronicle drop by in
the Pevis segment. If you miss that good news for you.
You go to Sports seven ninety free iHeartRadio app. At
the conclusion of this program, Connor's going to put that
up so that you guys can get caught up. On
that interview as well as the first hour of the show,
(53:14):
Johnathan pontificated something that I believe the key to victory
for the Texans on Sunday is to run the football.
The Colts have been absolutely awful trying to stop the run.
Go back at their last game versus the Miami Dolphins
an five point one yards of carry, moster four and
(53:36):
a half yards of carry, both of those gentlemen having
double digits respectively for a total of twenty six carries held.
The backup had six points or the third string six
point six yards of carry. Hel The quarterback Tody Huntley
ran five times, averaging four yards of carry. Run the ball.
I don't care about style points, Stop getting my quarterback
(53:59):
hit and run the ball. Not that hard in principle,
it's the NFL. All of it's hard. The Dolphins ran
the ball collectively forty times four hundred and eighty eight
yards four point seven yards per caring. Yeah, you're gonna
(54:23):
have some shots. Take them when they're there, if they there,
if it makes sense. But let's not get cute. Bobby
Slowak's af frustrated. I believe I crumbled up his game
plan in a previous segment. Bobby, you can't call that
stuff from last year anymore. He tried to do that
on Sunday. Didn't work. Now, I'm not saying you got
(54:44):
to completely scrap your entire playbook, but you pivoted off
your playbook last year. Y'all wanted to run, run, run, run, run,
Damian Peers, not happening, not happening, sprinkling, Devin Singletary, CJ.
Let's let you throw the ball down the field. We'll
see what happened. Oh, we found something, rolled it all
the way to the divisional playoff round. Maybe this year
(55:07):
when we thought we were gonna throw throw, throw, throw throw.
And yes, they wanted to run with Joe Mixon. That's
why you got him and pay them money. Joe Mexan.
Right now, there are three backs in the league that
average over one hundred yards of carry. Derrick Henry, Surprise,
sa Kwon Barkley, I am somewhat surprised, and Joe Mixon
(55:29):
run the ball less communication up front. We're playing at home.
I run the ball. Stop getting my guy hit for
a week. Ain't that hard in principle, And I heard
Jonathan push back, and I know some of you probably
rolled your eyes too. Of Course, by position, CJ's the
(55:50):
best player. He also plays the most critical position. So
by definition, CJ's d MVP, heart and soul of his
team in terms of how they're going to win games.
You gotta win by running ball with Joe. CJ coming
off his worst game as a pro. I think CJ
must be careful to not go out there, and he
(56:11):
isn't built like this, but we're human. Nonetheless, CJ's got
to get out there and like you aren't, don't go
try and prove that you're still that guy from last
year and be too aggressive on Sunday, hand the ball
to Joe Dalton Schutz. Quit bleeping around you and cached over,
get open, catch the football, Steph Diggs, do what you do.
(56:36):
I'd like to see you create some more separation. That'd
be nice. Tank. Let's not drop any more touchdowns. Hey,
catch the ball like kJ and cypress. Get in here.
What's going down? Cuz what I'm gonna do?
Speaker 13 (56:55):
Real quick man, I First, I want to get a
quick take on the Rockets.
Speaker 3 (56:58):
Man.
Speaker 13 (56:58):
I think it's rather ironic that I called a couple
of days ago and mentioned the fact that I think
that uh Jalen Green's contract is conducive to a trade
short or long term, and it seems to be consistent
sentiment amongst talking heads. I gotta look Cleo Blood. I
got to look Cleo Blood in it. Man, you know
what I'm saying. I got a legits up, I see
(57:20):
the future.
Speaker 5 (57:20):
I got another.
Speaker 13 (57:23):
I got another prediction player would have come to the
Rocket before I jump on the Texas. I'm looking at
Jabari Smith Jr. And again, I know how Harm told
him yesterday, but I look at the lack of toughness,
and he went from a from a physical standpoint out
of the starter as you would see.
Speaker 5 (57:37):
Think he's the just With that said, and I also.
Speaker 13 (57:42):
Think the Rockets realize that that's why they went and
got Steven Nadams. I foresee at some point Smith is
getting a run that he's getting now because he was
a number three overall pick. If he was a late
first round or second round draft pick, he'd have been
benched by that.
Speaker 8 (57:56):
Uh.
