SPEAKER_02 (04:21):
I was uh I don't
know his name.
I was at Michael's, the craftstore, and I was buying crochet
stuff for my wife.
Well, for me to make for mywife.
And when I was checking out thiscool dude at the counter, I
assume he's cool.
Uh I also bought something thatwas D D related, and he's like,
Oh, you play D D?
He's like, how And then he askedfor the name of it, and I gave
it to him, and now he might belistening.
(04:41):
What's up, dude?
We should hang out.
I hope his name is Michaels.
That would be pretty sweet.
Michaels from Michaels.
Which podcast name did you givehim?
Uh the OG.
I told him we've been playingfor like five years, and then we
sucked at the beginning.
Well, our DD was good.
But our editing and podcastingturn out was a little rough.
SPEAKER_06 (05:02):
I would say your the
role playing was good.
Our DDing was terrible.
SPEAKER_02 (05:08):
No.
Why was our DD terrible?
That's part of the process.
You learn, you play, you getbetter, you get some enjoy- It
was all DD as D D.
SPEAKER_06 (05:16):
Well, that's that's
fair.
I I realized looking like I'velistened, I went back and
listened to a few of thoseepisodes a few months ago.
I was like, oh man, I would havemade such different decisions
based off what you guys havetold me.
SPEAKER_02 (05:28):
Or what?
That doesn't make it not goodDD.
SPEAKER_06 (05:31):
That's fair.
SPEAKER_02 (05:32):
That just means that
you've grown faster.
And I think that's a good thing.
We've all grown together.
I growed into death.
SPEAKER_06 (05:41):
Alright, so like our
previous game, you know, we uh
we're learning this this newsystem as we go.
Uh some of us know the rules abit better than others.
Andrew looking at you, but the2024 rules have come out not too
long ago, and we're playing thesystem together, and we're
learning these rules together.
So I've been asked by ourplayers about two rules
(06:03):
specifically, and I just wantedto go over them.
The first we're gonna start withis bastion rules.
So, bastion rules is a thingthat's been around for a long
time, but they finally put it inthe actual rule book.
So it's it's got actual rules,and there's things called
bastion turns.
So I just want to go over itreal quick, and uh, I want all
of you to tell me if this issomething you want to do or
(06:24):
don't do, right?
So the thing to keep in mind aswe read through this is it is
going to take some RP, it'sgoing to require some upkeep on
the bastion itself.
There's going to be some turnsthat you've got to plan out,
there's planning involved.
Um, so it is going to take partof the session time to do this.
Not every session, because the aturn happens every seven in-game
(06:45):
days, but it is going to take uppart of the game.
And but at the the other side ofthe house, I think there's some
cool RP uh opportunities here.
And I also think that uh you wecan set up for some cool things
like bastion defenses, or if thecity gets attacked, you know,
you can use that as a strongholdtype deal.
(07:05):
So there's uh there's other coolaspects to it that we can play
with.
SPEAKER_01 (07:08):
Like a passive
aggressive, sticky note
conversation exactly.
With your roomies.
SPEAKER_06 (07:14):
So you sock on the
door.
Uh so when you've got a bastion,so what a bastion is, it's a
location that belongs to aplayer character.
It's basically their home ortheir stronghold, right?
It's a place of power that thecharacter develops over the
course of a campaign.
They are first available atlevel 5 for a player, uh, and
then it's up to DM's discretionon how the character gets the
(07:35):
bastion.
Um and like I said, it allows ifif they're allowed during the
campaign, it allows you to docertain things.
So at level five, if you have abastion, you start with two
standard facilities and twospecial facilities.
There, and the specialfacilities each do something
(07:58):
unique.
Like, for instance, if you havea library as a special facility,
you can use that to do researchfor it.
And every seven days, they'lladd to that research again at
DM's discretion.
Or if you have something like abarracks, you can go out and
recruit mercenaries for yourcause, right?
Or to defend the barracks.
So there's some cool thingsthere.
(08:18):
Uh, there's only five, six, seven, eight, nine, nine
different special facilitiesallowed at level five that
increases at level nine, andthen again at 13 and 17.
Um, but each of you get twospecial facilities and two
normal facilities.
And normal facilities are abathroom or a dining room,
(08:40):
right?
It's it's just basic rooms.
It's more for the RP side of thehouse than anything else.
You can either keep the I'm notgonna lie, Andrew, that scared
the fuck out of me.
Uh just seeing because I don'tknow why, but I thought that was
behind me for a second.
I just saw something dart pastyou.
I was hearts going.
Alright.
(09:02):
Alright.
So I'll blow my background tostop distracting.
No, no, you're fine.
Absolutely fine.
Um, so at level five, you caneither uh anytime you can keep
your bastion separately, so youeach have your own bastion, or
you can can combine them.
So if all five of you were tocombine them, you would have ten
(09:23):
special facilities and ten uhstandard facilities to use.
There are a cool uh a couplecool apps you can use to
actually build the facility outso you can see a 3D printed
version or a 3D version of this.
Um but again, uh and someexamples of like turns, right?
Um sorry.
(09:47):
So some things you can do to uhas orders, right?
You can decide to craft, so youcan craft an item that can be
made in the facility.
You still have to follow normalcrafting rules, so there has to
those items have to beavailable, you still gotta pay
gold for them, etc.
Um, you can harvest, uh harvesta specific specific resource, so
maybe it's iron, copper, corn, whatever you want to do, you can
(10:10):
recruit, you can research, youcan trade.
There's a lot of cool things, and those are just some examples
of them.
Later on in the in late game, uhyou get like you can unlock a
demi plane or a guild hall or awar room.
So there's some cool things youcan do to it.
So I would just like uh realquick around the table.
(10:31):
Uh do you guys want to usebastions?
Justin?
SPEAKER_02 (10:36):
Yes.
SPEAKER_06 (10:37):
Maddie?
SPEAKER_01 (10:39):
Yes.
SPEAKER_06 (10:40):
Andrew.
Let's go for it.
And Ray?
SPEAKER_03 (10:44):
Yes, that's good.
SPEAKER_06 (10:45):
Okay, and I know
Bill wants it because he's the
one that brought it up.
Any questions about Bastionsbefore we bring up uh before we
move on?
SPEAKER_01 (10:52):
Can I change my
answer to no?
SPEAKER_06 (10:54):
Because Bill wants
it.
SPEAKER_01 (10:56):
Can we tell Bill
that we all voted no?
SPEAKER_06 (10:58):
Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01 (10:59):
Let's let him worry
about it for a little bit and
then we start off the nextepisode in the bastion.
SPEAKER_03 (11:04):
It seems way too
complicated.
I'm never gonna keep up on that.
SPEAKER_06 (11:10):
The difficult part
for me is now I actually have to
track how many days have passed.
SPEAKER_01 (11:14):
Um77,000 Dragon Age.
SPEAKER_07 (11:17):
I mean Dragon Age,
baby.
We could just gaslight you onthe number of days and tell you
that we're keeping track.
Yeah, I'm not gonna believe anyof you.
SPEAKER_03 (11:31):
Uh, okay.
SPEAKER_01 (11:32):
Well, it's all just
a month.
I want to talk aboutgaslighting.
SPEAKER_06 (11:37):
Alright.
The second thing I want to talkabout is crafting magical items.
So again, this is somethingthat's been around a while, but
they finally like solidified therules in 2024.
Uh it's in the player'shandbook, you can already brew
potions of healing and scribingand and spell scrolls.
Um, but to make specific magicitems, you've got to follow the
(11:58):
rules in the in the DM handbook.
So, one, to craft a magic item, you you and any assistants that
work on it must have proficiencyin Arcana skill.
And then you have to have thetool that's required.
So, if you, for instance, wantto create a ring, you've got to
be proficient in jeweler'stools.
If you want to make a staff, you've got to be proficient in
(12:19):
wood carver's tools, so on andso forth.
Um, if the magic item allows theuser to cast a spell, you must
have all those spells preparedevery day you spend crafting the
item.
So most items require multipledays to craft.
If you want that item to craftuh be able to cast a spell,
you've got to have the spellprepared.
And most importantly, is timeand cost.
(12:41):
So crafting a magic item takesan amount of time and money
based on the item's rarity asshown in the magic item crafting
time and cost table.
Uh there's a lot of rules here, but basically a day is eight
hours, so you have to becrafting for eight hours.
All of your assistants have tobe uh your assistants'
assistants can help charactersuh work, and multiple players
(13:02):
can help.
So if Justin and Andrew bothwanted to craft an item
together, they can work togetherto craft that item.
And you've got to have the rawmaterials.
Um in a large city, there's a75% chance based off DM's
discretion.
Uh in a small rural town, there's more like a 25% chance.
But here's the other thing ifthe magic item incorporates an
(13:24):
item that has a purchase cost,uh, such as a weapon or a suit
of armor, you must also pay thatentire cost or craft that item
using the play rules in theplayer's handbook.
For example, to make a plus onearmor plate, you have to have
plate armor or pay 2,000 goldpieces and craft, or so you can
either pay 3,500 gold pieces or2,000 gold pieces and craft the
(13:47):
armor.
So you've got to have all theprerequisite pieces as well.
So a typical example of this, for instance, uh Andrew wants to
craft a Lucky Stone.
SPEAKER_02 (14:00):
It's just a rock.
It looks like a cat though.
Well, we can get a cat.
My my companion gets a cat.
SPEAKER_03 (14:08):
Does it have to look
like a cat?
SPEAKER_07 (14:11):
I don't think it has
to.
No, it does not.
SPEAKER_03 (14:15):
What kind of magic
items can we make?
Like, can I make presteddigitation shamwells to sell to
commoners?
SPEAKER_06 (14:23):
You can!
SPEAKER_03 (14:24):
Nice! You can clean
anything.
SPEAKER_07 (14:27):
Gives you six
castings a day.
SPEAKER_03 (14:30):
Boom.
SPEAKER_07 (14:31):
Or six charges and
recharges a d6 a day or
something.
SPEAKER_02 (14:36):
I don't know.
You think you're gonna haveprested digitation prepared
every day?
Well in this party?
SPEAKER_00 (14:44):
Yes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_07 (14:47):
Well, we only have a
we only have a single prepared
spellcaster.
Everyone else is a yeah.
A known spellcaster or aspontaneous spellcaster.
I'm gonna go.
Wait, Luxe.
SPEAKER_01 (14:59):
Who's supposed to
prepare spells?
What character does that?
SPEAKER_07 (15:02):
Oh my god.
I've heard clerics are supposedto, but I know that you don't.
SPEAKER_01 (15:08):
So I mean I don't
get it, because I just have no
spells available.
SPEAKER_06 (15:12):
Uh so a Lux Stone is
a an uncommon item.
It does require attunement.
Um, but because it's uncommon,it's gonna take about 10 days to
craft, and it's also gonna costuh 200 gold pieces.
If there's anything extra that'sinvolved with that, such as a
ruby or anything, they wouldhave to, Andrew would also have
to purchase that rubyseparately.
SPEAKER_01 (15:32):
Do you have to be in
your bastion, like crafting for
10 days, or it's just likehappen to the background?
SPEAKER_06 (15:38):
You can no, you do
not have to be in your bastion
for those 10 days straight.
You can be on the road doing it,but a day of crafting is eight
hours of dedicated time.
SPEAKER_01 (15:46):
Ah.
SPEAKER_06 (15:47):
Justin.
SPEAKER_02 (15:49):
Can we talk you into
like side quest one-offs to
procure through various me?
For example, maybe rob ajeweler's shop to get a diamond
worth 500 GP?
SPEAKER_06 (16:02):
Uh, I'm good with
that.
Uh, you know I'm all for playeragency here.
However, if you were to rob ajewelry store, be prepared for
consequences, for one.
SPEAKER_01 (16:14):
If you get caught,
he'd go to chest.
SPEAKER_06 (16:17):
And two, that is
going to increase the amount of
time we originally allotted forthis, which I'm more than fine
with.
We've had our previous campaigngoing for five fucking years.
I don't care if this takes morethan a year and a half.
SPEAKER_02 (16:28):
I meant more
specifically, like, uh, my
profession as Nelvax is a thief.
So for like if Xaniver is like, man, I could really use a Ruy or
a diamond or, you know, otherthing, and Nelvax is like,
Alright, give me like threedays.
Maybe Nelvax bring in somebodywith him.
(16:49):
Maybe Novax ha has his own gangof dudes, and we roll up a
couple of Randos to hang outwith Novax while we do this
little sting operation on anon-normally scheduled uh
recording day where it's likeyou, me, and whoever's free to
go do some chicanery.
SPEAKER_01 (17:05):
That could be kind
of fun.
Yeah, I'm all for it.
I'm also thinking if we all hadlike some back pocket magical
item that we're working towardsor any kind of crafting item,
then that'd be a good excuse forlike missing out a recording.
SPEAKER_07 (17:18):
That's true.
Like some like some boots thatallow um Voss to move at 30 feet
per round.
I mean, I could already do thatin my normal boots.
SPEAKER_02 (17:26):
Yeah, wait, isn't
that supposed to be at an
advantage or oh you're down.
What do you not have arm thestrength or something?
What's the deal?
SPEAKER_01 (17:34):
I have I have 30 30
character.
He doesn't have enough strengthat his plate armor.
My my walking speed's 20.
Yeah, because you're you knowyou can't carry your fucking
stupid armor.
I'm very loud.
Um, is that why is it it's thatmy strength is?
You need to have 15 strength.
(17:54):
I shouldn't I'll prioritize thaton my next level.
SPEAKER_06 (17:56):
The only thing I
will say about magical item
creation is I would appreciateif there's not full-blown
arguments about it.
I'm willing to talk to you aboutprice, but once that price is
set, the price is set.
I don't I don't really want tohear bitching about it.
Because that just takes the fuckout of it for me.
We're just gonna rob you.
SPEAKER_01 (18:15):
We would never do
something like that.
SPEAKER_06 (18:17):
Why would you rob
me?
SPEAKER_01 (18:18):
Wait, is it I mean,
isn't the price set by uh the
rules?
What is there to argue about?
SPEAKER_06 (18:25):
What is there to
argue about in this group?
Did you really just fucking askme that?
SPEAKER_01 (18:29):
Uh yeah, I don't get
it.
SPEAKER_03 (18:31):
I feel like I'm
pretty amenable most of the
time.
Oh my god, did I tell you aboutthe bathroom situ?
I told Andrew about the bathroomsituation, didn't I?
SPEAKER_06 (18:50):
I don't know what an
Alaskan pipeline sparked your
memory for, but I'm here for it.
Let the world know.
SPEAKER_03 (18:56):
Dude, just a
terrifying situation for me.
As like the person who's like, you know, like my life is very
TV 14, like, I don't like to mixit up in uh any uh promiscuous
scenarios.
I went to a concert and it wasuh just all the bathrooms were
uh gender neutral.
