Speaker 2 (02:02):
I know New campaign,
new rules, baby Very weird, I
don't know about this.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
So, hey, brandon, I'm
Justin and I play Nelvax.
Nelvax is a human monk.
He's level 5 right now, andyou'll learn more about him soon
.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
And Bill.
Speaker 5 (02:20):
Hello, I am Bill.
I play Zane Umberlight.
He is a half-orc warlock level5.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
And Brandon hey
Brandon.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Hello, hey, I'm
playing Quill, a human fighter
who always wears his armor andalways speaks in a controlled,
authoritative voice.
Because of how in control andauthoritative he is.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Maddie.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Hi everybody, my name
is Maddie.
I play Dane Voss, a half-elfcleric.

The Arctic Suboxone
Ranger.
Hi guys, my name's Dane, I'mhalf-elf, oh, and I'm level 5,
too, just like everybody else.
Spoiler.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
And a new addition to
our little band of merry men,
andrew.
Speaker 6 (03:24):
Hey everyone, I'm
Andrewrew.
I'm playing xanifer.
Uh, the eladrin divine soulsorcerer, also level five
wonderful.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
So this is our new
campaign from the dnd story.
Uh, this is brand new.
All new characters, all newworld.
Uh, this is a little bit.
It's going to be a high fantasyset setting with a little bit
of dark fantasy thrown in here.
Uh, it's going to be a littlebit more of a serious campaign.
But we're we're following our,our heritage or where we came
(03:55):
from.
I guess you could say we're new.
On 2024 rules, I've read the dms, uh, the, the dm guide time
instead of just relying on myplayers to teach me how to DM.
So I think we're a littlebetter off.
But again, new rule set.
This is us trying it for thefirst time and learning as we go
.
So make sure you give us afollow and a like on Facebook at
(04:19):
facebookcom slash ADNDstory.
Retweet us on Twitter or ex atADDstory2.
And make sure you're checkingus out on Instagramcom slash
ADNDstory.
We are going to be using thesame social medias that we used
for our last campaign, but youwill see our channel on Spotify,
apple, whatever you'relistening to us on, you're going
to see that separated, as youalready know, because you're
(04:42):
listening to episode one.
All right, so you are fiveadventurers that have been
traveling together for about ayear now and you have seen the
ups and downs of of of humanityand all the other races.
You've seen the goods and evilsyou fought through it and
you've kind of come together asa as a as a group of hardy
(05:04):
adventurers that the local townfolk and the the local town folk
and guards have come to rely onover time to take care of some
of the problems that the commonsoldiers and the red cloaks
aren't really suited for.
They you are.
You're currently taking arelaxing night off in one of
your favorite pubs called theLucky Leap, and you're all
(05:26):
sitting at a table with oneanother.
So, one at a time, please tellus what the other players see
and know of you, and we'll startwith you, andrew.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
So, standing at a
commanding 5'6", 135 pounds,
soaking wet, is Xaniver.
Five foot six, uh, 135 pounds, soaking wet, is xanifer.
Uh, he's a ladron elf.
Uh, a bit aloof, a bit um,impulsive at times, that the
other uh players and characterswould have seen in our time
together.
Uh, he doesn't really thinkthrough the long-term
(05:58):
consequences of his actions.
He's more about what he can donow, what uh best serves him now
.
Uh, he's never met a stranger,uh very friendly fellow and, um,
at times it seems like thereare uh people that come and talk
to him that he has someestablished history with, but
(06:19):
anytime the the group reallysees them, with them, he's like
oh no, that's just a's just anold friend from boarding school
or whatever, and doesn't reallygo into it in detail.
Today he is kind of merry andlooking in kind of the
blossoming colors of spring.
He's been known to shift hisappearance from time to time,
(06:41):
but he does favor his springappearance for all the
advantages that it gives him.
And at the table he's just kindof sitting back and relaxing
and drinking a nice tall glassof mead.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Okay.
Do any of the players have anyquestions about Xenover?
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah, what did you
say?
Your ace was?
Speaker 6 (07:03):
An Eladrin elf, so a
fey wild elf.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Okay, yes, justin
does he have any particular
friendships like?
Does he lean towards acloseness with any of the other
characters so far?
Speaker 6 (07:16):
without any
descriptions of anybody yeah, so
just shooting cold, right?
I know that quill is verycalculated and so probably to
answer that question byanswering the opposite of it uh,
he's probably a little bit moreum cold with quill.
Uh, they butt heads from timeto time just because, if I
(07:36):
understand correctly, quill ismore calculating and xanaver is
more kind of free-flowing withhis actions.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
We can't have tension
in the party before he's even
described his character.
Speaker 5 (07:48):
He did, though he was
the only one that described his
character.
Speaker 6 (07:53):
He's very commanding
and I'm against authority.
Okay.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
What's your alignment
with the tower, interaction
with the tower and before that, maybe it's a good lore drop for
you, brandon, to explain toeverybody what the tower,
interaction with the tower, andbefore that maybe it's a good
like lore drop for you, brandon,to explain to everybody what
the tower is.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
yeah, so the tower is
a.
The tower is a faction withinthis realm that's no more like a
faction.
It's a faction within thisrealm that that controls the use
of magic, and by that I meanany true magic user, meaning a
wizard, cleric, sorcerer orsorry, a wizard, sorcerer or
warlock needs to be part of thetower, where they're considered
(08:34):
wildlings, so somebody that'snot part of it.
So any magic user that is partof the tower has given a
phylactery of blood to the towerso that they know where they
are at all times.
Otherwise, if they are caughtusing magic and they're not part
of this catalog or library ofphylacteries, they are hunted by
(08:57):
the red cloaks and if they'reseen, they're caught, given the
chance to become part of thetower, or else there is
imprisonment or worse, dependingon what you've done with magic,
and there is reasons behindthat and we'll get into that
section a little bit later.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Oh, there's reasons
behind it.
I thought you were just in afever rush when you came up with
that one.
Speaker 6 (09:21):
No, no, no, we're out
there like some random crystals
or something I want a highmagic world where magic is
heavily regulated and you cannotuse it unless you have a
license.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Do you have your
concealed magic license?
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Can they wear little
like patches to say, like a star
, maybe no, we're not doing that, no.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Canceled episode one.
We're leaning more towardssuperhero registration sort of
thing, right.
Speaker 6 (09:49):
Yeah, yeah.
The Tarkovia Accords Anyway toanswer your question, matty.
So within populated areas, xanathar tries to keep his magic
to a minimum, tries to besubtle in his casting, not cast
anything too powerful.
(10:09):
In places where they're notleaving any witnesses he will
unleash his true potential, butat least for right now he's
trying to stay under the radarbecause he doesn't hail from the
material realm and so he kindof questions what authority this
tower has over him and he'dprefer to just kind of stay out
(10:34):
of their graces one way or theother.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
So is he registered
or not registered?
I didn't catch that, or do weknow?
Do we know if he's registeredor not registered?
Speaker 6 (10:45):
You would not know
whether he's registered or not
registered.
You would not know whether he'sregistered or not registered.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Okay, any other
questions?
Speaker 3 (10:52):
no, but I want to go
next because I think our
backstories could tie together.
It could be it's gonna be fun I.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
I want brandon to go
next, just because he
specifically called him out.
I'm sorry, maddie.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Fine I guess, good,
good brandon, we can only
introduce your character beforeme this once.
Uh called him out.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
I'm sorry, matty,
fine, I guess, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Brandon, we can only
introduce your character before
me this once.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Yeah, sorry for
giving any sort of introduction
previously.
I thought that's what we weredoing, but, yeah, so Quill, in
his dark, large, imposing armorweapons strapped to every
conceivable surface with clevermechanisms that allow him to
(11:30):
actually reach them in a timelymanner.
He always speaks in anauthoritative voice because he
wants to give the appearance ofbeing controlled.
What some of you might haveseen in the time that we've been
working together or travelingtogether is that, outside of the
(11:51):
armor, rather than this sixfoot two man that you might
expect to see, he's actuallyonly 5'8" right.
He gives himself a little bitof a lift in there and so, being
authoritative and calculating, especially as a battlemaster, he
(12:13):
compensates a lot with bruteforce when he can.
His relation to the tower, inparticular, is definitely
fraught with some history there, because Cal, the man inside the
quill suit, actually has hisentire body covered in these
(12:35):
magical runes which are thesource of his strength.
There's this whole thing withhis father who died, and they
were killed by the Red Cloaks, who died, and they were killed
by the Red Cloaks.
And so, yeah, cal slash Quilllikes to stay under the radar
and doesn't want any legalentanglements.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Any questions for
Quill?
Speaker 4 (12:55):
You said Cal slash
Quill, so for us you're
non-military friends.
What do we call you?
Do we call you Cal?
Do we call you Cal Do?
Speaker 1 (13:07):
we call you Quill,
probably stick with Quill all
the time, because Cal issomebody who like it's like
using somebody's secret name.
He's using Quill as a secretidentity, more or less, to stay
out of the Red Cloak's viewthat's his Batman persona is
(13:28):
Quill.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
Yeah, yeah so have we
seen Quill out of armor?
Speaker 1 (13:38):
I would say after a
year.
More than likely there wouldhave to be some sort of
situation, right?
Speaker 5 (13:45):
so you said he's like
5'6.
Is that what you said?
There would have to be somesort of situation, right?
So you said he's like 5'6".
Is that what you said?
So what does he look like?
You said he's covered intattoos, like long flowing hair.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Imagine the kind of a
thin bookish type he actually
does wear glasses.
And you know, just kind of unthin bookish type.
He actually does wear glasses.
And you know just kind ofunkempt hair.
He stays in the suit a lot.
So I wasn't going to say thathe stinks, I wasn't going to say
that his hair is always messedup, but yeah, his more or less
(14:24):
imagine full body tattoos, except they are magically
inscribed runes from a ritualthat his father conducted.
Speaker 5 (14:33):
So does his
personality shift between?
I apologize if you said thisalready does his personality?
You said he's very commandingand outspoken when he's in the
armor commanding and outspokenwhen he's in the armor.
Yeah, but uh far more bookishand shy and keeps to himself and
tries to be unassuming, okay, and he got all this from his
(14:54):
father.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Huh, that sounds like
some next level child abuse to
me.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Well, kind of um, and
that's that's part of the
problem is that even in theirupbringing, or the way they
lived within the or under theauthority of these red cloaks,
his father still took the timeto learn these basically illegal
(15:19):
magics because he's notsupposed to be practicing it, in
order to give his son a leg up,and then got killed for it.
And so there's this conflict ofwhether or why they would have
killed him if, as Quill knows, his father isn't wrong.
You know his father wouldn't dothat.
(15:39):
His father is inherently goodand therefore the tower must be
bad.
His father is inherently goodand therefore, the tower must be
bad.
Speaker 6 (15:45):
Would we know at this
point that your father was
killed for performing thisritual on you?
Speaker 1 (15:51):
or that this ritual
even had occurred.
Likely, if we all havesomething against the tower, it
probably would have come up.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Okay, awesome Thanks,
bryn.
All right, matty, go for it.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Yes, just one moment.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
I'm changing my name,
just so you were dying for it
earlier, and now you're tellingme to wait.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Well, I was on the
other screen.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Why did everyone
shift?
Am I the only one who saw that?
Speaker 5 (16:18):
No, everybody shifted
.
Brandon was up there, and nowhe's down there.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
All I did was change
my name from Montoya Inigo to
Dane Voss, all right.
So in the tavern you see thishalf-elf cleric.
His name is Dane.
He has red hair and a red beard.
Completely unintentional, itkind of looks a lot like Brandon
(16:46):
.
That was not the purpose behindthat, but he's a very, very
large individual.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
If you compliment
your DM, you will get
preferential treatment.
I'm just throwing that outthere.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Okay.
So, brandon, how tall are youand how much do you weigh?
We'll use that for Dane.
We'll say he has bigger muscles, though.
Well, you got pretty bigmuscles there you go, uh, anyway
, uh, sorry, ladies he is thatis an insult to brandon pretty
big muscles he has pretty bigmuscles, oh my god they are
(17:19):
pretty big guys.
Stop yeah, uh, anyway.
So, uh, dane's profession isactually that of a bounty hunter
.
So his, his entire stick andhis, his deal is that he um is a
bounty hunter for the tower uh,he goes out when the tower
finds individuals, uh, primarilythe ones that have reached the
(17:41):
far extremes of what they'reallowed to do with their magic
powers or refusal to register, and he spreads democracy around
the realm through the form ofhelping them to stop breathing
anymore or, in some cases, detaining them and bringing them
back.
The unique aspect of Dane'scharacter is, a long time ago,
(18:06):
he figured out that the towerreally wasn't all it was cracked
up to be.
So, instead of going out andmurdering these people, he would
help them either fake theirdeaths, escape, hide, just evade
, capture uh from the the towerand then report back that they
had been eliminated.
Um, you know, sometimes bringhim back like a finger or
(18:29):
something that he'd be like yep,I killed the person or
something to that extent to toprove that he was doing his job.
But in reality, he uh doesn'tgo around killing people.
Uh, so he is kind of a like a.
You know, he's a bounty hunterfor the tower essentially.
Uh, also, what helps us do thisjob is.
His mother is actually a highofficial within the tower and
(18:53):
she too shares a similar disdaintowards it and maintains her
position.
Uh, purely to.
She's a high magistrate.
That's what I came up with.
Um, she uses her position tofeed Dane and anybody he's in
contact with kind of insiderinformation, as it is, but their
(19:13):
efforts are under extremesurveillance and they have to be
extremely careful, and so theirefforts to take down the tower,
or more like death by athousand cuts, because they're
just two people and that's aboutall they can do, dane.
