Welcome to Episode #03 of the Nourish MD Podcast! In this episode, co-host Romana Brennan introduces PPMA's newest physician on staff, Dr. Kathryn Cardoza. Together, they explore the power of vitamin D—discussing its sources, how it functions in the body, and the numerous benefits it provides.
⚕️ About Dr. Cardoza
Dr. Kathryn Cardoza is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), earned her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and completed her internal medicine residency at Stanford Health Care.
Following her residency, Dr. Cardoza worked as a hospitalist and primary care provider at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. During this time, she also served as an Assistant Professor at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai, training resident physicians and medical students. As an Orange County native, Dr. Cardoza is thrilled to have returned home to practice in and contribute to her local community. She holds a medical staff position at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian.
Dr. Cardoza believes that her relationships with her patients are what make her career meaningful. By understanding her patients’ experiences and values, she collaborates with them to create healthcare plans that align with their lifestyle and goals, leading to a longer-lasting impact on their health. Her emphasis on preventive health care allows her to prevent diseases or catch them early, minimizing their effect on her patients' well-being.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Cardoza enjoys practicing yoga, playing beach volleyball, paddle boarding, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
