En Europa, especialmente en países como España, Francia e Italia, la cultura laboral está vinculada a la jubilación y las pensiones, con una expectativa de ingresos estables tras dejar de trabajar. Esto fomenta una mentalidad de "jubílate y dedícate a disfrutar". En contraste, en el mundo anglosajón, como en Estados Unidos, las pensiones son a menudo insuficientes, obligando a muchos a seguir activos. Un ejemplo impactante es el de un anciano que vende café para complementar su pensión: "Pensamos que era el padre del dueño, pero nos sorprendió saber que trabajaba por necesidad".
