Speaker 1 (00:02):
Now what's next?
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Next st up? It's the man up, next s up,
the next step, take the next step, next up, next stop, next,
next up? This team?
Speaker 3 (00:15):
This is next up with Tad norfleetten Chris Gordy.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Let's see what's next next next?
Speaker 4 (00:23):
Yeah, what's up everybody here on a Thursday. Happy Halloween
everybody out there. Hope you're having a good one as
we get you set for some Thursday night football with
your Houston Texans.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Man, it's been I like, I love.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
The Thursday games from a standpoint of you didn't have
to wait long, right, Like we just saw Texas play
on Sunday. Here we are short week, it's a Thursday
night and we get to see the Texans in action
again tonight at Uber.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Important game.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
We'll get into it throughout the show, an important one
to win, just from a standpoint of there's a big
difference going in the next week. Whether you are seven
and two in control one of the best teams in
the AFC versus six and three, and suddenly you lose
(01:18):
that Sunday night game against Detroit, you're six and four
and this thing starts to skid. An Uber Uber important
game tonight for your Texans up there in New York.
Of course, the Jets, they need a win in a
bad way. They lose this one and they drop to
two and seven. I mean, it is literally all she wrote.
(01:38):
They get the three and six, then you can get
the four and six. They can try to chip away
and build back to five hundred. But for the Texans again,
to me, big difference between starting the season seven and
two and having a week basically a week plus off
to get ready for Sunday a football against the Lions
versus six and three, because you really put yourself in
(01:58):
a dangerouspot of this thing crippling itself away. Of course
a little bit short handed. There will be no Nico Collins,
there will be no Stefan Diggs. There will be no
Damian Pierce. We found out yesterday he has been ruled
out of this game with a groin injury. But you
got Jo Mixing and you got c J. Stroud. Those
are two of your most important pieces. Find a way
to go get a win, however.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
You do it. Stand big game tonight. Yeah, good morning
to the peeps. My Halloween is all too a great
start having Halloween for those that are into that type
of thing. I have been thinking about this all morning, fellas,
how I truly feel about this game. And it's hard,
(02:44):
right because we work in sports and you have passion,
and there's novelty, and you have these allegiances and traditions
and just right, that's what makes one of the things
about life that's fun, Like we can put reason and
logic aside and we're just gonna fan out and Gordon,
I have tried to do that for this game. But
(03:07):
when I take my personal connection to the organization, to
the city, when I put that aside and I just
look at the football game, I can understand why the
spread according to ESPN BET has now gone up in
favor of the Jets from two to two and a
half overnight. I am very concerned about this game. And
(03:31):
it's not in a vacuum just the Jets. It's the timing,
so right, it's not the opponent. It's more about the
Texans and what the Texans aren't doing well and who
they aren't going to have on the sideline or in
the game in the huddle more so than it is
the Jets. But then when I look across that other sideline,
(03:53):
I can't ignore who the Jets are going to roll
out there now. They're banged up. They got some starters
that are going to be out there. You just said there.
I'm concerned, g man, I really am. I don't know
where you are. We'll open up the phone lines for
the people. Seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
Do you understand when I say that, how like I want?
(04:16):
I would love nothing more than to come in here
and be able to say Texans gonna whoop their ass.
That's a bad football team. Go look at the tape,
Go look at the numbers. The Jets are about this
far holding my hand, my index finger and thumb about
an inch apart. They're about this far from being a
five hundred ball club. But it just it also doesn't
(04:36):
make me comfortable because I look at the dysfunctions starting
from the top down. I want to say, Texans go
on the road, handle their business, even though they're short handed.
We have CJ. Strout, but they have Anon Rodgers. Okay,
we have the Miko Rans, no doubt about it. We
have the coaching advantage. But they got more dudes suited
(04:58):
up tonight than the Texans will have. They've got Davonte
Adams and Garrett Wilson Hell their third receiver in New York,
Mike Williams. Gordy might be as good as whoever's gonna
be the second best receiver or the first best receiver
for the Texans. They're three might be as good as
our one tonight, given the absence of Nico and Ousley Steph.
(05:20):
So that just listen, I'm going on. Throughout the course
of the show, we will highlight here's how the Texans
can pull it off. But right now, my good I
don't feel great talking me off the ladge Gordon.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Yeah, I mean this thing has been sitting still as
the Jets. The Jets as a favorite. Jets is a
two and a half point home favorite. It's a little disrespectful,
right A six to two Texans teament gets a two
and six Jets team. But you're right, I mean personnel
that The reality is the Jets have the pot with
Aaron Rodgers at the Helm Briest Hall, all the pieces
they got, They've got the potential. They just have not
(05:56):
put it all together, and consistently they have not put
it all together. We can week out. So you know,
a a certain point, you are who you are, and
that's who the Jets have been there have been under achievers.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
But can they put it all together? For one week?
You just said a word. Short week, you just said
a word. The Jets have been underachievers. Put the reasons
of overachieved. I'm gonna say you could use that same
word with Detexans because all of us, none of us
have seen the offense consistently take out beating up New
England up there with a rookie quarterback making his first
(06:30):
career start and a rookie head coach stopped a take
that game aside. When have we seen the real on
paper twenty four Texans offense we thought we might see
week one at Indianapolis. Outside of that, I can say
the offensive line has underachieved. CJ stride and putting up
the numbers largely because of the old line has under achieved. Okay,
(06:52):
Will and Anderson and daneil Hunter have hit their stride
here in the last couple of games. Happy to see them. There.
A Z's outs a badass. Oh he's not playing tonight now.
Henry to Toad is on pace to get back in
his starting spot. I guess he'll be alongside Neville hewittt
Neville playing the mic linebacker in disease's absence. Now, of
(07:13):
course Joe Mixing is the one that goes. Okay, Joe
Mixing for most of you, has to pass expectations. But
I could very well say, even with the record, put
the record aside. How the team looks, the protection issues,
the quarterback getting hit. The quarterback is turning the ball
over more than he did this time a year ago.
(07:37):
The offense has not been scoring like we thought they
would when they've had four of the five heads, so
it's not doing it. Gloom. Can the Texans win Absolutely,
I'll let you know by the time we get to
the end if I predict him to win. But we
are not along Gordon Mike Florio about twenty four hours
ago posted this while we won the air yesterday. The
(07:59):
Jets are so somehow favored on Thursday night versus the Texans.
Florio is a bit miffed. How is this possible? A
team in the Jets that have fired their head coach
and their offensive play caller. They used three timeouts Gordy
last week versus the Patriots in one quarter of football.
This is a bad team, But look at the roster.
(08:27):
I also have to be honest with my thoughts, Gordy,
I don't trust the Texans on the road. I love
what I saw Indianapolis Week one. I don't count that
Patriots game. Now we're going back into last year. I
can't just ignore the body of work how this team
has played on the road.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
Well, that's that's where a fast start would certainly help,
no question. You get up early, you take that crowd
out of it. You know, I think you can, you
could take care of business.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
But you start.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
You know you're starting an early pick, you fumble, you're
settling for field goals. They're scoring touchdowns. You let that
crowd come alive. It's gonna be you know, it's gonna
be tough sluting, and the crowd.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Is already gonna be a little bit on regiven that
the Yankees got a gentleman's sweep on their ass last
night in their home ballpark. As the Dodgers win the
World Series. Congratulations to Freddie Freeman World Series MVP. Loved
me from Freddy for what he did to the Brays
organization in the city of Atlanta. As we go to break,
we'll keep talking Texans on the other side. How will
(09:34):
we do this right? What's the formula for CJ and
Demiko to go get this done. I'm concerned, and I'm
okay acknowledging that I'm concerned. It's pro football. Anything can happen.
And this has nothing to do with Vegas necessarily taking
the odds up. That's just money. I'm looking at the tape,
I look at the personnel. I'm looking at the history
(09:56):
of Dimico and CJ. How do they get this done
without wide receivers one and two as well as some
starters on defense to boot Let's get started here on
the game. They real textas talk and listen seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
To the next episode. You can't even stop yourself fin
Jon and.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
Dord next up, as next Up continues on seven ninety's
see this warm.
Speaker 6 (10:32):
Yeah, he said test this morning rage and that's one
on from the center. In the end, the state always
stay turned up, this excitement.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
In the year for the Houston Test.
Speaker 6 (10:41):
Your sons woman, nah, yeah, because the happy rerest can
coming off that edge.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
We got four.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
Contro one thing go the your side looking down your
number one. All love about this swarm mentality and the
eight standing in the.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Northern back then, so they want to talk. Seven ninety
the name of the show is next up. If you're
new to this thing, welcome in. We'll take you up
to now. If you're hanging out with us per usual,
well you got us preset number one there in the
whip or you gotta streaming on the free iHeartRadio app.
Thank you so much for doing so here. Not only
is it Halloween, Texans have a big ball game as
they bordered a playing yesterday flew into New York on
(11:17):
the bump back there that was Keno and Crenshaw. They
got a new Texans anthem Swarm sww a r M
official music video. You can find it there on YouTube.
The homies over at Texans Fan Battle podcast alerted me
of that. Shout out to them. Been on that show.
Really support those folks, you know. I try and give
opportunities to individuals that aren't on some of your traditional mediums.
(11:43):
Coulson second verse is cool. We may get to the
second verse in the next hour. For now, let's focus
on what we have at hand. I mentioned in the
opening of the show, I'm concerned here. Can it Texas win? Yep?
Is it gonna be daunting? Yep? And we're gonna learn
a lot about set on this one. I don't know
(12:03):
that we've ever seen CJ. Gordy this shorthanded. I know
last year, even in the playoff game versus Baltimore, there
was Nico Collins, there was Robert Woods, there was Singletary
who had been running the ball well for the Texans,
as a God said, there was Dalton Shortz. I don't
know that we've seen CJ this shorthanded. And we're talking
(12:26):
about the wide receiver position and how defunct the offensive
line has been, starting with left guard Kenyon Green. Is
that a fair statement by me?