And I was like, okay, well, thisone over here at least has
(19:18):
urinals, so I'm gonna go towardsthat one.
And there's no one in there.
I purposely went during one ofthe big sets going on, and I was
like, Yeah, alright, no one's inhere.
Do my business in the stallbecause I'm like super pea shy.
And then I open up the stalldoor and there's just like a
scantily clad woman there, andshe's like, hey, it's gender
neutral, right?
And like does the finger guns, and I was just like, oh my god.
(19:41):
Thank god someone else in therelike get out.
He's like, that's not happeninghere.
It was crazy.
Um that's great.
Terrifying Bill.
It was Bill for hot stickets.
He left.
He's like, ah, Ray's being loud.
SPEAKER_01 (19:59):
He's gotta he's
gonna find those uh subscribed.
SPEAKER_00 (20:03):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (20:04):
Uh is there any
questions before we start it up?
Cool.
Alright.
Uh so recap.
Uh Ray, Andrew, and Maddie, ifyou wouldn't mind rolling me
some recap, because Justin wasnot here.
SPEAKER_01 (20:17):
Oh, how I'm actually
kinda wondering.
I got 17.
SPEAKER_08 (20:20):
Hello.
SPEAKER_06 (20:21):
Hey Bill.
SPEAKER_07 (20:23):
Yeah, not 20.
SPEAKER_08 (20:24):
Oh, maybe I would do
it.
So was there an answer?
SPEAKER_01 (20:28):
Answer to a
question.
Answer to one question.
SPEAKER_08 (20:30):
Talking to Brandon.
SPEAKER_01 (20:32):
An answer?
An answer to talking to Brandon?
You can always.
No, you cannot have that timeoff.
SPEAKER_06 (20:38):
It is.
Oh, the Bastion rule.
Yeah, Bastion is okay.
It's approved.
SPEAKER_02 (20:42):
Dude, you totally
you could have messed with it.
No, the notes say we said nowith all those yeses next to it.
SPEAKER_08 (20:52):
You're still in a
collared shirt.
So there's notes.
SPEAKER_02 (20:55):
Yeah, I tagged you
like seven times.
Three times.
What's wrong with it?
What's wrong with a collar?
SPEAKER_06 (20:59):
I guess you're
wearing why are you wearing it?
I guess it's 6 30 for you.
SPEAKER_01 (21:04):
Yeah.
Just got off work.
SPEAKER_02 (21:06):
Oh, that's right.
Alright.
Where is my are you joining usnow, Bill, or are you just
popping in?
SPEAKER_05 (21:12):
Yeah.
No, I'm joining.
SPEAKER_02 (21:15):
Hell yeah.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
You missed the recap.
Start over.
The recap.
Did you do a recap?
SPEAKER_06 (21:26):
No, not yet.
I thought that's what you guyswere rolling for.
We were just rolling for recap.
SPEAKER_02 (21:31):
We did the intro and
it just was nice.
I took good notes.
SPEAKER_06 (21:35):
Alright, let's just
roll for some recap.
SPEAKER_03 (21:39):
I got a 10.
SPEAKER_02 (21:40):
I got an eight.
SPEAKER_01 (21:42):
Seventeen.
Twenty.
SPEAKER_07 (21:44):
Justin, you weren't
even here.
SPEAKER_02 (21:46):
But I wanted to roll
some dice.
unknown (21:49):
Okay.
SPEAKER_07 (21:50):
If Justin wants to
recap it, I mean, he could have
listened to the raw audio.
SPEAKER_06 (21:57):
Starting off strong,
Bill.
SPEAKER_08 (21:59):
Yeah, I don't even
know what we did.
Hold on.
SPEAKER_06 (22:05):
For our listeners,
we'll roll to one.
SPEAKER_08 (22:10):
Yeah, I'm so not
ready to do any of this.
Alright.
So did you know when you pop outthe window in Discord that it
goes on top of everything?
SPEAKER_06 (22:24):
Yes.
SPEAKER_08 (22:25):
Such a pain in the
ass.
The hell.
SPEAKER_06 (22:28):
If you're not ready,
Bill, we can have Ray do the
recap.
I know you just joined frombeing off the road.
SPEAKER_08 (22:35):
Um, give me one
second.
Uh okay, so uh we picked up theepisode.
I missed the episode prior, butum prior to that, that was
already recapped.
So we picked up and we wereheading from the stable which
had burnt down and they rescuedsix horses, and we went to a
(22:59):
light not lighthouse, awindmill.
And originally uh Zane's planwas to kick on his winged boots
and climb up or and fly up andgo through the window, and we
were gonna send a heavilyarmored person through the
window as well, and then Brandonclued us in that the window was
(23:20):
like small.
So that wasn't gonna work.
So instead, we busted throughthe door and killed all those
evildoers, because they werejust evil we knew they were.
Um so we blasted them, multiplepeople sending arcane blasts or
sorry, um eldritch blasts, uhblasts going everywhere, stabs
(23:44):
going everywhere.
Um we climbed upstairs andkilled all those people as well,
and then we went downstairs andfound a ritual in progress.
And the ritual that was inprogress was a summoning, he
says with a question mark.
Um and we the it looks likeseveral people were already
(24:07):
murdered for this ritual, um, orsacrificed, I guess, for the
ritual, and I only rememberseeing one thing that was
summoned.
The only the one somethingdevil, bearded devil.
Yeah, there's one bearded devil,um, but multiple people were
(24:27):
killed, and then the uh themother or the lady, the lord's
wife, who was the lady, sacrificed herself by jumping in
front of the blade or somethinglike that to save the child,
chucked the child across theroom to save it, um, and then we
attacked, battle ensued, multiple uh people attacked the
(24:52):
bad guys, we killed the badguys, but the only person we
ended up saving was who'ssomebody who is now the Lord,
uh, because his father waskilled.
Um and saved him.
He was a crybaby, we tried totalk him up to make him stop
being a crybaby, and then wetook him to the guy who sent us
(25:13):
here, and we picked up somestuff.
Is that about right?
I mean, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (25:22):
Did you guys throw a
baby?
Is that what I heard?
No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_08 (25:25):
We did not throw a
baby.
The mother threw the baby, andit wasn't really a baby, it was
a child.
SPEAKER_03 (25:33):
I may have
accidentally killed someone in
cold blood.
Nadiri never would have fingerguns without uh without you know
without thinking first.
SPEAKER_08 (25:44):
Well, I mean, Zayn
walked in the door and blasted
somebody with an Eldritch blast, threw them across the room into
the back wall without saying aword.
So this is all true.
I'm pretty sure that he set thetone for the whole event.
SPEAKER_07 (26:04):
Um, if there hadn't
been a devil in the basement, we
might have been the bad guys inthis one.
SPEAKER_08 (26:10):
Oh, I'm pretty sure
that we weren't well, I don't
think we were the bad guys, butI'm not sure that we were the
good guys either.
Say we were the neutral guys.
SPEAKER_03 (26:21):
Yeah, if the devil
wasn't there, it definitely
would have been a are Are We theBad Guys moment?
But it there was something muchworse than us, at least at least
that we can say was down there.
SPEAKER_01 (26:35):
Always remember,
just because you bad guy doesn't
make you bad guy.
SPEAKER_08 (26:41):
So I said this in a
in a business meeting today,
that just because they're thebad guy doesn't mean they might
be telling the truth, might notbe telling the truth.
SPEAKER_00 (26:53):
True, true.
SPEAKER_06 (26:56):
Okay, uh, and last
logistical thing, you guys
Justin?
SPEAKER_02 (27:01):
Uh yeah, two
questions.
You mentioned we went back toLord Seinemonders Monday's Lord
Signeminder.
Oh, that's an apology.
Uh Lord Signander.
Uh did we bring his horse back?
Yes.
Is that a yes or I didn't hear?
(27:22):
Yes.
Yes, excellent.
And did we bring proof ofwitchcraft or just the one
survivor?
SPEAKER_08 (27:28):
We brought a bunch
of bodies.
Yeah, we brought a bunch ofbodies.
SPEAKER_02 (27:33):
We brought all the
bodies back.
SPEAKER_08 (27:34):
Oh yeah, we brought
all the bodies back.
SPEAKER_07 (27:38):
Yeah, so I have it
in my notes.
Um Voss found four rings worthabout a hundred gold each.
Uh on the left hand of the lady, there was a small tattoo with
three interloped leaves thatlook like a Celtic knot.
Did you take that too?
We did not take that.
I think we took it from thebody, though.
SPEAKER_08 (27:59):
It was a tattoo.
It was a tattoo.
Lady Rumblin.
(28:23):
Lady Rumlin.
Good guy.
Somebody threw a firewall.
SPEAKER_07 (28:29):
That was me.
Somebody threw a firewall.
I was really careful with it.
SPEAKER_08 (28:36):
The tattoo looks
like a rotary engine.
And a circle trinity symbolthingy.
Um but if you're interested, uhAndrew did put an a summary
document in the notes.
It's not 100% accurate.
(28:57):
Um, but it's close.
SPEAKER_06 (29:00):
Um okay.
Did you want to go over the lootreal quick, Andrew?
What you got?
SPEAKER_07 (29:04):
Yeah, I mean, uh so
there's the rings, 100 GP silver
necklace, uh random change, thecurved dagger that is in no way,
shape, or form evil looking witha bearded devil head and a red
ruby on the hilt.
A uh picture of a small femalechild with an address on the
back that was found on the devilas well.
(29:25):
Voss found uh the book ofShrouding Gate.
Doesn't sound ominous at all.
And Zayn found a gold ring withdiamonds worth or with diamonds
worth 315 gold pieces.
SPEAKER_08 (29:39):
350.
SPEAKER_07 (29:40):
350?
SPEAKER_06 (29:42):
No, 315.
SPEAKER_08 (29:44):
Oh no, it's worth
350 now.
SPEAKER_06 (29:46):
No, it's 350.
SPEAKER_08 (29:49):
My note is a 350.
Also found a drawing that wasripped in half of them, which
was apparently One of the guyswe killed on the main floor.
I think Brandon was I think theDM was alluding to the fact that
they were being forced to dosomething against their will by
(30:11):
holding a hostage of a child.
But we choose not to believethat.
SPEAKER_03 (30:17):
I think I casually
blamed his death on the devils,
too.
SPEAKER_06 (30:25):
Because the kid came
up crying even more when he saw
the body of one of his friends.
SPEAKER_08 (30:29):
Oh, you didn't say
he was doing it.
I didn't know he was one of hisfriends.
SPEAKER_06 (30:33):
Well, he recognized
him, right?
Alright.
Uh yeah.
How do you guys attribute thethe treasure or the loot?
SPEAKER_01 (30:45):
Does anybody else uh
are anybody on track to be able
to cast a resurrection spellthat needed to be So Zane is a
warlock?
SPEAKER_08 (30:56):
So I'm pretty sure
you don't want him resurrecting
you.
SPEAKER_02 (31:00):
Oh warlocks are bad.
Maybe you're a good warlock.
You could be a good warlock.
SPEAKER_08 (31:06):
He's not a bad, he's
not good.
But pretty much the skill set ofa warlock, you're not gonna have
a pleasant time if he brings youback to life.
SPEAKER_02 (31:15):
You could be a
celestial warlock.
SPEAKER_08 (31:20):
No, uh Zayn is not
gonna be resurrecting anybody.
So if Zayn picked up the ring,he might have just put it on his
finger, and if somebodyquestions him about it, he will
probably give it up.
But he probably if he picked itup, he would have just put it on
his finger.
SPEAKER_01 (31:41):
I got I have all
four of the rings.
Um I just hold on to them fornow.
SPEAKER_07 (31:46):
So he got the four
off he got the four off the
countess, and then you got yoursmaybe off of the lady room.
SPEAKER_08 (31:54):
No, I got it off the
devil, I think.
SPEAKER_07 (31:56):
I looted the devil.
Yeah, you got it off the ladyreal quick.
SPEAKER_08 (31:59):
Okay.
So he put it on his pinky.
SPEAKER_07 (32:05):
Maddie, I can pick
up resurrection spells because
I'm Divine Soul, but I probablywill not be picking those off.
Because it's uh I I only get tolearn one new spell each level.
SPEAKER_00 (32:15):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (32:19):
Clear as mud recap,
Justin.
SPEAKER_02 (32:22):
Good enough.
I was hanging out, actually, I'mglad you asked.
I was hanging out.
Novax was hanging out with uhJaegan.
Jagin?
Jaegan?
The water bell?
He's really concerned about hiswell-being.
And what you guys finished up atthe trail along behind you.
And eventually.
SPEAKER_08 (32:41):
Sorcerer warlock
monkey cleric.
Who's Oh, you're the one thatshould pick up the resurrection
spell?
SPEAKER_01 (32:51):
Yeah, that's why I
am.
Okay.
SPEAKER_07 (32:54):
Alright.
And then there was one morething in my inventory.
It's a big ass bag of gold thatwe got from Lord Simoner, but we
don't know the quantity of it.
But it feels more than the 15gold pieces per person that we
were expecting.
SPEAKER_02 (33:08):
Can I have some?
I don't work for free.
You didn't do anything.
I saved the fucking horses.
Get the fuck out of here.
The actual mission we were sentto do.
Get the fuck out of here.
SPEAKER_06 (33:19):
The bag of gold is
220 gold pieces.
Got it.
SPEAKER_01 (33:23):
Andrew, what you
send the book was?
I didn't actually get that onein my note.
So what 44 gold pieces each?
You said I picked up a book.
SPEAKER_07 (33:31):
Yeah, you picked up
a book called uh the book of
Shrouding Gate.
SPEAKER_06 (33:36):
Yep.
So you guys have had two daysbetween that uh that incident
and the current one.
You do not have a bastion justyet, but something may present
itself during this episode orthe next to give you a bastion.
Um so whatever in or pub youguys are in, uh relaxing, or
(33:57):
even your individual homes, isthere anything you would have
wanted to accomplish over thoselast two days?
Whether that is figuring outwhat the dagger is or reading
that book that you got, orwhatever.
SPEAKER_01 (34:10):
Yeah, I wanna I
wanna look into the book more
and figure out what this bookactually is, but I think first
I'd want to spend some time likedetermining if it's evil magic
to cast uh words or hard.
That's what I would like to do.
Before creating it.
SPEAKER_06 (34:31):
Yeah, it's on the
book itself, you don't there's
no evil magic on it, no goodmagic on it.
SPEAKER_01 (34:37):
Okay.
And yeah, I'll just kind ofcasually read the book over the
next couple of days.
SPEAKER_06 (34:42):
Alright, so warning,
lure dump in in route.
Take about 20 seconds.
Alright, so the Shrouding Gate, the book that you picked up,
it's an ancient one-way portalfrom hell that can only be
activated with a specific ritualperformed once per day.
When activated, the ShroudingGate functions as a gate spell,
and it can be used up to threetimes before it is rendered
(35:04):
useless for an entire year.