Actually, I think, what elseabout Dane?
(19:36):
He's wearing full plate armor,he carries a giant mace and has
a shield.
Yeah, he's an all-around likejust good guy, but one look at
him and you're probably going tohope that you're not on the
list that he is looking for.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
All right.
Questions for Dane.
Speaker 6 (19:59):
Will we have seen you
kind of usher a target of the
tower to safety during this lastyear, or do you do that kind of
outside of the group, outsideof our gaze?
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Well, and that was
actually kind of my question for
your character, andrew, and theway that we could link the two
together is has the tower eversent somebody, potentially day
and after you?
Have you evaded their, theirlure, or, sorry, their, their
eye or watchful eye so far since?
you've been here, I would saythat that xanover would have
evaded their eye so far um, thenI think anybody's in this group
(20:37):
, unless anybody wouldparticipate in the hiding or, uh
you know, obfuscation of theseindividuals that Dane was sent
out to kill.
I mean, you guys know that it'ssomething that he does in the
background.
He has involved himself withthis group because he knows you
(20:58):
all share similar interests tohim and are working towards that
common good.
So sorry, what was yourquestion?
I don't think I actuallyanswered it.
Speaker 6 (21:10):
No, I think you did.
I mean, the question was aboutwould we have seen you do this?
And it sounds like we probablywould have seen you at some
point kind of let a target ofthe tower escape and we never
kind of follow up on it.
And the rest of the group isokay with that, because I have
yet to hear anyone that wants towork with the tower.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
But there's still two
more, there's if there is
anyone that is, the dan wouldprobably not be sharing that
information with them, but ourlisteners can know uh, yeah, so
is this like, uh, a nine to fivething, like we get done with
our adventuring day and you'relike, well guys, uh, I got a
thing I gotta go take care ofreal quick, or?
Speaker 3 (21:55):
I know I gotta talk
to a guy about a cat.
Um, no, and actually we've kindof been adventuring for a while
for the past year.
So I'd say you know we're, um,he's meeting up with this group
to kind of go on whatever ournext adventure might be.
And after our previous one, um,he went off and did a couple of
jobs for, uh, the tower or kindof you know, kept in the good
graces of um you know of of themand has returned back to this
(22:20):
group to then go, you know, offfor a period of time, but at
some point he will have toreturn to the bounties Again.
Being a bounty hunter is kindof like a contractor you pick
and choose the ones that youwant.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Yeah, I was going to
ask a follow-up question, more
of a freelance relationship.
So you're kind of a knownentity but probably not trusted.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Fully.
Yeah, but I do have everybody.
I mean the relationship betweenhim and his mother.
I don't think is is a closelyguarded secret and it's one that
he he very much protectsbecause he knows that if he ever
got uncovered that his mother'slife would be in jeopardy.
But she is also helping him.
Speaker 5 (22:59):
So there's that I
thought Justin had a question.
Did somebody answer it?
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Yeah, I did.
There's that I thought justinhad a question or did somebody
answer it?
Yeah, I did.
It wasn't super related andit's really not helpful to what
we're doing.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
So what's your
question?
Speaker 4 (23:11):
go for it man, go
ahead, man.
Uh well, my question wasunfairly who amongst your party
are you most closely, you feellike your best friends with so
far?
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Does anybody want to
say that their character was
once hunted by the tower andDane helped them escape?
Speaker 2 (23:34):
I mean that's like
literally.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
That's basically
Quill's backstory.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
Pretty sure everybody
has been hunted by the tower,
but that doesn't fit mybackstory that you helped me
escape.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
As long as it's
within recent memory, the last
few years, I guess it makessense that Quill would have or
hell.
You probably helped Cal come upwith the Quill persona as a way
to hide him.
There we go, or could have ifyou would like.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Yes, and he drove
that persona off his own
personality.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
So, yes, and Matty, I
have a question for you.
So is Quill or not Quill?
Speaker 3 (24:22):
I'm sorry, I can't
answer questions about Quill,
but I'll answer all thequestions about Dane.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Dane.
Is Dane looking at this partyof his to help him overthrow the
tower, or is it more?
This is a match of convenienceat the time.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
More of a match of
convenience.
I think he knows that if heneeds help and assistance in
hiding an individual or gettingthem out of an area, that these
are people that he can go to.
We still have to hear aboutJustin and Glenn, but I think
what I know so far about theircharacters, that would align.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
Glenn's not part of
this story.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
Oh, I'm sorry, Zane
Zane, I read Glenn, because it
says it right there.
Speaker 5 (25:03):
It should say both
yeah it does it does.
Speaker 6 (25:06):
He didn't want to
give up his spot on video as the
number three person, so headded Zane to the end of it.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Anything else for
Dane?
Speaker 5 (25:16):
I apologize.
What does he look like?
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Brandon.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
Okay, oh, that's
right.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
Red beard, he's half
elf Brandon with pointy ears.
Okay, oh, that's right, redbeard, he's half elf Brandon
with pointy ears.
So if Brandon was going todress up in cosplay and go to a
renaissance fair or something, that'd pretty much be what
Daniel would be.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
I'll send you a photo
.
I have that picture.
Speaker 5 (25:34):
I was just going to
say so.
If Brandon, that is a race, Iwould never attribute to Brandon
a half elf.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
He's a little buff
and Half-elf, half what True
Half-elf?
Half giant.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
That is racist of me
to assume the other half is
always human.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
He's a half-elf half
beefcake, but he presents as
like Can anybody be a full elfin D&D?
How come it's always half-elves?
Why isn't there ever going tobe a full elf?
I'm a full elf in D&D.
How come?
Speaker 4 (26:06):
it's always half
elves.
Why isn't there ever going tobe a full elf?
I'm a full elf.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
What does mean full
elf?
Oh, okay.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
Nines is a full elf.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
Yeah, what are?
Speaker 3 (26:12):
you talking about.
So is more.
I thought you said.
I thought you guys said theywere.
I thought not mores.
And nines were half elves.
Speaker 5 (26:20):
No, I don't.
Glen was the only half-elf.
Okay, never mind.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
So yeah, apparently
there can be.
You know, a simple yes wouldhave been sufficient.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
That doesn't work
with this group.
We all know that.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
But not nearly as fun
it is.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Nearly as fun.
Almost stupid you are right.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
How are we all going
to know that you're stupid,
unless we?
Speaker 3 (26:38):
say it, unless we all
say it.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
You know it's funny,
maddie.
After we talked earlier I I gotup maddie called me and asked
me what a utility item was andto help figure out something
like that.
And after I I went back intothe super bowl party.
I was at.
It's like, babe, you're nevergonna believe this.
Maddie didn't know what autility item was and she looked
at me like I had a dick grownout of my head.
She's like I don't.
What do you want me to sayright now?
Speaker 5 (27:02):
Can you coach me on
the snarky response?
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Anything else for
Dane?
No, we're good.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Zane.
Speaker 5 (27:17):
All right, zane
Umberlight.
He is a half-orc warlock.
So his description he has grayskin, gray eyes, jet black hair.
He's about 6'4 or so tall, 230pounds.
(27:39):
He's battle-scarred.
He looks like he's been in afight or two throughout his life
.
It's about 20 ish, 18 to 20years old, somewhere in there.
Um, he doesn't really know.
Um, he was from differentthings and interactions you've
seen him get in throughout yourtravel times together.
(28:00):
He's familiar with theunderground, like the, the seedy
, underbelly, the, the crimeareas.
He's familiar with it and seemslike he can uh kind of flow
through those things and andcarry on conversations and hold
his own in that type ofenvironment.
But also he seems to befamiliar and able to hold his
(28:26):
own when dealing with towerofficials.
You know for a fact that he hasgone on missions to do things
for them.
But he's very guarded on whatthose missions are and you can
tell when he comes back thathe's not super happy with the
(28:47):
missions that he's been sent on,what he's had to do, but but he
doesn't really talk about itand he kind of avoids the
subject when he, you know, whenit's brought up he's it's like
he's not proud of it.
But he understands that it'ssomething that he has to do.
(29:13):
Like I said, he's very kind ofsubdued.
He talks, he's not silent oranything like that, but he's
very subdued and he kind ofdoesn't really like having to do
the tower's bidding.
That's it.
He wears like not ornate butvery spiky leather armor that
(29:36):
has, like, looks like it's puttogether very well, put together
very well, and when you see him, um, when you see him fight,
you see him like his sword kindof slowly or slowly extracts out
of his hand, and when it'scoming out of his hand it shows
that it's like a jet black longsword with runes and everything
(29:58):
on it.
Um, but uh, when it's come, whenit's appearing in his hand, it
looks like, um, if you look athis face, his facial expression,
it looks like it is painful forhim to pull this weapon, for
this weapon to be conjured.
It looks like it's coming outof his arm, out of his hand,
into or out of from his arm, through his hand, into his hand
(30:21):
for him to use it.
And I think that's it.
You've seen him on numerousoccasions as he's blending in
with crowds and stuff.
You see him kind of his facechanges occasionally like not
drastic but small changes, likehis eyes will get a little bit
(30:43):
bigger, his ears will get alittle bit bigger, his ears will
get a little smaller, his teethwill grow a little bit, um, but
but that's him.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
I'm excited to see
you play a subdued character
yeah, um, me too.
Speaker 5 (31:00):
Um, so he, uh, you
have heard him talk about.
You've heard the name.
Oh, I wrote it down but I can'tremember it.
Hang on, oh, lyra.
You've heard him say the nameLyra, but anytime he's
questioned on it he kind ofbacks away and kind of withdraws
(31:20):
okay, any questions for Zane?
Speaker 2 (31:28):
Yep, god damn it.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
Justin, who does Zane
like in the party?
Speaker 5 (31:33):
So I would say he
most likely is very close with
Nelvax.
No, I'm just kidding, I wouldsay most likely with Dane,
because of similar things goingon.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
Aren't we all a bunch
of sub dudes?
Speaker 2 (31:54):
No, Brandon's not.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
Being friendly with
Dane is really there's not a
whole lot of difference betweenbeing friendly and being
dismissive.
Not dismissive, distant,Passive.
Yeah, he's kind of, like I said, subdued, but he has a lot in
common with Dane.
Except for that whole helpingpeople get away alive thing.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Any other questions?
For Zane?
Okay, and finally Nelvax, andwe're done right, I'm just
kidding.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
Make a shadow.
Nelvax is forgotten.
Yeah, so Nelvax.
Nelvax is a human monk, he is awarrior of shadows.
So mechanically speaking he's awarrior of shadows.
So he's very sneaky and youknow punches good.
As far as personality goes, helike outside of combat, outside
(32:54):
of work, he's kind of a partyboy.
He wants to drink, he wants tomeet and talk to girls, he wants
to try whatever illicitsubstances are available to him.
He's looking to just enjoy hislife as best as he can and just
make the best of it.
Over the year that we've beentogether, you guys have learned
that this kind of comes from afairly unpleasant past.
(33:18):
His monastery was burned to theground and only he and his
brother escaped, and his brotherkind of keeps him on the
straight and narrow.
His brother told me tin Tom Tomwas in shit.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
I remember I heard
right here that's a whiskey,
it's a was it burned to theground by blue orcs?
Speaker 4 (33:41):
it was all my bed,
not a whiskey it was.
So Tomozal has much more of afocus on trying to understand
what happened to his backgroundand Nelvax is more just still
alive.
Let's enjoy it while we can.
He has become a prominentmember in the local thieves
guild through his monkly shadowabilities, so he comes into
(34:04):
money pretty easily because he'spretty good at what he does,
and then he spends it, uh,quickly and extravagantly.
Um, he, you know he's notreally looking towards the
future at all.
It's just living as best as hecan while he can.
Uh, something you guys knowabout him is that while he's on
(34:24):
a job is that he's all about thejob and it almost is a very
different personality, like whenhe's on it he's he's very
focused, he's very into it andnot much distracts him from it,
but otherwise he's just lookingto have a good time.
His brother does, like Imentioned, kind of pull him
straight and narrow.
So when his brother pops infrom time to time with some
(34:45):
leads on what might havehappened to the monastery, which
is kind of like his brother'sfixation to figure out who and
why their monastery was raised,it does bring a little bit of
seriousness to his life, but hehasn't really committed himself
to the same kind of search.
New beer, new ladies that'skind of his forte for the most
(35:11):
part.
Brandon has a question Go?
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Does Nelvax spend his
money only on him, or does he
consider his party like friends?
Will he spend his money on hisfriends as well, or is it just
him mostly?
No, as far as his money on hisfriends as well, or is it just
him mostly?
Speaker 4 (35:26):
no, as far as his
money will take him like, a good
time is only better with yourcompanions.
So he's come to really careabout all the, the, the four of
his buddies and whoever iswilling to come and do the.
Whatever he's doing, he is morethan happy to throw his money
at it and try to make sure thatthey're enjoying it as much as
he is.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Um, I don't know how
willing they are to join him,
but hey, you want to do a lineof blow off the hookers behind
yeah, you got to come out ofyour armor for this, but it's a
good time you know, justin, thisis probably.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
I've seen you play a
lot of characters.
I think this is the closestcharacter to you that I've ever
seen you play.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
I don't think that's
true.
This is a full-on self-insertHold on.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
I don't know how to
take that.
Speaker 5 (36:16):
So Zane will go with
you and not necessarily partake
in the hedonistic lifestyle, buthe will come with you and watch
you.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
As his face slowly
changes and morphs while he's
watching.
Speaker 5 (36:37):
And the sword keeps
coming out of his hand.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
Zane, you're
lip-sticking again.
Black rocket, black rocket,zane, you're lip-sticking again
Black Rocket, black Rocket.