Speaker 7 (12:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (12:39):
You know.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
To me, it's more like I don't know that the
quarterbacks are going to get all the attention.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
So to me, it becomes head to head. It's it's CJ.
What can CJ? Stroud? Can he at play Aaron Rodgers
without two wide receivers? No? And that's why I'm asking,
like in my tripper, could it happen? Absolutely? You and
I said yesterday and I'm sorry for you, and I
said yesterday that they could. They're going to have to
dink and dunk. There's Kate Stolen, There's there's Joe Mixon.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
I mean, let's up. No, Damian Peers, He's out back
to some of this team's wins last year. I mean,
I'm sorry, didn't they win some games where Noah Brown
was the leading receiver?
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Yeah, who's as good as Noah Brown? Metchie's not good
as Noah Brown. He's in Washington, catch and walk off touchdown, walked.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Away in free agency, and you know you think every
team was calling on Matchie.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
The third is not better than Noah Brown. He's just
not not right now. Nor is Xavier Hutchinson. He's just
I think they can. I think they combined. I think
they could fill in and make some nice catches. And
do you want to believe that or you have evidence
that suggests that. I mean, last week they both had
some nice catches. Noah Brown is starting catching touchdowns for
a team that is in the play, but that team
(13:49):
was supposed to stink. What does that do with the
fact he signed there before the season. What is that
he's still doing the job on Sundays. If he was
that good, they would have kept them. No, he want
to leave in. Xavier huth even wanted more money. What
you believe in, what you're willing to pay for. You're
the one always talking about Jim Green. What you believe
in what you're willing to pay for. The Texan said,
here's our line in the sand. They were that, no,
(14:10):
it would it would have cost them nothing to keep
no ground. Why because they drafted those other guys Anyway,
the first round grade who fell to the second who
hasn't done a damn thing on Sundays like Noah Brown
has three catches for twenty nine yards last week. I'm
not telling you metses trash. I like match, but this
argument and maybe that's where you're going, and I'll stick
(14:31):
to that instead of the specifics here for the sake
of time. You do you, as Chris Gordy, believe that
we will see the best John Mitch and Xavier Hutchinson
tonight We've ever seen it? Do you believe? If we don't,
They're gonna ask what you believe? I've got to believe it.
You don't have to. This team believes that they are
as believe. I'm asking you, what do you think I
(14:51):
think it's possible? What do you think will happen tonight?
Those two receivers? What will happen? What savior?
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Hutcheson's best receiving total in a text uniform, his best
game last year was thirty one yards or this year
thirty one? This best game last year was thirty four.
Do I think Xavier Hutchinson will have more than thirty
four yards tonight?
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Yes? I do.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Therefore that is the best Xavier Hutchinson. And do you
believe the same for John MITCHI? John Mitchie just had
his best game as a Texan, right with twenty nine yards.
You know last year his best game was twenty five yards.
Do I think John Mitchie can have more than twenty
nine yards tonight?
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Receive? Will he? Yes? Will I say yes? So yes?
Speaker 4 (15:28):
So they will both have their best games career games
for hutch and Metchi tonight.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
All right, so I'm going to take the under on
both of those. I think this is going to be
a heavy asking a lot those, Dame. Do you understand
Number one? Protection issues? Number two Sauce Gardner, DJ Reid
and Michael Carter the second that's a good secondary. Now
both starting safeties are out, Ashton Davis and Tony Adams,
(15:56):
so there's going to be and with CJ. Mosley also
being out, the middle linebacker for the Jets, that middle
of the field, we can get something done in there
and maybe Hutch can slide in there and make something happen.
That's not really a place I want Tank Dale hanging
out in the middle of the field, but Robert Woods,
Dalton Schartz catched over Joe Mixon, middle of the field, intermediate,
(16:16):
the short routes.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
I can live with something getting done there. Well, that's
the thing you say, you said, the protection issues. That's
not a John Metchi issue. That's a that's a but
that's a Kenyan Green issue.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Put the bye product of having protection issues is CJ.
The back of his head is touching the turf. Thus
the ball does not get to John Minshi. And no,
it's not about it. I was open, I was a
way of my head. It's not about fault. It's about
competency and overall execution and production those receivers. It wouldn't
matter if Nico was playing. If CJ is under the
(16:50):
rest as he has been consistently for eight games. Now, Oh,
let's look at the defensive front of the Jets. There's
Will make donald. Doesn't he have as many sacks as
Will Landerson Jr. You've been bragging on Will McDonald formulaut
of Iowa State first round picking the twenty twenty three draft.
Oh there's somebody that Demko knows. How about another first
(17:10):
former first rounder? There's javon Kinlaw went to the Jets
from San Francisco. He's at one of the defensive tackle spots.
A man that needs no biyo when you just say
his name, Quinn Williams. And oh, by the way, there's
a San Reddick playing his second game after holding out
because he doesn't want to be there and he wants
a new deal. Oh, there's a guy that's a pro
(17:30):
bowler and I think he was second team off Pro
the last couple of years. There's Quincy Williams at linebacker.
So when you talk about their front seven, and I'm
not telling you there the damn eighty five Bears, I'm
just saying I have concerns about our past bro versus
that bunch. I hate how it sound because it makes
me sound like I want to just to win, or
(17:57):
just say you want them. Knowing C. J. Stroud is
going on the road on a short week without Steph
and Nico, They've got protection issues, and they benched the
left guard who they're going to start again tonight and
they likely won't bench him tonight because Jared Patterson, who
they subbed him for when they benched him on Sunday,
is in the concussion protocol. It's on the road in
(18:20):
an environment. There's Aaron Rodgers, so it's not dealing with
Zach Wilson. There's Anon Rodgers over there. You want to
talk about Aaron Rodgers receivers, There's Davontae Adams, there's Garrett Wilson,
and there's Mike Williams. Happy to have Lasseter over there
(18:41):
at corner. It looks like Kayler Bullock is gonna play
through that shoulder. Jimmy Ward out again, Aziz Al Shaya
out again. Now another week for Devin White at linebacker
to get more comfortable. Henry Told Told returns, and then
Derek Stingley is over there. That's Dereck singling. It to
(19:02):
me is just a it's starting to feel like a
bad matchup on a short week, and I start asking myself,
what adjustments going I'm coming to you, Trey and West.
You'll be at first call after God answers what adjustments
do you anticipate if things don't go well in the
first quarter? And for whatever reason, Joe Mixing is kind
(19:22):
of okay, but he's not lights out Joe mixing. More so,
just the defensive front is playing downhill and just there's
nowhere for Joe to go.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
What's their counter pitch. I think tonight is a Commy
Fairburg game. I mean, we've seen for weeks they've been
settling for field goals a lot. I think tonight, you
lean on him, lean on his leg, you just try
to get in a field.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
They fathering him being AFC especialists of a year two
times men.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
I felt like sometimes they were. They were like Demiko
had money on it. Now we're kicking a field goal.
Coaches first to ten, Noah set down fair baron when
you need field goals, no I think, I to me today,
the defense tonight it's on the d if they're gonna
win this game, and some of the defense go. Look
at what the Jets offense has done their last five games,
twenty two points, fifteen points, twenty points, seventeen points to
(20:10):
nine points. They've scored over twenty twice. They've scored seventeen
or less three times. To me, this is a this
is a Texans defense game tonight, and Henry Toatoe is
back out a concussion protocol that helps, all right, last year,
that whole bunch. I'm looking at them saying, y'all stop
Aaron Rodgers. I'm about predicting what's gonna happen. I think
(20:30):
Dolphins can get to twenty. Dolphins gets the twenty. I
think they win this game twenty to seventeen.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Some people are saying whatever team gets to twenty first
wins this game. Let's take a phone call, then we
go to break. We'll continue that. Their whole bunch of numbers.
I got standalytics here, a whole bunch of date. I
want to get to how do the Texans do this
on a short week? And the backups at some of
the positions that have been an issue, they don't have them. No,
(20:55):
Jared Pattison to night Trey and webs to get in
here before we close out this segment.
Speaker 8 (21:01):
Yes, sir, I understand your concern with the Texas, but uh,
it's not the size of the fight. It's not the
size of the fight, but the size of the is
that the sizes of the dog in the fight, but
the size of the fight and the dogs man and
uh uh the Mickel Ryan has done a good job
with this team. You know, and I got very much
(21:21):
faith and companies in him that we're gonna but we
gotta score more points. We just came win with field
goal like we did the Beast game. You know, we
need to really go in there and kick some butt.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
All right, My man Trey Webbs, the Trey in Webbs,
excuse me, He says. It's about the fight and the dog,
and we'll learn a lot. Hadn't seen CJ in this
moment before, hadn't seen him on Thursday night, hadn't seen
him without his top two weapons. Some people are saying
tank Dale has got to assume the role and be
a one. We'll talk more about that on the other side.
(21:53):
Seven seven ninety Real Texas talk and listen to KB
and me.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Next self continue.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
He was not having next.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Okay, here's Caad north Fleet and Chris Gordy.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
He's next.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Opay, what sports suck?