The ritual involves a specificrhyme in infernal that acts as a
command word, and a livingsacrifice of a creature.
The sacrifice must be performedwithin the circle with a uh
sacrifice of a hellishsacrificial sacrificial dagger,
a specific magical weapon forgedin hell.
(35:25):
Upon the completion of theritual, the Shroudic Gate
summons a devil named during theritual, or if no devil is named,
a bearded devil.
The devil is unsummoned andbanished back to hell when the
requested task is performed, orwhen the devil dies on the
materi material plane.
SPEAKER_01 (35:42):
So I kind of imagine
we're all sitting around a pub,
maybe drinking a beer, and Daneset his or sorry, Voss.
I'm no longer Dane, I'm Voss.
Voss has his uh feet kicked up,and he finally gets to the end
of this book, and he closes itand he sets it down, he says,
Well, that's two days of mylife, I'll never get back.
SPEAKER_06 (36:04):
So if you guys
recall from the last session, uh
the child said a devil wassummoned and it flew away prior
to uh prior to you all gettingthere, and you guys took out the
second devil.
SPEAKER_07 (36:20):
So if I understand
correctly, we have within 24
hours of the ritual to killanother person and summon
another devil, is that right?
SPEAKER_06 (36:29):
That is correct.
If you wanted to s uh summon athird devil, you could sacrifice
a human being or anotherhumanoid individual and summon a
devil.
The actual it's gotta be anintelligence score of six or
higher.
Well, there goes Voss.
SPEAKER_08 (36:49):
So, Justin, just so
you know, in case you didn't
catch what uh Maddie said, Vosor Maddie's character is now
Voss Dane instead of Dane Voss.
SPEAKER_01 (36:59):
Too confusing.
SPEAKER_08 (37:00):
And the reason was
is because we have we have Zane
and Dane, so it would beconfusing for the listeners.
So it's now Zane and Voth.
SPEAKER_02 (37:11):
Was familiar with
the confusion, actually.
SPEAKER_06 (37:14):
Okay.
Anyone else who wanted to doanything during that time?
Uh spend another five minutesdoing this, then we'll get into
the actual episode.
Uh Justin.
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (37:23):
Yeah, uh, so uh
Novax will like wander the
streets and recruit some urchinthat has some potential and
start uh like training him, bring it bring him under his
wing and start training him as athief.
As a little underling, hireling.
Take care of him, train him, prep him.
SPEAKER_06 (37:40):
Alright.
Uh roll me a D10.
SPEAKER_02 (37:43):
I was like, I don't
have my dice out.
SPEAKER_01 (37:44):
It's I gotta find
it.
This is uh this is to determineif you get a kid with Down
syndrome or not.
I don't think No, no.
SPEAKER_06 (37:53):
Um Alright, so uh
the urchin uh to take care of
and to continue following you asa hireling is gonna require four
silver pieces a day.
Or sorry, four copper pieces aday.
SPEAKER_02 (38:06):
Done and done.
SPEAKER_06 (38:07):
If he's a good
little urchin, I'll give him a
I'm gonna I'm gonna have totrust you on this one.
I'm not gonna be able to keeptrack of all this stuff.
So four copper a day for yourindividual hireling.
SPEAKER_02 (38:20):
Just as the money to
pay him.
I have eight hundred andseventy-seven gold right now.
I think we'll be okay.
I'll just subtract one and callhim good for a year.
Fair.
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (38:30):
Alright.
Phil.
SPEAKER_08 (38:32):
Uh Zane is going to
be researching and looking for
uh written material like librarybooks and stuff like that to try
to help him in his goal toresearch and find more
information out about the towerand its operatives and that kind
of thing.
SPEAKER_06 (38:52):
Alright, roll me a
D10.
Okay, uh, through your research,uh you didn't find any specific
names because the tower keepsits its closest uh its closest
or uh the highest circle, theykeep it very close to the chest,
they don't let people know, butyou kept seeing uh references of
the chosen being said over andover again.
SPEAKER_00 (39:15):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (39:16):
And during your
research, you've also found out
that the chosen uh changes everyone fiscal year.
SPEAKER_08 (39:24):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (39:27):
So annually the
chosen is uh swaps out to
another high level taker or highhigh level keeper within the
circle.
SPEAKER_03 (39:35):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (39:36):
Ray.
SPEAKER_03 (39:38):
Uh I guess I'll try
to Well, that dagger is just the
ritual dagger, right?
Well, what do you figure thatout?
I don't have identify oranything, so I guess I'll try to
see if I can figure out anythingabout the dagger.
SPEAKER_07 (39:52):
Yeah, I mean, if
you're interested in the dagger,
I probably should jump you onthat, because I've got the
dagger.
Um, so I would have approachedthe group to figure out what we
do with the dagger.
Uh Lord Seinmonder had indicatedthat if we bring proof of
witches or hags or whatever tothe tower, then the uh what is
(40:13):
the the bounty for it would beours.
And so that's kind of mypriority is I don't really care
what this dagger is.
Uh it might be worth some money.
And so I would owe it to therest of the group as to you
know, especially with two toweragents in the group, as to one,
do we trust the tower enough tohave this dagger that clearly is
(40:34):
part of something, you know, notgreat?
And then two, do we try and cashin on it or do we you know save
it for rainy day?
SPEAKER_03 (40:44):
That's where I was
going with that more so uh I
want to try to find outpotentially are we turning over
something that's gonna makethings a lot worse?
Like, does the government needanother nuclear weapon?
You know, it's that type ofdeal.
SPEAKER_06 (41:01):
So as a as a
homebrew rule, if you will, so
as a DD rule, in as an actual DDrule, you don't have to have
identified to figure out what anitem does.
Uh you can spend a uh a periodof a long rest and focus on it
and uh and and figure out mostof its properties.
(41:22):
So but as a what I generally dofor it is if you have
proficiency in arcana and spenda uh a short rest, or sorry, if
you have proficiency in arcanaand you spend a long rest on it,
I'll give you the properties ofthe item.
SPEAKER_03 (41:38):
I am proficient in
the arcanas.
SPEAKER_02 (41:41):
I thought it was a
short rest, is that long rest?
Rules is written as a shortrest, but rules is written as
short rest.
That's totally fine.
I was just checking.
SPEAKER_06 (41:50):
Uh so if one of you
want to spend that time to try
to identify this item.
SPEAKER_07 (41:54):
I think Harleck is,
I'm not gonna try and identify
it.
I just I'm looking for the cash.
SPEAKER_06 (41:58):
So that's what
you're spending your time doing,
Harleck?
SPEAKER_03 (42:01):
Yep.
SPEAKER_06 (42:02):
Okay.
Uh so you're good aligned?
SPEAKER_03 (42:07):
Probably.
SPEAKER_06 (42:09):
Uh because I asked
you that last time, Andrew.
Yeah, you asked me what myalignment was.
SPEAKER_03 (42:14):
Yep.
SPEAKER_06 (42:15):
Uh so Harleck, as
you touch the handle of this, uh
you immediately start burning onyour hand and you drop it.
So you're not able to hold on tothis dagger.
But I don't but I'll I'll sayyou take precautions, you're
wearing gloves or wrap it insomething, and you start uh you
start i inspecting this.
(42:37):
Um so this is a curved andserrated magical dagger that's
made in the furnaces of hell andcraft of steel hardened by blood
from the sacrifices of mortals.
While wielding this item, yougain a plus one bonus to attack
and damage roles made with thisweapon.
If you use it against a creaturewith zero hit points or kill a
creature using the dagger, itautomatically dies.
(42:59):
Its soul is sent to hell.
Creatures slain in such a mattercannot be brought back to life
except by a spell likeResurrection or Wish.
While killing a creature with anintelligence score of six or
more with this weapon, thewielder gains the benefits of an
aid spell for one hour.
When you hit a celestial withit, the target takes an extra
1d8 damage, and if a goodaligned creature touches the
(43:20):
dagger, it suffers 1d8 necroticdamage at the start of its turn
for as long as it remains incontact with it.
SPEAKER_05 (43:26):
That's a sick
dagger.
Oh, this thing's crazy.
SPEAKER_06 (43:30):
I will drop the full
description in the chat.
SPEAKER_02 (43:33):
What do you say in
the chat?
You're talking about therecording chat or the notes
chat?
SPEAKER_06 (43:37):
Recording chat.
SPEAKER_08 (43:38):
He doesn't use the
notes chat.
SPEAKER_02 (43:41):
I know, I'll move
it.
SPEAKER_06 (43:44):
And uh anything
else, Harleck?
SPEAKER_03 (43:48):
Nah, that's probably
it.
SPEAKER_06 (43:49):
Alright.
And Xanover.
SPEAKER_07 (43:51):
I'd probably uh
commit oh sh I need to redo my
key binding, but I would commitmy time to uh working on my
crafting.
SPEAKER_06 (43:59):
Okay.
So you have now currently spentthree days crafting.
SPEAKER_08 (44:04):
What are you making?
The vibrator.
Nice.
SPEAKER_07 (44:08):
I'm making a Lux
Stone.
SPEAKER_02 (44:10):
Um, the Luxor, yeah.
SPEAKER_07 (44:13):
Yeah.
Since I only need a long restfor four hours, how many hours
worth of work can I get duringthose three days?
24 or I'm sorry, say that onetime.
But so I only need to spend fourhours in a trance on my long
rest.
So during the period of time, how many hours of the 80 can I
knock out?
(44:33):
Oh, I one day is eight hours.
SPEAKER_06 (44:36):
Just yeah.
Okay.
So no bonus time, no overtime.
Nope.
SPEAKER_02 (44:42):
Alright.
Just drain from concentrating onthis thing for so long.
SPEAKER_06 (44:45):
It's so it's so
demanding.
And you just get distracted byuh uh boss's just abs as he's
working out.
Just playing with my rocks whileI watch Voss.
Playing with your rocks asyou're watching the rocks.
SPEAKER_02 (44:59):
Wait, Voss isn't
that yoked?
He can't even wear his armor.
SPEAKER_06 (45:04):
He's still the most
young of all of us.
Alright.
So the King's Games.
You all have been around for awhile.
You know the King's Games werefirst held by uh the first ruler
of the Azenard dynasty, um,which is a long, long time ago.
It originally included only theBattle of Champions, but over
(45:26):
the years it has grown to becomea kingdom-wide celebration with
many smaller contests availablefor the broader public.
Preparations for this uh daystart weeks before, and the
whole kingdom, especially thecapital, buzzes with the
anticipation of this.
So, as your group is well knownas heroes in the kingdom, you
are expected to participate inthe uh King's Games.
(45:51):
You all do not have toparticipate in every challenge,
but you all have to participatein at least one challenge.
The the challenge at the uh endof the games is called the uh
the Battle of the Champions.
It is a 1v1 arena style fight, but to get to that, you have to
(46:11):
place first in one of the games.
SPEAKER_01 (46:13):
What are our game
options?
SPEAKER_06 (46:15):
Okay.
So the the games are randomlychosen, one at a time.
Uh they start in the morning.
You have the option once thegame is announced to sign up for
it or not sign up for it.
Multiple of you can sign up forthe same games.
They cost three gold perindividual to participate in the
game.
SPEAKER_01 (46:35):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (46:36):
Uh and the winner
gets a prize for the game and
automatic entry into the Battleof Champions.
SPEAKER_01 (46:43):
Sounds fun.
SPEAKER_06 (46:44):
Alright.
Uh, these are meant to be skillchallenges.
They are gonna go very quickly.
Each game should take no morethan ten game minutes.
Challenge accepted.
SPEAKER_08 (46:58):
So, um well, I'll
we'll we'll figure out like what
kind of games are there?
Like, can you give us past gamesthat happen?
SPEAKER_06 (47:06):
So uh some of them
are strength challenges, some of
them can be archery challenges, some of them are puzzles, uh,
some of them may be singingchallenges, right?
Uh and they are typicallyaligned with the history of the
kingdom.
So, for instance, there is theremay be a game called The Sams of
(47:29):
Anarchy, where it is a uh a brait's a strength-based brute
force challenge, based off of afamous half-work that the
kingdom knew from ages ago.
SPEAKER_02 (47:42):
Sounds like a really
stand-up dude.
SPEAKER_06 (47:45):
She was wonderful.
That's very racist of you.
SPEAKER_02 (47:49):
That's not racist.
SPEAKER_07 (47:52):
Did the did the Sams
of Anarchy ride any hogs?
SPEAKER_06 (47:56):
They she did not,
but some of her companions did.
Believe it or not, didn't returnthem.
SPEAKER_00 (48:02):
Not shot.
SPEAKER_06 (48:06):
If Moores didn't
return them, Sam wouldn't return
them.
SPEAKER_02 (48:08):
Yeah, because Sam
can pick up a pig and then
teleport back.
SPEAKER_06 (48:12):
Fair.
Alright.
So, uh, on the morning of theKings games, uh Yes, Bill.
SPEAKER_08 (48:22):
Sorry.
Um, so are we divvying out the44 gold each that we got?
You said 220, that's 44 each.
Yeah, yeah.
Are we diving that out amongsteach other, or is there gonna be
a little bit more?
SPEAKER_07 (48:37):
If you want to add
44 now, you can, and then we can
add the rest of it later.
SPEAKER_08 (48:41):
I'm just saying,
because I only have 200 and
something.
SPEAKER_02 (48:44):
Adding 44 gold to my
inventory.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_07 (48:47):
Everyone add 44
gold.
And add another 15 from our timein Dunhollow.
SPEAKER_02 (48:53):
Adding 15 gold, that
little peon's mine for life.
SPEAKER_06 (48:58):
Hmm.
SPEAKER_02 (48:59):
I'll give him a
raise.
SPEAKER_06 (49:01):
Eventually.
Alright, so the town, uh, or thethe the capital of the kingdom
of Anunbar, uh, is it's beenmeticulously cleaned, right?
The streets have been cleaned uhfor days before the day.
Uh people dress up in their orpeople are dressed up in their
most festive outfits, and almostall the shops are closed except
(49:23):
for the tavern and inns.
And they're all full of numerousvisitors from the countryside.
Everybody's come into theCapitol to see this this huge uh
this huge day, the King Games.
Even neighboring country fromthe city stuff, the draw city
states have come in.
Uh, the streets are crowded withpeople who wander around the
city following the eventlocations, popping up one after
(49:45):
another.
Most major roads of the city uhare dotted with small tents and
stalls of vendor.
They sell everything from uhfood, toys, clothes, jewelry,
handcrafted products, you nameit, there's probably a stand for
it.
And they're all shouting overone another, trying to bring you
in and sell you things.
There is a a magically enhancedspeaker that announces the game
(50:10):
or or event that's about to takeplace 30 minutes prior to the
event start.
So it gives you time to prepare, time to set up, whatever you
need to do.
