Another excellent mix of NNS’s are in store for you today.
These come from the March 12th & 13th, 1994. Then we visit May 11th, 1994 and then we get quite a surprise at the end as, like a bolt out of the blue, in comes December 25th 1993! It all flows nicely and I’ve titled it:
Interesting People Telling Interesting Stories
It’s right to calls!
Margaret talking about having met ELEVEN presidents and that she’s writing her memoir. I did a little research, and I do believe this was Margaret Coit who was a rather prolific author and won the 1951 Pulitzer Prize for her biography on John C. Calhoun.
It’s unfortunate that the whole call isn’t here. I wonder if there’s more or additional calls from her in the Vault as she’s fascinating.
(She also taught at BHCC while I was a student there)!
Fred from NJ – on railroad restaurant cars, roadside diners and lunch wagons
A bunch of traffic reports:
3 from Jack Harte covering an overturned tanker truck
And we also hear Joe Stapleton & Joe Green in his BZ Copter.
A brief call from Bob talking about Moxie
Joe with a tale of about American Indians digging for mussels at Carson Beach and Columbia Point!
Norm introsTraffic
Great call from another Bob talking cars and hat blocking…you’ll just have to wait and listen
Norm Singing with the chimes
Raj from MIT and the yearly tuition riots
The a serious call from Marty in South Boston commenting on Louis Farrakhan
Norm adeptly teases a Marezine commercial, but we don’t hear it
And Charlene
Norm signs off and next show begins
Playing 20 Questions, I believe, with inventor Jeff Pinsker of University Games. The show is in progress so we miss the first game except for two calls:
Artie
And Jarod from Canton
We then begin to play “Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?”
With:
Lisa in Somerville
Bridget from Timmons, Ontario
Bob in Fitchburg
Dorothy from Randolph
Louise near Kingston, Ontario
Steve calling from his car in Milwaukee, WI
Norm asks him a question that Steve pause mysteriously and we never get the answer, because we move on to the some regular NNS stuff
Norm singing with his show open
Ed – caricature artist down at Quincy Market has a story
Our good friend, Kristin from Dorchester – 1st Egg of Spring contest loser – For those familiar with this annual event, do you recall what the prize was? Stay tuned!
Peggy speaking about a gentleman named Walt Andrus
Natalie from Northampton – talking Walt Andrus and it is that, NOT Andurs
Fred in Yarmouth, ME
Having just completed her breathing exercises, the one and only, Generosa!
And Floyd in NC
Somehow, we return to Jeff Pinsker with a Christmas Night Show from 1993.
We continue with a Christmas Traffic report with Bruce Connolly
Calls:
Olive-Ann
Herb in Peabody
Joan
And Emily from Needham
Norm reads a cute story of a woman, Mrs. Porcaro, who retired after 33 years turning socks inside out or outside in
Also reads a bit of the Entertainment Weekly Top Entertainers of the year List (1993)
Ep 226, Interesting People Telling Interesting Stories, bends your ears in 3, 2 and 1.