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Welcome back in the Sports Sox seven nineties. Next up
staying north Fleet, Me at stand Sportsman Chris Gordy. Him
at Chris Gordy. Thanks to Connedy McGovern. You can find
him at Connedy McGovern for setting us up here half
an hour into a game day Thursday. First time we've
said that in the Demico Ryan CJ Era, so I
keep refreshing ESPN. Bet it was at two and a
(22:29):
half at one point and now was down to two. Nonetheless,
the Jets are favored the night as the Texans flew
into the New York metro area yesterday evening, and here
we go, can c J. Stroud on a short week
with injuries and poor play in some areas? Can he
overcome that on the road versus a first ballot Hall
(22:51):
of Famer that still has plenty left in the tank. Now,
some of you may say, stand, that's ridiculous. We've seen
Aaron Rodgers. No, he is not the most fleet a
foot anymore. He's got about fifty two semi yards less
than CJ. In passing. On the year, He's thrown one
more touchdown than CJ. However, he has thrown three more
(23:14):
interceptions than CJ. And what did they used to say
about the Jets offensive line, Gordon? That was one of
the issues that played the Jets year in and year out.
The offensive line. They get Tyron Smith that comes over
from the Cowboys. No, he's not Tyron that he used
to be the Perennial All Pro. But he's better than
what they've had. They go get Uva guy, Morgan Moses,
(23:37):
formerly of Washington and Baltimore. They bring him over at
the right tackle spot. Now, if there's an area that
I feel like we must exploit, they don't have Elijahviira
Tucker at guard. So when I think about those interior
guys and the way that Domico schemes up those stunts
between those ends and tackles, we got to be able
to get some movement on. Whoever the hell is going
(23:58):
to fill in Forjavera Tucker? Jake who is this? Does
I say, Jake Hansen? Who's that? Gordy? I agree? We
on agreement. That's the formula. Defense and Joe Mixon are
gonna have to go win this game. I'll also give
some credis to what you said, and we said this
to start the week special teams. The Jets are going
out there with a brand new kicker, Kimi Fairband from
(24:21):
fifty nine yards and in typically money, So I'm not
super concerned about the kicking game. The weather doesn't look
like it's gonna be an issue. But those guys up
front on defense, I mean, they're gonna have to go
be in absolute terror the Texans defense. What was the
game they played here at home, Gordon, Oh versus the
Bears where just every play Kayleb Williams was just under
(24:41):
the rest Demko blitz the but Jesus out of him.
It's gonna have to look more like that. Whether it's
a pressure, a stunt, or whether it's an all out blitz.
The problem is because that's Aaron Rodgers. Demiko knows there's
nothing that he can throw it Aaron that Aaron hasn't seen.
So if you start going all out blintzs and now
you you got Lassiter in Stingly and man coverage on
(25:02):
the outside versus Devonte Adams and Garrett Wilson. Third, you
are playing with fire, and in a game like this
that I believe will be tight, one explosive can lose
the game for you. And that could come in the
first quarter Gordon, or it could be the final drive,
the lass play setting up a game winning field goal.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
They were rather just be careful with that blitz their
last two weeks. The last two games, albeit and losses.
He was sacked once against New England, sacked once against Pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
The other losses.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
He was sacked five times against Denver, three times against Minnesota,
three times against Buffalo. It's kind of interesting looking at
some of the prop bets. This is bet online. They've
got over under total sacks on the night, so this
is both combined. Five and a half is the favorite.
Over five and a half is the favorite. So they
(25:54):
think they think both the lines are gonna be giving
up some sacks. And it makes sense with the Texans
front of Daniel Hunter and Will Anderson and then the
ineptitude of the Texans offensive line.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
And Will McDonald has been really good as well as
Hassan Reddick a forma All Pro and Pro Bowl in
his own right.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Oh and that to Quinn Williams Gate, Oh the dude
down there with his hand on the ground. Yes, suck.
So he got after your last year.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
And jew Scruggs who was at left guard when he
got bowlowed by Quinn Williams which got CJ concussed last season.
Now Jewe Scruggs is at center, so he knows I
gotta go face that dude again. Will we see the
best of Jewe Scruggs in this moment to become a champion.
(26:37):
You gotta go play your best when your best is required.
Sometimes that's by the magnitude of the game, meaning in
the postseason, and sometime that's just individual matchups. You want
to gain some confidence, Jew Scrugs, go handle your own
against Quinn Williams. Handle you against quin Williams. I'm not
worried about Tunso and Titus Howard at their relative tackle spots.
(27:00):
They're gonna win more than they lose. The problem is
it only takes one one play off the edge. CJ.
Stroud stripsack ball out nightmare. Now, of course I'm hoping
that does not happen. Watch the tape. I don't care
what Domko is telling you. We're making more of the
(27:20):
offensive line situation than should be. That's absurd. Watch the games.
Look at the tape. What is he talking about? Man?
They got plays Bobby Slot calling plays where Robert Woods
is having the motion down and trying kick out or
pin down a lineman or edge defender and dalty Shawks
previously lining up in the full back spot trying to
(27:42):
kick out people. And what are we doing offensively though? So,
for example, what was that game this year where Fairbairn
had what was it firefield goals. The first time I
think he was AFC Player of the Week was that
we two can't remember he's got so many of them,
can't even keep track, Like, I don't know if tonight
(28:05):
is a night where fairband can kick fivefield goals and
that's enough. Yeah, okay, you get a touchdown for score
on touchn know what I'm saying, Like, Joe Mixon scores
a to so you got seven and fifteen and what's
that twenty two? I don't know that twenty two gets
it done. And maybe it's twelve to ten. Maybe it's
just the worst display we've ever seen FanDuel. It's funny
they got a prop bet. I was just looking at
(28:27):
it's this is a plus twenty two hundred odds bet,
and this is an interesting one. Anytime touchdown scores for
Joe Mixon, Brice Hall, take Dell Davonte Adams, if all
four of those guys score touchdown, you win that bet.
It's a big, big odds.
Speaker 4 (28:42):
But it's just got me thinking, I'm like, it's not crazy,
it's not crazy. You think Texan's getting the red zone
and Joe Mixon breaks.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
One, Jet's get to the goal line. Brice Hall gets
over the goal. You may not have to get to
the goal line, but go ahead and then take Dell
Devonte Adams each scoring touchdowns. Crazy, He's their number one
now true or false? The Texans have had issues with
dudes running on them this season. Johnny Times. Yeah, Breeze
(29:10):
Hall is a damn good back. What is Breeze doing
on the year, Breeze said is four hundred and twenty
eight yards, three point nine yards per carry, three touchdowns.
Uh huh. Let me look at the game, really good.
He had eighty against New England.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
His best game was against Buffalo, who's pretty good defensively,
had one hundred.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
But that's his lone hundred yard game on the season.
So look at the yards per carry against New England.
Last week Breeze Hall five yards of carry against Buffalo
in a three point loss, six point three yards of
carry on eighteen carries. And look at the volume they
give the ball to Breese Hall eighteen carries versus Buffalo,
twelve versus Pittsburgh, which is not a ton sixteen the
(29:49):
following week versus New England.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
He's only a one game where he hasn't had double
digit carries. And then that Pittsburgh game was big because
he had the big the fifty seven yard catch, so
he went over one hundred yards receiver. He's had a
fifty two yard receiving game, He's had a fifty six
yard receiving game. So they like to Aaron likes to
get him involved in the passing game.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Speaking of the passing game, as we get ready to
go to break, here is that where Tootoa helps. No,
Toto is not a cover guy.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Who's well, I just mean that having him in there
as a full complement of linebackers outside chair, who are
you dropping to cover him?
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Petrie No, that's that might be a Devin White assignment.
Can you go run down these dudes? The based on formation,
that could also be a Jalen Petrie hey In this formation,
if Breese Hall is offset to the Queen or the
King side, or if they line Breeze up in the slot,
you go cover down him. Don't know, but there's just
(30:45):
some things that come to mind speaking of Annon Rodgers
and this receiving core and his skill position players that
the Texans have to cover. The New York Giants have
the second highest drop rate of any team in the league.
They drop a lot of balls, just something to keep
(31:05):
it out on as we watch this game. All right,
Texans down some studs, but they still have some like
number seven, number fifty one come to mind. Oh, let
me get number twenty four in there as well. And
whether it's tonight after trick or tread and then getting
you some Texans action. Perhaps you're in a good mood, sir,
if you want to reward the loved one in your life.
(31:26):

they make me shut up and the Texans get it

Speaker 3 (32:20):
Com maxed up continues now.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
So I'm a new listener at already a huge fan.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
New listener, I love the show with stan Or Fleet
and Chris Gorty on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Let's wrap up our one here on a game day Thursday,
live from the Galleria area. Fleet, Gordy. Thanks to all
of you chiming in hitting us up on social media
as well as the phone line seven one three two
one two five seven ninety. How are you feeling about
tonight's game? What do you think will happen? I press
Gordon a little bit about the wide receivers and who
(32:55):
will lead this team in receiving tonight. Uh. He anticipates
a career game for both Tank Dale and Xavier Hutches.
I'm sorry Mechi and hutch good call. Thank you for
saying and.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
It's and and again for the record, it's not hard.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
If it wasn't hard, then they would have had one.
Speaker 4 (33:15):
Well, no, they've never been this high up of their depth. Chart,
So that's you know, they're getting their opportunities.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
Both of those guys had opportunities last year when Nico
missed games and Steph Diggs wasn't here, Robert Woods miss
games last year.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
But I'm just saying, as far as like depth chart
lists you, they've never been and I'm saying they're kind
of two and three today.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
Uh two and three. Yeah. I think Hutch probably as
high as Hutch has been has probably been three. I
don't know that he's ever been. He's been three. There
was for the what I'm saying he is. There's games
that there was no Nico, Steph Diggs wasn't here, and
there were a lot of games where it's Nico was out.
I see a lot Robert Woods a lot last year,
(33:55):
Nico out, Tank Dale out, and Noah bro So I'm
just like and yet me, I just said there were
games that Nico was out. Nico missed games last year,
so did Tank Dell. So Hutch had to be hovering
around three. I don't know that he got his eyes too.
