Young Chitt’s got a crush bigger than a bass boat on layaway — Lurlene Mae Butterfield, the queen of the third grade. But every time he tries to talk, his tongue turns into a busted garden hose, spouting nonsense that leaves Lurlene more confused than impressed. From calling her dress a “big mess” to asking if she’ll be his “Valvoline,” Chitt’s awkward attempts at love are pure comedy gold. Even a spelling bee disaster and a frog-in-the-mouth recess fail can’t stop him from dreaming big.
Moral: If you’re willing to sound like a possum having a seizure, you’re halfway to winning hearts. Keep floppin’, keep tryin’, and never quit dreamin’.