Uh contestants, so the rules ofeach game are the contestants
are free to use spells duringany contest, but only if they
can cast it on themselves.
No outside help can be acceptedfor uh can be accepted except
(50:33):
for verbal advice.
The host of the event acts as afinal judge in a case of a
dispute.
So on the morning of the day, uhthe entire royal family takes a
uh procession comes out andtakes a tour around the city.
Uh they're they're riding in abeautiful carriage surrounded by
their most pompous entourage,right?
Uh it's you've got courtmusicians playing marching, uh
(50:57):
playing marching music, servantsand maids throwing pedals, food,
even uh bits of silver andcopper out to uh the the common
folk as they pass them.
But most importantly, theknights of the crown are riding
their their war horses throughthe procession around the king's
(51:17):
carriages.
They come out of the royalpalace, they'll go down the
roads, um, over the bridges, andthrough the woods.
And thank you, Bill, forlaughing at that.
Um, before finally returning tothe palace through the Queen's
Bridge.
SPEAKER_01 (51:35):
Do these knights
wear red cloaks with capes?
SPEAKER_06 (51:38):
They actually do.
SPEAKER_01 (51:40):
Hoods?
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (51:41):
Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (51:42):
Baskets with
goodies.
SPEAKER_06 (51:44):
Alright.
So uh the first game gets uhbrought up and some dice here.
Alright.
So a large announcement uh largea loud announcement is made, and
it says The first event is theBattle of the Tipsy Tunes.
(52:08):
First prize is a magic scroll ofthe instant tense spell.
It will also be held in aninstant tense spell that was
made from the same magic scroll, sponsored by the Emporium of
Marvelous Rarities.
So, Tipsy Tunes, you guys haveseen this one before.
Uh, you know that the TipsyTunes is a uh performance-based
(52:32):
event.
Typically, the uh somebody hasto perform either a tune or an
act, followed by taking a shotof some extremely strong liquor
and then performing another act.
So there's three to four hacks, each of them are followed by a
shot of some strong liquor, um,which obviously throws off their
(52:53):
performance, and they've got tobe the best performance at the
end of the game.
SPEAKER_07 (52:57):
Interesting.
I think I think Xaniver beingthe charismatic person that they
are would sign up for that one.
SPEAKER_02 (53:05):
Is there an entrance
fee or any drawback, any
limitation on the number ofstuff we can join?
SPEAKER_06 (53:11):
There is not a
limitation on the number of can
of contestants, but it's threegold pieces per event that you
want to sign up for.
So, who would like to sign upfor the Tipsy Tunes?
SPEAKER_03 (53:22):
Oh my constitution's
terrible, but I'll give it a
shot.
SPEAKER_01 (53:28):
Voss is out.
He'll mumble something aboutpitching a tent in his pants and
say it's not worth his time.
Okay.
I go over and sit down.
SPEAKER_06 (53:36):
Uh Voss is that if
there's anything you'd like to
do during this time, whetherthat's go and find some food,
uh, just send me a DM.
Okay.
I think I heard he's pitching atent.
He is pitching a tent.
SPEAKER_01 (53:57):
Alright.
SPEAKER_06 (53:57):
Uh what about the
rest of you?
Are you signing up for this?
SPEAKER_08 (54:00):
Uh I guess so it's
singing and drinking, right?
SPEAKER_06 (54:05):
It's performing.
Doesn't necessarily have to besinging.
SPEAKER_08 (54:08):
Okay.
So I mean, I should do it.
I have yeah, I guess it'stotally not in line with
something Zayn would do, butyeah.
No, I'm not gonna do it.
SPEAKER_06 (54:25):
Okay.
Nelvax?
SPEAKER_02 (54:27):
Do I know what that
do I know what that spell does?
The spell scroll?
SPEAKER_06 (54:31):
Uh yeah, it
instantly uh creates a tent, um,
which can be used for cover, andit's got a magic uh a s uh a
slight magical protection on itthat can protect uh protect from
projectiles.
SPEAKER_02 (54:44):
Cool.
And it's just the we can see aone spell casting ourselves
during the duration of the wholething?
SPEAKER_06 (54:51):
You can you are free
to use spells during the contest
period, but you can only castthem on yourself.
SPEAKER_02 (54:58):
Sweet.
So does minor illusion count ascasting on myself, or would it
only like a self-targetedability?
SPEAKER_06 (55:07):
That's totally fine.
Now, I will say as a DM, I willalso allow some kind of
deception or try to, you know, trick or fool somebody else, or
even give outside aid.
But there is gonna be a chancethat the guards will detect you
and there will be consequencesfor trying to cheat in the
games.
(55:27):
This is almost a holy levelevent in the city.
SPEAKER_02 (55:31):
Yeah, I'll uh I'll
just like I'll ruffle through my
bag and just like toss threecoins out.
Still trying to figure out how Ican make advantage of this, but
I think I think he wants to trybecause it's good to win it
stuff, you know?
SPEAKER_06 (55:43):
Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_03 (55:45):
Arlak?
Uh yeah, he's gonna be signingup for this.
SPEAKER_06 (55:48):
Alright.
Xanover?
Um sorry, go ahead, Arlek.
SPEAKER_03 (55:52):
No, no, no, you're
good.
SPEAKER_06 (55:53):
Okay.
Xanover?
Xanovir's in.
Um Did you change your mind,Zane?
Yes.
Alright.
Okay.
So, uh the first event starts.
A large crowd uh comes to thewide and open dragon plaza where
the Battle of the Tipsy Tunes isheld.
All the bench sheets are takenaround you.
(56:15):
Uh the crowd is uh it's in apacked terrace, and uh the
master of the ceremony is noneother than uh a master master
conductor Fabian.
Um he's legendary in the Collegeof Minstrels, and so he's there
to judge and and uh not onlyjudge, but also to ensure the
(56:38):
rules are followed.
So, general rules.
Uh Master Fabian, MasterConductor Fabian walks up to the
and magically enhances his voiceand says Each contestant takes
turns performing up to fiveminutes measured by this
hourglass, after which the crowdwill judge you based off of uh
(57:03):
based off of how loud theirapplause and roar of approval
are or boos.
These rounds of performance eachtake a maximum of 30 minutes
with all contestants.
Who would like to go first?
SPEAKER_02 (57:17):
Uh is that did
anybody sign up besides us?
SPEAKER_06 (57:20):
Yes, there are
several of other contestants.
You see uh three othersactually.
One is a uh human female, andshe carries a loot with her,
another is a uh a she seems kindof soft-spoken, kind of glances,
(57:40):
glances to the side a lot, butshe is a female elf.
She carries a loot, and thethird is a what looks like to be
a full elf.
Um, but he does look like a he'svery confident and he dances
around while playing a violin.
SPEAKER_08 (57:57):
So Zane will step
forward if nobody else does.
Well, if Zane will step forward.
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (58:06):
Uh so as soon as you
step forward, a what looks to be
a shot glass is handed well, ashot glass is handed to you, and
you're expected to drink thisprior to performing.
SPEAKER_08 (58:21):
Okay.
Um if it's time for me toperform, then he will he will
drink it.
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (58:32):
As soon as the taste
hits you, you recognize this as
uh spirited leaf liquor.
Uh it's a distilled version ofan herbal brew prepared by the
local monks.
And so I need you to make me aconstitution saving firm.
I the save is 12.
SPEAKER_08 (58:51):
I did not make it.
Okay.
I I rolled a I rolled a threewith a plus three for six.
SPEAKER_06 (58:57):
Okay, so for the
next hour, you have the poison
effect on you.
SPEAKER_08 (59:03):
So he's a
disadvantage on everything?
SPEAKER_06 (59:05):
Yes.
SPEAKER_08 (59:06):
Too bad I didn't get
inspiration.
SPEAKER_06 (59:10):
Oh, you do have
inspiration.
I thought I gave it to you, I'msorry.
Do you want to re-roll that?
Go for it.
Um, yes, I want to re-roll that.
Go for it.
Conceive a 12.
SPEAKER_08 (59:22):
Oh my.
SPEAKER_06 (59:28):
That does not mean
or be.
SPEAKER_08 (59:31):
Alright, so I'm
poisoned.
Everything is at disadvantage, which sucks, but it doesn't
matter.
SPEAKER_06 (59:37):
So please describe
your performance.
What would you like to do?
SPEAKER_08 (59:39):
Okay.
So Zayn takes a step forward ina deep voice.
He says that he is going to actout the story of the halfling
versus the orc.
And with a f with a um, you'llsee.
(01:00:00):
Him uh he is gonna play bothparts and he will use disguised
self and minor illusion to makehimself look like an orc a full
orc instead of a half orc sohe'll grow and be a little bit
bigger and a little bit moreorc-like and draw his uh draw
(01:00:24):
his long sword and hold it outand say you little halfling will
taste my blade and you willnever survive and then he will
um spin around and castingchanging his disguised self and
his minor illusion he will makehimself look similar to a
(01:00:46):
halfling except for it's gonnabe a very big halfling because
you can only do so much but uhso he will you will see his um
his blade has he has swapped outhis blade for a small dagger and
he said and the halfling says ina higher pitched voice he says
(01:01:07):
I'm not afraid of you there'snothing you can do to me and
then he spins backing basicallyback and forth he is taking
turns acting out as the orc andthe halfling in a battle and
basically a stage battle wherehe's swings his sword and then
he spins around and he blocksthe sword and then he spins it
(01:01:27):
back and forth and back andforth and he acts like he's
battling himself.
SPEAKER_06 (01:01:32):
Okay um so I didn't
say this before but I want to
make sure first off awesome RPuh but I wanted to make sure if
you use a spell here you'vegotta mark it off on your
character sheet.
SPEAKER_08 (01:01:44):
They're both at
will.
SPEAKER_06 (01:01:45):
I know that I'm just
letting you know uh letting
everybody know.
SPEAKER_08 (01:01:48):
Uh oh yeah I looked
at his character sheet Okay so
roll me a performance check atdisadvantage it is a
disadvantage even though I dideven though I did awesome role
play I don't get any kind ofbonuses but that's fine you
think you're doing well butyou're drunk a good point I oh
(01:02:13):
my god what's your role Bill aone for a four all right uh the
the crowd I mean you get a fewuh polite applauds uh and uh do
any of your companions doanything absolutely a cheer for
(01:02:33):
you this is the best performanceall day yeah I think uh Voss is
over in the stands roaringhaving a good time um and giving
him a big cheer with a tanker toXander will use minor illusion
to create the sound of booingfrom the stands so uh Zayn with
(01:03:02):
a flourish will do a huge bowand stumble okay kind of stumble
off to the side that is afreaking crap roll I have shitty
rolls dude I have rolled whatsix D20s tonight the highest
(01:03:23):
roll I've gotten was a five.
SPEAKER_02 (01:03:26):
Yeah that's rough
alright who's next we'll wait uh
pregnant pause and if none ofthe other people or randos are
gonna jump in then he'll do it.
unknown (01:03:38):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (01:03:39):
Loaded low
performance a high performance
we're just gonna you're handed adouble shot of liquor uh is it
is it a single double shot or isit two separate shots it is a
single double shot same sizethat uh um Zayn was handed I'm
gonna show how good I am atdrinking by like slinging it up
(01:04:00):
in the air so all the liquidgoes up in a line and then like
just position myself under it tojust catch it with my mouth
open.
Yeah um Nelvex you have you'rejust you're so in tune with your
inner sailor because this isJustin Justin is Nelvex Nelvex
is Justin uh that I'm not evengonna make you roll for that
(01:04:24):
this is the new Bill's Glen UmAlright give me a con save 12 or
higher alright that's uh 17total 14 plus three yeah and no
problem you've drank so much ofthis it's not even an issue for
you what your performance drunkyet it's just uh we're not that
(01:04:46):
drunk so having grown up in thekingdom I would know about some
of like the historical stuffthat's really important so I
would like to uh cast well inthe warm-up phase before this
goes in I'd like to cast uhguidance on myself as a cantrip.
Okay uh just to you know get thef get the juices flowing make
(01:05:08):
sure I'm feeling good get I dida warm up from the throat and
then I'm gonna pretend to singwith minor illusion.
SPEAKER_06 (01:05:14):
Is minor illusion
isn't a concentration is it?
SPEAKER_02 (01:05:16):
It is not a
concentration.
It is a a sound only and I canrange it from whisper to scream
it can be my voice and itcontinues unabated during the
during the duration.
So I'm looking for like an arialike some kind of like a really
significant emotional historicalpiece that conveys a a victory
or a loss.
Maybe like the last time aroyalty died and there was like
(01:05:37):
a performance that some of theolder generation might remember.
I'm just looking to likerecreate that uh hopefully not
really are you looking for luredump here or are you uh sure
yeah hit me um last time aroyalty was killed the king's
(01:05:57):
wife probably right if when thehags were doing their bullshit
yeah I mean so how long ago wasthat a couple years maybe yeah
it's not that long ago the kidgrew up a little bit since then
right yeah he's a prince he's ahe's he's he's he's a young man
now.
Yeah so I'd like to say likethat was the first like real
memory that Nelvax has in thecity after his monastery was
(01:06:21):
raised.
So he came and that was like thefirst time he felt like he was
part of something because he wasthere with the community doing
the thing.
So he's gonna try to recreatethat magically not with his own
which is not any better thantrying to do it magic.
SPEAKER_06 (01:06:33):
Alright uh give me a
performance roll oh crap I was
hoping it might be somethingdifferent.
SPEAKER_02 (01:06:39):
Well uh 16 plus zero
is not so bad.
SPEAKER_06 (01:06:43):
That that passes 15
was a save.
Uh so yeah the the the crowd ischeering um you you're getting
some applause and yeah good jobhell yeah very cool is there
another shot now or are we justyou just still go just do our
thing the next round is alrightHarlech or Xaniver I can go or
(01:07:07):
the or the Randos too.
SPEAKER_03 (01:07:09):
Oh the Randos too
there are Randos there are three
randos we scream off no I don'tcare I can go though go for it
uh so Harleck walks up onto thestage and went out and does his
uh he has his his turtle shellcitern thing which is you know
like the size of a base for him.
Uh and he was like taps it realquick to get uh silent image
(01:07:32):
going and as I set it up I'mgonna create like my own little
mini stage with like all kindsof crazy like lights and weird
effects going on to try toamplify the show.
Uh and then Harleck's just gonnasing a a good old tune that
everyone's familiar with threekobolds in a trench coat yeah a
Jonesy tune for everybody.
SPEAKER_06 (01:07:53):
Okay.