Dans used Schultz a lot more last year, though, So
(34:15):
that's who I'm getting. I'm guessing Schultz is gonna lead
this team in receiving tonight. It's not gonna be sexy,
but you and I talked about it off air. If
Schultz has five receptions for fifty yards and a touchdown, okay, cool.
Now Tank may have two receptions for sixty yards, but
(34:37):
he may or may not get ends on. Let's say
for the argument that he doesn't, then I would say
Schultz was your leading receiver. I saw something. Speaking of
passing the football, the New York Jets allowed just one
hundred and sixty one passing yards per game, second fewest
in the NFL. So let's suppose the Jets do this
(35:00):
supposed and their defense has been a mess. Robert Sala
was not only their head coach, he was also their
defensive play caller. So now you got ubric trying to
call a defense. He doesn't really know what the hell
he's doing. But if Saussgardener says, I've got Tank Dale,
man up, y'all everybody else, you other team go play,
(35:22):
what do the Texans do is Robert Woods creating separation? Hey,
two games to go against Green Bay. We had an
issue with Stefan Diggs and Tank Dale getting separation, so
we expect Robert Woods to separate. Are we expecting Mechi
and Xavier Hudson to separate? It's just something like I
asked myself, what is slow? It's game plan here? How
(35:44):
does he do this? We know they want to run
Mixing great, but you're gonna have to throw at some point.
How what do you do? I don't know.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
You're gonna have set. You're gonna have sets with Stover
and schultzon. You're gonna have set Swift two backs in.
I mean they're gonna have to. I'm glad no Damian
Pierce tonight.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
So Darrel Globawale is gonna have to be your backup runner.
So Mixing is going to have to get rest at
some point. So now you're with dar elevate, JJ Taylor elevated.
JJ Taylor is running back three. And don't dismiss what
Damian Pierce gave this team in the kick return game.
Not having him back there on the kickoff return. That
(36:25):
was a big play to open up the game last week.
I'm not saying that the Texans can't do it. I'm
just saying you're gonna need somebody to do something they
haven't done. Somebody's gonna have to play above there here.
They've had that they had that happened last year. No
one saw Noah Brown at Cincinnati having one hundred and
fifty yards receiving.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
They had in this game. Last year, Brevin Jordan was
your leading receiver. Remember that slast Remember that good call
bout You know he made plays. Noah Brown made plays.
Dalton Schultz had two big games last year. I mean
that's you need somebody who hasn't done something yet this
year do something great tonight.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
Let's go to the phone lines. Rob on the south
side of the.
Speaker 9 (37:00):
Good morning, Hey, good morning, y'all. My concern about tonight
is that they have a history of playing down to
their opponents, and then they're short a lot of their
key players. I think it's gonna take several over the
top plays by their defense in order for them to
(37:22):
win this game. I think they're gonna lay an eggs
as far as the offense.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
Goes appreciate it. My man Rob on the south side,
he's not feeling like the offense is gonna carry their weight.
I can understand it's a short week and you don't
have Nico nor Steph Diggs, and you're on the road,
and you know, not only is it a good defense
on the other sideline. But there's another guy Hall of
Fame over there. He's pretty damn good. Still behold up.
(37:49):
Drake May scored twenty five on this team last week.
Drake freaking May? Who you dominated?
Speaker 4 (37:56):
If Drake making well, Drake Banns you coobe your set
and they started play, both of them. But if they
can do if if that offense could score twenty five
and it was reminder Stevenson five and find the end
zone twice, Drake May find the end zone once.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
I just again, and I ain't know. New England was
at home, but New England found a way.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
If they could find If they found a way, you
have to find a way.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
It's the NFL man short week. Think crazy things happen,
and I just don't feel great. I just don't. I
wish I could come in here and lie to you
and do what some mother shows are gonna do, not
necessarily on this station, but throughout the course of the
City Podcast, there're gonna be articles written, yo believe and yeah,
(38:48):
you should have confidence that the Texans will go play
their best ball. But that's what I'm saying to you.
I don't know that the Texans' best is better than
the Jets' best on a night light tonight, given the circumstances.
If this was a short week and the Jets were
traveling here, if this was Steph Diggs was still on
(39:09):
this roster, or Nico without Steph, If this were a
typical Sunday game, Sunday afternoon, twelve o'clock Texans at MetLife,
I might feel a bit different because it would afford
Demko more time in the team, more time to adjust.
They haven't really had a real practice without Steph Diggs
(39:31):
on the field, and now they're looking out there for
the first time without Digs or Steph or Digs or Nico.
I just can't dismiss that, like there's something there. Perhaps CJ.
Stroud on his first Thursday night game can elevate. We'll
hear from CJ in the eleven o'clock out. Kevin and
(39:51):
Cyprus get in.
Speaker 10 (39:52):
Here, and man Henry toy Tour was a backup for
a reason.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Devin White was on the waiver wire for reason.
Speaker 10 (40:01):
You know, the thing I said about this ball club
man from the start, is that at best, at best,
it's nine and eight if all things go perfect. Because
my concern from the start was depth, depth everywhere, not
just at certain positions, but even that receiver room. I said,
couldn't take a hit because we were banking on Steph
(40:23):
Diggs and Nico too heavy to be successful.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
And here we are without.
Speaker 10 (40:27):
Both of them now, and we are looking at Mitchie
and Noah Brown. We could have kept if we just
gave him a little something Etra, because he ain't making
no crazy money in Washington. But we're looking at Metchi
and we're looking at Hutchinson to try and step up
and do something they've never showed us they can do.
(40:47):
Forget what you think. Let's talk about the truth. Let's
talk about what it is. This is an offensive line
that's struggling and passed pro and let's be real, it's
some grown men on that Jets defense. And that's what
scares me about this about this game tonight. Aaron Rodgers
is a prideful guy. And I'm not saying he gonna
come and drop four hundred on the text Sunday night.
(41:08):
But what I am saying this is a very losable
ball game for this Texans ball club.
Speaker 1 (41:13):
It's very losable, you know.
Speaker 10 (41:15):
And the guy, the guy spoke earlier, and he talked
about the fighting the dog man.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
We ain't got but one dog that's showing up every weekend.
That's Joe Mixon.
Speaker 10 (41:23):
You can't point at nobody on that old line as
a dog. Nobody Tomsel softened in the run game and
pass protection, Yeah he's a he's a studding pass.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
Pro, but he ain't that same guy in the run game.
Let's just call it what it is, my man, Kevin
and Cyprus giving us a shot here on next up,
of course, will continue this conversation on the other side,
as we will get former Texans running back Jonathan Wells.
I got Jay Wells played his college ball of Ohio State.
He's gonna join us on the guest line to help us.
(41:55):
We're gonna pass through this thing. Let's try and evaluate
how do the Texans go on the road and get
this done. Many of you are hitting me up on
social We will recognize those in the eleven o'clock hour
as well. Not only is it Halloween, not only are
the tech sins at the Jets tonight, but we also
go to have the Houston Rockets at the Dallas Mavericks
Dallas Favorite at American Airlines Center by six and a half.

It's the next man.
Speaker 11 (43:21):
Up, next stop, the next step take the next step,
next up, next.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
Stop, next next stop. This team wants to be next.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
This is next Up with Taan norfleetten Chris Gordy.
Speaker 8 (43:35):
Let's see what's next next next.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
Man, Let's kick off the second half of this show
proper like nestled in between Uptown Park and Revokes. We're
live from the seven ninety studios. That's a gallery area
to be precise, stay in Northfleet, me Chris gord to him,
there's Conneddy McGovern. Thanks to all of you who kicked
it with us in the first album. For those that missed,
you can go to Sports seven ninety dot com always
(43:59):
utilizing the free iHeartRadio app at the conclusion of this
program and get caught up. Essentially, I'm concerned, I really am.
It's not just who the Jets are and their record.
It's about the nuances of what we saw the last
time we saw the Texans and now it's a short
(44:19):
week and you're on the road, and then I look
at the personnel that the Jets offer and how that
personnel has been performing and know it has not been great.
Do I think the Jets are better than whatever they
are two and six? Yeah? I do. They should probably
be more like five hundred and yes, Aaron Rods is
on that sideline at this point of his career. He
(44:39):
can't week in and week out be spectacular, but he'll
keep a little something on the hoster. He still got
something left in there, and I hope tonight is not
the night that we see that they've got plenty of
five power on offense in New York. The Texans in
the CJ. Stroud Demko era have never had this least
amount of firepower. We talked about the formula to get
(45:03):
this done. Joe Mixon is going to have to be
a heavy dose of that, but with no Damian Pierce
to back him up, those responsibilities go to Darrea Goombawallet
for more insight into what the Texans might do to
pull this thing off. Get some predictions from him as well.
Drops by the show pretty regularly these days because we
(45:26):
enjoy having them on. Very entertaining brother former Texans running
back used to also do his thing in Columbus, Ohio
with the buck Eyes. We walcome in on the guest
line Jonathan Wells, good morning till you brought it? How
you feel? Good morning? What's up? Fudders? They are doing
all right? Before we go to the phone lines, because
Wood and kJ been holding for a little bit, I
want to get them to chime in. Just your overall
(45:47):
you know, kind of a scene set Jay Well, short
week on the road, No Steph Diggs, there's Aaron Rodgers,
Jets fired their coach, all the things. How you feel
right now going into tonight.
Speaker 12 (45:59):
I'm feeling good.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
I'm sitting at six and two.
Speaker 12 (46:02):
Obviously, this injury bug continues to take a toll on
the Texans organization. I don't know what's going on, but
you know, you gotta feel good. Obviously, the Jets, like
you said, I think they're a little bit better than
two and six. But at the same time, I think
that we maybe we still have enough.
Speaker 1 (46:16):
Habit to go up there and get it done.