Any questions for Nelvax?
Speaker 5 (36:53):
Bill.
So of any of the party, whowould you think that he's most
friendly with?
Speaker 4 (36:59):
That's a good
question.
I was thinking about that thewhole time Since I've been
asking that question.
No one would ever ask that back.
It seems kind of like Xaniferis the most openly friendly
person towards people, towardshaving a relationship with
people and just hanging out andhaving a good time.
(37:20):
But I could be wrong.
I've not really met yourcharacters yet.
Speaker 6 (37:25):
No, you're 100% spot
on with Xaniver.
He'd go in and do some shadyshit with you as long as it led
to a good time.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
Well, it's all above
board.
Just don't ask the wrongquestions.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
Any other questions
for?
Speaker 1 (37:43):
Nelvax, would you say
your brother's name was Tomazal
?
Tomazal T-O-M-A-Z-A-L is thatan SSRI?
Speaker 4 (37:58):
probably yeah, with
the way the market is alright,
I'm sorry that was a drugs joke.
Yeah, no Big fun.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
The way everybody
else is quiet.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Nothing, man, I'm
sorry you said that and I'm like
.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
Sounds like a bunch
of prescription drugs.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Oh, is this a
learning moment from a D&D story
?
Yeah, it's a selectiveserotonin reuptake inhibitor
commonly used for depression andanxiety perfect, and this has
been a learning moment from adnd story.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
So if you're honest,
ask your doctor if tomazol is
right for you my godunfortunately, in this campaign
I don't think tomozal is goingto have that effect.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
So I did, I embedded
him as a hook for brandon to get
, um, nelvax back into the loopto care about something, because
if tomozal cares aboutsomething, nelvax will care
about something.
So that's kind of like my yeah,my reel for brandon to.
That's exactly what like myreel for Brandon to yoink me.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
That's exactly what I
thought Tomizal would do make
you care again.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
Yeah, exactly, forget
about not caring about anything
.
This will really make you careabout something.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
Man, these are pretty
fire depression jokes guys.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
You're just not
reacting Chicken every day, or
else you might miss out.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
Come to find out his
brother doesn't actually exist.
It's just a bag of pills in hispocket hey spoilers.
Speaker 4 (39:28):
Come on, man.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
He tells everybody.
This is what my brother told me.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
No, my brother helped
me out, it was okay, all right,
any questions for anybody thatwe haven't covered.
Speaker 6 (39:43):
So how often would we
have seen your brother over the
course of the last year?
So would we be familiar withthem, would we be friendly with
them?
I mean, how often does he showup and kind of realign you?
Speaker 4 (39:56):
Cool.
So I didn't talk to Brandon toomuch about this.
But my vision of Tomozal isthat as much as Nelvax, my
character doesn't give a shitabout the world, anything
outside of his own well-beingand the few people he cares
about.
Uh, tomas all gives uh hiswhole life towards trying to
figure out what happened.
Like why would somebody comeburn down their monastery?
(40:18):
Um, tomas, all's not a way ofshadows monk.
Um, so they kind of grew up onthe streets together and they
took what they knew from themonastery.
So they kind of grew up on thestreets together and they took
what they knew from themonastery and like kind of grew
into their own style.
And while nelvex kind of grewinto the shadows and the
sneakery and like made himreally excel in the thieves
guild, tomas all ended upbecoming a way of the elements
(40:40):
monk which by most standardswould be very mage-like.
He's able to conjure lightningand fire and ice through his
physical manifestation of hisown ki and energy and life
essence.
During his investigations, something had led him to the
(41:02):
tower.
Is the right word right, brandon, correct?
So it led him to the tower.
But he right word, right, brandon, correct?
Uh, so he led him to the towerbut he couldn't pass the
entrance exams because he's notreally a full caster, he's a
half caster maybe, at bestprobably quarter caster is
probably closer for like a monthclass, uh.
So they didn't let him in,which made his superstitions, uh
, rise even more.
So he's been trying to likeinfiltrate and figure out what
(41:25):
kind of secrets they have, because he's kind of convinced
that they're behind the raising.
Whether that's true or not, whocan say so?
Every month, every two monthsor so, he pops up and he has
this new lead for us to follow, which may or may not end up in a
side quest for us to go throughif some of us aren't available
to go investigate a lead deadend or end up in a side quest
for us to go through if some ofus aren't available to go
investigate a lead dead end ornot.
(41:47):
Red herring or not, whatever.
So you guys would know of himand he's kind of a party pooper.
You know he's really intense,he's pretty sure that the world
is out to get him and the sky isfalling and he's real serious
all the time and he does meanwell.
But man, he is not a good time.
(42:08):
Like you don't want to drink abeer with this dude?
Uh, because he's going to starttelling you about all the
conspiracies that the governmentis doing to you, and he may not
be wrong this is a question forbrandon.
Speaker 5 (42:21):
Did you think that
the entire party was going to be
against the tower?
Speaker 2 (42:27):
Absolutely.
Come on, guys.
Speaker 5 (42:29):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
If one of you was
favorable towards the tower
based off what I told you, Iwould have been extremely
surprised.
Speaker 3 (42:37):
Or if we all were.
Speaker 2 (42:39):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (42:41):
I would have bought a
lottery ticket.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
Let's kill those
magic users any of you know
where we can find a wizard thatlives in a tree oh yeah, he's
over in Bayram Grove look, thatwas a different timeline but it
(43:05):
was like the quintessentialMoors moment.
Speaker 4 (43:09):
I'm sorry, I play my
characters.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
Sweet.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
See how Novak does.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
Alright, so, like I
mentioned, you guys are in the
Lucky Leap Tavern.
This is the bar you tend tocongregate at when you're in the
main city of HonardburgO-N-A-D-B-Y-R, and it's the main
(43:38):
taproom.
It's normally a pretty crowdedplace, especially on nights and
weekends.
You know the bartender, rickyO'Tayne.
He is an elderly human male whoowns this.
He comes from a rich familybackground.
You guys have heard his storyplenty of times and this is his
(44:00):
most recent establishment to tryto get him to retirement age so
he can go purchase a bit ofland outside of the city and get
away from city life.
Rikio Tane, r-i-c-i-o, t-a-n-e.
So he named this the Lucky Leapbecause Rikio came up with a
(44:22):
game where, if you can, from arunning leap and jumping at the
doorway, anybody who can jumpfrom the door step after a
running start and get a certaindistance gets a free drink,
depending on how far they land.
The distances are 10, 15, 20,25 and a 30 foot marker.
It's a game that the crowd orthe patrons of the bar know very
(44:46):
well.
Uh, you guys have seen plentyof people play that as well.
Um, and anybody can play it atany time, as long as Riccio is
there to see it, you are all atthe one of the main tables.
There are four main tables inthe center and there are some
booths off to the side.
Uh, you know, there are a setof laboratories on the east side
of the building and the bar ison the west side of the building
(45:08):
.
The bar is well maintained.
Like I said, riccio does comefrom some money, so he's got
some of the better wines, betterwhiskeys, he's got some beer as
well to appeal to the commonfolk of the area.
And you guys, like I said, you've been here plenty of times
.
You're well known in this bar, especially the party boy.
(45:32):
Especially the party boy.
Hey.
Speaker 4 (45:39):
Doing what I can
Report the local economy, you
know.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
As he takes his shirt
off and starts dancing on a
table uh so it's a sorry, justin, it's an audio podcast you're
gonna have to describe what yournipples look like.
Speaker 4 (45:56):
Sorry, I'll try to
hit my clothes off louder next
time.
Perfect, so you can really hearthe ruffling of the shirt
against my dry skin.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
That'd be nice.
So, as you're all sitting aroundenjoying your favorite pint of
ale, wine and or whiskey, yousee, walking into the door is
Lorne Seinmonder.
You all recognize him almostimmediately.
He is the much respected royalcourt lord protector of the
(46:29):
crown, and so he is the captainof the crown protections, crown
protectors, and so he's wellknown, he's well respected, even
the commoners and enjoy hiscompany.
And so he walks in andimmediately walks over to one of
the side booths where, um, asmall halfling uh, is sitting
(46:51):
there and you, you can overheartheir conversation.
They're speaking loudly.
The halfling is is saying, issaying oh, yes, I've, I have, I
have what you were, you wereasking me about.
And he reaches into his sidepocket and pulls out this
extremely colorful large featherand he reaches it across the
(47:13):
table.
He's handling it very gentlyand he hands it to lord sign
fonder, and the lord takes itand he says oh, this is gorgeous
.
I've been looking for somethinglike this for so long.
How much did you want for it?
Well, I, 600 gold pieces.
(47:35):
I can't really go any lowerthan this.
Of course, you know, I have myown debts, I need to pay my lord
, but I can't go any lower than600.
600 is far too much.
I can't go any lower than 600.
600 is far too much, I can't gothat high.
And they go back and forthhaggling for a few minutes and
they settle on and the halflingsays the lowest I can go is 535
(47:59):
gold pieces, not a copper less.
I do, of course, have sevenchildren to feed and some
significant debts to settle, soI am sorry, Five hundred and
thirty-five gold pieces, not acent lower.
So after a few moments, lordSign very reluctantly takes this
feather and hands it back tothe halfling and he says as much
(48:23):
as I have been looking for akodal feather, I, there's
nothing, I, I, I cannot affordthat.
I of course have children of myown and they need to eat.
So, uh, feeding them a featherwouldn't go well for us.
And they shake hands and hepoints to the bartender, rickio,
(48:43):
and rickio nods at him and hewalks out.
I'm just setting the sceneright now.
So if there's anything you guyswant to do, feel free.
If you want to grab a drink, want to talk, go for it.
Speaker 4 (48:53):
Would we know what
kind of creature a Kotal feather
belongs to?
Speaker 2 (48:58):
Yes, it is very well
known among all of you what a
Kotal is.
Kotals are Kotals and Kotalfeathers are very prized in this
region because a Kotal was oneof the.
A Kotal teamed up with thehumans during the age of the
Dark Sign to overthrow thatrealm and we'll get into that a
(49:21):
little bit later.
But basically it was a verydark period for human society
where they were ruled over bydark angels and a Kodal teamed
up with the human resistance tooverthrow that ring.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
You mentioned the
gentleman requesting the feather
was from.
He is the captain of the LordProtectorate.
Speaker 2 (49:43):
So it's like a yeah,
he is the captain, he is the
captain of the lord protectoratelord protect, so it's like a
royal family of the area yeah,so they're.
They're a specific section, uhsanction of the guards that uh
protects royal family memberswhat is the royal family's
association with the tower?
Speaker 3 (50:00):
uh, good, bad, like
completely separate
organizations.
Speaker 2 (50:05):
The tower runs itself
, but the king what's the word
I'm looking for?
The king backs it up basically.
Not oversees it, but the kingbacks it, supplies it with any
kind of resources it needs thatkind of deal.
Speaker 3 (50:18):
Allows the tower to
exist.
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
There is a lot of
lore guys in this, but I promise
it's much needed.
That's fine.
Any other questions you allhave?
Brandon, I know I'm infodumping right now.
Speaker 1 (50:34):
I'm just trying to
keep up.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
You're muted, Andrew.
Speaker 6 (50:38):
Are we currently
between jobs or do we have
something that we're currentlyworking on?
Speaker 2 (50:42):
No, you are currently
between jobs.
You have not been givenanything for a while.
Okay, so Lord Mondur walks outand then after, go ahead, bill.
Speaker 5 (50:55):
So is it safe to say
that each of the party members
will separate out and go dostuff on their own and then we
come together to do stuff andthen we go out on our?
Is that kind of the cadenceover the last year or so?
Speaker 3 (51:11):
Dane has just
returned from such a venture.
Speaker 2 (51:14):
Yeah, I would say you
all have your own individual
missions that you've got to goon downtime.
Yeah, stuff, you know me, Ibuild campaigns with a lot of
downtime in it, so yeah you do.
You do Listen, I acknowledge myown weaknesses, all right.
So after a few moments, lordMondor, lord Mondor walks out
(51:39):
and after a few minutes, um, alarge a bug bear walks in, and
um, dane, not Dane minutes.
Um, a large bugbear walks inand um, dane, not dane.
I'm sorry, nelvax.
Nelvax, you recognize golfabecause he is the head of a
(51:59):
large gambling um, a largegambling facility in in in the
town called the Triple Nine.
And so Golfo walks over to thehalfling and you hear him start
to raise his voice towards thehalfling and he's yelling at him
.
I told you for the last time, raphok, if you don't pay me back
(52:22):
for what I'm owed, bad thingswill happen to you.
I will get my debt from you oneway or another.
Speaker 4 (52:29):
And he seemingly very
emotional, he knocks a lantern
over and it engulfs the featherthat is on the table uh, having
seen that, could I be closeenough to try to catch that and
like the lantern from knockingit over as soon as I see this
aggressive demeanor coming in,can I be close enough to try to
(52:50):
de-escalate and just keep thingscool, all friends.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
No, this is about 15
feet from you.
Speaker 4 (52:58):
Novaks would at least
be up on his feet as soon as
the aggression really started.
Having known this bugbear, Iwant to go over and try to keep
him from hurting somebody wellam I able to use my invisible
hand to snatch the featherbefore?
Speaker 3 (53:13):
okay, got it.
Brandon wants to feather theburn feather needs to burn right
, so.
Speaker 2 (53:23):
So gola looks at you
it's going to take me a minute
to get all your names down.
Gulfa looks at you, Nelvax, asyou're walking over, and you see
him smirk a little bit and hesays I'll see you soon, Nelvax,
and he looks one more time veryangrily at the halfling and
starts to walk away.
Speaker 4 (53:43):
I can't wait.