Speaker 13 (57:56):
I for see the starting lineup consisting of Uh Thompson.
Speaker 5 (58:03):
I can't put out.
Speaker 13 (58:05):
Aman Thompson at the four, which is something they did
in stretches last year.
Speaker 5 (58:10):
It was affected.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
Pound for pound.
Speaker 13 (58:13):
I think he's a better rebounder than JABRAI absolutely, and
he's better around the basket, which is what we need.
He's he does back cuts, he doesn't mind getting the
stick of his nose, that getting offensive rebounds, and he's
not gonna take to the other offensive players out of
their rhythm.
Speaker 5 (58:31):
Throwing up untimed.
Speaker 13 (58:32):
He threes I e a I Jabari Smith, so I
fort see at some point if Jabari continues the trajector
that he's on Aman Thompson being the starter at the four,
the Texans real quick uh. Giving Nico Collins an injury
history since he's been with Houston, and the fact that
Tekdale I thought he was plenty effective last year before
(58:52):
he got hurt. The fact of the matter is he
did get hurt, and he is slight of Bill.
Speaker 5 (58:57):
I think the.
Speaker 13 (58:58):
Texans think trust went and got Stephan Diggs Stefan Diggs
for those reasons. I look at Stephan Diggs when he
was the Buffalo Bills. They didn't have a marquee receiver
over that with him they had gave Davis and pound
for pound, I think tank Dale is probably that gave
Davis on.
Speaker 5 (59:14):
Steroids, yet he was still effective with them last year.
Speaker 13 (59:18):
I'm wondering, and again I said, I'm saying what I
said yesterday. This is Bobby slow This should be Bobby
Slowe was coming out moment this weekend because you knew
going into this season Nico's injury history and tank Dale
being small and having already got hurt last year, that
you could very.
Speaker 5 (59:34):
Well be in this situation.
Speaker 13 (59:35):
The offense should not come to a screeching hawk passing
wise without Nico in there, will it be as explosive?
Obviously not because Nico is a a as a one
of one, but the offense shouldn't be as inempty as
it has been with Nico college being out. This is
why you went and got Steph Diggs to remedy situations
like this. So I'm looking obviously for the offensive line
(59:57):
to do what it needs to do. We harped on
them en up this week. I'm still Michael Scope for
them this week, but I generally need to see step
Bobby Slower and I hope I think you guys might agree.
I general need to see Bobby Slow this week this weekend,
implement what you brother, the players that you brought Stephan
dis here far and that's to us again, consistently have
a passing game. Maybe not three fifty passing and three tonies,
(01:00:19):
but I still need to see a six catch eighty
five year old performance are better out of Stephan Diggsis
And again, if we don't, why did we bring it me?
Speaker 1 (01:00:26):
I'm out Fellas.
Speaker 5 (01:00:27):
Fair point by you, kJ and cypress Man. Appreciate you
on the Rockets and the Texans. Have a good weekend, brother,
I know you'll be watching as we will. What's going
on on the h Town sports scene?
Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:00:38):
Yes, I'm gonna double down on what kJ had to say.
Nico Collins has missed two games per season on average
every year he's been here. Tough to ignore that. That's
what the numbers say. Different things going on, nothing super significant.
It is what it is. Tank Dale played half a
year last year. He was excellent in that half a year.
(01:01:02):
But his stature is his stature, and it is what
it is. The injury is documented, and I'm talking about
the on field injury, not the pistol thing I will.
I can't wait to see what Slowk and really Domko
decide to do. Are they going to stick to their
(01:01:24):
guns and keep ramming their head against the wall and
we're going to pass this thing. We're going to force
the passing game, or are they going to modify they've
been preaching since they got here. They want to run
the ball first. Joe Mixon can do that. He's pretty good.
He can also catch and run. Bobby Slowick on Joe
(01:01:44):
Mixon's production last Sunday, moving forward, let me hit it,
slow it for us.
Speaker 8 (01:01:48):
We wrap up the segment we call run because Joe
was in a groove. We get blown off the ball.
Next thing you know, it's second and twelve. They run
the same pressure I call run play we've called five
times in the game, and was our best run by far,
which is premiere against the pressure. And you know, we
executed it worse than we did the other five times.
We lose three more yards and now third and fifteen's
(01:02:09):
tough anyway.