SPEAKER_08 (01:07:54):
Alright uh roll me a
performance oh sorry first a
concert oh yeah I have to dothis oh no but Harleck's so
small 12 or higher you arepoisoned for the next hour give
me a performance roll atdisadvantage fifteen or higher
(01:08:16):
sixteen at disadvantage still asixteen nice alright yeah the
the cloud the the crowd applauseor applauds uh you get some
cheers and uh you walk off stageXanvert so Zayn is applauding to
(01:08:36):
both of them as well along withuh the crowd and probably overly
loud okay still a supporter he'salso drunk fair oh yeah all
right uh first question whathappens to the shot glasses when
(01:08:58):
people are done drinking wouldit be something that Xaniver
could swipe I you could probablyswipe your own but not nobody
else's okay no I was gonna seeif I could swipe an empty one to
pretend to drink and provide anempty glass.
SPEAKER_06 (01:09:13):
No, as soon as it's
taken another handler takes it
and moves away with it.
SPEAKER_07 (01:09:17):
Alright uh so I'll
roll the con save yep I'll be a
21 to save that saves?
Yeah you just gut this no poisonuh so Xaniver being as deeply
religious as he is is going torecount the story of his goddess
who very few people have heardof uh the myth of Sara Dwin uh
(01:09:41):
she's a powerful enchantress andgoddess who lived with her
husband uh in the Feywild withtheir two children a daughter
named uh Siri and a ill-favoredson named Warfan uh what's that
oh you think you're the only onewho gets the lord up oh no
that's not what I sorry go aheadanyway um and so he'll go into
(01:10:04):
the story of Serduin brewing amagical concoction to kind of um
give rebirth to her son so thathe is no longer this hideous um
ill-fated child that he is uhbut the assistant that she hires
ends up drinking it himself andthen there's a chase that
follows and eventually uh shefinds the assistant and slays
(01:10:27):
them and that's the end of thestory there isn't anything great
that happens with it okayalright roll me a performance no
I thought you were originallytalking about like witcher lure
that's why I said oh my god okayuh that's a 26 on my performance
uh yeah the the crowd eruptsjust starts like roaring
(01:10:51):
clapping their hands uh you geta few people standing up they're
just they're so impressed withyou yeah I think as I'm walking
off I'll look over at Harleckand just say I mean I'm no
two-bit bard but I feel likethat was a good story.
SPEAKER_03 (01:11:04):
Oof so Zayn
overhearing that says oh don't
sell yourself short you'redefinitely a two-bit bard he's
not handling his liquor verywell being uh being way too
(01:11:25):
small for that big of a drink Ithrow a couple copper at you
either way and then I do I throwsome copper at him yeah I make
it rain I make it hail I'm gonnasoil Zan's pants with pressed
digitation looks like you I'mnot wearing any pants right now
(01:11:51):
how do you think I perform sowell by distracting them with
the comedic lack of pants?
SPEAKER_06 (01:11:57):
I don't the other
three uh contestants uh walk up
uh the first the first one wasmeh okay um and and the third
one just failed miserably gotbooed off stage but the the
second one walked up there anduh it was the very confident elf
starts strumming his uh hisviolin or strumming starts
(01:12:22):
playing his violin and he'sdancing around the stage and he
just starts singing oh the kingis gold and queen has grace but
the baker's buns run this wholedamn place the nights all shine
and lords all prance but it'stax day soon so drop your pants
raise your mugs and give a cheerfor peace prosperity and cheaper
(01:12:44):
beer and the crowd just goesabsolutely fucking wild starts
cheering sorry go ahead nope I'msorry I keep interrupting you
first uh the crowd just goeswild starts starts cheering lit
mugs are thrown up liquid justspills everywhere uh and uh on
his way down he hands a fewcopper out so that people can
(01:13:07):
replenish their beer we takelittle copper coin squeeze it
between my thumb and my middlefinger and just stick it at him
you hit a sprinkler oh no whathappens all right so uh after
the first round uh the next tworounds are gonna go much quicker
but after the first round theannouncer comes back up and he
(01:13:30):
says thank you for all theparticipants moving forward we
have Xaniver not Sam NelvaxHarlek and Zomaza Alright round
two we're just gonna take theshot do the rolls and we're
(01:13:50):
gonna move on so Nelvax you'reup first uh do I have time to
have oh sorry go ahead oh forpoison for drinking yeah what's
up I don't even know what it was12 total no no no no no I'm
sorry you had a question firstdo you have time for what uh I
did I was gonna ask if my myspell was maintained or if I
(01:14:14):
could cast another one guidanceand uh I'm gonna use jump this
time I would prefer jump overguidance if I could take both
that'd be great.
Only one is how long does Howlong does guidance last?
SPEAKER_02 (01:14:25):
Guidance lasts one
minute concentration.
I can recast it as a cantrip.
SPEAKER_06 (01:14:29):
So I would say you
have time to cast guidance on
your way up if you would like touse that.
SPEAKER_02 (01:14:33):
Does that mean I
cannot use jump?
Because I'd rather use jump thanguidance.
SPEAKER_06 (01:14:36):
No you can use jump.
Jump is an action right sixseconds?
SPEAKER_02 (01:14:38):
Nope jump is a spell
the jump spell right but it's a
but it takes six seconds to castright great excellent I'm gonna
do that uh twelve con save noit's a 15 con save for round two
(01:14:59):
well I got a 12 though oh sorrybud you have the poisoned effect
oh actually you have guidance ohyeah let me just add uh d4 skill
shots not saves oh a build usingchosen skill sorry I do use
athletics by the way totallyfine I'm not immune to poison
(01:15:22):
just yet that's a bummer I amthe poisoned Le Poisoned Alright
give me a performance roll uh somy performance is a uh series of
acrobatic feats I'm using jumpso that every time I flip I get
higher and higher I prefer touse acrobatics but I'll do
performance if you require I dowell that's a bummer I have
(01:15:43):
disadvantage and I get a that'snot dexterity so I get nothing
on that.
Well I got a one and a four onthe dice plus zero for one.
SPEAKER_08 (01:15:53):
Uh just crickets you
don't hear booze you don't hear
applause no no none of theaudience is making any sound at
all unless one of yourcompanions are oh yeah or like
we're gonna be trying to to toapplaud and uh and like cheer
still as he's throwing up so youlook over at Zane you look over
(01:16:19):
at Zane and he's sitting in hischair like a sandy floor we are
not he apparently cannot holdhis liquor Zamar will try and
give you a slow clap and see ifhe could build up the crowd on
that but probably not with thatone.
SPEAKER_02 (01:16:39):
I imagine though I I
landed like face first in the
sand here uh with that kind of ascore uh so as I stand up I want
to take two handfuls of sand andthrow them into the air and then
try to just like sneak out ofthe stage and just stealth my
way away.
SPEAKER_06 (01:16:55):
Sure give me a
stealth roll.
Oh yeah uh I'm gonna that's adexterity save so I'm gonna
actually use how much I'm gonnasay everybody staring at you has
got to be a 13 or higher.
SPEAKER_02 (01:17:04):
Alright well that's
a 10 for now hold on uh let me
just check what guidance does aD4 that might be would you say a
12?
SPEAKER_06 (01:17:11):
13 well I got a 12
oh yeah um so you crouch you try
to sneak out and everybody'sjust staring at you as you
slowly walk off stage anything Ican do watching me do silvery
barbs too many times I'll use myboots of false tracks to leave
(01:17:32):
the footprints of a bugbearbehind me as I leave.
SPEAKER_02 (01:17:35):
Great.
SPEAKER_06 (01:17:36):
It's pretty good for
a bugbear just saying Harleck
you're up I do the do I havedisadvantage on the con save too
you do no not on ability checksorry not on saves sorry but it
(01:17:58):
is a 15 I got a 20 hell yeah yousaved but I'm still drunk you
still are poisoned if you wouldhave failed this the performance
check would have been higher 18at disadvantage that passes oh
(01:18:19):
shit nice yeah the the crowdapplauds uh silvery barbs I
don't have it the the crowdapplauds uh you get a few people
standing up and yeah you're ableto walk off stage alright
finally Xanavert Con save 15 orhigher uh I would like to use un
(01:18:42):
uh unwaver uh the what theunsettling words alright yeah
you you got you got it give me aperformance 17 save are you
really using it Ray because Igot something I can use too no
I'm not gonna be that I'm notgonna be an asshole 17 save
(01:19:03):
that's only 15 okay uh yeah youyou get uh a a couple people
like murmur you hear a couplepeople murmuring um but they're
just not that impressed theyjust saw a bugbear try to sneak
off stage so they're just nottoo happy about it he almost got
away with it too uh so yeah forthose meddling kids and that dog
(01:19:23):
of theirs right Zomaza comesback on stage elf just blows out
of the park once again and uhthe announcer comes back one
more time and says and finallyour semifinals we've got Harlek
versus Zomaza okay alrightHarlek uh save right please make
(01:19:52):
me a con save 17 oh shit 18alright so performance the save
is 18 or sorry DC is 18 it wentup even though he passed yes
yeah it goes up each round butit would have gone up even
higher if he failed oh a 16 youdo get some cheers uh you get
(01:20:19):
some applause so uh Zamaza goesup and he's gonna take a shot he
also fails he rolled a 16 on hisperformance I feel like
something like that would havebeen a contested because it's
you versus like one playerversus uh another would it be
disadvantage for him because hefailed his con save yeah that
(01:20:40):
was a disadvantage did your yourNPCs pass their saves too shit
no I can give myself advantageon rolls give yourself advantage
and re-roll that shit.
SPEAKER_03 (01:20:50):
Oh can I get a
guidance no outside help you can
try to help him but if somebodycatches you who's gonna know I
I've only had three drinksalright that would have been a
24 if I used my Kenku recall.
Okay never mind never mind itwas uh it's specifically for
Slight of hand and history rightnow I forgot to change it so
(01:21:11):
scratch that.
Did you were you trying tochange it?
No no no no I just saw the Kenkurecall thing and then when I
opened it up it had uh sleightof hand in history so I read the
two skills of your choice arethat you're proficient with but
uh so since it was a tie we'regonna do just performance versus
(01:21:31):
performance.
SPEAKER_02 (01:21:32):
So give me a
performance roll at disadvantage
both of you meaning Zamaza andyou so rolled a a seven you've
gotta beat a seven I think hebeats on in that one hold on
nice I think you might have readthat Rao man so that Kenku
recall you get proficiency intwo additional skills and when
(01:21:56):
you make a check in any skill inwhich you're proficient you can
give yourself advantage equal tothe number of times so I would
have been able to use that 24then totally oh awesome
regardless you do you can isthere a limited number of times
you can use that?
SPEAKER_03 (01:22:11):
I can use it three
times yeah proficiency times.
SPEAKER_06 (01:22:15):
Well good enough
anyway yeah Harleck uh you get
it standing ovation everybodystarts cheering you uh and uh
you are handed a scroll uh amagic scroll of instant tenth
spell and twenty gold pieces asa first place award I'm gonna
like turn to the group with thescroll and the the gold like I
(01:22:42):
did it guys um uh startlehimself awake and or startle
awake and and uh start clappingalright so sorry go ahead Novax
runs up to uh Harleck and justlike gives him a big hug and
(01:23:04):
claps him and says oh that allthat training and bars paid off
huh gives him a good clap in theback of bar buddies like holds
it in you are now uhautomatically entered into the
(01:23:24):
uh battle of the champions ohnow I have to fight people it's
fine you're one on one it's nota support class I mean you've
killed people you kill peopleall the time true alright
alright so uh next so real qureal quick um just in case
(01:23:48):
anybody forgot I we did restlike two days so you should you
should have all of your skillslots back true I'm seeing that
Harlick wasn't at max HP when Iwas looking at the sheet yeah I
did not do actually everybodyexcept for Veniver Alright so
it's kind of funny that Ialready mentioned this one so
(01:24:10):
another announcement is made andladies and gentlemen for the
fourth time the Sams of AnarchySo the Sams of Anarchy is an
event named after uh uh SamMooresbound uh a legendary maybe
slightly exaggerated hero whoonce bench pressed a mammoth won
(01:24:34):
an arm wrestling contest againstan Earth Elemental and punched a
hill so hard it became a valleythat sounds right damn strength
I mean come on um can uh this isgenerally a game of uh the the
games change each year but thisgame specifically is a it's a
(01:24:54):
it's a brawl of brute forceswagger and it's just a general
testosterone fueled pageantryright it's a it's a a man's man
muscle game um this year uhthere are three challenges the
boulder toss the chain pull andthe titan's table boulder toss
which one was boulder toss chainpull and titan's table anybody
(01:25:18):
want to sign up no box throwsthree gold on the table Ross
will stand up and kind of crackhis back and say this is this is
my kind of game uh Zayn isasleep Harlek you want to throw
your Harlecks gonna use uhdisguised self on just his arm
(01:25:40):
to make like a really ripped ohyeah no I think I'm gonna sit
this one out alright so uh yeahVoss and Nelvax please subtract
three gold what about Xaniver?
SPEAKER_02 (01:25:54):
What if he wants to?
SPEAKER_01 (01:25:55):
He shook his head no
yeah we saw what happened at the
windmill fair enough alright umbefore can I can I do a spell as
I'm like walking up or just prepsomething before the event
starts?
SPEAKER_06 (01:26:14):
Uh yes so um
standing there is a well known
sorry yeah standing there is acobalt he's a well-known uh
performance artist for the thekingdom and the kingdom uh
entertains the crown regularlyand he he's got music playing
(01:26:38):
all around him from bards andhe's just he's trying to pump up
and get everybody excited and hegoes ladies gentlemen sorcerers
farmers house cats disguised aspeople I see you out there
welcome to the gloriousthunderous absolutely
uninsurable spectacle knownacross the realms as the one the
(01:27:01):
only sands of anarchy our firstevent is going to be the Boulder
Toss who's up first is it youand he points directly down at
you boss you rewards I'm sorry Iinterrupted again that voice
(01:27:28):
hurt ya it hurt a little bit I'mnot gonna lie first place is a
uh scroll of giant strengththat's pretty slick uh before
they get started uh I have areal quick I guess meta type
question if I were to give thembardic inspiration before they
(01:27:49):
even go up on the stage wouldthere be any way that that could
be like found out about I knowthere's a lot of other bards
around that's why I'm sure Ifigured I'd ask like would I
know if that's noticeablebeforehand?
If you're asking meta wise Iwould say yes people can figure
it out as outside influence thatbeing said they would have to
(01:28:12):
roll for it but yes they canthey can determine that they
were given help and if theydon't know it was you they would
still punish the player forgetting that outside influence
right yeah and that's a andthat's more what I was trying to
get at if if like if we knewthat they'd be punished for it
so I'm just gonna skip it then.
Okay.