Nelvax, did you owe him moneyme?
No, I don't think so.
Um, he seemed to be upset aboutthis.
Speaker 6 (53:58):
Uh, this halfling or
gnome or whatever this is over
here, but why?
Why will he be seeing you?
That's a bit concerning, isn'tit?
Speaker 4 (54:03):
no, that's a good
question.
I I keep pretty good control ofmy affairs.
Can I uh like check that toknow, like, is that it's an idle
threat or do I owe himsomething?
Speaker 5 (54:12):
or you just gotta go
to the bar yeah, you've talked
to.
Speaker 2 (54:15):
You've talked to golf
plenty of times.
You don't owe him any money,he's just you're.
You're a normal patron of hisOf the triple nine and so he's
used to seeing you.
He knows that when you're inthere he's going to get a lot of
money.
Speaker 4 (54:30):
Well.
Speaker 2 (54:32):
I resent that, but
also I represent that.
Speaker 4 (54:35):
Yeah, also Also.
My money goes away.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
So that's funny.
Before I even found out aboutthe gambling thing, I already
had this triple nine thing builtin, so it's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (54:52):
Look, I'm good at
what I do, so I can spend a lot
of money.
Speaker 2 (54:54):
All right, okay, part
of the process.
Uh, yeah, so the halfling isjust overwhelmed.
He's, he's crying openly in hisbooth and uh, he's he's trying
to pull the ashes back togetherin a pile and he's just pitiful
so this bugbear just burnt upthis 600 gold piece feather that
(55:15):
the halfling was planning onusing to get himself out of debt
correct?
I just realized.
Did I actually describe to youwhat a kodal was?
Speaker 4 (55:27):
I asked about it, but
you, I apologize, describe to
you what a Kotal was.
Speaker 2 (55:28):
No, I asked about it,
but you.
I apologize, I went into thelore because I was excited about
that.
So, a Kotal, you can think ofthem as winged serpents, so
they're typically verybenevolent, virtuous-natured
creatures and they tend to seethe good in everybody.
But they do have their wings, have beautiful feathers on both
(55:51):
sides of their bodies and theytypically help humans and other
good aligned creatures.
The largest of these creaturescan reach up to 1,500 pounds, so
they're large creatures.
Speaker 4 (56:11):
Am I familiar with
the halfling who's under duress
currently?
Speaker 2 (56:15):
You have not seen
this halfling before, so just to
kind of orient myself on this.
Speaker 1 (56:22):
This is unwarranted,
this is like some sideways shit.
Right, we should all be kind oflike yo, what the fuck?
Yeah, I'd say like currents andit's not a common occurrence
yeah, rikio.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
Yeah, this is not a
common occurrence.
Rikio is alarmed.
You see him reach behind himfor like a large club, ready to
protect his bar type of deal, but as soon as Gopher leaves, he
comes over the rag and startscleaning up the mess.
Him for a large club, ready toprotect his bar type of deal,
but as soon as Golpha leaves, hecomes over with a rag and
starts cleaning up the mess.
That Golpha, that's on thishalfling's table.
Speaker 4 (56:56):
Then the Nelvax will
approach Golpha, not Golpha, who
is not friendly with him.
What's the halfling's nameagain?
Speaker 2 (57:04):
You did hear it
briefly, but his name is Rafolk.
Speaker 4 (57:08):
Rafolk, raffolk, all
right, so after Gopher leaves,
nelvax will, like, with genuineconcern on his face, go up to
Raffolk like hey, do you want tocome sit down and tell us
what's going on?
It seems like you're in kind ofa tough spot.
Maybe we can help you out.
And he does make like.
(57:28):
He makes like trying to impress, like for price.
He's suggesting but not saying.
Speaker 1 (57:37):
Uh, uh, quill will
step in with.
Uh, let's see how's Quill goingto sound in his armor.
Oh, what my friend is trying tosay is we can.
What my friend is trying to sayis that we'll help you out if
you make it worth our while.
(57:58):
Maybe you got some more ofthose feathers somewhere.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
At the mention of the
feather, the halfling just
breaks down again and startscrying feather.
The halfling just breaks downagain and starts crying um,
rickio comes over with a largemug of something and hands it to
the halfling and and helpsguide him over to your table.
And uh, he points at, at daneand uh, he says you know?
He says to the the halflingthese, these ventures are,
(58:27):
they're, they're well knownwithin the city.
If anybody can help you, theyall can.
Please explain to them what youneed.
Speaker 3 (58:34):
I love that we're
trying to get money out of the
person that's trying to getmoney to pay for some serious
stuff.
But hey, that's cool.
Speaker 5 (58:42):
Pay his debts and pay
for his kids' food.
I mean, what do we venture into?
I don't know what to tell you,man.
Speaker 4 (58:48):
Nothing's free.
Speaker 1 (58:51):
Quill will order a
round for the table while we
hear his tale of woe.
Speaker 3 (58:57):
Dane's just very much
sitting back with his feet up
on the table.
He understands there's aninjustice going on here, but
it's not his injustice to solvecurrently.
So he's just kind of observingeverything that's going on here,
but it's not his injustice tosolve currently.
So he's just kind of observingeverything that's going on.
Speaker 2 (59:09):
Okay, what about Zane
and Xanover?
How are you guys reacting tothis?
Speaker 5 (59:14):
So Zane doesn't like
the fact that this bugbear burnt
up this other guy's stuff andkind of doesn't understand why
somebody would destroy somethingof value when that person owes
them money.
It just doesn't make any sense.
But is willing to listen to thethings the halflings Raffelk
(59:43):
yeah, raffelk Listen toRaffelk's story and if there's
something he could do to help hewouldn't be opposed to it.
But he's definitely gotinterests in other directions
because it doesn't seem likethis has anything to do with his
prime motivator right now okay.
Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
So the halfling,
after a few minutes, starts to
calm down and he begins to tellyou all that I've only had.
This was a family heirloom.
I've only had two of them.
My grandmother has the otherone and if I don't pay back my
(01:00:29):
debt to Gopher he's surely goingto maim or even kill me.
I mean, surely you know whathe's like?
And he looks over towardsNelvax.
Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
Do I have a
background on him?
On Gopher?
Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
Do I know more about
him than yes, yeah, you know,
first roll the campaign.
Give it to me, history check.
Speaker 4 (01:00:50):
History check.
Yeah, monks, traditionally verygood at history, very good at
history.
That's an 11 plus zero for 11.
Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
So you have heard
that Golpha is very.
Speaker 3 (01:01:01):
I just want to say
this I would like to cast my
guidance so with a flick of afinger.
I would like to cast myguidance with a flick of a
finger.
I will allow you to add a 1d4to an ability check.
Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
That's a 15 now.
Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
Okay, all right.
So you know that Golfe is verybusiness oriented and if
somebody tries to sidestep hisprocess or his business, he is
going to come at you witheverything he's got.
He is not above hurting familymembers, or why are you
thumbsing up me?
Speaker 4 (01:01:37):
it's not you, it's
maddie.
I was thinking maddie for hisassistance, but he was eating
popcorn or something.
Speaker 3 (01:01:41):
So okay, I thought
you were thumbsing up the fact
that I spilled my popcorn okaymy slap uh.
So yeah, golfa is not abovegoing after family members,
going after loved ones.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Thumbs up the fact
that I spilled my popcorn all
over my lap.
So yeah, golpha is not abovegoing after family members,
going after loved ones, anythingto get his money back.
If you take money from him, heexpects you to pay it back and
he'll get it from you eitherthrough monetary or through
flesh.
He will take money or flesh.
Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
Nice.
Speaker 5 (01:02:07):
That's scary, but
he's not very intelligent as far
as destroying somebody'sability to make money.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
Yeah, he's a bugbear.
Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
He's a bugbear, he's
got a big one.
Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
I expected something
better from a protector of the
crown or whatever he is.
No, he.
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
That's a bugbear the
crown Lord Mondur is is not?
That's a bugbear.
The crown the Lord Mondur isthe protector.
He's a human.
He left already.
Speaker 4 (01:02:34):
He left?
Was he just an agent?
Oh, are there different peoplethen?
Speaker 2 (01:02:37):
They were different
people.
Speaker 4 (01:02:39):
Yeah, when you give
us these names.
Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
Do me a favor and
just like type them somewhere,
yeah, yeah, yeah, in chat orsomething, so that I can, so
that we're consistent at least.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Yep, I'm sorry, who
the fuck we're talking about?
I'll be better about that.
Speaker 4 (01:02:54):
That's probably my
confusion too, because I thought
that the bugbear was the crowndude, who also left.
Speaker 5 (01:03:00):
We've had four NPCs
named so far.
Speaker 1 (01:03:04):
Yeah, you're going
fast enough that it's hard to
keep up with all these names.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
Four NPCs and three
locations yes, combined with the
five of us and one majorhistorical event.
Speaker 5 (01:03:15):
Okay, and a mythical
creature.
Speaker 1 (01:03:19):
Yep and a partridge
in a pear tree.
Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
I just opened the
chat and saw that we're
alphabetized Hilarious, Okay.
I just put that in the chat andsaw that we're alphabetized
Hilarious.
Speaker 2 (01:03:31):
Okay, I just put that
in the chat.
Lord, mondur and Golpha.
Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:03:37):
Okay, cool.
So Lord Mondur turned down thefeather and left, and Golpha is
now here pressing on our littlehalfling friend Raffolk, because
he owes Gopher some amount ofdebt.
Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
Yes, that is correct,
okay.
Speaker 4 (01:03:59):
So could we get any
kind of read on how like Gopher
and Mondor are kind of relatedor like what their relationship
is?
Were they friendly Like wasMondor grudgingly working with
Gopher, or is it kind of relatedor like what their relationship
is?
Were they friendly like wasmonitor grudgingly working with
gopher?
Is it kind of a common, easyfeeling with them?
Speaker 2 (01:04:17):
they weren't here at
the same time.
Yes, so the guard I did explainthat the lord walked out right
and then you did.
Okay, yeah, I'm making sure Ididn't miss that I blended.
Speaker 4 (01:04:28):
I blended npcs.
I don't know who anybody is,yet I think I just okay, he
barely knows his own name.
Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
Dude, that's fair,
I'm a bad boy, I know.
I know this is a lot ofinformation, guys.
Please bear with me, it willall make sense I believe you,
I'm excited and I'll be betterabout putting that information
in our chat as well.
I I'm I may berecting from myprep for the first campaign that
we did, and we're actuallyrecording this time, so you know
that's a win.
Speaker 3 (01:04:55):
That's a big step up
in the right direction.
Speaker 5 (01:04:58):
Are we recording your
voice too?
Speaker 6 (01:04:59):
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
Speaker 5 (01:05:00):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (01:05:03):
Oh shit, I paused
Greg, no, no.
Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
Hey, that was a great
dry run, let's uh take it from
the top.
Speaker 2 (01:05:16):
Do it even better
this time, okay.
Does that answer your question,justin?
Yes, all right, all right.
So raffle continues.
To tell us, uh, to tell you, youknow yeah my family had two of
these feathers and it's from thesame kodal.
My grandmother has one of themand Granny she doesn't know I
(01:05:39):
took this one, but I owe someserious gold pieces and I
thought that if I could sellthis off, that I would have
enough to make sure that Grannyand I had a nice place to live
and everything.
I just I did too much and nowI'm regretting it.
I don't know this is a lot toask, but is there any way you
(01:06:05):
could come with me to go talk toGranny?
I mean you, I don't want to seeher by myself.
She scares the hell out of me.
I'm not going to lie here, guysQuill will kind of look around
in confusion.
Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
I'm sorry you're
talking about your own
grandmother.
Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
Yeah, she's fucking
scary guys.
Alright, so here's the deal,right?
My thought is that if we canconvince her to give us the
other feather, maybe, maybe Ican pay off my debt and I'll
give you the other feather andthen you can sell that and you
can make a profit off of it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:46):
Do you know what lord
maunder wanted the feather for?
Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
he's a collector of
of ancient artifacts.
He he was willing to buy it for450, but I couldn't go below
500.
But now I'm desperate.
So maybe if we sell, we buygranny's feather from her.
I can give you the feather, youcan go go to Lord Mondor and
sell it to him.
Speaker 4 (01:07:09):
Hmm, I suppose that's
not a bad option.
He kind of looks around at theother guys to see what they're
thinking.
Speaker 1 (01:07:16):
And just so we're
clear here you owe that guy
money and he burned your featherso that you can't pay him back
anymore.
I'm sorry, I'm sure you look'tpay him back anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
I'm sorry.
I'm sure you look like a verybright individual.
That was a bugbear he's notreally known for.
You know intelligence.
Speaker 1 (01:07:37):
Doesn't he run a
casino?
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
He is the proprietor,
but he doesn't really run it.
Speaker 1 (01:07:44):
I guess I don't know
what proprietor means then.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
I mean he's the owner
right, run it.
I guess I don't know whatproprietor means.
Then I mean he's the ownerright, but like he doesn't, run
it.
He's got other people for that.
Speaker 5 (01:07:57):
So your plan here
Okay, let me change.
So your plan here is to take afeather that you've already lost
one of, try to sell that one toget money.
So you're going to leave yourfamily with none of your
artifacts and you want us tosomehow go with you to talk to
(01:08:21):
your grandmother about this.
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
What good is an
heirloom if we're looking for
food every single day?
So?
Speaker 5 (01:08:30):
have you thought of
getting a job?
Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
Sounds like a lot of
work.
Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
Maybe you should tell
a child.
Speaker 6 (01:08:45):
I'm more interested
in understanding how you got a
200 gold marker without any sortof collateral.
Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
I did have collateral
.
It's the house, but I reallydon't want to make you know
Franny homeless.