Speaker 5 (01:02:10):
All right. The reason I like that clip is what
he said. What did he just say? The part where
he says against the pressure, the Colts are going to
bring pressure. Do you know what happens if you block
up the front right and you call a run when
a team is in a pressure, look, you can pop
(01:02:30):
a big gamer. Now you got to seal the backside.
You gotta do the right things on playside. All of
those dynamics as we see on every plate. Go look
at the tape Joe Mixon on that second run that
Bobby's talking about. Right there, that second down run when
they got down and there on the goal line, the
Kami fair Band kick to take the leave Green Bay.
Joe Mix is close from popping that one, or having
(01:02:51):
a good chance to pop that one. If the Colts
make the same mistake and add some pressure, looks if
the front block it up, Joe follow him, he'll take
us where we want to go. Now it may not
look as extravagant as it did in Week one, but
if their hell bent on just the passing game leading
(01:03:11):
the charge right now, I just don't see that while
Nico Collins is out now I've said Steph digg Steel
is a one. I think he is. I told you
I thought if Nico had played on Sunday in Green Bay,
I didn't think it would have made enough difference for
them to win. When the protection looks like that, it
doesn't matter. All right, I'll come back and tell you
(01:03:34):
Gordon's gonna join us again. We'll come back and tell
you why I think the Texans will either get it
done or not. On Sunday, we'll hear from defensive coordinator
Matt Burke and whatever Gordon would like to react to.
We got some college football on Saturday as well. All right,
NBA tonight, and I remind you that the NBA is

Your World Champion Houston Astros.
Speaker 5 (01:05:13):
Oh, twenty four minutes from now, you'll hear the voices
of Matt Thomas, a Ross Viria. I'm Matt Thomas, the
radio voice right here on seven ninety four your Houston Rockets,
Memphis Grizzlies in Town. John Morant looking more like himself?
Jalen Green? Will he start to look more like himself?
Jalen as well as Afrin shing Gun. The duo recently
got paid and we need them to play like it,
(01:05:35):
surrendering an eighteen point lead to the Hornets. Oh, it's
just ridiculous, But I'm in the Toyota Center. Many of
you listening will be over in the Toyota Center tonight.
You can hear all Rockets games right here on your
Home of the Rockets KB. I mean, I'll also be
over at NRG on Sunday as we welcome back in
Chris Gordon for the Texans hosting the Colts. ESPN bet
(01:05:58):
has the Texans still holding as a five point favorite.
Injury report came out. We went through that with Jonathan
m Alexander. Henry Totol practice on a limited basis. He
has now rescinded. I don't want to say that receded
back to not practicing yesterday. Concussion symptoms flared up, Gord.
(01:06:19):
It makes me think we may see more Devin White. Now,
what did Jayma said? Maybe twenty five percent of the
snaps on Sunday? What are you banking after hearing Matt
Burke and Devin White speak yesterday? What are you banking
that we see how what percentage of the snaps? How
many snaps do you think we'll see from Devin White? Well,
(01:06:41):
forget yesterday, let's get the latest. Aaron Wilson just given
an update. He's a practice right nowsight NRG.
Speaker 7 (01:06:47):
Henry Tootoo returned to practice today from concussion.
Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
Okay, so that's good news there.
Speaker 7 (01:06:53):
Aziz Alshai here is not practicing and will miss a
second game, so he is officially rolled out, and Kamari
Lassiter three practices.
Speaker 1 (01:07:02):
In a row.
Speaker 7 (01:07:02):
He is expected to play on Sunday. So Lassiter back,
Henry Toatoa back. So you know, again, al Shaer out
again to me, that sounds like it's gonna be a
Neville Hewitt Devin White situation there at middle linebacker. And
you know, I based it on kind of how well
does Neville Hewitt play, based on how many snaps Devin
(01:07:26):
White plays? You know, did they plan a platoon go
fifty to fifty? I don't know how they plan to
do it, But again, Nevill Hewitt has not done it
these last two games, has not done anything bad to
make me say I can't.
Speaker 1 (01:07:39):
Have you on the field. He's played well.
Speaker 7 (01:07:40):
But again, you'd like to have the depth of the
caliber of a player like a Devin White.
Speaker 5 (01:07:45):
Matt Burke, defense coordinated of Texans was asked about the
addition to Devin White yesterday. As we heard from all
three coordinators, let me have Matt Burke one please.