Alright sorry guys Sams ofAnarchy so this uh this cobalt
(01:28:35):
is pointed down to you boss yeahyou going up first uh
preemptively though kind ofknowing how these these things
work um uh I went ahead and castuh where's my spells protect
from poison on myself okay andan enhance ability on myself
(01:28:58):
choosing strength that's that'sgood that's good alright give me
so uh standing in front of youis a uh a boulder it's marked it
is a large that's a nice boulderit's a it's a large boulder
standing in front of you no shothere oh apparently that's not
how these things work no thelast game was called the tipsy
(01:29:22):
tunes oh I thought everythingwas had drinking involved but
okay never mind apparently Idon't know how this thing works
yeah so as everybody knows uhthe first round they've gotta
throw a boulder very very far asfar as they can the winner of
this game will not only get ascroll of giant strength but
(01:29:45):
will also be put on the wall ofSam very real wall that's uh by
the bridge uh by the queen'sbridge did you say your very
real wall yeah very real wallI'm not gonna lie, this hurts
way more than I thought itwould.
SPEAKER_08 (01:30:05):
Are you doing the uh
uh vocal fry?
Is that what you're doing?
SPEAKER_06 (01:30:10):
Yes.
SPEAKER_08 (01:30:11):
Yeah.
I just learned what that waslike two days ago.
SPEAKER_06 (01:30:15):
So, as everybody
knows, the winner of this will
not only get the gauntlet ofstrength and an automatic entry
into the Battle of Champions, but they will they will also
make it to the Hall of Sam's.
(01:30:36):
So you should probably stopdoing that.
I know.
I can't.
I gotta continue.
It's a very real wall carvedfrom marble.
The winners' names are magicallyin engraved in their greatest
flexing poses.
SPEAKER_08 (01:30:52):
Their name in a
flexing pose?
Yep.
SPEAKER_02 (01:30:57):
It's like when
you're when you spell buffalo
and the the letters buffalo makethe shape of buffalo?
SPEAKER_06 (01:31:03):
It's italics.
SPEAKER_02 (01:31:04):
The city of Buffalo?
Not the animal, because thatwould be silly.
SPEAKER_06 (01:31:08):
Why does that hurt
so much?
I didn't even I I did not expectI practiced this voice in the
mirror.
How did you get in the mirror?
It did not hurt that much.
What's that?
SPEAKER_08 (01:31:17):
How did you get in
the mirror?
SPEAKER_02 (01:31:19):
Yeah, you should
have done it on air, not in the
mirror, man.
Fair enough.
SPEAKER_08 (01:31:23):
Practice that you
play, you know what I'm saying?
I find it.
I done it in front of themirror, not in it.
SPEAKER_06 (01:31:27):
The voices sometimes
go with a face, and if I can
keep the face, I can rememberthat in the future.
SPEAKER_02 (01:31:33):
I know what you
mean.
Like must memory pulls the Yeah.
SPEAKER_08 (01:31:37):
I literally just
learned what local fry was, and
it's the reason it isuncomfortable when you first
start doing it is because you'reactually tightening down on your
throat so that you're it's notpassing as much air through it.
So it's irritating.
SPEAKER_06 (01:31:53):
Yeah.
It feels like a tickle rightdown here.
SPEAKER_08 (01:31:56):
Yeah.
That's where you like it.
We can get that for ya.
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (01:32:01):
First off, that's a
different game.
I didn't say I can, I said wecan.
SPEAKER_06 (01:32:07):
We can together.
So, uh this mag this boulder uhin front of you, it is marked
with a red X, and you need totoss it as far as you can.
So it is at an athletics check.
It is a DC-13 or higher.
SPEAKER_08 (01:32:30):
Um it's just a
DC-13.
SPEAKER_06 (01:32:34):
Yes.
SPEAKER_01 (01:32:35):
Okay.
And he wants Voss to go first?
Yes.
Voss jumps right over to thatboulder.
This doesn't look too heavy.
And uh he picks it up and uhthrows it.
We're an 18.
18.
SPEAKER_06 (01:32:51):
Yeah, you you throw
this thing through the air.
It starts soaring, lands very, very far away.
Um the announcer just starts.
Whoa! That's not a boulder, that's their ego, and they just
chucked it into next week.
SPEAKER_01 (01:33:12):
Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (01:33:18):
Oh, nice.
Give me a performance roll.
SPEAKER_01 (01:33:21):
Performance.
SPEAKER_06 (01:33:25):
Ooh.
Damn.
Yeah, the crowd is just goingcrazy.
Where they were chairing freebefore, they're just going
absolutely nuts.
SPEAKER_02 (01:33:33):
I heard one clap.
You said the clouds going crazy, you clapped once.
Just once.
SPEAKER_06 (01:33:42):
Alright.
Uh Nelvax.
You're up.
SPEAKER_02 (01:33:46):
Yeah, I'm gonna
recast guidance on myself,
focusing on strength as myability.
SPEAKER_06 (01:33:52):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (01:33:53):
Uh I'm a fairly lean
dude.
Uh like average build, likelean, but not not not big.
Uh so athletics, you say.
SPEAKER_06 (01:34:02):
Athletics.
13.
SPEAKER_02 (01:34:05):
Spoot of my hands,
rub them on my thighs, and then
reach down, grab this boulder, give it a yuck.
What is it?
Oh.
I'm gonna add a d4 to thatbecause that's embarrassing.
Your d4 roll was uh was higher.
Almost but it my d4 roll wasbetter than my d20 roll.
That's a very good note, Maddie.
(01:34:26):
Uh I'm embarrassed.
I got an eight total.
SPEAKER_06 (01:34:30):
Whoa.
It's uh Nelvax did not performas well as he should have.
SPEAKER_02 (01:34:38):
Do they have any
backup boulders out of
curiosity?
SPEAKER_06 (01:34:42):
Oh yeah, there are
there are boulders lined up here
for all the performances.
SPEAKER_01 (01:34:47):
Let's go up a little
bit closer.
I dropped the opposite of theboulder.
SPEAKER_02 (01:34:51):
Just to like prove a
point.
Just like 10 damage.
SPEAKER_06 (01:34:57):
Go for it.
SPEAKER_02 (01:34:58):
I I'm gonna kick it
in half.
Kick it back.
SPEAKER_06 (01:35:00):
Yeah.
Give me a sack roll.
SPEAKER_02 (01:35:02):
Uh yeah.
Uh 25.
Well, they did get there.
SPEAKER_06 (01:35:07):
Yeah.
This boulder just splits inhalf.
And uh this cobalt says likelooks at you, looks at the
boulder, and says, I'm uh realsorry.
SPEAKER_02 (01:35:23):
I pull my hood up on
my cloak and just like walk off
stage.
I feel pretty good about kickingthat boulder in half, but uh
tossed.
SPEAKER_01 (01:35:31):
Voss sees his friend
and goes over and pats him on
the shoulder.
He's like, You need to put thatuh kind of energy into the
throw.
What didn't you hope with that?
SPEAKER_00 (01:35:39):
Yeah, I'm impressed.
SPEAKER_01 (01:35:43):
Son of a bitch.
SPEAKER_06 (01:35:44):
So uh a couple more
people come up.
Uh a half orc comes up and andjust crushes it, throws it just
as far as uh Vosta.
A couple people fail, but uh inthis trial, everybody moves
forward.
It's the greatest of three.
SPEAKER_02 (01:36:02):
Does the distance
will kick the top half of that
boulder count towards mydistance?
SPEAKER_06 (01:36:06):
No.
No, it does not.
Let's check.
Alright.
So the next is the chain pull.
So that announcer comes up onceagain.
My throat is itching justthinking about this.
As everybody knows, the next isthe chain pool.
Pretty much all you gotta do isdrag this heavy stone as far as
(01:36:27):
you can across the sand while wethrow stuff at you.
That's it.
It's sand.
We throw sand at you.
Lots of sand.
SPEAKER_08 (01:36:35):
Nice build.
So why is it called a chain pullwhen you're sort of dragging a
stone around?
You're dragging it by a chain.
SPEAKER_02 (01:36:44):
Oh, okay.
That seemed I was I was on boardwith that one.
SPEAKER_06 (01:36:48):
I okay.
Alright.
Boss, you're first.
Alright.
Winners to leavers?
So you're dragging a stonethrough the sand while sand is
being dumped on you.
So it's gonna be a strengthsaving throw.
SPEAKER_01 (01:37:03):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (01:37:04):
And it is a 14 or
higher.
SPEAKER_01 (01:37:07):
And oh, it doesn't
have I don't have the thing on
ability checks.
So it's a strength saving throw.
I don't have to do something forthe pull?
SPEAKER_06 (01:37:15):
No, it's a strength
saving throw.
SPEAKER_01 (01:37:17):
Hang on just one
sec.
I think I have something.
SPEAKER_06 (01:37:19):
If you have bless.
SPEAKER_01 (01:37:21):
Uh?
SPEAKER_02 (01:37:22):
Yeah, bless, it's a
level one spell.
Yeah.
You can bless up to threecreatures, just saying.
SPEAKER_07 (01:37:27):
It will knock off
your enhance ability though.
SPEAKER_01 (01:37:30):
Yeah, yeah.
I'd have to redo uh I'd have toredo that one.
Because it's yeah,concentration.
But I can grass it.
SPEAKER_02 (01:37:38):
Where's enhance
ability?
It's at level two.
Two and three.
Did I not refer spells?
Level two?
Ah, there it is.
I see now.
SPEAKER_01 (01:37:46):
Yeah, but I can also
I can I mean guidance does the
same thing as both you, butguidance would also knock on me.
SPEAKER_07 (01:37:52):
Yeah, guidance is
also only for ability checks,
it's not for saves or attacks.
SPEAKER_01 (01:37:56):
Well, excuse me.
SPEAKER_02 (01:37:57):
Bless is a a first
level spell, just for your first
level slots.
SPEAKER_01 (01:38:04):
Well, but guidance
is a cantrip.
Uh you can only do one or theother though, because they're
both concentrations.
Yeah, yeah, I can.
Okay, I'll go ahead and do my uhstrength saving throw, and I'll
cast guidance on myself.
SPEAKER_02 (01:38:18):
I was gonna say, are
you you already have enhanced
it?
Oh no.
Well, guidance isn't gonna helpyou on a save.
I was gonna say I could cast iton you.
I have nothing else to do.
Guidance is only for an abilitycheck, not on a save.
So you start slipping andfaltering.
SPEAKER_06 (01:38:32):
Yeah, so you start
slipping and faltering through
the sand, um, and and you'restruggling through the first
half of this.
Give me another strength savingthrow.
SPEAKER_01 (01:38:39):
Well, I get to add
four to that.
A D4.
SPEAKER_06 (01:38:42):
No, you don't.
Guidance is only for abilitychecks.
SPEAKER_01 (01:38:45):
No, no, that's what
I'm saying is I'll that's what
I'll use.
Bless.
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_06 (01:38:49):
So it's only 14 or
higher.
SPEAKER_01 (01:38:51):
Oh, okay, so it's
not their mind then.
unknown (01:38:53):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (01:38:53):
DC.
SPEAKER_01 (01:38:55):
You can cast it onto
three creatures.
But I can't cast spells onanybody else.
That you know about.
Strength saving throw.
Uh 16.
SPEAKER_06 (01:39:05):
Yeah, so though
you're struggling through the
first half, you just musterthrough and you're able to pull
that slab all the way across thefinish line.
SPEAKER_02 (01:39:13):
Okay.
Poof.
SPEAKER_06 (01:39:15):
Alright.
No vex.
SPEAKER_02 (01:39:17):
Let's do it.
Same thing with you.
Dexterity's paint, right?
SPEAKER_06 (01:39:20):
No, not dexterity.
Strength.
Good try though.
SPEAKER_02 (01:39:24):
Alright.
Uh I'm gonna use my boots offalse tracks to put some more uh
bugbear marks on the ground.
SPEAKER_06 (01:39:31):
Okay, great.
SPEAKER_02 (01:39:32):
Uh seven plus four
for eleven, which is not it's
really it's respectable, youknow.
My strength save is twice ashigh as bosses.
Just want to point that out.
While I fail.
And don't forget.
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (01:39:47):
Yeah, that that sand
in the beginning, you're just
not used to that kind of terrainand you're struggling.
Uh but you you pull throughthrough the second half, give me
another strength save.
SPEAKER_02 (01:39:57):
The problem really
is that bugbear feet aren't
designed to uh to to make fruitand track like traction in s in
sand.
So I'm actually gonna change myfeet to um I don't know.
Uh we'll go like half work.
I'm gonna s I'm gonna channelsome some Zane here and do some
half work.
And I get a 20 on this thing.
SPEAKER_06 (01:40:19):
You're able to pull
it through all the way.
SPEAKER_02 (01:40:22):
Hell yeah.
Also, do what?
Just making fun just having agood time using my items to the
who would even notice myfootprints in the sand.
Alright, that's silly.
Nobody's tracking me, probably.
Alright.
SPEAKER_06 (01:40:40):
So a couple other
competitors come up.
That half work just failsmiserably in the sand.
And the announcer comes on.
Looks like we have a semi-finalgoing on.
Nelvax versus boss.
Arm wrestling contest at theTitans table.
SPEAKER_02 (01:41:01):
I'll give him a fist
bump.
It's a return.
Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (01:41:08):
Alright.
So this is just a athleticscontested strength arm
wrestling.
Uh it is the first of threewins.
So three consecutive wins.
SPEAKER_00 (01:41:22):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (01:41:23):
So standing in front
of you is a table.
It's got uh a couple it's gotthe images of two like really
swole arms.
Like they got a pump going on,and uh it's it's an arm
wrestling table, and both of youtake opposite ends, and it's
just a contested arm wrestlingmatch, so it's it's athletics.
SPEAKER_02 (01:41:42):
Uh Nelvax gives a
nod to Voss, it's like, hey,
winner buys drinks next, right?
SPEAKER_06 (01:41:49):
You got it.
Alright.
Contested athletics.
SPEAKER_02 (01:41:53):
Okay.
Uh 11 plus one.
I'm gonna add my guidance.
14 total for Nelvax.
SPEAKER_01 (01:42:02):
Yeah, an 18.
SPEAKER_06 (01:42:04):
Alright, yeah.
Voss starts to put down Nelvax'shand a little bit.
Give me another one.
SPEAKER_02 (01:42:10):
That one's a 16
total.
SPEAKER_06 (01:42:13):
Oh.
SPEAKER_02 (01:42:14):
I got a 15.
SPEAKER_06 (01:42:15):
Back to middle.
Give me another.
SPEAKER_02 (01:42:17):
15 total?
unknown (01:42:19):
Damn.
SPEAKER_02 (01:42:20):
Got 18.
SPEAKER_06 (01:42:22):
Voss, you start to
move up.
Uh you see both of you see inthe background that a shots are
being poured for both of you.
unknown (01:42:30):
Shots are.
SPEAKER_02 (01:42:31):
I also want to point
out.
Novak's lost hands.
SPEAKER_01 (01:42:35):
A shotgun?
unknown (01:42:36):
What?
SPEAKER_06 (01:42:37):
What do you try to
like?
Don't don't purposelymisconstrue my words.
You know what the fuck I'msaying.
SPEAKER_01 (01:42:43):
Are these
celebration shots?
SPEAKER_06 (01:42:45):
No.
