Bio:
Alana has been a devoted practitioner of holistic healing for over 12 years, focusing mostly in Chinese medicine and acupuncture, but also working in energy work of various modalities. “It’s about using what can help someone shift their perspective and life,” she will state as her primary motivation. She strives to encourage the “healer within” and to help people become empowered and confident in themselves. After finishing a degree in neuroscience, she found work in South Korea, and traveled throughout Asia, including China, Thailand, and Bali. It was here she discovered her love of Chinese medicine and Eastern philosophy, but she completed her studies to be an acupuncturist back home in Canada. Additionally, she has studied Zen Buddhism for 15 years, and one of her most profound experiences has been her week-long silent retreat in a Zen Buddhist temple in South Korea. More recently in 2022, drastic changes in her personal life, including a severe stress-induced heart attack, has sharply brought a shift in priorities and personal wellbeing into focus, and has been a galvanising experience to both recover from and springboard into future endeavours. “Being a single parent, self-employed, and striving for personal growth all have prices, and as best as I can I try to navigate this stage with gratitude and humility.”

Ruthie's Table 4
For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