Speaker 10 (01:07:53):
Obviously, experience has played linebacker at a pretty high level
this league, So just an opportunity for him to come
in and you know, kind of see how we fitting
the system and fits in the room, and we'll go
from there. So obviously kind of the process of kind
of learning what he does for us and how long
he takes to adapt to our style and our calls
and stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:08:13):
But you know, history of a production and.
Speaker 10 (01:08:16):
Experience playing at a high levels league. So good opportunity
for us and for him.
Speaker 5 (01:08:21):
Devin White is a very versatile linebacker. He began his
career alongside Levonte David in a four to three front,
playing that weak side linebacker, not necessarily known to be
a SAM. But the athleticism that was there, especially early
in his career is still just twenty six, really excelled
in that spot. Tampa transitioned to an odd front along
(01:08:42):
the way, they moved him, stacking him alongside Devin White,
those two inside linebackers at the jack position. I like
him better off the ball as a will if that line,
if that athleticism is still there and he's healthy. Devin White,
welcome to Houston. We heard from him yesterday.
Speaker 15 (01:08:58):
I played with a couple of guys here, maybe seeing
a couple of guys at the Pro Bowl. It's a
lot of younger guys in here, like they kind of
know who I am, so I'm kind of like getting
that energy back from him being able to know who
they is. I'm a very ugoing guy, so everybody in here,
I probably don't talk to them already, you know, don't
you know, just been entice with them, you know. Yeah,
I mean they've been open arms to me, you know,
And I'm a country boy soul. Look I fear right in,
(01:09:21):
you know, don't shot away from nobody. Hell the D line,
they don't even shake hands. They grab you on when
you go to shake their hand. So I don't learn that.
So let's just let you know. Out of all the
guys I donet talked to, and I mean, I think
it's going good so far, and I feel like it's
trending in the right direction. It's just being the ultimate teammate.
Speaker 5 (01:09:37):
All right. Devin White said it quite comfortable being at
home Gordon all right. Overall, Jonathan Taylor may or may
not go. He's banged up with an ankle. Anthony Richardson
the oft injured Anthony Richardson still uber dangerous, especially with
those legs, Pittman banged up, Josh Down's banged up. Aren't
(01:10:01):
we feeling like the Texans like this should be a
Texans win? Are we leaning that it should be? Or
are you still in that it could be a Texans win?
Speaker 1 (01:10:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:10:11):
No, I mean again, like this is one you gotta win.
Do you feel like I'm sorry, go ahead? Yeah, yeah,
you're at home. I mean again, like if CJ. Stroud
The only time I would not feel good about them
winning is if CJ.
Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
Strow were not playing this week. I go, they got
no chance at help.
Speaker 7 (01:10:27):
But yeah, I mean, as long as he's under center,
it's and and again you got mixing back. Who's who's
made you more you know, supposed to make you more balanced?
Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
But I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:10:39):
I just go back to what they put this offense
look like week one against the same cold team. Why
would they look why would they look drastically different? Put
it that way, other than Nico Collins is still out.
Speaker 5 (01:10:49):
I'm just a big it's a week the week guy.
And I'm going to give Gus Bradley and his staff.
I'm going to give them their respect and being able
to adjust and and I think Joe Mixon can still
be the engine that we ride on this thing, specifically
on Sunday, until this offense can get back in rhythm
(01:11:09):
and the sink and let us hope welcome back Nico
Collins here in a couple of weeks. But I still
think for me, Joe Mixon the Texans will win because
Joe Mixon has one hundred yards again or scores two
touchdowns and averages four point eight yards of carry or
something like that. That's where I am. I ask you,
the Texans will win if.
Speaker 1 (01:11:30):
Yeah, I don't think it's easy just to say if
Joe Mixon has on.
Speaker 7 (01:11:33):
Hundred yards because he had one hundred yards last week
and a loss, so different opponent. But yeah, NCJ Stroud
was you know that we know what the passing game
was was not a last week. But to me, the
part of it is limit Anthony Richardson, right, I mean,
that's that's the key here. I have faith the Texans
(01:11:53):
can score twenty three, twenty seven thirty against this Colt
off this Colts defense. You have had in the opportunities
where you have played Anthony Richardson is you have not
you know, he he's made plays against.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
You, so nearly beat in week one this year.
Speaker 7 (01:12:13):
Last year has won start against the Texans, got out
to what a fourteen to nothing lead with two rushing
touchdowns before he got injured.
Speaker 1 (01:12:20):
So you know, to me, it's more about what your
defense is going to do. If you can.