SPEAKER_02 (01:42:46):
We're being put down
for a little bit.
Give me another roll.
unknown (01:42:49):
Oh no.
SPEAKER_02 (01:42:50):
Oh, we're doing
another one.
Oh, oh.
Ooh, this is a good one.
Uh 23 total.
Uh I got 16.
SPEAKER_06 (01:42:58):
Moving in the
opposite direction.
Both of you are handed shots andtold to drink it with your
opposite hands.
SPEAKER_01 (01:43:04):
I'd do it.
I drink mine too.
SPEAKER_06 (01:43:07):
Give me con saves.
SPEAKER_01 (01:43:08):
Is this poison?
I get p I get advantage againstpoison checks.
I got a 10.
Do I am I rolling two decks orone?
SPEAKER_06 (01:43:17):
No, just one.
It's not actually poison.
Yeah, it's not actually poison.
Both of you have the poisonedeffect for the next hour.
It is not poison.
SPEAKER_01 (01:43:28):
But I have two
seconds from poison.
SPEAKER_06 (01:43:30):
I'm using the poison
effect just to.
Okay, you both have disadvantageon ability checks for the next
hour.
SPEAKER_00 (01:43:37):
Hell yeah.
Alright.
SPEAKER_06 (01:43:40):
Alright.
So Nelvax is winning.
One over.
SPEAKER_08 (01:43:43):
There is no
condition drunk.
unknown (01:43:45):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (01:43:46):
Give me another
roll.
SPEAKER_01 (01:43:47):
I feel I feel
cheated out of using a second
syllable spill slot, but.
SPEAKER_06 (01:43:50):
Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01 (01:43:52):
I've got others,
it'll be okay.
SPEAKER_07 (01:43:54):
I have to side with
Maddie on that one.
Drunk is the is poisonedcondition, and the smell
prevents the poisoned condition.
SPEAKER_06 (01:44:00):
No, it's not poison.
I'm just saying.
No.
It's not poisoned, right?
It's just saying I'm using thateffect for disadvantage.
SPEAKER_01 (01:44:10):
No.
SPEAKER_06 (01:44:12):
Yeah.
Alright, what you guys roll?
SPEAKER_02 (01:44:15):
20.
What are you rolling?
Concept.
Uh athletics check.
Athletics.
SPEAKER_01 (01:44:21):
Yep.
20 tour.
So I'll just do it not atdisadvantage.
SPEAKER_06 (01:44:24):
No, at disadvantage.
SPEAKER_01 (01:44:26):
I didn't do it at
disadvantage.
I have advantage on it.
SPEAKER_06 (01:44:28):
Oh, you had dis you
had advantage?
SPEAKER_01 (01:44:31):
I have advantage on
athletics on strike checks, and
so I'll roll it normally.
Nice.
You've been rolling twiceagainst me every time?
I was.
And you beat me once.
I felt really bad.
More than once.
Why?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, no, you beat me once.
What gives you advantage onathletics?
Yeah.
I've been rolling double dice onall these.
So I got natural twenty two.
SPEAKER_08 (01:44:51):
He cast enhanced
ability.
SPEAKER_01 (01:44:53):
It's enhanced.
I thought you blessed yourself.
SPEAKER_02 (01:44:56):
I did.
I cast it again.
Oh, you went back and forth.
SPEAKER_06 (01:45:01):
Alright, so the last
one was a 22 versus.
15.
Alright, yeah.
You guys are back in the middle.
Alright.
Rapid rolls.
Let's go.
Come on.
Keep going.
SPEAKER_02 (01:45:12):
Disadvantage.
Rolling.
So Maddie's doing straight rollsnow, right?
Yep.
SPEAKER_06 (01:45:15):
Yeah, you were doing
disadvantage.
SPEAKER_02 (01:45:17):
15 or 17?
15 plus guidance for an 18.
SPEAKER_06 (01:45:23):
Back to Novex plus
1.
SPEAKER_02 (01:45:25):
I don't have to roll
my guidance at disadvantage,
right?
That'd be.
SPEAKER_06 (01:45:28):
No, you do not.
SPEAKER_02 (01:45:30):
I never considered.
SPEAKER_06 (01:45:31):
Give me another.
SPEAKER_02 (01:45:33):
Oh no.
11.
Um 14.
SPEAKER_06 (01:45:38):
Novex plus two?
Nelvex, you win this roll, youwin.
SPEAKER_02 (01:45:42):
Alright.
Athletics.
Disadvantage.
SPEAKER_06 (01:45:45):
Oh, Voss.
SPEAKER_02 (01:45:47):
Oh man.
Uh 18 is my last roll.
SPEAKER_06 (01:45:51):
Nelvex, you slam
Voss's hand into the other side.
Into the into the table.
What would you like to do?
How do you want to do this?
SPEAKER_02 (01:46:02):
Uh uh, I do a
fucking cartwheel.
Like, I can't outstrength himreally.
So like I like I see we'regetting close, and I just like
throw my leg up over my winningside and like cartwheel over him
to like advantage use my weightto my advantage to push his arm
down and basically end up nextto him and just give him a hug.
Like I'm so happy we did this.
SPEAKER_08 (01:46:28):
That's okay, but you
earned it.
SPEAKER_06 (01:46:30):
Alright.
And we have a winner, Nelvax.
Here's your scroll of giantstrength.
And an automatic entry into theBattle of Champions.
Not to mention, give me thatflex.
SPEAKER_02 (01:46:45):
Uh when he hands me
the scroll, I'm gonna pretend
that's really heavy.
I'm like Almost drop it to theground.
Like it jerks me over my son.
SPEAKER_06 (01:46:52):
You see a large
flash just as you do that?
It's like, well, uh I guessthat's going on the wall of Sam.
SPEAKER_02 (01:47:00):
Oh no.
No.
It's not fair.
I thought you said gauntlets.
As I do it, I transition into ahandstand with uh like hole in
the scroll flexing, but I'mupside down on the handstand.
SPEAKER_06 (01:47:17):
Another large flash
gets uh another large flash.
Alright, that's much better.
SPEAKER_02 (01:47:23):
It was almost real
embarrassing forever.
SPEAKER_06 (01:47:26):
Okay.
I've got uh one more contest uhfor for tonight, and then next
session we can plan for thebattle of champions.
SPEAKER_08 (01:47:39):
So right now we've
got Nelvax and um Parlac and
Nelvax are both entered into theBattle of Champions.
SPEAKER_03 (01:47:47):
Oh man.
SPEAKER_06 (01:47:48):
So, as what you guys
don't know right now, um, or you
do know, but I have not told youyet, your your characters know,
that the Battle of Champions, you can either enter it yourself
or you can choose a champion torepresent you.
So you don't have to enteryourself.
(01:48:09):
You can enter somebody else.
SPEAKER_08 (01:48:13):
Obviously, with
their consent.
SPEAKER_06 (01:48:16):
Alright.
Another announcement is made.
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen,to the Leap of Death
competition.
First prize is a potion of waterbreathing, sponsored by the
Emporium of Marvelous Rarities.
Um, so all of you know that thisis a jump off the cliff.
You need to go as far and as faroff the cliff as you can to
(01:48:40):
avoid the rocks below and landinto the water, and you need to
do it as stylishly as you can.
So it is gonna be a combinationof strength and acrobatics.
SPEAKER_08 (01:48:53):
Strength and
acrobatics?
SPEAKER_06 (01:48:55):
Strength to leap off
the cliff as far as you can,
acrobatics or yeah, acrobaticsto do a kind of a flourish or as
you're diving off.
SPEAKER_02 (01:49:07):
Is there a precedent
if you've won more than one to
send somebody else in in yourstead for one of your victories?
Because Novak still wants toplay the game.
SPEAKER_06 (01:49:16):
There is not a
precedent to that.
SPEAKER_02 (01:49:18):
We can make it.
SPEAKER_06 (01:49:19):
Yeah, you can make
it.
Most people just stop afterthey've won.
SPEAKER_08 (01:49:25):
So are you allowed
to use magic stuff?
SPEAKER_06 (01:49:30):
You can still use
magic as long as it's only on
you.
SPEAKER_08 (01:49:33):
So, like winged
boots.
SPEAKER_02 (01:49:39):
Has it been less
than a minute since it's the
first performance?
SPEAKER_06 (01:49:42):
The judge may say
something to you about that.
This is meant to be a dive offof a cliff.
Okay.
Who would like to enter?
SPEAKER_08 (01:49:51):
Uh Zane.
It's been an hour, right?
So yeah.
So Zayn will enter.
Xaniver?
SPEAKER_01 (01:49:59):
Yeah.
No, not for him.
Okay.
So and I'm still poisoned fromthe last game.
SPEAKER_06 (01:50:07):
Is that correct?
You're not.
You're not no longer poisoned.
SPEAKER_01 (01:50:10):
Is one uh you said
strength and ac acrobatics, is
one uh weighted more than theother?
SPEAKER_06 (01:50:17):
Uh you do not know
at this time.
SPEAKER_01 (01:50:19):
Uh boss will stay
out.
SPEAKER_06 (01:50:21):
Boss will what?
SPEAKER_01 (01:50:22):
I'll stay out.
SPEAKER_06 (01:50:24):
Stay out.
Okay.
Novak, Zane, Harlak?
SPEAKER_02 (01:50:28):
Novak's likes to
jump with us.
SPEAKER_03 (01:50:30):
Uh don't think this
is I think the strength thing is
what's uh gonna keep me out ofthis one.
If it was purely acrobatics, maybe, but I think I'm gonna
splat roll a one and uh Yeah,I'm a flightless bird.
SPEAKER_02 (01:50:47):
It's fine, it's only
concrete for like the first like
quarter centimeter, that's fine.
SPEAKER_03 (01:50:51):
Uh I'm not poisoned
anymore though, right?
unknown (01:50:54):
No.
SPEAKER_03 (01:50:54):
You are not poisoned
anymore.
SPEAKER_05 (01:50:56):
Oh I'll give it a
shot.
SPEAKER_02 (01:50:59):
Uh yeah, Nelvax
comes up to uh Hard and gives
him a pat on the the wingedshoulder.
Like, I can't wait to fly withyou, bud.
SPEAKER_03 (01:51:08):
Ha ha just do like a
quick flap of no actual wings.
SPEAKER_08 (01:51:16):
So is there any
precedent for anybody using
winged boots or flying orwhatever?
SPEAKER_06 (01:51:23):
There is not, but
the judge has the final say.
SPEAKER_05 (01:51:25):
Judge?
I'm just okay.
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (01:51:30):
Okay, so Nelvax,
Zane, and Voss, you're all
entering?
Not Voss?
SPEAKER_01 (01:51:38):
Voss is not
entering.
SPEAKER_06 (01:51:39):
Just Nelvax and
Zane.
SPEAKER_02 (01:51:43):
I thought Harleck
was in.
SPEAKER_06 (01:51:45):
I thought Harleck
was in too.
Oh, you're in Harleck?
SPEAKER_03 (01:51:48):
Yeah, I'm gonna jump
in and I'll give you a little
bit of a game.
SPEAKER_06 (01:51:50):
Hell yeah.
Alright, three gold pieces.
SPEAKER_08 (01:51:54):
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (01:51:56):
Spent happily.
SPEAKER_08 (01:51:57):
I forgot the first
three.
Yeah, I mean the same for.
SPEAKER_06 (01:52:01):
Alright.
So yeah, a large crowd gathersfor the final uh and one of the
most daring events of the day.
Many are lying or sitting by theedge of the cliffs to not risk
falling in the water below.
Uh, but they want to ensure thatthey see where the contestants
are landing in the waterydepths.
The event host is uh is is isyoung Lord uh Ronald.
(01:52:24):
He's the only son of uh LordDizag Ronald of Ronald's End.
It's a well-built he's awell-built human, a seasoned
warrior, uh he's got a gentledemeanor and a compulsion to act
uh benevolently by praisingevery contestant.
SPEAKER_02 (01:52:42):
Have we heard him
praising us yet?
SPEAKER_06 (01:52:44):
Oh yeah, he's he's
been he's been talking to
everybody that comes up.
He's he's commenting onclothing, torso, like uh you
specifically hear him uhcommenting on an elvish woman's
uh figure, says, What abeautiful torso! Oh dear eternal
mother, please take care of it.
And he's not coming off, he'snot trying to come off as creepy
(01:53:06):
or or flirtatious, he's justgenerally praising.
So um each account eachcontestant has to jump into the
sea from the podium.
Uh it requires a successfulstrength check or athletics uh
to jump far enough from thecliffs to avoid crashing on
them.
Um on a successful jump, uh thecontestant will gain a point.
(01:53:30):
And then for every five pointfive points above the DC
success, it's an additionalpoint.
So for instance, if it's the DCfive and you roll a 10, that is
two points instead of one.
SPEAKER_02 (01:53:43):
Is it a running jump
or is it a standing jump?
SPEAKER_06 (01:53:46):
It is a running
jump.
On a failed check, you may landon the rocks and take some
damage.
SPEAKER_00 (01:53:51):
Uh-oh.
SPEAKER_06 (01:53:53):
Alright.
Nelvex, you're up.
SPEAKER_02 (01:53:57):
Yo.
Alright, so if I get a uh arunning start, I think I get a
thing for this.
Step of the wind.
Can I use my dash action to takethe dash and double my jump
distance for the turn?
It's a class feature of a monk,Step of the Wind, to use a key
point.
You can take the dash action asa bonus action, or spend expend
(01:54:20):
one focus point to take both thedisengage and dash actions as a
bonus action, and your jumpdistance is doubled for the
turn.
Uh sure.
Hell yeah.
I use the key point, I get arunning start, and I uh I'll
visualize that as like as I'm atfull speed sprint, I go into a
handstand and like both hands onthe ground and just like launch
(01:54:42):
myself twice as far as you wouldhave otherwise anticipated.
SPEAKER_06 (01:54:44):
Alright, give me
athletics at advantage.
DC save is eight.
SPEAKER_02 (01:54:48):
Okay.
It's uh eighteen total.
SPEAKER_06 (01:54:51):
Yeah, you launch
yourself off the cliff.
Is there anything you want to doin the air?
SPEAKER_02 (01:54:55):
Um, if I didn't
already cast guidance?
Yes.
I imagine I would have alreadycast guidance for probably
athletics for the the dive part.
Uh acrobatics.
Uh I'm gonna start spiraling, spinning, and try to just time
the rotations to not belly flop, really.
Okay.
Uh which is a nine plusguidance?
(01:55:19):
A ten.
Wow, that's impressive.
SPEAKER_06 (01:55:22):
The first save is
only a ten, so that works.
SPEAKER_02 (01:55:27):
That was fucking
cool.
SPEAKER_06 (01:55:29):
Alright, yeah, you
successfully splash into the
water.
Um, there is a wizard down thereof the uh tower, and he
teleports you back up to the topof the cliff.
Zane, you're up.