Speaker 3 (01:09:02):
So you used the house
that isn't yours, as I think,
if you explain this to Granny, that she's either going to lose
her heirloom or her feather, shewill choose appropriately.
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
Listen, you all look
like very decent folks.
I know my request might soundcrazy, but trust me, there's no
other choice here.
Can you please help a halflingin trouble Please?
I'm in a pretty dire situationhere, guys.
Speaker 5 (01:09:35):
So Zane, at the
mention of you, look like pretty
decent folks.
Looks down at his black studdedleather armor and spikes Sure
Decent fellow.
Speaker 4 (01:09:54):
Maybe I don't
understand exactly what it is
that you're asking for from us.
Could you lay it out?
Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
Okay, here's my
thought.
We go to Granny, we buy thefeather from her.
We take that feather and gosell it to Lord Mondur.
He's willing to give me 450gold pieces for it.
So we buy the feather.
I've got the debt from buyingthe feather from Granny so I can
(01:10:24):
pay off Golpha.
You guys take the feather, gogive it to Lord Mondor.
You guys get 450 gold pieces.
Granny's gonna ask for 250.
That's 200 gold pieces thatyou're gonna net.
Doesn't this leave him notgetting anything out of this
deal.
Speaker 3 (01:10:41):
At least a halfling
with nothing.
Speaker 6 (01:10:44):
My friend, I've run
this scam before.
I will not be buying yourfeather to sell to someone whom
I do not have a contract withand I do not already have the
money in escrow.
I'm sorry, but your plan isflawed.
Find some other putts.
Speaker 5 (01:11:02):
Can't we just kill
this bugbear?
Speaker 6 (01:11:07):
We are more adept at
dealing with Gulfo than we are
dealing with this grandmother.
Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
Quill agrees yeah,
I'd like to knock him down a peg
or two.
And then he puts his hand overthe top of his mug of ale and
you hear slurping from inside ofhis helmet.
Speaker 4 (01:11:31):
Straw from inside of
his helmet.
Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
He's got a straw.
Speaker 5 (01:11:35):
So how favorably is
the city look upon this gambling
establishment?
Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
Favorably look upon
this gambling establishment?
Uh, favorably.
Um, I mean, you all know thatthis, this lucky or this, um,
this triple nine is.
It's not favorably looked upon.
But the guards tend to lookaway in the other direction
because of the amount of moneyit brings into the city.
Brings a lot of money.
Uh, golfa pays the city verywell to look the other way and
most people are okay with itbecause they don't do any kind
(01:12:13):
of outright crime per se, per seso what were the likelihood,
based on what we know?
Speaker 5 (01:12:24):
I mean, that was
probably Zane's first exposure
to the bugbear, yeah Gopher, yeah Gopher.
So he probably doesn't knowanything about it, but would he
think that he could convinceGopher that it is in Gopher's
best interest to kind of forgetabout that debt?
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
debt.
So zane knows that zelvaxnelvax nelvax is the only one at
this table that really knowsanything about golfa so you can
talk to him about it.
Speaker 5 (01:12:57):
Okay.
So zane will look at nelvax andsay, so do you think we could
convince him to kind of forgivethis debt?
I mean, I can be a prettyconvincing person.
Speaker 4 (01:13:13):
Well, you know, I can
be pretty convincing too, but
the question is why?
So we're talking under ourbreath, I assume, like we're
like sidebar, like behind ourhands doing you know like Yep,
why at least nobody else canreally hear us, unless they're
like super perceptive orsomething.
Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
Ratfolk is completely
memorized by Quill drinking
from his hand.
Right now he's not payingattention to anything you all
are saying.
Speaker 5 (01:13:41):
How about mesmerized?
Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
What did I say?
Speaker 5 (01:13:44):
Memorized.
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
No, he's remembering
every single moment of this
interaction, every gurgle ofthat moment, every fucking
gurgle, fuck you guys.
Speaker 4 (01:13:57):
I didn't say it.
I only tacked on.
Speaker 1 (01:14:00):
For real, though.
Like am I crazy, or does thisjust not make any sense?
Speaker 2 (01:14:06):
Right, it's a little
weird.
Speaker 1 (01:14:08):
Are we just focusing
on the wrong things here?
Speaker 5 (01:14:10):
We're probably
focusing on the wrong thing.
Speaker 4 (01:14:12):
No, I guess.
Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
You guys are good.
Speaker 4 (01:14:15):
Novaks is not Robin
Hood.
Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
Okay, so side table
real quick.
This is our sidebar.
Whatever you want to say, Ihave this going one of two ways.
Either one, you go to thegrandma's house.
Two, you go after golfa okay sowe'll choose option three yeah
yeah, no, facts isn't superinteresting.
Speaker 4 (01:14:35):
This doesn't sound
lucrative, uh, so I guess what
what novix is going to try toconvey back towards?
Uh, let me just make sure Ihave one second.
I have my notes over here.
Back to Zane is uh, in in thelike.
The gist of it is the bugbearis not gonna like move on his
position.
They, they owe him money.
(01:14:56):
Um, we have no horse in thisrace.
I'm not really sure why weshould care.
It doesn't seem like we canreally profit, it doesn't?
It doesn't make sense fromNelvax's perspective, like why
we should really get involvedbesides, like make this guy feel
better, like make him forgethis woes, like maybe if he
sweetened the deal a little bit, like Nelvax might be interested
(01:15:18):
in partaking, but as it stands, like there's no way for him to
benefit from this, and so Iguess what he'll say back is
bugbears aren't bugbears, aren'tbugbears aren't really well
known for changing their mindsand dollars.
Excuse me, gold owed is goldowed.
(01:15:38):
I don't think we can changethat and I don't know that we
have an angle here well, maybe, maybe we could take over his
establishment and you can partythere for free, golfa you think
(01:15:59):
we could take over the triplenines now?
that would be nice.
I don't think we can do it withjust one feather.
Speaker 5 (01:16:06):
Uh, no, who's talking
about feathers?
Speaker 4 (01:16:09):
I was talking about
removing golpha, You're pulling
towards the halfling.
Who's been talking about afeather?
Speaker 5 (01:16:16):
Oh well, that plan's
kind of garbage.
Speaker 4 (01:16:21):
But are you familiar
with the Triple Nines?
Uh, their facilities, Uh no, Iknow people, though.
Speaker 5 (01:16:26):
Actually, I probably
wouldn't be familiar with the
triple nines, their facilities.
No, I know people, thoughActually I probably wouldn't be
familiar with it.
He's part of the underworld, soI've heard rumors.
I know a little bit about it.
Speaker 4 (01:16:40):
Well, I can tell you,
I've sampled it a time or two
and it is a nice establishment.
It is well-maintained.
It is well maintained, it is.
He looks up to the ceiling fora minute while he thinks for the
right word to say.
He says it is a secureestablishment where everyone
should feel safe.
Speaker 5 (01:16:57):
If you can catch my
drift, I think I understand, so
I don't really know how we canhelp this person.
Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
Brandon, do you have
something Just to oh?
Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
okay, waiting for my
turn.
I'll speak up a little bit.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (01:17:15):
Once you say that
I'll speak up a little bit, I'll
drop my hand.
So I'm speaking towards thetable a little bit.
I think we could help, but Idon't know that our efforts
would be repaid sufficiently.
Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
Yeah, rathfolk will
speak up.
At that point He'll say but Idon't know that our efforts
would be repaid sufficiently.
Yeah, rathfolk will speak up.
At that point He'll say I'mwilling.
I almost went, freakingsomebody else, I almost went,
somebody else, I'm willing.
What else do you all need tosweeten the pot here?
Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
So what is?
I was curious what Brandon waswanting to say.
Oh yeah, uh, quill will say uh,you know, indicate that he's,
he's willing to go in there andand talk to golfa, because it is
kind of up that the guy justburned up what apparently is a
600 gold feather, or at least450.
450.
And just walked out.
(01:18:10):
So in my mind, golpha owesRafakir at least 450.
And so give us the extra 250,we'll call the deck cleared,
right, right, golpha, we alllike this.
It's a good deal for everyone, and so that's the sort of thing
that Quill will explain.
Speaker 4 (01:18:31):
Just not many words.
Yeah, Novak supports the figureat Quill and says like now,
that's a business model I canget behind, but I think Amnod's
in agreement, not sayinganything, but he agrees to the
logic.
He gestures back to ourhalfling friend and he says but
just, I'm not really sure whatyou're asking us to do.
(01:18:54):
I don't see how that benefitsus.
Speaker 2 (01:18:58):
Ratholc looks
absolutely terrified with the
mention of you taking on Golphadirectly.
Speaker 4 (01:19:04):
We don't, we're
concerned.
Speaker 2 (01:19:07):
But he says to you
all if you think you can get him
off of me, that's really whatit is At the end of the day.
I want to make sure Granny hasher house and I have my legs
they're so small.
Speaker 5 (01:19:25):
Yeah, I want to point
out that I was thinking in a
different character's mind andthought you have legs, but
that's not my character.
Speaker 3 (01:19:36):
There's not a lot of
legs here, guys.
Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
I want to keep what
I've got.
Speaker 1 (01:19:42):
Well, I think being
able to strike your debt from
the books and walk away to findsome other way to make money is
about as good as you're going toget.
Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
I'm good with that.
Do you guys?
Do you still want the featheryou should?
Speaker 1 (01:19:57):
probably stop trying
to give away your grandmother's
feather.
That's kind of fucked up.
Speaker 4 (01:20:01):
Does she know you're
trying to swindle her?
Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
Trust me, she's not
going to get swindled, she's
going to get her money.
Speaker 4 (01:20:09):
Okay, so let me cut
this straight.
Let me just recap to make surewe're on the same page.
You're looking to get some helpto get out from under Golpha
and give us the feather, and whodoes Golopher work for?
What kind of outfall would itbe from resolving this for you?
(01:20:33):
I'm not sure that we reallyhave a full picture of what's
going on.
Speaker 2 (01:20:37):
Gopher doesn't work
for anybody.
Speaker 1 (01:20:39):
Gopher's the top.
He owns his own casino.
Speaker 2 (01:20:42):
Yeah, he owns his own
casino.
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
And just does what he
wants.
That's slightly protected bythe government in this area or
the authority in this area.
Speaker 4 (01:20:51):
My mistake.
I assume there's somebody aboveBugbear in the business model.
Speaker 2 (01:20:57):
No, he owns it.
Speaker 4 (01:20:58):
There's a gleam of
profit now in Nelvax's eyes.
Speaker 3 (01:21:02):
Just a slight one.
This seems like a challengethat we would be worth taking on
.
I'm all for it, friends.
Speaker 1 (01:21:11):
Yeah we're all dead.
Yeah, I bet I could take thatbug there we could go off your
back.
Speaker 4 (01:21:17):
You give us a feather
, and then what exactly?
Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
Well, I mean, if my
debts are cleared, I don't
really, I guess I'll go.
And he looks over towards Zaneand he says I guess I'll go and
get a job.
Speaker 4 (01:21:39):
That sounds awful.
Speaker 2 (01:21:40):
I was like God, I
can't believe it.
Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
Out there someplace
in a small area that needs
cleaning.
You'd be perfect for the job.
Speaker 5 (01:21:49):
So just as a baseline
, like, what does a halfling and
a family of seven or whateveryou said?
What does that actually cost?
My frame of reference is like afew gold pieces a year is what
(01:22:10):
a commoner spends on foodComfortable is like five silver
a week or something right.
Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
Five silver a week is
comfortable.
Speaker 4 (01:22:18):
So we're, talking.
Speaker 5 (01:22:20):
That's comfortable
for adventurers For a month.
Commoners.
I thought it was like If acommoner would have like A rich
commoner would have a couple ofgold pieces.
Speaker 4 (01:22:34):
I think like five
gold a year is probably
reasonable.
Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
But I haven't mapped
it out when you're 200 gold and
dead.
So this guy just lost.
Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
That's a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:22:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:22:44):
He basically just
leveraged.
Speaker 5 (01:22:52):
He just leveraged
here.
He just leveraged a five yearsor whatever worth of freaking
income.
Speaker 2 (01:22:54):
The average commoner
makes between 15 and 20 gold
pieces a year 10 years worth,okay.
Speaker 4 (01:23:01):
so knowing that, I
don't know if you guys want to
speak up or if you want to letNelvax take the lead on this.
He's of the Thieves Guild.
He's not a very good dude, butif you don't stop him, he will
offer our services.
Zane's okay with it.
Speaker 5 (01:23:22):
Yeah, Zane's okay
with it.
We all are familiar withNelvax's leanings towards
gaining money and I'm guessingthat we're all okay with it yeah
, daniel, daniel, uh, kind ofsay you know to to the group.
Speaker 3 (01:23:38):
He's like I am more
than okay with going out and
tried to extort about 600 goldpieces from this gulta.
He clearly burnt up thatfeather he should pay for that.
Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
You went a little
Monty there, yeah, it was a
great accent.
Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
I told you your suit
is like the persona.
Speaker 5 (01:23:59):
So I mean, because
Zane's perspective is, as long
as he feels like it's marginallyfair, he's okay.
I mean it doesn't have to begreat.
He's not going to go freaking, fight a dragon to save a damsel
in distress or anything.
He's not going to go killsomebody for money.
That is a good person.
(01:24:20):
Might do it to a bad person, but yeah, he's kind of very,
very neutral.
Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
Okay, so what does
the party want to do?
Speaker 4 (01:24:35):
So Nelvax now has
like Eyes of Grandor At some
point.
I think maybe Dane mentioned orsorry, zane mentioned, zane,
dane, I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
Zaneane?
I don't know, we have a Zanelook, you guys are still gonna
quill these are not planned.
Speaker 5 (01:24:57):
Zane I think my name
on session zero.