Speaker 12 (46:18):
I agree Joe Mixon is going to have to play
a huge role in the next two weeks until we
can get Nico back, But I think we still have
enough to get it done. Man, we just got to
play solid football. Next man up, get some turnovers like
we've been doing, and get out of there.
Speaker 1 (46:31):
With a nice w. I love what you say in
the turnovers, guys. I have this in my notes from
my study, the Houston Texans are tied for eighth in
the NFL in turnover differential at plus four. The Jets, conversely,
they only have six takeaways on the year, ranking them
amongst the fewest in the league. So they got personnel
(46:53):
on defense, but they aren't taking away the ball. The Texans, however,
taking care of the ball and going to get and
create turnovers that obviously will play into tonight as well.
Jay Wells, I want to make sure I get these
calls in. You stay on the line, because I want
to make sure Hell they may have a question for you.
Seven five, seven ninety. I got kJ out in Cyprus
(47:15):
has been holding for a while. kJ, You're next up
top of the Lorn and to your fellas, J.
Speaker 12 (47:20):
Chris stan Uh out here dodging these range jobs, Brodie,
trying to make the fact pay the bills.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Be safe, Be safe, Please appreciate your family. Quick thing
for you man the Lord.
Speaker 12 (47:30):
I take a deeper dive into this Texans offensive uh ineffectiveness.
I kind of wonder if, in addition to the old line,
if we should be looking a little more closer to
Bobby Schloyk and the reason why I say that I
see teams often. You look at Kansas City, you got
to decline in Kelsey, uh rights is how obviously to
(47:55):
rig Hill has been going for a few years. Yet
they're still consistently putting ports on the board. At a
Lesson Cliff this year, but they still put points on
the board consistently enough to be considered an offensive threat.
Speaker 1 (48:06):
I look at what.
Speaker 12 (48:07):
Jameis Winston just did in Cleveland, devoid up Amari Cooper
and his first time starting, and he'd put up almost
three hundred yards and put points on the board. I
look at Baltimore if they've never had they haven't had
a marquee receiver in a while. Jay Flowers has the
potential to be that guy, but he's still developing, and
they have a declining Mark Andrews, and they still consistently
(48:27):
put points on the board. Yet we even when we
had four strints, struggled to score and not on Is
that everybody on that old line. I don't remember exactly
what Jack Mason was drafted, but with Titus Howard, tinyon
green juice drugs, Larrmy Thompson, who's still I don't care
how elite PFF says he is. You're still only doing
half your job if you can't run block. Now, I'm
(48:50):
not telling you to do half a job, But that said,
there are so many deficiencies on the offensive line who
coming into the league people had held high in highvey God,
because they were obviously drafted in and up around. How
much of this should we be putting on Bobby for
either not getting the guys developed, because I can see
(49:10):
one or two first upper upper draft up around.
Speaker 1 (49:13):
Draft picks not succeeding. But if everybody on.
Speaker 12 (49:16):
Your O line is struggling and everybody on that old
line is a high draft pick, is the theorem or
it's stramatically? And I got a question for you and
j Weber before I go stam. You guys have either
played or associated with the league at some point over
the course of your career.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
It's a random question.
Speaker 12 (49:32):
I'm pretty sure you guys played or or rob dembos
with players that had issues with being afraid of flying.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
How did over the course of you guys' career.
Speaker 12 (49:45):
How did if they made if they did, how did
the league or teams make accommodations for guys who just
float out with like some Ba Baraccas type stuff and
just refuse.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
To get on that plane. I got you kJ F Cyprus,
I get your question. Lot there to unpack, Jay Wells,
Let's start with the underperforming of the offensive line. You
saw Kenyon Green get benched. I presume you in the
stadium on Sunday. If you weren't, I know you were
watching the game. Oh you're the legends were there. I
did see your video you in the building on Sunday,
and that leads us into hell, you played, You've been
(50:17):
in the offensive huddle. I have not Bobby Slog's play calling.
I hope Bobby also responsible for the old line being
put in position as any offensive coordinator should be, not
cause he not playing the game. But you know what
I mean by schematics, things of that nature. So let's
start there. We'll get the transportation on the other side.
(50:38):
J Okay, I know you, yeah, Yeah, I'm with you.
I'm with you. Say Bobby Schloyd, Bobby Sloyd, the old line,
how they perform in this It's just hard for me
to It's hard for me to get a.
Speaker 12 (50:50):
Gauge, man, you know what I'm saying, Like I said,
until until I see the team with all the pieces,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (50:55):
For more than one week in a row. It's hard
for me to put that on it. Man.
Speaker 12 (50:59):
Like I said, I just want to make sure he
continues to keep moving that pocket.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
Don't let CJ stand back there and get banged up.
Speaker 12 (51:05):
If he can keep moving that pocket side to side
running the football. Listen, man, I'm not gonna I'm not
gonna get on the officeive coordinator who's six and two
right now. You know the office has been hasn't been great,
but we would Like I said, we were missing our
running back for three to four weeks, did we miss Nicos?
Speaker 1 (51:19):
Now we missing Stephane.
Speaker 12 (51:21):
Man, it's just the iss Rey buckets just decimated this organization.
Speaker 1 (51:24):
Man. I can't. I can't put the blame on Sloy
just yet. Okay, So I'm gonna push back on what
you're saying. Not that I necessarily disagree. I just want
you to elaborate on your answer. Jay Wells, you and
I have both been in huddles where the play call
comes in and we know standing there in the huddle. Oh,
this is just a dumb man's decision. Man, get us
(51:46):
out of this check out of this audible something. So
in other words, I think it's fair to ask the
coordinator to put his troops in the best possible position
to execute. I can say this year it does look
is good for Bobby and he has a healthy offensive line.
Mostly he's got more toys to play with this year.
(52:08):
But it doesn't look like it did last year. Do
you think it's fair, giving your experience in an offensive
huddle with other play callers to make that assessment? Man,
stop it. I don't do that.
Speaker 12 (52:22):
I was in the listen listen, listen, listen. I was
in the middle of a season where I had an
offensive coordinator get fired. I mean people were literally staying.
The defense was literally standing on the field calling out
the place. That's how basic engineer at the office was.
I got to play in. So I don't see that
happening right now. And furthermore, I think it's on cz
to put us in the right position on the right place.
Speaker 7 (52:43):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
This is his second year.
Speaker 12 (52:47):
He's shown you that he's far beyond what anybody thought
he would be. It's on him to make sure that
we're getting in the right positions in the right protections
as well.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
I think he's mature.
Speaker 12 (52:55):
Enough to do that, and I think we got to
put a little bit of owners on him as well.
Speaker 1 (53:00):
Interesting context. All right, who is that kJ asked us
about flying? Wells. I know you travel a lot, both
domestically and internationally. Gordon, you and I have had this conversation.
I don't really love being up there. It's not the elevation,
it's I don't like the rough air. It just does
something for me. Now. I haven't ventured into the melowtonin
and all of that, but I don't love the like,
(53:24):
oh my god, like having to fly from the east
coast to the west coast of vice versa. I can't
stand it now. Being here in Houston, you're about equal
distant from both coast give or tape. So I haven't
seen teams tell a dude, okay, you can't fly, We'll
just send you two days early in a van or something.
I haven't seen that with regularity. Jay Wells, you played
(53:46):
with some guys that didn't love flying, I imagine.
Speaker 12 (53:49):
No, I've absolutely never heard. I never have never heard
of it. Listen, you gotta think by the time you
get to the league. But you played college for four years.
No college is driving you personally around on the bus
to get to the game. If you want to play football.
Speaker 7 (54:04):
Get on the plane and shut up.
Speaker 12 (54:06):
The only person I ever heard talk about a plane
was Maurice correct.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
I think he was scared.
Speaker 12 (54:11):
He was terrified to fly, yes, the first time. But
other than that, man, ain't nobody talking about no flight.
Speaker 1 (54:16):
You better get on this flane mafore you be out
of this leave Gordon. We flew from Dulla's Airport in
northern Virginia, right outside of Ashburn, where the Washington football
team is headquartered, and we flew to Honolulu, and man, listen,
it was some boys nervous now, I mean because you
got to understand, you flying from the East coast, that's
five hours in the air over land, but you got
about another four hours. Jay wells that it ain't nothing
(54:37):
but Pacific Ocean. So it was some boys. And the
movie they had to nerve the play was, Oh my gosh,
what's the movie? Perfect Storm? They had to nerve the
air Perfect stormy man. It was something of the liquor
bottles that opened over.
Speaker 12 (54:53):
Do you want to know how long my last flight was?
My last flight was seventeen straight out. Oh yeah, and
I did it, and I did it back to back.
But then two months, like seventeen each wave back to
back twice back in two months.
Speaker 1 (55:10):
And that's just one.
Speaker 12 (55:11):
That's just a couple of the trips, all of my
trips for at least nine to ten hours for the last.
Speaker 1 (55:15):
Year at at at least. Man, I got some hard stories.
I was talking to you guys know ta Keo Spikes
form a linebacker Buffalo. He was in San Francisco for
a while. He living in Atlanta. A good friend of
mine to Keo said they want a flight one time
when he was playing for the Bills and the plane
dropped like six thousand feet or something crazy and he met.
(55:36):
He said, man, the fellas were so afraid one thing,
you know, they got there. I think they were playing
at Cincinnati or something. And he says, once they got
off that plane, the fellas were so afraid, guys that
they all rented drivers and they just got the players
themselves got vans and they were driven back to the
facility because they were not getting back in that air
(55:57):
given where the stateud was when they landed the day before.
I say, yo, I want no part of that. I've
had some scales.
Speaker 12 (56:02):
Good lord, hey, when we can't listen to me.
Speaker 2 (56:04):
I don't love it at all.
Speaker 1 (56:07):
I get up there because I gotta go where. I
gotta go in there for Guy's hand at that point.
