Speaker 1 (00:00):
Freedom, freedom.
I can't move.
Freedom, cut me loose.
Yes, beyonce, freedom.
So today we're going to getright into Wellness Wednesdays.
We are back with Not Just aNurse podcast, and this is Nurse

(00:20):
Jaxx, and we're going to getsome freedom today, nurse Jax,
and we're going to get somefreedom today.
Number one, please, if you'renot registered to vote, just
let's go out there and let ourvoices be heard.
This is a very importantelection.
We need to get registered andwe need to vote.
Know where your poll is, knowwhere you're going to vote Early

(00:41):
voting, late voting.
Show up at the polls this year.
It's very important.
Anyway, we're going to getright in it and we're going to
get free from this day, wednesday hump day.
I know a lot of y'all are tired, like me, but we have to get
this in because I'm going togive you some freedom about some
vitamins today and we're goingto talk about it.

(01:03):
So let's get in, let's get intoit, let's get into it.
So it's Wednesday stuff.
You know we're going to getinto right into this podcast and
make it happen.
This cold is trying to come atme and I am not giving in.
I am not giving in.

(01:23):
So here we are.
We're back to another episode ofHunter, wellness Wednesdays and
we're going to do this WellnessWednesdays to get you guys all
educated about some vitamins.
This is a time where, yes, lastweek we talked about self-care
and this week I really want totalk about some vitamins that

(01:45):
will help you with self-care anda lot of us.
We have all of these mythsaround vitamins, so I'm just
going to talk about two veryimportant ones today that, with
this flu season upon us and it'snot going to be nice guys so do
what you need to do to getyourself and keep yourself safe
this winter.

(02:06):
So let's dive deep into thesetwo key vitamins that'll make a
huge difference in your dailyhealth and well-being.
So they're vitamin d andvitamin b12.
These vitamins play a powerfulrole in keeping us energized,
boosting our mood because, because you know it's Wednesday,
we're trying to get over thehump, the mood is and it also

(02:33):
maintains a strong immune system.
So let's break down why they'reso essential, how they work in
our daily lives, and which formmight be best for you, whether
it's supplements or injections,um, so let's start off with
vitamin d.
So vitamin d is known as asunshine vitamin.

(02:58):
It's known as sunshine vitaminbecause that's where you get it
from most of the time the sun.
How many of us are outside inthe sun?
We talked about being outsidelast week, just kind of going
outside and get some of that Din your system, and what a
difference it'll make.
So D helps regulate calcium andphosphate in our body, and this

(03:20):
is super important for keepingour bones strong.
So as we get older, you know, one other good way of keeping
your bones strong is to startlifting weights in your daily
exercise.
But also vitamin D has a majorimpact in our mood and our
immune function.

(03:40):
If you're not getting enough sunor eating enough vitamin D rich
foods and some of those foodsare like fatty fish you can have
your egg yolks and I know a lotof people are into all of this
egg white stuff but your vitaminD comes from the egg yolk.
It also comes from fortifieddairy products.

(04:03):
So what about our sisters andbrothers who cannot eat dairy?
You're not getting the vitaminD there either.
So you might need to consider asupplement.
And so this is where it getsdown to nitty gritty.
It's especially importantduring the winter months, when
we tend to stay indoors more andthe sun exposure is limited and

(04:26):
then the flu season on the rise.
So if there's a deficiency ofvitamin D, it's more common than
we think.
A lot of you guys may go to thedoctor and get your blood
results and they'll say, oh,you're vitamin D deficient.
What does that mean?
So that means that fatigue, that you feel the muscle

(04:48):
weakness or even make us feeldown emotionally, like you don't
know why your mood is so down, why you feel so irritated by
everything around you.
That's your vitamin D being lowin most cases.
That's why getting enoughvitamin D can be a simple yet

(05:11):
powerful addition to yourself-care routine.
Whether you take a few minutesoutside each day or add a
supplement to your morningroutine or do those extra
weights, keep your vitamin d'slevels up.
Keeping it up will help youfeel more energized during the

(05:31):
day.
All right, so we're gonna kindof switch places, because
there's no one here that I'm bymyself again, guys, but it won't
be forever, it won't be forlong.
I feel you for long.
I feel you guys coming in.
I feel you guys coming in.
So now let's switch and we'regoing to talk about vitamin B12.

