No Weapon Shall Prosper

No Weapon Shall Prosper

Do you ever think, "why me? Why is this happening to me?" or do you wonder if all the hard things you're going through are part of a spiritual attack? Do you wonder how God could possibly take this hurt, what the enemy means for evil, and turn it for good? Everyone has a story, and I have been trying to get my husband Tim to tell his for years. He was stabbed in the head at 19. He has battled anxiety and depression, addiction, fear, anger, and self-hatred. On his own, he often feels like a failure. But he is the Lord’s, and it is the Lord that fights our battles, and according to Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Sometimes it’s hard for Tim to see how much he has changed by the power and grace of God, but just listen as I set out to interview him each week. You will be blown away by his story; God’s story of redemption and hope. God can truly heal our hurts and use them for our good and his glory. Do you ever feel like God is mad at you?

Psalm 30:5 says, "For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime." But what can you do when that doesn't feel true?

Today is the 10th anniversary of our first date. In honor of that milestone, we are talking about marriage today. To say our first year of marriage was hard is an understatement, but God brought us through stormy waters and to the other side, where our marriage is strong and good. The enemy is always trying to destroy marriage, but with the Lord on our side, he cannot bring this one down!

Have you ever known without a doubt that God was opening a door for you? We had an unmistakable opened-by-God door in Tim's new job this last month, and once again, I am so grateful and blown away by the attention and care He pays to each of us individually.

My brother Brian made a conscious decision when he was 18 to take the harder route in life as an entrepreneur and trust God to lead the way. There were years of uncertainty, but God always provided what he needed, and eventually Brian followed the Lord to 23 acres in Tennessee, where he is homesteading with his family, and figuring it all out from start to finish. Currently in the "wilderness" of infertility, I am handling it much better than I did my long season of singleness, BECAUSE of my long season of singleness and the trust that grew in the Lord as He proved himself good and kind. While I wouldn't want to endure that old wilderness experience again, I am grateful for it as it prepared me for this one.

We've all had wilderness times in our lives: times of waiting, drought, pain, facing the unknown, etc. These are hard times that no one would choose, but they tend to yield growth and a closeness with God that is worth every moment of pain.