Speaker 7 (01:12:25):
Tell me the defense is going to shut down Anthony
Richardson and you hold the Colts to seventeen points, yeah absolutely.
If you tell me the defense is given up big
busted deep plays like they did in Indianapolis a week one,
this thing's a shootout.
Speaker 1 (01:12:37):
Yeah, Texas gol lose thirty to twenty seven.
Speaker 5 (01:12:39):
I just don't see three plays of fifty yawds, Like
even if it was three plays of thirty y'allds. I
just don't see a Demico Ryans defense given that up. Again,
the Texans, I remind you, are allowing just fifty six
point three completion percentage including the Green Bay game. They're
first in the league and completion your percentage allowed. This
(01:13:01):
past defense for the Texans allowing just a pass a
rating of under eighty five, which is thirteenth best, so
in the top third of the league.
Speaker 7 (01:13:09):
If you will, ye know one thing that Eric Aaron
Wilson did mention Jimmy Ward as is officially rolled out
again for this week. I feel again you get you
get Kamari last year back with Stanley Petrion Bullock and
Eric Murray. You know you still got all the guys
out there that can get the job done again. You
like that Jimmy Ward out there, But it reminds me
(01:13:30):
of our conversation the off seas about Jimmy Ward.
Speaker 1 (01:13:32):
I soy, yeah, how many games are you gonna play
for you?
Speaker 7 (01:13:34):
It's just like, you know, it's like, you sign this
guy this contract basically.
Speaker 1 (01:13:38):
Knowing you're getting like half a year production out of
him every year.
Speaker 5 (01:13:41):
It's kind of how it works. Let's come back and
close this thing out, Gordy. Final segment of the week

Dondor please and Chris Gordy on next up on Sports
Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (01:15:49):
All right, let's get ready to go enjoy the weekend, gentlemen.
What you say? Thanks everybody hanging out with us. Best
sit in the country, Houston, Texas, and that's why we're
you home for Houston Sports here at seven ninety. Everybody's here.
That's Connor Gordy's on the line Fleet in studio. We
will come back to Texans because I want to close out.
We want to get predictions going into the weekend. I
(01:16:09):
want to Gordy, we will be remiss if we did
not get it to some college football. I'm going up
to Prairie View on Saturday tomorrow afternoon, two o'clock. Praierviews
playing some school in Texas. I can't recall who they're playing. Nonetheless,
it's PV's homecoming. I'm gonna go up and see what
that is about. I am told Gordy that I need
to get my ass up tomorrow, get showered, and get
(01:16:31):
out the door because folks are headed up or going
to the Baylor game, and they're also going to College Station.
So the traffic going to ninety, I'm told could get interesting,
and so I need to get up and move it.
Let's spend some time into College Space. Oh also, it
is your h's homecoming and the utah Utes are in town,
all right, and then Gordy's got some interest in what's
(01:16:52):
going on in College Station as is BYU Bengals are
going over there to Kyle Field. Let's start there. Gordion
number eight, LSU at number fourteen A and M. Goring
to A and M one point favorite ont of eggs.
Are you nervous?
Speaker 7 (01:17:07):
Uh no, because that line opened at A and M
about three three and a half earlier.
Speaker 5 (01:17:11):
In the week and has hit it down.
Speaker 1 (01:17:13):
Money money keeps coming in on LSU.
Speaker 7 (01:17:16):
In fact, most of the sports books I saw last
night had this thing as a pick them like in
other words, they had it like kind of off the board.
As you know, it's they're not. They're not even putting
a line on it. So we'll see again. You know,
I think it's in my opinion, Mike elko Is he's
doing a great job at A and M. But they
(01:17:37):
were never supposed to be a contender this year.
Speaker 3 (01:17:40):
You know.
Speaker 7 (01:17:40):
They they they've run the ball very well. They're number
two in the SEC and rushing the football. LSU's number
two in passing the football. To me, this is more
of a game that LSU has to go win as
opposed to you know, can can A and M pull
it off now and pulls it off?
Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
Man? They are in the driver's seat. I mean they're
literally you're.
Speaker 7 (01:18:00):
Looking at that last week of the season against Texas,
they were not when they're going to play for an
SEC championship in Atlanta, something A and M has not
done in all their years in the conference so far.
So you know, it's a big game on both sides.
I just feel like LSU there passing attack has been
so dangerous and Connor Wegman's kind of been up and
(01:18:21):
down since he's come back in at quarterback.