(05:51):
So I know everybody's likevitamin B12, vitamin B12.
It's a big.
Everybody is trying to get someB12 in the system.
So, mom, I'm just going tobreak it down for you.
So vitamin B12 is crucial foryour red blood cell production,
your brain function and overallenergy level.

(06:14):
It's found naturally in animalproducts like meat, your steaks,
your for those of you who likegoat, your lamb, any kind of red
meat really, you're going toget your vitamin B12 from Eggs
once again, dairy, and many ofus, especially vegetarians,

(06:34):
vegans are you're not going toget enough vitamin B12 because
you're not going to get it fromvegetarian products.
So a b12 deficiency, though, can lead to serious issues like

(06:58):
fatigue, memory problem, youknow like you get the brain fog
and like what, what?
I know I was saying something,but you don't remember.
So, with D missing and B12missing, you're really going to
have a lot of mood swings andyou're going to have a lot of
memory problems.

(07:18):
So those are some of the thingsthat you're going to see with
your vitamin B12 deficient andyour vitamin D deficient.
So how to incorporate in yourdaily life so b12 into your life
is key, especially if younotice low energy or mental fog.
If you follow a plant based diet, you might want to consider

(07:42):
some B12 supplements orinjections to ensure you're
getting enough, or you can dothe B12 liquid drops on your
tongue.
Right now, it's about gettingit in your body, and we're going
to break it down a little bitlater, like the difference
between how you get it in andwhat route is probably best for

(08:05):
you.
So having the optimal level ofB12 can make all the difference
in feeling sharp and focused andenergized throughout the day.
You can always visit me atHunter Wellness and I will take
care of you.
So these are the difference.

(08:26):
So you have the vitamin B12injections.
You can get the vitamin Dinjections or you can take it
orally.
So this is the differencebetween the two.
So if you take it orallyvitamins orally and getting them
through injections is a bigdifference.
Both are effective, though, butthey work slightly different.

(08:51):
Okay, so if you take the vitamininjections, it delivers a
vitamin directly into yourbloodstream, giving you a faster
and more efficient boost.
It does not have to fight yourstomach acids okay, especially
those of you who may haveabsorption issue or need a more
immediate effect.

(09:11):
The injection is definitely foryou.
The injection is definitely foryou.
In fact, people with certaindigestive conditions, such as
severe deficiency, may benefitfrom injection more than the
oral supplement.
The oral supplement, on theother hand, they're great
because they're not going tohurt.
You're not going to have thatinjection prick and you're going

(09:40):
to have to take now, a lot moreto get the same effect for it
to get into your bloodstreambecause it fights with your
stomach acid.
They're great for maintainingdaily levels and preventing
deficiency over time.
They're convenient, but theymay not work as quickly and
efficiently for everyone, especially those people with

(10:01):
absorption nutrient deficienceproblem.
So those people who would haveabsorption issues are people
that are older.
As the older you get, remember, just because, um, you don't

(10:23):
feel old.
Your organs are the age thatyou are.
So when you take something, your um peristalsis slows down
as you get older.
So you want to make sure that,um, if you are going to take
vitamins, you have to take itevery single day.
Now I know a lot of you haveyour vitamins stored on your

(10:43):
shelf.
It's in the back of your drawer.
You keep buying the vitaminsbecause you heard is how good it
is, and it's in the drawer andyou're not using it.
So for those type of people, Ireally recommend that you do the
injection or go one stepfurther and get an IV infusion
of vitamin B12.

(11:05):
You can't get it of vitamin D,unfortunately, but B12,
definitely you can do it.
So, ultimately, whether youchoose injections, supplement,
the drop, the liquid version, take care of your vitamin D and
your vitamin B12 level.
It is a crucial part of yourself-care.

(11:28):
It's not just about avoidingdeficiency.
It's about making sure that youhave the energy.
It's about making sure that youhave the energy, the focus and
the mood stability to take oneach day, feeling your very best
.
Remember, like we said lastweek stay focused, focus, be in

(11:48):
the moment, because you willnever have that moment again.
So, as we wrap up here, Iencourage you to think about
your own vitamin levels.
Go to the doctor, get checked, see what your levels are, get
enough vitamin D from yoursunlight and your diet.

(12:09):
B12,.