SPEAKER_08 (01:55:42):
Alright, so you said
flashy is helpful, right?
SPEAKER_06 (01:55:46):
Flashy is helpful
helpful during the dive, yes.
SPEAKER_08 (01:55:49):
Okay.
Alright, so Zane will take arunning start and do a leap off
of the cliff.
And as he is um leaping off ofthe cli or diving off of the
cliff, he will do a flip, andthen as he's as he's coming out
(01:56:12):
of the somersault, um he'll castminor illusion and wings will
sprung from his back.
In an illusion, they don't doanything.
Oh yeah.
Just for show.
SPEAKER_06 (01:56:24):
Okay.
Uh gimme an athletics check.
Oh, eighteen.
Oh yeah, yeah, you launchyourself off the cliff.
Acrobatics?
SPEAKER_08 (01:56:33):
Not an advantage?
SPEAKER_06 (01:56:35):
No.
SPEAKER_08 (01:56:36):
How the pr uh my
freaking rolls are stuck in uh
sticks.
SPEAKER_02 (01:56:40):
18's pretty good
though.
SPEAKER_06 (01:56:42):
18 is great, yeah.
You launch yourself clear therocks, um, but as you're
flipping through the air doingall the fancy stuff, you kind of
do a belly flop and just land inthe sea.
SPEAKER_05 (01:56:52):
Ooh.
Ooh.
SPEAKER_06 (01:56:56):
Alright, Harlek.
Oh, sorry, guys.
Oh, I see.
Oh yeah, Harleck.
SPEAKER_03 (01:57:03):
I'm about to join
Zane uh splat side down there.
Uh uh, I guess Harlech in his uhcircus uh days will just start
like running like gymnasticsdesks towards the cliff and then
try to do like a couple uh likeuh hand springs to give himself
(01:57:23):
some like vaulting type distanceif he can.
SPEAKER_06 (01:57:27):
Okay.
Give me an athletics check.
Uh an eight.
That passes on the first one.
unknown (01:57:36):
Alright.
SPEAKER_06 (01:57:38):
That passes on the
first one.
Give me an acrobatics.
SPEAKER_03 (01:57:41):
Oh acrobatics?
Alrighty.
SPEAKER_06 (01:57:43):
It's a ten for
acrobatics.
SPEAKER_03 (01:57:45):
Uh uh Nat 20 for Nat
20.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (01:57:51):
So you flip through
the air, you do a triple
somersault reverse plex fallthing.
I'm sorry, any swimmers outthere, I really don't know
anything about that.
And you land perfectly in thewater without a splash.
SPEAKER_03 (01:58:09):
Oh, nice.
It'll surface back up like ohman! That was nuts!
SPEAKER_06 (01:58:17):
Alright.
So there's only two rounds ofthis.
In the first round, Arlac, youhave five points.
Uh Nelvax, you have threepoints, and Zayn, you have two
points.
SPEAKER_02 (01:58:31):
Nice.
Good job, team.
Was there no other competitionin this uh event?
SPEAKER_06 (01:58:36):
There was only one,
and it was a human who failed
his uh his his strength checkand hit the rocks, and he is
currently being cared for by thekingdom's clerics.
SPEAKER_02 (01:58:49):
He still lives
though.
SPEAKER_06 (01:58:51):
Yeah, he's alive.
SPEAKER_02 (01:58:52):
Alright, can I buy
like a healing potion for him or
something?
No, never mind.
Nelvax doesn't give a shit aboutthe guy.
SPEAKER_06 (01:58:59):
I was gonna say,
you're you're Nelvax, you're not
Moors.
SPEAKER_02 (01:59:02):
No, like if I knew
the guy, I'd give a shit, but
Nelvax, that's a stranger.
SPEAKER_06 (01:59:06):
Okay, fine.
SPEAKER_08 (01:59:06):
How do the points
work again?
SPEAKER_06 (01:59:08):
Uh judge assigns
them based off of uh distance,
flourishing, and justsuccessfully landing in the
water.
SPEAKER_02 (01:59:16):
You flourished real
nice though, Bill.
It was lovely.
SPEAKER_08 (01:59:19):
I flourished nice, I
also got distance, right?
Because it was a Yep.
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (01:59:24):
There's one point
for passing one point for every
five above the required DC.
And I don't know about the divepart, but that's what we were.
Did I lose points for the dive?
SPEAKER_06 (01:59:35):
Yes.
SPEAKER_02 (01:59:36):
Potentially.
SPEAKER_06 (01:59:37):
Yeah.
unknown (01:59:38):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (01:59:38):
Alright.
Second round.
Just give me an acrobatics andthen a or sorry, athletics and
then acrobatics.
Harleck, you're at first.
SPEAKER_00 (01:59:52):
Oh no.
No that one.
SPEAKER_06 (01:59:54):
Yeah, so you don't
push yourself far enough away
and Harleck, you're gonna take
SPEAKER_03 (02:00:00):
Oh no.
SPEAKER_06 (02:00:02):
20 points of damage
as you hit the rocks below.
SPEAKER_02 (02:00:06):
Uh Andrew, why you
so mean why you so mean Andrew?
SPEAKER_07 (02:00:15):
Sorry, I thought it
was a community game.
SPEAKER_02 (02:00:19):
66 You give him a
fireball for falling off a
cliff.
SPEAKER_07 (02:00:23):
No, that's 86.
SPEAKER_02 (02:00:25):
Is it 86?
SPEAKER_03 (02:00:26):
Arleck's gonna hit
those rocks.
Just like splat out flatfeathers go flying.
SPEAKER_02 (02:00:33):
Does he still get
landing at least?
Oh no.
You did a great job hittingthose rocks.
SPEAKER_03 (02:00:41):
Slides off.
SPEAKER_02 (02:00:42):
I will give a
healing potion.
Harlek if he wants one.
SPEAKER_06 (02:00:49):
Harleck, you're
gonna regain your full hit
points.
SPEAKER_00 (02:00:53):
Oh cool, cool.
SPEAKER_06 (02:00:54):
Alright, Novex,
you're up next.
SPEAKER_02 (02:00:57):
Uh can I still do
the same thing using a key point
to get my jump distance doubled?
SPEAKER_06 (02:01:03):
Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02 (02:01:04):
Oh yeah.
Alright, so that's athletics atadvantage, yes?
SPEAKER_06 (02:01:08):
Yep.
SPEAKER_02 (02:01:10):
Oh yeah.
Good fucking thing.
I had a 1 and a 19 on the dice.
That's uh 22 total for thedistance.
SPEAKER_06 (02:01:16):
Yeah, you launch
off.
SPEAKER_02 (02:01:18):
This time I don't I
don't fool around with any of
the uh the handspring stuff.
I just like full sprint straightoff.
Like as I'm passing off theland, I'm still running in a
straight line.
It's like the wily coyote thingwhere I don't look down until
I'm already like 10 feet pastthe ground.
SPEAKER_06 (02:01:33):
Okay.
Give me a acrobatics.
SPEAKER_02 (02:01:36):
Okay.
Hmm.
Okay.
I'm gonna use my guidance.
That's alright.
17 total for acrobatics.
SPEAKER_06 (02:01:43):
Yeah, that passes.
It's only a 12.
So how do you land in the water?
SPEAKER_02 (02:01:48):
So I'm just gonna
like as I'm running, I keep like
choo-choo train motioning myarms, just like uh circles with
my elbows, I guess, likerunning, and then as like right
as I'm approaching, it lookslike I'm about to uh to the
belly flop in and I go into thepike and I put my fingers down,
my toes, and my he tuck my headdown, and I just smoothly
transition, not belly flopping.
unknown (02:02:09):
Yep.
SPEAKER_06 (02:02:09):
Okay, great.
Yeah, you land smoothly in thewater.
Zane, you're up.
SPEAKER_08 (02:02:16):
Uh 19 for the
athletics.
SPEAKER_06 (02:02:18):
Damn, destroyed it.
Yeah, you launch yourself offthe cliff cleanly.
12 or higher.
SPEAKER_08 (02:02:23):
And uh 12 for the
acrobatics.
SPEAKER_06 (02:02:26):
Nice.
Yeah, you land smoothly in thewater.
SPEAKER_08 (02:02:31):
Way far out.
SPEAKER_06 (02:02:33):
Way far out.
Uh, so the announcer comes overone last time, says, in first
place.
Sorry.
In third place, we've gotHarleck, who unfortunately
smashed against the rocks.
And second place, Zane.
(02:02:54):
And in first place, Nelvax.
You get a potion of waterbreathing.
Or scroll of water breathing.
SPEAKER_02 (02:03:01):
Oh man, we didn't
even ask.
SPEAKER_06 (02:03:03):
And another
automatic entry into the Battle
of Champions.
No gold.
No gold.
SPEAKER_08 (02:03:10):
Oh, just that one
competition gave gold.
SPEAKER_06 (02:03:12):
Yep.
SPEAKER_02 (02:03:13):
Is it potion of
water breathing?
SPEAKER_06 (02:03:15):
Yes.
Alright.
So I know this was uh a lot ofindividuals doing events and
everything.
It was randomized between 14different events.
Just three that came up.
So three of you are entered intothe Battle of Champions.
Um, there's gonna be otherthings for the players that
(02:03:36):
aren't in the Battle ofChampions to do.
So don't think you're notplaying the next game.
There's still gonna be otherthings for you guys to take care
of.
Um Nelvex, who do you want toNelvax Harlach?
Do you guys want to enteryourselves into the Battle of
Champions?
Do you want to give it away?
SPEAKER_02 (02:03:51):
Nelvex will enter
himself for one and uh have a
conversation with his homies tosee if anybody wants to join.
He won't force them to, but ifanybody's interested, he Nelvax
does live for adventure, that'spart of his backstory, is
spending all of his money tojust like experience shit, which
is why he kept going.
Um he would love to haveespecially Harleck with him, but
(02:04:13):
you know, he understandsHarleck's more of a show and
tell and less hands-on for themost part.
Um, and I don't think that heknows uh Zane or Voss or Xaniver
as well, but you know, we'vewe've done a couple little
shenanigans together, so he'shappy to hand off one of his if
anybody's interested.
SPEAKER_08 (02:04:33):
What is the Battle
of Champions again?
SPEAKER_06 (02:04:35):
It is a 1v1 duel.
SPEAKER_02 (02:04:37):
If there's how many
entries there's gonna be three
entries total?
SPEAKER_06 (02:04:40):
Three entries for
the team.
SPEAKER_02 (02:04:42):
Oh, did somebody
else make it in a thing that we
didn't participate?
SPEAKER_06 (02:04:45):
Harlec one and
Nelvex you won too.
SPEAKER_02 (02:04:49):
That's three people.
How do you one v1?
Is it a Royale 1v1v1?
SPEAKER_06 (02:04:53):
Oh, there are other
competitors in this.
SPEAKER_02 (02:04:56):
That's what I was
asking.
SPEAKER_06 (02:04:58):
Yes.
SPEAKER_01 (02:04:59):
Okay.
How must it'll be those threepeople against other people?
Yes, individually against otherpeople.
SPEAKER_02 (02:05:06):
Like a like a
tournament style progression?
SPEAKER_06 (02:05:09):
Yes, tournament
style progression.
SPEAKER_02 (02:05:12):
Gotcha.
That makes more sense.
SPEAKER_06 (02:05:14):
Cool.
The king is known to enter intothe battle of champions.
He has been the winner the lastfour years.
SPEAKER_02 (02:05:22):
Ooh.
So uh again, I'll the realwinner?
SPEAKER_06 (02:05:26):
The real winner,
yes.
SPEAKER_03 (02:05:27):
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_06 (02:05:29):
We don't hit the
king.
One.
No, the real winner, yes.
He's a renowned fighter.
SPEAKER_02 (02:05:35):
Interesting.
I'd love to see it.
Can't wait to find out.
I still will present my secondwinning as an offering if
anybody wants to uh try theirhand against potentially the
king and myself.
SPEAKER_08 (02:05:46):
And it's just a
regular fight.
Anything goes?
SPEAKER_06 (02:05:50):
Anything goes.
One of you won.
SPEAKER_02 (02:05:53):
Umbax is in.
SPEAKER_08 (02:05:55):
Zane will fight if
you don't want to.
Or I mean if you if nobody elsewants to.
Well, not if nobody else.
If he sees that nobody else isgoing for it, Zayn will fight.
SPEAKER_02 (02:06:05):
Yeah, I'll give you
like the the warrior's five
where we clasp wrists with eachother.
Hang out, like give you a goodshake.
SPEAKER_01 (02:06:12):
Boss isn't super
interested in going in, so
Harlec, are you fighting?
SPEAKER_05 (02:06:18):
Ah, I mean, I I
could go into the fight, but if
Xan or Boss wants to take up uhtake up a couple of blows
instead, I'm more than happy togive my ticket away.
SPEAKER_02 (02:06:31):
If so if uh if
Harleck gives his ticket away
and his uh uh his second wins,do they share the prizes?
It's does it still go to Harleckto figure out who like how to
dispense his thing?
SPEAKER_06 (02:06:45):
It goes to Harleck
to figure out how to dispense
the prizes.
SPEAKER_02 (02:06:48):
That's a pretty good
win.
I got good chances here.
I love this.
Nelfax is in beat conditionright now.
This is great.
SPEAKER_07 (02:06:56):
Uh so Xander will
hear the offer, but reply, I'm
sorry my friend, but I have noskill in combat.
At least not within a city.
SPEAKER_06 (02:07:10):
Maddie didn't hear
me.
Or he doesn't care.
SPEAKER_01 (02:07:13):
I'm on I'm on mute.
Yes, I heard you.
Is it a tangent?
SPEAKER_06 (02:07:20):
Okay.
Alright.
Looks like Harleck.
You got him into a fight.
SPEAKER_07 (02:07:26):
Oh man.
Nelvax does have a hireling thatyou could probably put in the
fight for you.
Oh my god, he's a child.
SPEAKER_02 (02:07:35):
Yeah, I just hired a
kid off the streets, if that's
preferable.
SPEAKER_01 (02:07:42):
I actually have a
spell that I can put on a young
adult targeting a it's aceremony spell for a young
adult.
SPEAKER_00 (02:07:49):
Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02 (02:07:51):
I mean, I'm not
offering my kid, but if you feel
like if you're really notinterested in fighting, they
could use the experience, youknow.
What if they win?
SPEAKER_01 (02:07:57):
Let me find well if
they win, you get the um well,
yeah.
That's true.
What is it?
What does this one do?
You touch a humanoid for thenext 24 hours whenever they make
an ability check.
Oh, they can add a 1D upgrade.
SPEAKER_02 (02:08:09):
Uh, I take it back.
You can't touch my humanoid.
I saved him, but Claret can'ttouch your young child.
SPEAKER_01 (02:08:18):
No, bless you, my
son.
He comes back, his hair isparted in the middle.