Speaker 12 (56:12):
Trust me, I don't like it, and I hate I
hate turbulous with past.
Speaker 1 (56:16):
Yeah, I'm not calm and cool when that thing get
bumped up there. But listen, we all love Tuesday. I
like that check, but you gotta get up there for
the check. Gordon, close us up there when we come back.
Speaker 4 (56:26):
Yeah, certain Texans player being honored, not for player of
the week, player a month player tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (56:33):
Oh that's the teas. On the other side, Stan Fleet
going to hanging out with Jay Wales. Next up exclusively
on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 3 (56:39):
Staton north Fleet's and Chris Cordy.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
This next tough on Sports Sunk.
Speaker 1 (56:48):
Oh, about forty minutes from now, Matt Thomas and Rossviry.
I will come your way for the Matt Thomas Show.
Until then, you got Gordon Fleet. There's Connor Jay Welles,
former Texans running back. Did this thing up in Columbus?
Who the Buckeyes got this week? Jay willis h we
have it's not Michigan week. No, no, no, Penn State baby,
(57:11):
Penn State. Yeah, yeah, yes, it's.
Speaker 7 (57:14):
Oh happy Valley back to back, back to back.
Speaker 12 (57:17):
Baby, they was in the shoe last week started playing
with us.
Speaker 1 (57:20):
Hey, listen, I got my head beat in in Uh,
what year was that? Twenty two thousand and two. We
went to Happy Valley and uh, Larry Johnson the running
back went for about two hundred. Michael Haynes at defensive end,
he was the first rounder. He had about three sacks.
They had a receiver somebody went crazy. Uh wasn't his
(57:40):
name Larry Johnson? Now one of them Johnson dudes, that
wide receiver thing. He ended up being the first rounder.
Very ugly ball game, of course, you know, we didn't win.
Probably the most people I've ever played in front of
it was definitely one hundred and five something in there. Yeah,
they gonna give about one hundred and ten all day. Yeah,
that's the best.
Speaker 12 (57:59):
That's the best road experience I've ever had in any
level at Penn State. Playing at Penn State, LaVar Arrington,
Brandon Short, Courtney Brown, Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (58:08):
It was a miserable up there that day.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
And the Hen State's already got a lost. High State's
already got a loss. So if they lose this one
at some other part, I look a good listen. I'll
be honest.
Speaker 12 (58:22):
You know, I love my guys, and these guys have
been around. They've been trying to get it done for
about three years now, most of these starters.
Speaker 1 (58:29):
And I don't know we got enough. Not definitely, not
for a national championship for sure. Not worried about the
team up north.
Speaker 4 (58:37):
Jay was this is uh, this is James Franklin's specialty.
Since he's been at Penn State, he wins every game
except for Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (58:44):
I was literally getting ready to bring him up. I
don't know a man making more money than under achieved
than James Franklin.
Speaker 12 (58:50):
How was that underachievement when you keep losing to a
top three team in the country.
Speaker 1 (58:54):
I don't think. I don't think you guys repeat him
a vet. You know what happens in their SEC when
you couldn't be saving Do you know what happens in
the SCC when you couldn't beat Nick Saban? You gotta
find somewhere else to go. We'll get somebody else. Chats
what that means? Everybody would have been out a job
where they how many coaches that came through there? All right,
coaching came up in our previous segment as Bobby Sloyck
(59:17):
has been called to task here recently, I reminded our
listeners Jay Wells, that the offensive coordinator is also responsible
for the blocking schemes. Now, the offensive line coach must
instill the you know, instruct and all those things. But
schematically how we gonna block it up? That's on slow tonight.
Bobby Sloyck is going into the game for the first
(59:39):
time without his top two weapons. I don't think last
year there was any point where both were down. So
granted he also never had your mixing, So all right,
no Steff, no Nico, you know the person all over
there with the Jets. Granted no CJ. Moseley. Both starting
safeties out for the Jets. What do you think is
(01:00:01):
the formula, Jay Wells? We know they want to ride
Joe mixing, but when Joe Mixing must get substituted for
if they start to bottle up Joe Mixing because they
just playing downhill and loading up the box, how do
they do this to make themselves viable from a scoring standpoint?
Speaker 12 (01:00:20):
Uh, I think you still have to be aggressive no
matter who's out there.
Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
You can't get conservative.
Speaker 12 (01:00:25):
I think you have to call the players if you
have your starters out there, because if you start to
get if you start to get a conservative man, the
defense gonna eat you alive. Trust with That's what happened us.
So therefore I would keep bombs away. I would, I
would try to you know, obviously, Tain's gonna have to
be that first receiver for us. Now hopefully he can
step up here and make a big jump for us.
Speaker 1 (01:00:42):
I mean I would keep it. I would keep it
moving that pocket side.
Speaker 12 (01:00:45):
To side, a lot of different stuff, man, and just
keep CJ trying to keep it money, keep them active,
and don't turn the ball over, man, and give us
the winner. We can manage to not turn the ball
over even if we have to punt, that still gives
us a chance to win if our defense is playing well.
Speaker 1 (01:01:00):
All right, we're back to the phone lines. Jonathan Wells
forma Texas running back on the line with us would
up on the north side.
Speaker 7 (01:01:06):
Man, let's talk some Texans, Hey, fellers, I think that
y'all looking at this wrong. What how we're gonna dictate
and control this game is going to be the defensive line.
This is going to be a defensive game for the
Texans to take over Aaron Rodgers. He's frustrated and they
recorded you are who you are? They two and six.
They really should be two and six. I mean, but
(01:01:28):
just getting back there in Rodgers, he's frustrated. He does
have any mobility. That defensive line we have. We putting
pressure on people every game. This is gonna be a
game that that man make it hurt because they gonna
be coming at him. He's not gonna have opportunity to
get the ball out of his hands. He don't have
confidence and its receivers. The defense is gonna dictate the game.
(01:01:49):
The defense is going to control the game. That's how
we're gonna win.
Speaker 1 (01:01:54):
All right, My man would up on the north side.
Jay Wells Wood brings up a thought that I have.
Ben Jacob will get to you. Jay Wells, You ever
played in a game where you thought maybe it was
a linebacker or a defensive end that was kind of
in that pseudo just pass rush, third down type player.
Maybe it was a corner that has moved to safety.
I think about like a quarterback. You ever played against
(01:02:17):
somebody that everybody else said was washed up, and when
you got out there you were like, no, it's still
it's still enough. In there, dude, can still get it
done situationally.
Speaker 12 (01:02:28):
Man, Listen, I individually, bron I don't look at no.
Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
Football players like that. You know, listen, then.
Speaker 12 (01:02:34):
You maybe might have been on a better team than us.
Your defense may have overwhelmed my office as a whole.
Speaker 1 (01:02:40):
But I just individually don't look at guys like that.
So no, I mean not to be quite honest. I
mean we all met out there, you know what I mean.
So I don't look at nobody like that. All right, Gordy,
have you ever seen somebody the teams that you like.
I'm trying to give somebody that's an example. Who's a
player that was long into two and it's surprised me. Hell,
he's still doing it your fla on last year. I'm
(01:03:01):
sure they went up some people lined up against your
flag or like man Jo always washed and then boo boo,
Joe put the l on your butt. He's like, oh, okay,
he can get it done.
Speaker 4 (01:03:12):
But like, look, we still believe in Aaron, but man,
it's been bad. He's lasts like they lost to the Patriots.
The Patriots stink. You beat him with one hand, type
on your back.
Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
It's still the Jay Wells will say it's still the NFL, though,
you better have some respect when you line up out
there every single week. It could go down. Jacob, get
in here, man, sounds like you want to talk about
a Rod as well or a a ron Ash. Who's
that Barscott causing that?
Speaker 2 (01:03:40):
Yes, sir, Hey, Aaron Hodgers is done.
Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
He's done.
Speaker 11 (01:03:44):
He's a walking turtle machine like but man, he can't
move like he used to. He used to be able
to move and get away and buy some time. And
them the defensive line gonna eat them up. And I
predict at least to interception at least because he's a
walking turnover.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
Brett Faarr he was.
Speaker 1 (01:04:02):
He washed up.
Speaker 11 (01:04:03):
They washed them out of the lead. Knowrk Rivers the
kind of quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
It's over for Bro.
Speaker 11 (01:04:08):
That's why they gotta get the mobile brothers because they can't.
The defensive linements are so fast that you gotta have
some escapability bite you sometimes. That's why my man in
Kansas City, he buy times with his leg. Even Brady,
he want an extra fast but he can go out
of maneuver in the pocket and he can take a
couple of steps.
Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
To the left to the right bytt of time and
boom throw it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
So hey, Aaron is done.
Speaker 1 (01:04:33):
Bro Man said, Aaron is done. I remind the listening
public that didn't hear us going in the first hour.
Aaron Rodgers has thrown one more passing touchdown and CJ
Stroud has this season. And CJ has about fifty two
or so yards more than Aaron through the air. Now
he's thrown damn near double the amount of interceptions, but
(01:04:53):
he also has nearly as many yards and one more touchdown.
So some of y'all are saying Aaron is washed. I'm
gonna get him more respect than that. And when I
look at the weapons that he has, it makes me
nervous when Aaron goes out there, even though while Adam
Lazard is not going to go for them, he's out.
He's their second leading receiver. They got Davonte Adams, Garrett Wilson,
(01:05:15):
who was in the doghouse and not on the same
page with Aaron early, and Mike Williams sounds like he
wants no part in remaining there in Flora Park, New Jersey,
at the Jets facility. Nonetheless, those are their three receivers.
That's not bad. They going out there with a better
receiving cord than the Texans had. So I don't know
that this is a shootout game, but I think I
(01:05:36):
lean Aaron Rodgers and being able to distribute the football
with that crew, with Breeze Hall coming out the backfield.