Speaker 4 (01:25:00):
My name was set so
Zane, Zane are jumping us again
here.
Zanar Warlock mentioned takinghim out and then taking over the
establishment, which seems likea pretty simple task,
especially knowing that there'snobody above him.
Like there's nobody reallyquestioned who the boss is when
somebody shows up.
So whether we bully him intopaying us some protection money
(01:25:24):
to make sure that stuff likethis doesn't happen, or just
taking over right for him, thatall seems above board.
We can help this guy.
We can clearly get some favoron our stead with the feather to
like we give maybe Lord Mondora discounted rate on the feather
Once we we're going to havesome something of a stable
(01:25:45):
incoming coming from our triplenines.
Like if we force him to start, either like we displace him or
we start him paying us for ourbenefit, or like make that our
headquarters.
Whatever the case is, that'swhere nines is coming from,
Novaks is kind of coming from.
It's just that we could startour criminal empire right there,
(01:26:09):
okay.
Speaker 3 (01:26:11):
Dan will kind of
speak up and say whoa, whoa,
whoa.
I don't know if I'm really inthe business of running casinos
or or profiting from that, but Ido believe a disservice was
done here when he burnt up thefeather.
I think we could leave Granny'sfeather in her possession,
simply retrieve the destroyedfunds for the feather on behalf
(01:26:32):
of our halfling friend.
Paying off his debt andcollecting the rest for
ourselves Seems like a fair dealat the end of the day.
So I'll have to say Dane, wouldlike to not do anything with the
grandma, go to Galta, like tonot do anything with the grandma
, go to gulta, force him andwhatever needs necessary to pay
(01:26:53):
for the feather that hedestroyed.
Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
And then part of
paying of that is clearing the
dead at the halfling and thengiving us the rest of the money
rat folk looks at all of youvery confused and he's getting
agitated and he says, hey, hey,are you guys gonna help me?
Speaker 4 (01:27:06):
or not, we're working
on it.
Hold on now, little man.
Speaker 5 (01:27:12):
Yeah, we're just
determining how we're going to
help you.
So if you bring us the feather,we'll take care of your debt.
Speaker 2 (01:27:22):
No, not giving you
the feather until the debt's
taken care of.
Speaker 1 (01:27:27):
But if we take care
of the debt, don't we?
Speaker 2 (01:27:29):
You get the feather I
mean as long as we get paid.
Speaker 6 (01:27:37):
I think we'll make
sure that we get paid in the end
.
Yeah, guys.
Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
I'll show you where
Granny's house is.
I'm not trying to swindle youhere.
Speaker 3 (01:27:46):
I'm trying to swindle
Granny.
You already stole one featherfrom her.
Is that not enough?
Speaker 2 (01:27:54):
Stealing is such a
strong word.
Speaker 1 (01:27:59):
I'd more like to
consider it, bargaining,
permanently borrowing anddestroying.
Speaker 2 (01:28:04):
Okay, the destroying
thing wasn't me.
Speaker 3 (01:28:11):
That's not fair.
Well, I do believe a disservicewas done here when the feather
was destroyed and Golta shouldpay for that.
Outside of that, I see noconcern of mine.
Speaker 2 (01:28:19):
So you guys are going
to go take care of Golfa.
Speaker 3 (01:28:23):
Golta.
Speaker 1 (01:28:24):
Golfa yes, I think we
need to go have a conversation
with golfa gg alpha listen, refolk uh, what kind of
experience do you have uhrunning a gambling house?
Speaker 2 (01:28:41):
none, I'm 200 gold
pieces in debt.
Speaker 6 (01:28:44):
I I think he's not
good when it comes to gambling
or anything inside a gamblinghouse.
Speaker 5 (01:28:52):
I mean if we Zane
says, if we get control of the
triple nines, I can findsomebody to run it.
Speaker 1 (01:29:02):
We can't even get out
of this tavern.
Speaker 3 (01:29:04):
I don't know why
you're talking about controlling
a fucking casino Taking over acasino.
Speaker 2 (01:29:10):
And I know the
question of this is do we gain a
level?
No, you didn't leave thefucking table.
Speaker 4 (01:29:16):
We went to the table.
Come on, that's twice as manytables as we started with.
Speaker 3 (01:29:21):
Alright, guys, we
should just leave this feather.
There's really no point.
Speaker 4 (01:29:27):
Maybe we talk to
Gopher and see just how he feels
about this whole thing.
Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
I do believe we
should have a conversation with
Gopher.
Speaker 6 (01:29:37):
So it's settled.
Xanover will get up and startwalking towards the door.
Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
Dan will follow.
Let's go and Raffolk's left inmystery.
Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
What the hell is
happening here?
You hear Raffolk's left inmystery.
What the hell you hear Raffolksaying loudly to Riccio are they
going to help?
Speaker 4 (01:29:56):
Like what did they?
Speaker 1 (01:29:58):
decide.
Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
As Novak's leads to
Raffolk, raffolk's going to say
we don't know either.
Bud, we'll let you know when wefind out.
Speaker 5 (01:30:15):
So Zane will just get
up and follow Not say anything.
Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
Okay, all right, so
you guys are going to the You're
all going to the Triple Nine?
Speaker 4 (01:30:28):
Yeah, all right.
I think Novak leads the way heknows going to the triple nine.
Yeah, all right.
I think novak's leads the wayhe knows how to get there.
Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
yeah, okay all right,
so let's pull this up.
Honestly, I don't know why.
I didn't expect it, but Ididn't expect you guys to go
there this soon.
I was expecting you to do otherthings first.
Well, I mean, you just yelledat us for not leaving the table
so we left the table to go tothe casino soon.
Speaker 1 (01:30:47):
I was expecting you
to do other things first.
Well, I mean.
Speaker 5 (01:30:49):
You just yelled at us
for not leaving the table, so
we left the table to go to thecasino.
I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:30:56):
Oh, one thing I
wanted to point out is that the
reason I'm going for that, orusing that voice with Quill is
it's part of his disguise rightMagical enchantment to make him
sound different.
Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
Okay, I like it.
I like how there's a lot ofvoices in here.
Makes me happy.
Speaker 3 (01:31:14):
I'm trying really
hard not to sound like Monty.
Speaker 2 (01:31:17):
I know I have my
inspiration.
Every time you speak, I hear itcome out a little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:31:21):
So I'm trying not to
sound like Glenn, but
unfortunately, that's my voice.
Speaker 3 (01:31:25):
Glenn is your normal
voice.
Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
That's just Bill's
voice.
I have a bet on the side withAndrew about how long it's going
to take you to refer to justbeing Bill again.
Speaker 1 (01:31:36):
Being Glenn again,
yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:31:39):
Bill equals Glenn
yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:31:42):
Good point and I was
going to say something similar.
Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
All right.
So, yeah, nelvax, you knowexactly where this place is.
You're talking as you'releading the group over there and
as you approach, it's about a15-minute walk.
As you approach, you see atowering structure.
It's got gilded doors.
You see lanterns flickering onthe outside and they're changing
(01:32:11):
colors to capture people'sattention.
And you see a magical sign thatkeeps changing shape depending
on the viewer's desires.
And you know this because yourdesires change all the time.
They change very quickly andsometimes you see girls up there
, sometimes you see differentillegal substances, other times
you just see gambling and just aparty or booze.
(01:32:33):
Um, you do see a, a largeminotaur outside of the door.
Um, a, very he's, he'sextremely muscled and he's got a
great sword slinged on his back, um, and stands guard and he's
eyeing you as you approach.
Speaker 4 (01:32:51):
Am I familiar with
this particular minotaur.
Speaker 2 (01:32:54):
Yes, you are Hell
yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
When Dane looks up at
the sign, he wants to know what
he sees.
Speaker 4 (01:33:00):
Hell yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:33:03):
Bag of dicks.
Speaker 2 (01:33:05):
No.
Speaker 4 (01:33:08):
You didn't know so
many dicks could fit on a single
side.
Speaker 3 (01:33:11):
Here, sir, is your
plate of dicks.
Speaker 2 (01:33:14):
Yeah, Dane Dane, you
see a large glass of whiskey.
Speaker 5 (01:33:20):
What does Zane see?
Speaker 3 (01:33:23):
Around the room.
Speaker 2 (01:33:28):
Zane, you just see a
bunch of dice being thrown over
and over again pictures of yourmother jokes on you.
I didn't know my mother allright, so uh, yeah, nelvax, you
are very familiar with thisMinotaur.
You know he changed his name along time ago and he now goes by
(01:33:51):
Ferdinand Gamblehorn.
Speaker 4 (01:33:54):
Do I know him as
Ferdinand Gamblehorn, or am I a
little closer to him than that?
Speaker 2 (01:33:58):
Yeah, you call him
Ferd for short.
Speaker 4 (01:34:01):
So I'll go up to him
and I'll give him a fist bump.
It's like, hey Ferd, Excuse me,hey Ferd, Excuse me, hey Ferd,
How's it going?
I give him a fist bump and I'llgesture over my shoulder.
Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
These guys here with
me.
He reaches his hand out veryslowly, like he's afraid he's
going to break you, and he saysNovaks, and he eyes all of your
companions as they walk past him.
Speaker 4 (01:34:29):
Oh, let's say, what
do they call baby cows?
Calflings?
Is that what they're called?
Calfs?
Yes, yeah, calfs.
Is that what a Minotauroffspring would be called?
I don't really even know theright terminology.
Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
Yeah, yeah, we'll say
in this world yeah, minotaur
Halfling are called calfs.
Speaker 4 (01:34:41):
I'll give them just
enough time to keep them
distracted while the team walksin.
Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
How's the calfling
holding up?
Speaker 4 (01:34:49):
Oh Bullionaire Got
his first horn the other day.
First one, he's a little upsideit then, yet he keeps falling
to the right side.
You never forget those preciousmoments.
Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
He's a cute one.
I'll have to bring him bysometime.
Speaker 4 (01:35:06):
Oh man, I can't wait.
Hey, I look around and noticethat the guys have passed in
already.
Hey, I'll have to bring him bysometime.
Oh man, I can't wait.
Hey, I look around and noticethat the guys have passed in
already.
Hey, I'll slap him on theshoulder.
Hey, we got to catch up againsoon.
We got some business.
Yeah, you still owe me a drink.
Make it two and we'll call itsquare Deal, and then I'll
follow my gang in.
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:35:26):
Apparently a baby
Minotaur.
In Greek mythology is called anasterisk.
Really, the more you know.
Speaker 2 (01:35:34):
Okay, can you?
Speaker 4 (01:35:36):
tell us about the
inside of the club.
Speaker 2 (01:35:38):
I can.
So, yeah, you walk in and youcan feel just the hum of
activity around you.
You hear some cheering, somegroaning, just some groans of
defeat.
You hear some different coinsbeing passed around and you can
see that there is a VIP sectionwith some higher nobles in there
, but a lot of commoners are inthere just throwing copper
(01:35:58):
around.
You can.
The air is pretty thick withexotic perfumes, spiced wine,
and there's in the far corneryou can see what looks like a
grand staircase with the velvetcarpet that leads up to an upper
balcony and over see, overlooking that balcony, you do
(01:36:19):
see golfer there, um and uh infront of him, hanging over the
entire uh front or through theentire grand entrance.
You see this massive chandelierthat's got flickering, shifting
lights, and it does.
It kind of mirrors the emotionsof the room.
(01:36:39):
Every time there's a groan, yousee it turn like a dark green.
Every time there's a cheer, itturns white and it just kind of
helps with the emotions of theroom.
You also notice as you lookaround, there's no windows
anywhere.
The only entrance in or out isthe door in front of you.
That you can see.
But as soon as you walk in,night or day.
You just can't tell what it is.
(01:37:00):
Do you have a question, nelvax?
Speaker 4 (01:37:03):
Yeah, I had a
question about the overall feel.
Like the way you described it,I could see it going like one of
four ways.
I'm just trying to make sure Ihave the right like mental image
for this place.
Is it like star wars cantina?
Are we talking like modernstrip club?
We're talking like one thing ina frontier, like like weird
(01:37:24):
magic, like lots of wood andlike it's pretty run down and
just scraping by or kind of likea semi-lush Louisiana-style
steamboat cabaret All of those Ifeel like could fit from what
you said.
Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
I'm trying to get a
feel for what kind of yeah, so
it's separated into a coupledifferent areas, but it's
definitely a well-offestablishment.
You can tell that there's moneyput into this establishment and
there's a lot of money beingthrown around.
You can see that there's agaming floor.
They're playing Dragon's Dice.
You can see a Deck of Fatescard going on.
(01:37:59):
There's even a roulette wheelwith a big sign over it that
says the gold wheel there and acouple other card games being
played around.
You can see an area called theEnchanted Arena that, nelvex,
you know very well.
That's where one-on-one fightstake place without magic.
It's typically a brawler'sarena.
(01:38:20):
People place bets on a specificfighter and if a champion wins,
not only does the champion winbig, but also the people that
place bets on them.
Then there's a high rollerlounge up top where the VIPs are
and where Golfa is.
That's where the big money thegold, the platinum is spent.
And then you know, specificallybecause you've been invited
(01:38:44):
there, that there's a backroomarea as well where more
not-so-legal things happen.
Speaker 4 (01:38:52):
We don't talk about
that though.
Okay, so that with yourexpanded explanation, I feel
it's more like uh, louislouisiana wrote feeling well,
there's like a lot of big rooms,a lot of like smaller private
spaces, there's a lot of likegaudy showmanship going on.
Speaker 1 (01:39:15):
They're showing off
their wealth.
Okay, I assume the golfer'spretty easy to spot.
Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
He's staring over the
balcony.
He seems to be paying attentionto all the gaming and he sees
the fights going on.