Speaker 5 (01:18:23):
Right now Saturday, shortly after two o'clock, the Horns is
wheel the flagship here for ut football. They're at Bandy.
Avandy team a couple weeks ago that upset Alabama. Horns
are favored by eighteen and a half. Vandy, however, a
Vall's ranked twenty fifth in the country. I know you're
up on your sec Does Vandy have a chance in hell?
Speaker 1 (01:18:44):
Yes, danger spot for I'll stop this gohd Stan.
Speaker 7 (01:18:51):
When they beat Alabama a few weeks ago in Nashville,
they never trailed in that game.
Speaker 1 (01:18:55):
They got the ball, went right down the field, scored.
Abama was chasing the rest of the day. It wasn't
a fluke.
Speaker 7 (01:19:01):
Vandy outplayed them on offense and defense the entire game.
And they were heavy underdogs and they and they beat
Alabama up up, you know, straight up. The next week
they had to go to Kentucky where the odds makers
had them. It's a two touchdown underdog at Kentucky. They
beat the crap out of Kentucky. This is a Vandy team.
I keep looking at and going, why do we keep
(01:19:22):
questioning them? They're good, They're two plays away. They gave
up a late touchdown to Georgia State on the road
that they lost, and they lost in overtime to Missou.
Uh Vandy is two plays away from being undefeated right now,
and I get Texas as good man. I'm just Texas
probably gonna win the game. But I think Vandy's in
this one. Man, the way that they have played, Clark
(01:19:42):
Leek calling the defense for them, They're gonna be in
this one. And if Quinn your struggles at all like
he did last week, by the way, let me remind you, Quinn,
you were Scott bench last week for Arch Manning. Arch
didn't do anything on the two drives.
Speaker 5 (01:19:53):
Came in.
Speaker 7 (01:19:54):
He came back because Arch didn't do anything. If Arch
scores leads them on two touchdown drives, arn't place the
rest of that game last. So I'm not worried about that.
Speaker 1 (01:20:03):
I'll just tell you.
Speaker 5 (01:20:06):
On the road.
Speaker 1 (01:20:08):
Yeah, keep down, Evanderbilt. They've been into the top twenty
five for the first time in a decade.
Speaker 5 (01:20:12):
Out one more. We got a rapid fireers thing. Oh
by the way, uh, Prayerview is playing Texas A and
m University Commerce is coming up there to pv all right,
University of Houston welcome in the utes. Utah favor by
four and a half. I'm inclined to lean that way.
Anything stand out to you there. Yeah, you's minus four
(01:20:33):
and a half. But no Cam Rising right, he's out
for the year, So I think I think has a chance.
They got a chance at home. All right. I'll be
at Toyota Center to night, where the Rockets have better
play for the ball, but I will be streaming on
the phone. However, Yankees Dodgers Game one shortly after seven
pm local time. Garrett Cole for the Yanks, Jack Flaherty
for the Dodgers, give me not necessarily game one? Your
(01:20:56):
prediction on the series? Who you got?
Speaker 1 (01:20:59):
Baseball season ended? When lost?
Speaker 5 (01:21:01):
Okay, I'm taking Dodgers. I'm lying. I'm taking Yankees over
Dodgers for the series. Dodgers already have a recent title.
It's good for baseball. When the Yankees actually get over
the huge.
Speaker 1 (01:21:14):
Opens up in the middle of the field and swallow,
They're gonna.
Speaker 5 (01:21:16):
Play the games. Gordon, all right, we got to get
out here real quick from you. If you have a score, cool,
If you don't, I don't have time for one. Necessarily
Texans win, yes, Connor, Texans win. I also have the
Texans winning. In the Demico Ryans era. They have yet
to lose back to back games outside of Weeks one
(01:21:37):
in Weeks two to start the rookie campaign last season.
That second loss, however, was Sir Anthony richardson n n
RG Texans win, Bobby Slow, get it together right, Joe
Mixon please, and the defense Devin White. Maybe we can
give us something. If Tod told can't go, that'll do
it for us This week for Connadie McGovern Chris Gordy
(01:21:58):
Special thanks also to Jackson Caatlan of the Locked On
Rockets pod and also Jonathan m Alexander the Houston Chronicle.
Enjoy your weekend. I'm off to go entertain Mama flee
God willing would do it again on Monday. Y'all be well.
Peace to you,