We haven't even gotten to the tight end play yet
in terms of who's the kid at the tight end
for them, Tie something or other. What's his name, Todd Conklin.
That's right. Anybody got an issue with what I just said.
Aaron Rodgers clearly has weapons, we'll agree.
Speaker 4 (01:05:55):
Yeah, I agree, but they've also struggled getting them the football.
Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
So Davonte's been there for an hour, Mike Williams got
healthy like two days ago. And Garrett Wilson, whatever was
going on, he has regressed in the offense. But does
anybody that's your buck eye? Does anybody doubt that Garrett
Wilson had something in the tank that he could get
out there on any giving play. Bucket some change last
(01:06:21):
week and got a two? What does this tell you?
Speaker 4 (01:06:23):
They've had four straight weeks with one hundred yard receiver
and it's all been els.
Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
Can happen five exceptions, one hundred and thirteen yards for
Garrett Wilison defense.
Speaker 4 (01:06:33):
Remember that Sunday, that game the Pittsburgh scored thirty seven
on them.
Speaker 1 (01:06:37):
Like this defense is susceptible. I repeat, The Texans are
going out there as we go to break, no Steph Diggs,
no Nko And you know what y'at there on the
other side of the break, I said, I was gonna
ask you this. This is a short week. They have
had zero opportunity to truly prepare for life without both
(01:07:01):
of their starting to receive us. That makes me nervous.
Oh and the offensive line is protecting like trash. Oh
and all we got is Joe Mixing because I don't
believe Darria Gumbawale can run and tote that thing with consistency.
If Mixing were to go down or Knitt get tired,
whatever the situation may be. With Damian appears not being
in this game, I'm concerned about the depth. That's a
(01:07:23):
word that continues to pop up as we talk about
the Texas. Jay willis Jay excuse me? On the other side,
I'll ask you about playing on a short week. Clanson
Jersey Village, will glab you and anybody else? Seven one three, two,
one two five seven eighty.
Speaker 3 (01:07:37):
Stat or Fleetech, Chris Orty, Jesus. Next time on Sports
Talk seven ninety we part them.
Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
Make you up for them, makes you up. Let's all
the fun up texts because.
Speaker 12 (01:07:52):
The bulls are about so much oppression in the way
I'm weaping.
Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
This is Houston and I'm on Texas.
Speaker 1 (01:07:56):
Boy.
Speaker 6 (01:07:56):
I got so many weapons and we work into a profession.
Speaker 1 (01:07:59):
This all. Let's continue talking Texans, shall we? That was
I like that track right there. That track is called
Swarm Official music video by Kenneth the Messenger and Fifth
Board Crenshaw. They're part of the Texans Fan Better podcast.
Appreciate those guys. They had me on there not too
(01:08:20):
long ago. Uh dope track. They are optimistic about what
the Texans can do. What did You're on the song?
Speaker 12 (01:08:26):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:08:26):
I wasn't on the podcast. Okay, yeah I was on
the podcast. I was way for you to drop some bars.
I'm past that point, you know. The rapper? Yeah, I'm oh,
I probably goes right a little bit Jay Wells and
just leave it like that, right, I don't know, come
up with a rap name. Oh no, I just ghost
right Chocolate Thunder what?
Speaker 12 (01:08:49):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:08:49):
Yeah, I keep trying that. Uh you mentioned a guy
I don't know how he I know how he plays.
Will Anderson Jr. Has been named a defensive Player of
the Month. I seen him rocking the h down player chain.
Gonna need Will tonight, Jay Wells. Yeah, they're gonna have
(01:09:10):
to generate some turnovers and the pressure that you know,
Will Anderson and Danil Hunter. There's Tim Settle. He has
elevated his play in the absence of Mario Atwards junior suspension.
Those guys on the interior. I've seen some good things
from Folly Faricasi, that D line. I think we're all
in agreement. Led by Will Anderson Jr. And Danil. Will
(01:09:31):
Anderson already what seven and a half sacks. Both d'aneil
and Will are top seven in past rush win rate.
I think they're both in the top ten in sacks
the last time I look, Jay Wells, Will Anderson bad boy.
Speaker 12 (01:09:47):
Yeah, man, you know you remember just three weeks ago, Man,
we were sitting on the show and we were.
Speaker 1 (01:09:52):
Like, these boys gotta do more, you know what, They
gotta come on the next week.
Speaker 12 (01:09:58):
Yeah, the next week he had like three, then the
Neil had two.
Speaker 1 (01:10:01):
So yeah, this is the last three weeks. The boy's
been going crazy man.
Speaker 12 (01:10:04):
But that's what you get, man, when you continue to
play hard, because they will all remember the first couple
of games they were almost there, so I know the
coach was like, man, just keep playing, just keep playing,
is going to eventually happen. And now everything started the
line up and they're actually getting there. And that's what
we do.
Speaker 1 (01:10:18):
We need to see that.
Speaker 4 (01:10:19):
We always hear two of us guys with a high motor,
like draft prospects, this guy's got a high motor.
Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
Will say that about white dudes. Let's be Will Anderson.
Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
Is the definition, Like that dude's motor does not turn on,
like he brings it every down. He's trying to kill
the opponent. Like that's what you love about it.
Speaker 1 (01:10:35):
But to Miko tell you sometime we got to take
him off to pratts Field like he only knows one speed.
Type of deal is what we've heard. The head coach suggests.
All right, so that's that part. Oh, let me do this,
Jay Wells, don't forget I got to ask you about
a short week. Let me get clans and Jersey village
in here. He wants to talk about Texas on the
road at the jests tonight. I am concerned, though I
(01:10:56):
have not given my prediction. Clans, the floor is yours.
Speaker 13 (01:11:00):
Good morning, Good morning, God love, the show is always
and I love that swarm soundtrack.
Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
That's nice. I like that. Hey.
Speaker 13 (01:11:07):
Look, I know we got reading the palls and we
and we got a little bit of trepidation.
Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
But I like what Will said.
Speaker 13 (01:11:13):
Will Kyle not too long agover said something that was key.
Daron Rogers man is right now a shell of himself.
Speaker 1 (01:11:20):
We will smash him.
Speaker 13 (01:11:21):
He gonna see Anderson coming, Honey, He's gonna see a
lot of defenses in his face. He's gonna be running
furst of all. Some of those guys really don't even
want to play with him. Quiety has kept the guys up.
I mean, he's just hard to play with.
Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
But they got job to do.
Speaker 13 (01:11:35):
But I will say this, the offense, our offense is
in the top ten. Whether or not people are checking
the records. When the top ten total offense, they are
we we we we we are we we number eight
or nine, ain't we top total?
Speaker 1 (01:11:50):
So I'm glad you bring that up. Players, I'm gonna
let you finish your point. Give me just a second.
I'm gonna let you finish your point. Here's so go ahead.
Speaker 7 (01:12:00):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:12:01):
Go ahead, no, no, you go ahead of finishing, and
I react once you're done. Go ahead, okay, and I'm
gonna make it quick.
Speaker 7 (01:12:06):
Defense.
Speaker 1 (01:12:06):
Both of these defenses are top ten.
Speaker 13 (01:12:08):
We know these guys that defense is good, but I
say the Texas defense is just lift.
Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
It better than them. Both defenses are good though, I'm.
Speaker 13 (01:12:17):
Not taking away from Jets defense, but their offense total
offense is twenty two to twenty four. They're not even
in the top twenty. Our offense total offense, if I'm
not mistaken, we're at eight or nine. We're in the
top ten. Don't have the Jets with tied for night.
I don't have the Jets defense stop. It's gonna come
down to defense. But what defense can stop what offense?
(01:12:39):
I have our offense going ahead and beating them guys,
whether it's bout two or twenty, we got the game,
and I think the Mico is gonna fire you guys up.
He's using all this NFL talk by these analysts saying
that the Jets are better than us. You better believe
this is bulletin board material. These guys are gonna come
out fired. Up and were gonna see him come to play.
(01:13:00):
I love the Texans, I love the Rockets, I love
the show.
Speaker 1 (01:13:03):
Thanks God, appreciate it. I got Clarence out in Jersey Village.
I need to ask you two things, jay well Number One,
something it bothers me and fans have been doing this
for years. Fans get caught up in total offense and
total defense. To his point, the Texans are tied for
ninth and total offense and their second overall in total defense.
(01:13:26):
That's just yards allowed or yards game the fourteenth in points.
I don't give a damn about yards. I care about
points and the points. Texans are fourteenth, which is slightly
above average, and defensively points allowed, they're tied for fifteen,
just slightly above average. You can move up and down
the field all you want to do you get the
ball in the big rectangle. Or do you not, Jay Wells,
(01:13:49):
When people start talking about yards versus scoring, do you
put any credence into total offense in total defense?
Speaker 12 (01:13:57):
No? No, Basically it all boils down there how many
points you're getting, Like you're saying, obviously, we love to see,
you know, four yards of carriers a running back.
Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
You know we love to see CJ do what he does, but.
Speaker 12 (01:14:08):
No, absolutely, right, man, we can move the ball, have
a thousand yards with if only kicking field goals, we
lose a game, what doesn't matter, you know what I'm saying. So,
but I still think that with the injuries yet again,
with the lack of the offensive line consistency, yet again,
we're still right there at fourteenth. I think that's amazing,
if you ask me, because there's a lot of.
Speaker 1 (01:14:29):
Room to grow and there's a lot of room to
get better.
Speaker 12 (01:14:32):
But I think that that's amazing for what we've been
dealing with and having our top wide receiver running back
out for most of the year.
Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
All Right, I also need to ask you this, Jay
Wills going to jump in whenever you see fit this
short week. And let me be clear, my energy is
not great for the Texans today. Is there a way
they can win? Yes, I'm very concerned about this ball game.