He's just scanning the room Isthere an obvious way up to him.
There is a staircase.
They've got two bouncers at thefoot of the stairs.
Speaker 1 (01:39:38):
I'll kind of nudge
Nelvax and be like that way.
Speaker 4 (01:39:43):
So Quill's in his
armor currently, I presume yeah.
So you nudge Nelvax, He'll giveyou a nod, tap you on the
shoulder and just start walkingthat way.
Are these guards also familiarto Nelvax?
Speaker 2 (01:39:58):
You know both of them
.
One of them is a Warforged whoyou've never been able to get a
word out of, and another seemsto be some kind of magic user.
But the magic user you know, know, simply, is Ben Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:40:13):
So as I go up, I'll
this staircase, are we talking
like a big, like a dump sweeping, like grand staircase where it
like comes up?
Speaker 2 (01:40:22):
to the balcony.
It's a circular staircase thatgoes up.
Speaker 4 (01:40:26):
Okay, so is he all
the way at the top of this thing
?
Yeah, he's at the balcony atthe very top.
Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
Okay, so is he all
the way at the top of this thing
?
Yeah, he's at the balcony atthe very top.
Speaker 4 (01:40:31):
Okay, and that kind
of opens up over the whole floor
which shows the gambling roomsand the fighting pits.
Okay, you mentioned thecircular staircase.
How many circles to the top ofthis?
Three?
There are three.
Yes, Holy shit, that's a lot ofstairs.
Speaker 1 (01:40:49):
How many individual
steps would you say you can
guesstimate?
Speaker 3 (01:40:54):
If there was a slinky
falling down the stairs, how
long would it take?
Speaker 2 (01:40:58):
There are 59 stairs
according to 3D20s.
Speaker 4 (01:41:04):
That's an
uncomfortable number for three
stairs, that's fine, or threesets of stairs, that's no
problem.
So I walk up to the two guardsand I'll give them my winningest
smile and I'll say Secrets, how's it going?
And I'll try to shake thehorse's hands.
(01:41:25):
I call him Secrets because hedoesn't say anything to me.
Speaker 2 (01:41:29):
Yeah, the Warforged
looks that he barely moves his
head, but he doesn't sayanything to me.
Yeah, the Warforged looks at hebarely moves his head, but he
doesn't say anything.
Speaker 4 (01:41:35):
All right Talkie, as
always, I see, and how's your
night going?
I'll turn my eyes to look atthe other one Whose name I
forgot.
Speaker 2 (01:41:42):
Ben Ben.
It's the simplest name I'vegiven you all night.
Speaker 1 (01:41:47):
I only got so many
brain pockets the eleventh-est
name you've given us all nightand.
Speaker 4 (01:41:53):
I turn to Bane and I
say, hey, and how is your night
faring?
Is it night time, oh, and hereI don't know if it's night or
day well, I can tell you, wejust came from outside and it is
the length time of day it'snight.
Speaker 2 (01:42:11):
I mean, I was just
joking about that.
You just came from the outside.
Speaker 4 (01:42:15):
I smile at him.
Speaker 2 (01:42:17):
Oh it's one of those
nights, Nilvax.
Speaker 4 (01:42:20):
Well, you know, every
night's a night, if you know
what I mean.
Anyway, listen, we need to havea few words of gold.
Would you mind letting usthrough?
Speaker 2 (01:42:32):
Listen, you know the
rules as well as I do.
You can't get up there without200 gold pieces.
Speaker 4 (01:42:37):
Well, I do have 200
gold pieces.
Speaker 2 (01:42:39):
Oh Well, if you hand
them to me, then yeah, you can
go up.
Speaker 4 (01:42:43):
No, I just want to
talk to Gullfond.
Speaker 2 (01:42:48):
No, all right, let me
go see if Gov will let you talk
to him.
Speaker 4 (01:42:55):
Okay, Mention the
magic feather and he may feel a
little differently about thiswhole thing.
Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
Magic feather.
How much have you had tonight,Novaks?
Speaker 3 (01:43:08):
There was nothing
magical about that feather, but
I want to see where this goes.
Play it out.
Speaker 4 (01:43:14):
You know Ben, not as
much as it sounds like I've had.
Speaker 2 (01:43:19):
I'll go mention a
magical feather.
I'm sure I'm not going to getfired, not?
Speaker 5 (01:43:24):
magical.
Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
He starts walking up
the stairs, the Warforged moves
to the front, to the middle ofthe stairs, to block any kind of
entrance.
Speaker 3 (01:43:33):
After Ben goes up,
Does the Warforged look like we
could take him?
That's my first question.
My second question is there anyother ways that we appear?
We could get potentially up tothis balcony.
Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
If you can fly, yeah,
if you can fly or jump up there
.
Speaker 3 (01:43:53):
How high is it?
Speaker 4 (01:43:55):
50 feet, 59 steps 59
rotary steps to be specific.
Speaker 6 (01:44:03):
Yeah, but the code is
only a 7-inch rise.
Speaker 1 (01:44:10):
What's code like in
Dnd times?
Speaker 2 (01:44:12):
I don't know more
like a ladder than a staircase I
hate you guys so much like Icould not have played this out
anymore straight path I'm trying, I'm doing the thing in your
head.
Speaker 3 (01:44:28):
It's straight line
for us we're like a dog on a
walk, like we're all over theplace okay we're still going in
a straight line sure?
Speaker 2 (01:44:39):
uh, yeah, the only
other way ups are the.
If you could fly up or jump uponto the balcony man, I can't
wait till I can run up walls.
Speaker 4 (01:44:47):
That's so good.
Speaker 2 (01:44:51):
Ben comes down and
Golpha is behind him.
Speaker 4 (01:44:54):
Yeah, golpha, I knew
you'd be interested.
Speaker 2 (01:45:01):
Maybe we could have a
few words in private.
Nelvax, or sorry, not NelvaxGolpha nods to you all and he
nods to the Warforged to comewith him and him, the Warforged
start walking towards one of theback rooms, the mailbox falls
list up.
Speaker 3 (01:45:18):
Yeah, this is going
great five, verse two I like our
odds easy peasy again.
Speaker 1 (01:45:25):
We are just talking
to them, right guys?
Speaker 6 (01:45:29):
right, right, right,
of course right.
Speaker 2 (01:45:32):
So we've done so far
as you, as you've walked into
the, as you walk into the backrooms area, you see three other
uh what could only be describedas fighters in the hall.
And then he points to the firstback room and you walk in and
it it looks like, uh, a cushyconference room.
It's got a couple of couchesthere, a couple of chairs, and
(01:45:54):
he sits down at the head of theroom with the war forge standing
directly behind him.
Speaker 3 (01:45:59):
Jane will stand at
the door, okay.
Speaker 4 (01:46:02):
So can you tell us
about the room we've walked into
?
Speaker 2 (01:46:06):
Yeah, yeah, so it is
a little dim.
I mean, yeah, yeah, so it is alittle dim.
I mean this room is not meantto do anything other than
illegal things, but uh, it's alittle dim and uh, there, there
are two couches in there thatcould sit three people
comfortably each.
There are a couple.
There are four individualchairs in this room.
It's one of the larger backrooms.
It's meant for more of a uh, ahost party, if you will.
(01:46:29):
Um, we're an orgy and uh,golpha has taken one of those
chairs at the very front and issitting in front of it or
sitting on it.
Speaker 3 (01:46:42):
Sorry, just just to
clarify danis, inside the room
but standing blocking the doorunderstood okay, so you said
it's good for an orgy, sothere's like a big block of ice.
Speaker 2 (01:46:54):
I don't get that joke
.
Don't don't engage, don't do it, yeah, don't acknowledge it.
We have to move past it if youlook at directly in the face
like it's gonna uh zaniver, uh,about how big across is this
room?
Uh, it is.
I mean it's a.
It's a large enough room.
It's probably uh, 15 by 15.
(01:47:15):
It's a big orgy.
Speaker 1 (01:47:17):
Yeah, it's a big orgy
okay, or it's an orgy for large
creatures.
Speaker 6 (01:47:23):
There are minotaurs,
that's true, yeah, but they're
medium creatures so you didn'tanswer somebody's question.
Speaker 5 (01:47:32):
Can we take the war
forged?
Speaker 2 (01:47:36):
you know what roll me
?
A history check.
I asked the question so yeah, roll me a history check, dean.
Speaker 3 (01:47:43):
Wow, actually pretty
good this.
Speaker 5 (01:47:45):
I got a 17 cuz you
told me to roll I meant.
Speaker 2 (01:47:49):
meant, dane, I'm
sorry.
Speaker 3 (01:47:51):
Oops, I was looking
at the wrong characters page.
I'll roll that and then goahead and use my cantrip of
guidance.
Speaker 2 (01:48:04):
So you got a 0?
Is that what I see here?
Speaker 3 (01:48:07):
I definitely got a 0.
But I get to add a 1d4 to it.
Perfect.
Speaker 4 (01:48:13):
Can I cast Guidance
on somebody who's rolling Three?
Speaker 2 (01:48:18):
I think he's already
using Guidance.
You can't stack Guidances.
Speaker 4 (01:48:22):
Is everybody using
Guidance?
Is there just one roll?
Actually, I can't use Guidance.
Speaker 3 (01:48:27):
I touch a willing
creature.
Can I touch myself?
Speaker 2 (01:48:29):
Yeah, you can touch
yourself.
Yes, you can touch yourself.
Speaker 6 (01:48:32):
You can touch
yourself.
Speaker 3 (01:48:35):
I got a three on that
one Critical fail.
Speaker 2 (01:48:39):
Dane, you don't even
remember any time you've seen a
Warforged before walking intothis building.
Beep, boop, bop.
Speaker 4 (01:48:45):
Beep boop, boop.
Speaker 2 (01:48:47):
Once this thing
started moving, it scared you
Holy shit.
Speaker 3 (01:48:52):
Slot machines are
coming out of the walls.
Oh no.
Speaker 4 (01:48:57):
How many coins are
you trying to slip in this
thing's armor?
Yanking on his arm trying topull the?
Oh man, Okay, you continue.
Speaker 3 (01:49:06):
Okay, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:49:08):
Okay, do continue.
Okay, yeah, gopher looks at you, novaks, and he says what Sorry
, what can I do for you?
Speaker 4 (01:49:19):
Novaks.
Well, I think we might havesome business to conduct.
And then I'll pull another oneof the single-seater chairs over
and sit across from him, facinghim.
There's no table right.
He's just sitting directly infront chairs over and sit across
from him facing him.
Speaker 5 (01:49:30):
Okay, there's no
table right, he's just sitting
directly in front of him.
Speaker 2 (01:49:34):
Yeah, directly in
front of him, kind of a little
uncomfy.
Speaker 4 (01:49:37):
Yeah, nice, it's
power play.
Speaker 2 (01:49:40):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:49:41):
You sit in the chair
backwards or forwards?
Speaker 2 (01:49:43):
Golfa very casually
crosses his right leg over his
left and while exposingeverything underneath, and he
says, he says and what businesswould that be?
Speaker 4 (01:49:59):
The business of
profits, of course.
What other business is there?
Speaker 2 (01:50:03):
I'm doing very well.
I don't think I need your helpon this one, Nilfax.
Speaker 1 (01:50:09):
Quill will butt in.
Can we cut to the chase?
Speaker 6 (01:50:13):
here We've been
contracted, new York.
Speaker 1 (01:50:17):
No, that's hey.
Can we cut to the fucking chase?
Speaker 5 (01:50:20):
Hey, can we cut?
Speaker 1 (01:50:22):
to the chase here.
Speaker 4 (01:50:23):
Want to lay it or not
.
Speaker 1 (01:50:26):
We've been hired on
by that halfling to deal with
this feather situation, and wewanted to talk it through first.
What feather?
Rafik told us he owed you 200gold, and then you burned his
feather, which is worth morethan that.
So in the eyes of the law, Ithink we can all agree.
(01:50:49):
The right thing to do here isto clear his debt because you
burned his feather, and thengive us the 250 gold difference
as our payment, and then we'llbe out of your hair gopher
raises one eyebrow and he startslaughing at you.
Speaker 2 (01:51:09):
Oh, that's a pretty
good joke there.
Wait, oh, you're serious.
You want me to pay you for adebt someone owes me.
Speaker 1 (01:51:24):
You burned the
feather, though that was the
grievance here.
I don't care about a feather, but the feather was important.
Why so?
Because the DM told us it was aspecial feather and now.
I'm explaining how it's aspecial feather to this NPC and
(01:51:45):
I feel a little foolish.
Speaker 2 (01:51:51):
So just to be very
clear, golfa had no idea what
this feather was, didn'tunderstand what it was, didn't
care.
He knocked the lantern down, burned something of Rav Fog's
Great.
Speaker 5 (01:52:03):
Make a point.
So I got a question Do we knowthat the feather was valuable?
I guess we should have askedthis before.
Speaker 1 (01:52:13):
We know that the it
was established with the
conversation that it wasvaluable yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:52:18):
Lord Mondor after a
feather he's willing to pay
hundreds of gold for it.
So we know it's.
Okay, we got that much at least.
Speaker 3 (01:52:26):
We know it's worth
200 of a debt and 250 additional
.
Speaker 5 (01:52:28):
Okay.
Okay.
So All right, we know it'sworth 200 of a debt and 250
additional.
Okay, so Zane will say so.
You think it's acceptablebehavior to destroy somebody
else's property because youthink you're a badass or
something?
Speaker 2 (01:52:50):
I think if somebody
owes me money, I'm gonna get my
money uh, by destroying theirability to get said money dane
uh dane in the back of the room.
Speaker 3 (01:53:04):
Uh, he pulls out his
mace and starts slapping his
mace from one hand to the otherwith a big grin on his face.
