My Heart Radio is proud to support our military community
from the largest military installation in North America. Let's go
on post at Ford Hood, brought to you by Elder Mitchibishi.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
We're pleased this morning to be joined by Colonel Kevin
were who is the sixty ninth here Defense Artillery Brigade
Commander of Fortthood. Colonel good morning, how are you, sir?
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Good Dwayne, how are you man? Thanks for having me on.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
You bet we're gonna jump right in. We've got a huge,
big thing going on this sevening, Colonel, the Fort Hood
Virtual town Hall is going on. Let's kind of get
into that just a little bit.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Yeah, So, I think these are super popular with folks
in the area, not just folks station at Fort Hood,
but folks that have family members that are interested in
what's going on. So the Garrison Command, Colonel McClelland and
his team are having a virtual town hall to night
at six pm. It'll be on Facebook live livestream. His
motto is, if you've got questions, we got answers. He's
(00:51):
going to focus on installation services. I know that's always
a hot topic here at Fort Hood, huge installation. I
think that's important for soldiers, family, civilian employees, just people
that rely on ford Hood and the services that provide.
It gives them an opportunity to interact with the Garrison
Command team, So I know they're really excited about that.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Colonel Weary, Let's talk just a moment here about Fort
Hood Movie on the Lawn and that's coming up tomorrow
and the weather should be pretty.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Good for that. Yeah, it's starting to cool off, which
is awesome, right, Like we're not even in October. So
this is going to be live music to kick off
with starts at six pm at Sadowski Field in front
of the third Armor Core headquarters. It's a great venue.
Live music to kick it off at six rolls into
When the Sun Goes down. Free movie. That movie starts
(01:38):
at nine pm. It's gonna be Transformers. You can't go
wrong with that, right, kids are gonna love it. Great movie. Free,
open to the entire Fordhood community, whether you're active service
or just in the community. If you're going to come,
bring lawn chairs, blankets, it's gonna be outdoor seating. The
events really run by our director to Family Morale, Welfare
and Recreation Services. It's really an ongoing effort interact with
(02:00):
not just the soldiers here, but families and civilians in
the surrounding area. Really a good opportunity to just kick back, relaxes,
the weather change happens. We've got live entertainment, and then
the movie really allows the community to connect with one another.
And I think that's important virtual interaction, but this is
going to be live, so it'll be a great opportunity well.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
And I love the fact that you'll reach out to
families because families are such a big part of what
we do on post and for good.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
They really are. Absolutely that's that's where we want to connect.
We don't try to retain the soldier, we try to
retain the.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Famas, the family, and that's a good thinking. We're visiting
this morning with Colonel Kevin G. Weary, who is the
sixty ninth Air Defense Artillery Brigade commander.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
So just a few things about us. I think Number one,
we just got one of our three battalions back one
four four eighty A. They were on a mission in
syncom So over in the Middle East. We just got
them back Saturday and Monday, and that's exciting for us.
We're a large brigade. This is the first time in
about two or three years, we've had the entire brigade
all in one spot. That's really exciting for We're trying
(03:00):
to capitalize on that and really reintegrate that team and
build our community here. And I think something that we've
done and I think is important to the brigade, we
sponsor a housing area for us. It's McNair Village. It's
one of the older communities on Fort Hood right and
it really houses young families, so newly married couples, young
enlisted families, maybe one or two children. And we led
(03:22):
a walking town hall as a brigade with Fort Hood
Garrison to address housing issues. You'll see it in the news.
We had some ceiling collapses, some housing safety projects that
are ongoing. We just wanted to reassure that neighborhood that
they had representation at the highest levels so they were
getting the best services. I think we've seen not just
inclusion of those young families, but they're concerns represented with
(03:45):
the Garrison. So it's been a great relationship there. As
we really look for opportunities to be partnered with community.
We've got upcoming events with UMHB specifically. So the first
thing is We're going to provide a static display equipment
at a football game at UMHB on November eight So
if the community's into military equipment, specifically air defense equipment,
(04:07):
we'll have that on display for that home game on
November eighth. And then we've also got an opportunity to
bring the UMHB men's basketball team out on December sixteenth
to our footprint. Really exposed them to what we do,
and I think that's just that continued partnership with the
community ahead of our brigade getting ready to assume a
mission in the January timeframe where will deploy a small
(04:29):
element to syincom as well.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
We're visiting this morning with Colonel Kevin G. Weary, sixty
ninth Air Defense Artillery Brigade Commander at ford Hood. Sir,
we'd like to bring this up every week on the program.
We are still in the fights absolutely.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Ford Hood large installation, a lot of soldiers and with that,
the mission never stops. So it's just a reminder we've
got more than eighteen hundred soldiers from ford Hood deployed
around the world. We've got soldiers that are working the
US border mission. We've got soldiers deployed to Europe, South Korea,
South America, Africa, and the Middle East. So we would
ask listeners to keep those soldiers you're deployed, as well
(05:02):
as their families and your thoughts and prayers as we
go forward. We really appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Colonel Kevin G. Weary's sixty ninth Air Defense Artillery Brigade Commander, Sir,
we appreciate your time this morning and have a wonderful weekend.