Speaker 12 (01:14:55):
This reverse psychology. Man, you can't be feeling like if
you feeling like this about a two and sixteen, what
chest you give us against a good one?
Speaker 1 (01:15:01):
But here's my point. It's not just any two and sixteen,
it's that two and sixteen. But here also what I'm saying,
and it's really what I want you to speak to.
And we only have a little bit more time playing
on a short week. You've done it, I've been around it,
playing on a short week, and that's really what I'm
saying here. The Texans have major issues and protection and
(01:15:23):
they just lost their number two air quotes wide receiver.
They haven't had time to prepare for life without both
of those gentlemen, and they're going on the road that
short week. Jay, we can't dismiss that. Now, be real
with your boy.
Speaker 12 (01:15:39):
Now, mind you, I've never played on a Thursday night
football game. Okay, so I don't know what it is,
but I'm pretty familiar. Listen, I think it's going to
actually work in our fable. If not going to give
the offensive coaches to have too much time to try.
Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
To listen, they got to hit the ground running. We
got to put a plan in place.
Speaker 12 (01:15:54):
Guys know who's going to step up and play, and
we got to go out there and get it done.
Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
So I like it.
Speaker 12 (01:15:59):
And guess what that to this We get a ten
day break that's definitely gonna need to get heeled up.
So I know a lot of guys who loved the
Thursday night game because it gives you another ten eleven
days to get rested up.
Speaker 1 (01:16:10):
So it's basically like a bier after this game. Yeah, yeah,
let's do that?
Speaker 7 (01:16:15):
Was it?
Speaker 1 (01:16:16):
Chris Palmer? Is that who got fired? Yes, sir? And
Joe Joe Pengdrey better or worse?
Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
Oh man, oh man, man?
Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
You ever had vanilla wafers?
Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
Both of them, most of them poor terrible?
Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
What's my guy? Let me take that back, Let me
take that back. I love Joe.
Speaker 12 (01:16:37):
They threw join the mix because obviously they had to
do that. But he was not an offensive coordinator. He
was an offensive line coach. Joe's a damn good off
as a line coach, but not off as a coordinator.
Speaker 1 (01:16:46):
But Chris, you know that, me and him, we just
we never saw out of eye that that's just how
it go. Would you rather have had Joe or would
you rather have had David Kelly call him plays for
Wowieve it right. I don't want to do it to you,
great man, y'all will leave that.
Speaker 4 (01:17:04):
David Cully very nice man, no question, David Cully coach,
very nice man.
Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
As we go to break here, not sure where David
Cully is residing. Maybe he's in the age town. If
he is, I'm assured that he can afford as you
can to get With JB. Thibodeaux Homes and Properties, they

Speaker 1 (01:18:32):
All right, it's a Thursday, Halloween Media. You gonna get
the kids out there. What's the weather looking like. Oh,
we got storms in the area over here in the Galleria.
We got sunset at six thirty five. All right, so
you got an hour from sunset to get your kids
through the neighborhood. You know, if you don't believe in Halloween,
I don't necessarily go all crazy about it, but I
do want to get a three.
Speaker 4 (01:18:53):
Year old witchcraft Huh. You don't through witchcraft. You don't
get all the whole demonic thing. Like I ain't even
in the scary movies, like I just don't even No,
I don't watch them.
Speaker 12 (01:19:01):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
I'm not into that. Yeah, look the whole Yeah, it's
not a thing for me. Scared of the dark. It's
not about being afraid. I just don't want to put
stuff in my spirit. I'm a spiritual man. I don't
like that. Jay Wells, what you're watching scary movies and
goblins and oh you probably got some good candy in
your neighborhood. Yeah, you got that NFL paper. So yeah,
you're giving out all type of gob stops, do kids,
(01:19:22):
even meat gob stoppers? You got Jolly ranchers and blow
pops and Reesey cups. You got some candy by the door, Jay.
Speaker 7 (01:19:29):
Wells, I'm not that festive, but my name is doing
with guy my neighbors.
Speaker 1 (01:19:34):
My neighbors do a phenomenal job to give out full sniggers,
full bars, nigga bars like yeah, yeah, they's a real
deal around here. Go on this cheap ass giving out
them little snick of minnis. My wife, My wife goes
above beyond, she does it all.
Speaker 4 (01:19:49):
So Jay Walls, you're the guy the neighborhood that runs
to turn your lights off, quick turnose patty of lights.
Speaker 1 (01:19:53):
Yeah, light lights off, lights of man? Damn a damn.
Who'sh you guy? Not Ickabob Craig. Who's the guy in
the Christmas story? That the cheap guy? Oh baham bug? Yeah?
Who is that Connor? You know this stuff? You're young man? Yeah,
screws that screw that's Jay Wells, he a Halloween screw.
(01:20:13):
All right, so let's do this. We got just a
couple minutes here, all right. I can't hide it. It's obvious,
Jay Wells, I'm gonna get a prediction from you. Closing thoughts,
we will all be watching. What time is this thing?
Seven point thirty local time? Seven fifteen local time. We're
gonna get cracking. I believe this game is on Fox
(01:20:34):
twenty six locally, if you don't have the Prime service,
I believe that's what I heard somewhere early in the morning. Nonetheless,
we'll all be watching. Jets are favor right now was
fluctuating between two and two and a half depending on
what betting house you're looking at. Some have it down
to one and a half favor of the Jets. Everything
we talked about or something that we haven't a hidden key,
Jay Wells, how does this thing end up? Looking to
(01:20:55):
score prediction from you as well?
Speaker 12 (01:21:00):
I think it's going to be uh. I think it
may start off a little bit slow. We got to
try to figure out who's going to be the go
to guy. I just hope we move the ball around.
Speaker 1 (01:21:07):
Man.
Speaker 12 (01:21:07):
We don't have to have one guy go crazy and
we can get production from every single We need the
tight ends and step up.
Speaker 1 (01:21:14):
We need to get the running.
Speaker 12 (01:21:15):
Backs involved in the passing game as well like we've
been doing, and we can do that not turn the
football over.
Speaker 1 (01:21:20):
I think we go up there and beat the jetsmen.
Speaker 12 (01:21:22):
I think we're rolling right now, and I think this
team knows how to win ugly football games and that's
the key moving forward when you get into the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:21:29):
Oh, Gordy, something from you. Yeah, I was just checking
verifying it is Fox twenty six local. If you got
the old antenna, you can get it on TV. And
by the way, listening to the Rockets game on seven
ninety while both are going on. Yeah, I just I
don't know. I think I look at the numbers. The
Jets have just played so poorly. I just to me,
(01:21:51):
if the Texans going there and play poorly, I think
they lose. If the Texans going there and just take
care care business run the football With Joe Mixing, he's
been one of the best running backs in the in
the this year. For all your problems past blocking, you've
been pretty good run blocking. So you know, I think
you go dinking dunk offense. But I think that gets
a dune tonight. I think the Texans winding the short
(01:22:14):
week bothers me. Kenyon Green in that offensive line and
seeing CJ pick himself up bothers me. Not having step
and or Nico out there. Bothers me.
Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
Damian Pierce not just on special teams, but to be
able to give some relief to Joe Mixon bothers me.
Bobby Sloyd not calling his best ball right now bothers me.
That's Anne Rodgers over there. I'm about to contradict myself,
(01:22:47):
but it wouldn't be the first time. The Jets are
one in four this season in one score games. The
long victory was at Tennessee in Week two. Tennessee's a
football team. The Texans in one score games this season
are five to one, but I think they dropped the
(01:23:08):
five and two. I think this game is gonna be
under the over under it set at forty two and
a half. Gentlemen, I think the Texans come up just
a bit short. Aaron Rodgers does something I've seen him
do it too long. It could be I don't know
what it is. It could be a simple drop down
to Breeze Hall and he's out the back door, or
(01:23:29):
it could be a home run ball to Devonte Adams.
I don't know. I just think this thing comes down late.
Aaron Rodgers could get this new kicker and field position.
I don't know, but I just this one is tough
because it's on the road and it's a short week.
With everything that has happened with this team, I'm going
twenty to twenty New York Jets win this football game,
(01:23:50):
and then the Texans have to lick their wounds for
ten days until we play on Sunday night football versus
you got the Texans winning. I'm sorry, Gord, I was
looking at something. Did you say Texans win? Texans win?
Jay well You said Texans win? Yes, sir, all right,
we'll see if I have to eat some crow next week.
Jay Wells, I appreciate it. Brother. Let me close out
and get ready to go entertain a three year old
and go get in costume and do all the things.
(01:24:13):
Appreciate you, guys, Good luck always, brother, We get you
next week. Perhaps that's our guy. Jonathan Wells, former Texans
running back, played this ball at Ohio State. I appreciate
him jumping on the line. Had some things pop up
so we couldn't get him in studio Randolin sugar Land,
I saw I got Mike Lin. The Heights stayed locked
in as Matt Thomas and Rossville Real will be coming
your way on the other side, and they'll take you
(01:24:35):
from noon to three. I hope the Texans proved me wrong.
But if you look at the data, and you look
at the personnel, and if you're honest with yourself, But
that's the beauty about sports. You can ignore all that
stuff and you can cheer for the teams that you like.
For me and Bobby Bouchet sitting beside me, Gordon's in
a waterboard jersey, there's Connade McGovern and all of you,
(01:24:56):
including Jonathan Wells that chimed in with us today. We
appreciate it. Enjoy your Halloween night, Enjoy your Texas games. Rockets,
what are they like? Six and a half point underdogs
there in Dallas? You can hear that on seven ninety be. Well,
let's do it again tomorrow as we react to what
we saw from the Houston Texans. Thursday night football CJ
gonna make us proud to Miko, Bobby gets your head