Well, I like the way thisconversation is going.
It's easy.
He's trying to intimidate, buthe's also very happy that we're
about to start a fight yeah, roll me an intimidation, check
dane is dane actually good atthat?
(01:53:24):
Before I try to intimidate Ishould.
Speaker 5 (01:53:27):
I don't know, it's
probably better, but do it when
I think about you, I touchmyself.
Speaker 3 (01:53:35):
I'm gonna add a plus
four to that one is he within
reach of me?
I can.
Can I get guidance on him?
Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
I can just do
guidance on myself uh, you're
sitting right in front ofyourself.
Yes, you can give guidance onyourself oh, we said we can.
Speaker 3 (01:53:47):
I thought you could,
yeah, remember when I think
about you, I touch myself.
Speaker 2 (01:53:51):
I got a 12.
Can Zane assist or not Only?
Oh, you mean assist on top ofthe guidance?
Speaker 5 (01:53:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
Like just your normal
assist.
Speaker 5 (01:54:00):
How do?
Speaker 2 (01:54:01):
you do that.
Speaker 5 (01:54:02):
What are your rules
for assistance?
Do you need assistance?
Speaker 6 (01:54:12):
Andrew, unless you
know off the top of your head,
assistance for 2024 rules it'swhatever narratively fits right.
So if he's gonna chip in with aadditional piece of
intimidating information, liketurning the eyes of the tower
upon the, the gambling hall orsomething, I think he says
mechanically, does it give him aplus number or advantage it
gives?
Advantage mechanically, justlike it did in 5EOG.
(01:54:34):
I haven't read the rules yet.
I'm very sad.
It's the health action still.
Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
Okay, all right then.
Yeah, if somebody else istrying to assist and they're
using an intimidate kind offeature, I'm down with it.
Speaker 5 (01:54:48):
Cool, okay.
So Zaneane, in backing up uh,dane, uh will say yeah.
While generally yourestablishment is looked upon
favorably, I don't necessarilythink an heirloom's destruction
(01:55:09):
would be very favorable.
Looked favorably upon by thetower as these voices getting
deeper and more growly.
Speaker 2 (01:55:17):
Alright, give me an
intimidation.
Roll at advantage there, Dane.
So you rolled an 11?
.
Speaker 3 (01:55:22):
Yeah, actually we'll
probably just take the first one
, which is going to be a 19.
Okay, so plus 1, I get a 22 intotal.
Speaker 2 (01:55:33):
That's good, All
right.
So Gulfa seems to come down alittle bit but he says to you
all right, I can't just forgivemy debt here.
He borrowed money from myestablishment.
I'm sure you could all see thatthat could come back on me
(01:55:55):
unfavorably.
Speaker 3 (01:55:57):
Well then, I believe
you purchased a feather for 450
gold pieces.
Speaker 2 (01:56:03):
I'll tell you what
I'm willing to deal with you all
.
If you bring me the halfling,I'll wipe the debt and I'll give
you 500 gold pieces.
Speaker 5 (01:56:18):
Why do you need the
halfling?
Speaker 2 (01:56:20):
I always get what's
owed to me.
Speaker 1 (01:56:23):
You're just going to
make him work for you, right?
Speaker 2 (01:56:28):
He will work.
Speaker 6 (01:56:33):
So Xanathar will
speak up and say 500 gold pieces
does sound enticing, but Isuggest and cast suggestion as
he speaks that when you haveyour hands on the halfling you
do not cast any ill will towardshim and release him safely back
in the custody of hisgrandmother.
It's a DC 16 wisdom saveAlright, I've got a fate worse
(01:56:57):
than death.
Speaker 3 (01:57:01):
Sending you back to
your grandma.
Speaker 1 (01:57:05):
What is that?
Oh, a 16.
16.
Speaker 2 (01:57:09):
So does it say that
you know the outcome or not?
Speaker 6 (01:57:13):
uh, it does not okay,
so where the other?
Speaker 2 (01:57:18):
yeah, golfer says to
you of course I, I wouldn't ever
dream of hurting the little onedoes dane believe him give?
Me an insight check.
It's like does anybody believehim Give?
Speaker 5 (01:57:29):
me an insight check.
It's like does anybody believehim?
Speaker 2 (01:57:33):
I mean all of you
give me insight, that's fine.
Speaker 3 (01:57:35):
The freaking rolls
here.
Speaker 6 (01:57:39):
I mean, I guess the
question would be since it's a
concentration spell, would I beable to tell that I'm not
concentrating on an effect?
Speaker 2 (01:57:48):
that.
No, you feel a fizzle out.
Okay, I didn't realize it wasconcentration that's on me.
Speaker 4 (01:57:54):
Yeah, 11 from Nelvex
11 from Dane 13 from Zane 9 from
Mane.
Speaker 3 (01:58:07):
I really don't want
to go fetch this halfling, but I
think we're going to have to.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:58:14):
Xaniver, even though
you feel the spell kind of
fizzle out.
You look at his face and maybeit's the stoic presence of his
warden behind him, but you tendto believe him and the rest of
you believe what he says Crap.
Speaker 3 (01:58:36):
Well, let us go get
this halfling for you.
We'll be right back Massa.
Speaker 4 (01:58:41):
I'm not sure that's
the best course of action.
What did you have in mind?
Certainly, there must be abetter alternative.
I think.
I believe that that's whatGullford thinks is the best
course of action, but I don'tthink that Nelvax agrees with
him or like is Gullford that thegiving up, the exchange of
(01:59:03):
money is one thing, but givingup a person is like?
Speaker 1 (01:59:06):
that's what I was
thinking like.
What would Gullford do?
What?
Speaker 3 (01:59:09):
would giving up a
person where you believe no ill
fate will happen to that persondoesn't seem like a bad, so what
would?
Speaker 2 (01:59:19):
dm perspective.
I'm trying to, I'm trying togather what your characters are
like right now.
So this is just me gettinginformation, so I don don't.
Speaker 5 (01:59:30):
I mean Zane can't
connect the dots that say why
would he give us 500 gold piecesexcept the halfling and nothing
bad can happen.
There's no dots.
That I mean yeah, I couldbelieve him all day long, but
(01:59:50):
there's nothing that adds up.
Speaker 4 (01:59:54):
Yeah, nelvax is kind
of a mercenary dude, but not
like mercenary, like sellingpeople into slavery, mercenary,
like that's not really the kindof job that he's into.
Yeah, so I'm, which is how thatfeels.
Speaker 5 (02:00:09):
There's no trigger
points being hit for zane, but
he doesn't necessarily believethat it's a good idea to, I
think his sense of fairness isthat he should this the hell's
his name, golfa.
Golfa should pay the freakinghalfling for the thing that he
destroyed yeah, I think that'skind of where dane's at too.
Speaker 3 (02:00:31):
He doesn't.
He doesn't think that this newdeal supersedes the right thing
to do, which is gullful repayingfor the destroyed feather uh,
maybe we can sweeten the deal.
Speaker 1 (02:00:43):
uh, quill will
suggest that.
Uh, perhaps there's some otherminor thing that we could do to
help you out, and then, havingdone that, you accept the deal
and we all part ways Okay.
Speaker 2 (02:01:00):
All right, I like how
you think there.
Quill oh, I don't know yourname.
Speaker 1 (02:01:05):
I like how you think
there strange creature.
Speaker 5 (02:01:09):
It's you, I like you.
Speaker 2 (02:01:10):
It's you, I like you.
Speaker 5 (02:01:13):
It's floating above
his head.
Speaker 6 (02:01:14):
Yeah, of course.
Speaker 2 (02:01:16):
Alright well if
you're willing to do me a favor,
then maybe we'll call it evenSomething worth 200 gold pieces.
Speaker 4 (02:01:27):
I don't know what
kind of favor might that be?
Speaker 5 (02:01:32):
Don't kill somebody
that you care about.
No, that wouldn't go.
Speaker 2 (02:01:36):
Never mind, oh, okay.
I was like all right, let'sroll for some initiative.
He said well, I've heard thatthere's been a certain captain
that's been prying into mybusinesses a little bit.
Maybe you can visit him andconvince him to leave me alone.
Speaker 4 (02:02:01):
Captain of what
exactly?
Speaker 2 (02:02:04):
I'm sure you know him
, Lord Mondor.
Speaker 1 (02:02:08):
Yeah, I was like oh
okay, uh Quill will say you have
to understand, you got five ofthe finest adventurers in this
town that I definitely know thename of we too, have a
reputation to uphold.
If it's gonna tarnish that, then we're going to have to find
(02:02:35):
something else that willsuffice.
Speaker 3 (02:02:37):
I don't fancy the
idea of going against a
protector of the crown, so youcan count me out.
Speaker 5 (02:02:44):
Or hear me out, no or
we can just go talk to the
captain, because the captain waswanting that feather that you
burned and I don't know.
Maybe we let him know what'sgoing on here and that you
(02:03:05):
burned the feather Seems quitenice.
Speaker 4 (02:03:09):
And I'm trying to
intimidate as well uh, I'll just
gesture uh towards zane danetowards zane no towards zane
I'll dress you towards zane asif he has a very good point I
mean one's got an eye theother't, I don't see how
confusing this could be.
Speaker 2 (02:03:30):
I know Zane Dane
Xaniver.
Speaker 4 (02:03:33):
I'll figure it out.
Speaker 2 (02:03:36):
All right, sure, give
me an intimidation.
Oh Jesus, fucking Christ.
Speaker 3 (02:03:43):
Her role's a bit crap
.
Speaker 2 (02:03:44):
Yeah, Golva says all
right, go ahead.
I guess All right, I don't knowhow it's gonna work out for you
.
Speaker 5 (02:03:53):
So, from what we know
about the kingdom, how well do
they like people destroyingother people's stuff?
Speaker 2 (02:04:01):
Oh, there's
definitely punishment for it,
Like pretty severe, depending onhow much it's worth.
Speaker 1 (02:04:07):
Especially what if
it's a famous Kulta feather
Coatl Qu.
Famous Kulta feather CoatlQuetzalcoatlus feather.
Speaker 5 (02:04:15):
Quetzalcoatlus, I
think, knowing that this Captain
Lord guy was interested in thisfeather and was willing to pay
450, him finding out that theguy destroyed it and is not
willing to make any kind of makegood on it, I think the captain
(02:04:37):
would be not happy.
Okay, are we the type?
Speaker 3 (02:04:43):
of characters that
are going to care to do that, or
just take care of it ourselves.
Speaker 5 (02:04:49):
I don't really have a
good feel on whether or not we
can take them.
Speaker 1 (02:04:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:04:54):
I've got nothing.
I think my read on us so far isthat we're generally above
board and we'll definitely takeit below the belt if we have to.
But I think in this case we canplay dumb and call this
bugbear's bluff and he mightback out, Withdraw from that,
from like the legal obligationsfor this expensive feather,
(02:05:14):
especially if we go right to thesource, from this royalty.
Who's actually looking for thisthing?
and looking for him novaks isinterested, like novaks would
know that necessarily.
But I think that this guy justsaid go ahead and try.
I'm like, well, I don't want to.
I don't really want to fightthis dude for no reason, like as
a gambler who frequents thisestablishment, I don't want to
get kicked out or lose myprivileges.
(02:05:35):
Yeah, I kind of pulled somestrings to get us this face time
with with this bugbear dude.
Awful, it would be definitelymore profitable to run this in
his stead.
But if, if the right move longterm is to go talk to the dude
who actually gives a shit aboutthis thing this feather, then I
think Novaks is on board.
Speaker 3 (02:05:57):
Alright, then let's
go talk to Lord Mondor and see
what he has to say about thissituation.
Shall we my friends?
And he opens the door behindhim.
Speaker 4 (02:06:10):
Golfer, there's
nothing to stop you.
Novak stands up and offers hishand to Golfer.
We appreciate your time, sir.
We'll catch back up with you.
Speaker 2 (02:06:18):
Golfer stands up,
makes a point to flatten his
shirt a little bit, and thenextends his hand and shakes it.
Speaker 4 (02:06:26):
I'll shake his hand
ingenuously and then depart the
room without a second thought.
So to make sure I understandyou guys, I'll shake his hand
ingeniously and then depart theroom without a second thought.
Speaker 2 (02:06:31):
Alright, so to make
sure I understand, you guys are
all going to see the CrownWarden Xaniver, lord Mondur.
Speaker 6 (02:06:39):
Yes.
So as he's leaving, xaniverwill point at Gulpha and cast a
message saying be careful aroundfire.
You never know when it's goingto catch.
Speaker 1 (02:06:53):
And then walk out
Some cold ass shit to say to
somebody yeah, it is, Uh yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:07:01):
So, xenover, you see
the bug bear's eyes widen and he
looks around the room and hestares up at the uh, the war
forge, like it came from him, orit.
Speaker 6 (02:07:13):
And I just walk out.
Nothing happened.
Speaker 2 (02:07:17):
Alright, so I think
that's where we're going to call
it for the night.
I know we did a lot of loretonight and everything else, but
it is midnight for the EasternTime, guys, and we will start up
our next session with the party.
Speaker 4 (02:07:30):
going to talk to
crown warden, lord mondor how'd
it go compared to yourexpectations there, brandon?
Speaker 2 (02:07:38):
uh, grandma, but we
didn't do that, so you know,
honestly, I saw one going one oftwo ways and you guys did go
the third way, so like exactlyhow I always expected to go you
mentioned having a specificnumber of episodes in mind for
this campaign.
Speaker 4 (02:07:54):
How are we going to
stick to that?
Speaker 2 (02:07:56):
I'm on there's no
fucking way.
Speaker 4 (02:07:59):
