“Hanging at the still-point between
Summer and winter’s
Swing and counter-swing.
Rooks roister joyously westwards,
Red with promise.
Above them, fourteen successive
Straggles of geese
Head eastwards
Flying on swift wingbeats
Against the grain of the day.”
